Embers at First Light:  A Child’s Rage
Inspired by Dylan Thomas’ “Do not go gentle into that good night”Personal adaptation of Dembe Zuma’s Final Monologue
A shared destiny. With silent certainty, death awaits us all. Death’s significance is inherently dissolved by the inevitability of fate’s call. What truly matters? Our relentless search; what we pursue, what we discover. how to heal, how to love, how to grow.   How we Live. We cherish these children, more than anyone will ever know. Their remarkable refusal to go quietly into that good night. Their  fight  for  life. A  fight  in  spite. Imposed by dusk in countless ways, yet fiercely committed to the day’s embrace. When confronted by the silence of twilight, they defy in rage.  The  rage  of  life, To rage against the dying of the light. A blaze to capture moments of peace, play, and joy. Their journey—an innocent and curious endeavour to explore life with an unwavering passion—is perhaps the most profound path one can take. Inconceivable that their spark would fade—freed of wake, into that good night. Our time with them, our time together, is never about an ending. It is always about the odyssey, about discovery, about a child’s everlasting reminder—showing us, imploring us; to rage. Do  not  play  gentle  in  this  fight. Rage. Tend  the  embers  of  their  bright  light. Rage,  rage  and  ignite—

Breaking Free: A Quest for Purpose in a Chaotic World
I don’t like living like this. Honestly, I don’t give a damn about civilization at this point. This life we’re living — it’s so systematic yet chaotic at the same time. It feels meaningless. Restricted. People around us are cowards, having given up on something important, something real. There’s no sense of purpose anymore, no real reason to live beyond chasing the same things: money, fame, power.
The Search for Meaning
Look, I’m not saying the meaning of life has to be the same for everyone. I know it’s different for each person. But from my point of view, what truly matters is knowing oneself — understanding who we are at our core. Knowing oneself involves drawing a line between our desires and the deeper truth of our existence. It’s about transcending the ego and individual identity to recognize that we are part of something greater, something infinite. Once we achieve that, shouldn’t we be seeking the truth of our existence?
The Weight of Responsibility
But here we are, stuck. Trapped in a life full of responsibilities, where abandoning them isn’t an option. And that’s the problem. Our so-called evolution has only taken us farther from courage — courage to live for ourselves, for something bigger than societal expectations. The weight of our obligations has crushed us into loneliness, pain, and complacency. We don’t seek out our purpose anymore. Maybe because we can’t. Maybe because we’re too afraid to.
Ambition vs. Expectation
I have ambitions. Big ones. But they don’t align with what society expects from me. Still, I know I have to go through the motions — to prove myself to the world and fulfill the responsibilities I owe to my parents. I know I can’t escape that. But after that? After I achieve whatever it is that I need to prove, I want to renounce it all. I don’t crave more. I don’t want to spend my entire life in this cycle of suffering, of striving for the next thing. I want to stop.
A Yearning for Freedom
I want to wake up one day, and after proving to the world — and to myself — that I could do it, I just want to stop. I want to leave it all behind. I want to go out into the world — the world the gods made for us to explore. Meet new people, live a simple life, maybe even the life of a monk. I don’t care about fame or fortune. All I want is freedom. Freedom from caring, from trying to fit into this mold that society has shaped for me. But the truth is, I know I can’t. Society won’t let me. My family won’t let me.
A Spiritual Reflection
If I had my way, I’d sit mindfully, with no purpose yet with all the purpose in the world, on the shores of Banaras and give myself away to Shiva. I’d walk through the wilderness of Uttarakhand, feel the symphony of peaks and valleys in Himachal. Before my final breath, I’d learn the culture of the Northeast and witness the beauty of the Western Ghats. For me, this isn’t about abandoning responsibilities; it’s about living for a greater, unknown purpose. Maya may consume me, but I refuse to give her power over me.
The Dilemma of ‘Everything’
Tell me, am I asking for too much? It feels like I am. It feels like I want everything. And everything is something we’re not allowed to have. But here’s the thing — “everything” means something different for each of us. For my father, everything was providing security for our family, financially and in every other way. For me? Everything is fulfilling my duty to my parents and then finally living the life I truly want. But it’s a conundrum we all face, isn’t it? We’re all torn between what we want and what we owe to others.
Moving Forward
Some people get through it; they move on. For some, the feeling passes. But for others, like me, it doesn’t. It sticks. It weighs you down. It makes you wonder — can we do something about this? Can we break free? Can we simply stop caring? All I wish for is moksha, but I know the traditional way of life will not lead me to my God.
The truth is, I don’t know. I don’t know if we can stop caring or escape the cycle. But maybe that’s the real challenge — to find some form of freedom within it all. To balance the responsibilities we have with the life we want for ourselves.
A Moment of Reflection
Maybe it’s enough to simply pause, breathe, and ask ourselves: What does ‘everything’ really mean to me? Do I have the courage to seek it? Or is this just that 3 AM conversation, the kind we forget about when the sun rises?
But what if it wasn’t? What if we actually acted on those ambitions? Maybe that’s the real question — whether we can break free not just in thought, but in action.

𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏 - 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞
There’s a quiet strength in the way you walk through this world, isn’t there? Not every battle needs a roar; sometimes it’s in the silence where your true power shines the brightest. You’ve carried burdens that many would never fully understand, and yet, you never faltered. The world may not always see it, but your silence holds a grace, an unspoken resilience that doesn’t need to be shouted or proven. You’ve walked through storms, and even when the winds were strongest, you stood firm—steady in your path, unwavering in who you are.
It’s in those moments of stillness, when everything feels heavy, that you’ve found the deepest parts of yourself. That’s where your strength is born—from a place so rooted within that nothing can shake it. And I see that. I’ve always seen that. You’re stronger than you know, and I can feel it—soon, your quiet strength will rise to meet the world again, louder than words ever could. You’ve endured so much, and through it all, you’ve never lost the essence of who you are.
There’s a place waiting for you, a place where you’ve always belonged—home. Not a physical place, but within yourself. To that deep well of strength, peace, and love that has always been a part of you. The time is coming for you to embrace it fully. And when you do, you’ll come back not just to yourself, but to a place of wholeness, a place where you’ve always been meant to stand. You’re almost there—stronger, more radiant, and more at peace than ever before.
Come home, to where your heart has always belonged.

The day I moved to Santiago, my sister was diagnosed with HPV 16. I’ve seen her cry before, but this time she was broken, convinced beyond any reassurance that she’d never have kids again. What was supposed to be a big change for me suddenly became all about her. I dropped my things and cooked dinner, but the new place, the new city, the new world—everything was in the back of my mind. I guess that’s how change works. You keep going, and maybe in a month or six, it’ll hit me: those beach days feel so far away, like another life altogether by then Fernanda will be either just fine or in treatment and will be my time to move again and cook dinner in a whole new place.

Exploring is Everything
In my latest blog post, I explore my relationship with reflection. While I don’t consciously reflect, my blog has become a tool for deeper thought, akin to the observer effect in quantum mechanics. This allows me to write authentically and organically.
Looking at my blog it would appear that I am the reflective sort. I have mixed feelings about this. My first reaction is to remember the masterful works of allegorical fiction that were filed under “reflective practice” in my professional development “portfolio”. I couldn’t quite claim that any similarity to real events or people was purely coincidental, but I can’t remember more than a handful,…

𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐁𝐘 Nearing the end, Old asks himself, "Does my life ultimately have any importance in any universal scheme? Am I just taking up space? Have I wasted the time given me? What effect have I had on others? Have I unknowingly, or worse, knowingly, hurt others in some fashion? What's my worth? These are playful existential questions with no pertinent answers for me.
So I'm putting down my cane and picking up my pen. I will sift through the sands of my time to see what I can discover through remembrance. Don't expect any fancy writing. No playing with altered punctuation, or trying to be aesthetically clever, poetic, or intellectual. Not here a Sedaris, or Saunders, or Atwood, or Yuknavich. Just me, squinting into some memorable windows in my life before they all fog.

