Okay I don't know if any of y'all have brought this up before but I need to for like 5 seconds.

LOOK AT THE FRAMING OF THIS SCENE

When Armand is introducing Louis to the painting of Amadeo, he is blocking the viewers from seeing him. When he turns from the painting for the first time, Amadeo still isn't in frame but Armand is. Behind him the painting is blurred so that no one, much less Amadeo, is visable. It's framed for the viewer like Armand is protecting Amadeo.

BUT, once Armand has moved out of the way and Amadeo is visable who becomes blurred? Armand. He's removed himself from visibility, he's "introducing" Amadeo to the viewers. Once Armand starts to detail what happened to Amadeo the frame changes again, the painting isn't behind him instead theres Louis and Lestat. Armand is once again protecting Amadeo as he details the horrors.

The scene's framing has Armand actively protecting Amadeo the entire time.

There's something hilarious about how so much subsequent media has positioned Vampires and Werewolves as, like, binary opposite entities, and then you read Dracula (1897) and realize that wolves are that guy's preferred solution to every problem. You'd say something to Dracula about "ah yes, werewolves, vampires' great eternal enemies," and he'd just be like "you mean my subcontractors?"