In the Ashes of Words
2014
Love, honor, faith—mere echoes, God and sacrifice, shadows fading in dust. Once sacred syllables now tossed aside, No one cares, no one dares, Belief has burned in the heat of despair. Why bother? Why speak when the world no longer listens?
Evil seeps like ink through veins, People—hypocrites cloaked in daylight, Lies lurk behind every smile, Deception dances in every handshake. Diplomacy, democracy—hollow words, Liberty, justice, a mirage that vanishes at touch.
Honesty, integrity, freedom, Faded relics in a museum of the mind, Extinct as fossils in a land of greed, The world spins, broken, blind, Marching towards its own undoing.
Is this the end we race towards? An apocalypse of hearts and souls, Where the ruins of our truths Lie buried beneath the weight of our silence?

Learning From Your Mistakes Does Not Happen Automatically - It Requires Thinking and Reflection. Ever heard New People, Old Mistakes? Why? Because Bad History Repeats when People Don't Learn From it or Don't Even Know About it. The Things We Do Everyday, Good or Bad, Becomes History. Good History Repeats when People Understand the Purpose and Meaning of their Actions. Own the Mistakes (Even When They are Not Yours) - Don't Think It Will Not Happen to You. Think about Why It Happened? How did It happen? Think "What If" - As it Just Might Happen to You... Will You be able to Prevent it Right from the Start? In the Middle? Or Right Before the Big Consequence that You would have to Live with, for the Rest of Your Life If you happened to lose a finger or an arm one day. You would think back of the thousands and one scenarios that could have happened easily to Break the Chains of Events, otherwise known as the "Swiss Cheese Model", which I called "All the Stars Aligned" Happenings... Finished reading this guy just the other day. It was a longer read, but that was mostly because I was only reading it on my breaks at work. Gutenberg's Fingerprint is part historical book, part memoir, part personal reflection. Merilyn Simmonds explores the history and future of books alongside the story of having her own book hand printed by Thee Hellbox Press. The historical narrative is well written and well researched, and while Merilyn never goes too in depth about the history of books, she provides ample information that coordinates with each stage of the bookmaking process as she goes through it. She handles the multitude of stories within the historical portions of the book quite well; they are always well written and comprehensive without distracting from the main narrative. The writing has a bit of a stream of consciousness feel to it as Merilyn winds her way through history, memories, musings on books in general and the consistent narrative of working with Thee Hellbox Press. Contemplative, lyrical, and intelligent, this is a real treat for book lovers (particularly the ones you find smelling books in the aisles and caressing embossed covers while swooning over endpapers) or anyone who's ever wondered about the bookmaking process. #amreading #book #bookstagram #bookreview #memoir #reflectivewriting #autobiography #bookmaking #history #reading #misskateshappen https://www.instagram.com/p/BmxNc9rBEiq/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5rz57ir4h62b

Technology truly helped us in various ways that we couldn’t even count.  It changed our way of living and helped us to live our everyday life without experiencing so much hassle.  In this era that we are in today, the advancement of technology continues and is being prioritized, as it is incorporated in our daily lives and all of its aspects. It changed the way individuals communicate, learn, and think.  We use the products of technology and the technology itself to accomplish our tasks; whether it’s for school, work, or even for just socializing. During this COVID-19 pandemic, the world gave us a magnified view on how technology is really essential in our lives. One of those is, technology enabled us to conduct classes even though physical classes became inappropriate because of the situation that we’re currently in today.  As a STEM student, Empowerment Technology is one of our subjects for the first semester.
Empowerment Technology enables you to learn more and to provide you knowledge about the history, advantages, as well as the disadvantages of technology. During the first half of the first semester, I learned about the web timeline and that’s the time I knew that most of the websites that I use are in Web 2.0 where people can collaborate or interact with the page unlike the Web 1.0. One of the most memorable lessons we tackled is the “netiquettes” or the proper etiquettes when using the internet to keep you safe while browsing. It is very important because nowadays malwares and phishing can easily victim you if you visit an untrusted site. I also learned how to manipulate graphics and texts, create a website, and use different apps. I learned the basics that I am lacking through the years and including those is how to use MS Excel. Meanwhile, during the second half of the first semester, it is more on execution of what we had learned. We learned how to create a magazine and an ICT project. For me, these particular activities during this grading really helped me grow. I know that I can use this knowledge that I have earned if I am going to start a business once I grow older or even just to promote myself as an engineer or doctor – depending on who I want to be. ICT helps an advocacy to reach a huge amount of people in a shorter time span compared to advocacies that do not incorporate ICT. With that being said, knowing the basic and most important things about promoting would really do you a favor towards achieving your goals faster. With all the knowledge I had earned, I also learned how to collaborate with my group mates to reach our common goal. Aside from the technology itself, I am very thankful that Empowerment Technology taught me how to efficiently collaborate with other people because teamwork is really important no matter what field of profession you are in.
Before, I was not really a “techie” person and I only have a very limited experience and knowledge about technology and ICT. But all of that changed when this COVID-19 pandemic came. I realized how truly essential technology is for us and if you chose not to enhance your knowledge and skills about it, you would be left out because the world is continuously evolving. Almost all of the aspects of our lives became ICT-inclined. However, remember to only use the technology for your benefit and for the benefit of others as well. Technology is a powerful tool, so don’t use it to harm anyone. Because, the true purpose of technology is not to confuse the brain but to serve the body.

Reflective Writing...
Reflective writing enhances the way we perceive our actions and is a means for development in our skills. Emma, from study skills library group, delivered the session today. One of the critical things explained was the procedure that we should undertake before writing reflectively.
I learnt that reflective writing is not just about stating facts. It is essential to document what you gained, what contributed to your insights and how, and finally, what do you understand from what happened, and how the things you learnt can be applied to your professional practice.
In general, I find writing challenging, though this session helped me to shift my perspective on writing. I discovered that the more specific about your feelings, the better your reflective writing is. It was helpful to know that the more you note down regarding the session, the more natural the writing will be, as it is not sufficient to write the blog in like a story form. Writing reflectively is not just about what you are passionate about it is also about what you are not passionate about and how it can affect you in your practice. On the one hand, I realised today that the brief asks us to record our activities weekly. However, I have been recording it per session. I believe that it works out better to record my weekly activities per session as it will allow me to reflect more on what happened and in more depth, and so I will be carrying out my writing in the same way I commenced.
Dundee and Angus college state that: " Writing reflectively will allow you to develop an understanding of how you learn and what you know" and this is precisely what I have learnt in today's session.

Throwing money like beans, If could get the support, If the cheques of education, Could clear the self doubts, If the discussion of careers, Could stop the turmoil of thoughts, Then I would owe a million pieces, To ones who stood at a distance, The mind was tattered like a cloth, If the wise hello’s could sew those moments, Then I would owe million pieces, To ones who stood at a distance, Pretending it was fine after all, Whom does the lost time belong? Or the cold nights in festive lights, Or the corner of that wall, They always will think it was made easy, Like a silver spoon on a tongue, Hardly would they hear the screams, The tolls of factoids, which stole the peace in all. Then I would owe million pieces, To ones who stood at a distance, The Rhythm of the life was never their song. . . . . . . #writewritewrite #who #losttime #easytosay #happy #reflectivewriting #factoids #peace #clouds #wanderlust (at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)) https://www.instagram.com/writeatup/p/Bt_hCHLB_4eFzwGXl53wUnslY1LMTGX7rAVVkM0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1r5eopk76apis
