Fellas, is it wrong to impersonate your dead husband to reclaim his throne and then make out with his former bestie —who is also a woman— in front of his secret grave in the forest?

I do play a lot of games, ok?
Since I’m back here, with more space for WORDS, I figured I’d write a separate ttrpg intro.
Currently playing
A very busy God of Fulfillment in Defiant. Poor lad is struggling to find enough time for his spouse, submissive, charge and others.
A lizardfolk rogue in a heavily house-ruled Spelljammer campaign (sidenote: house-ruled only because the Spelljammer setting from WotC failed to provide a ruleset that works)
A suave thief in Delta Green: Impossible Landscapes. His sanity has dropped so much he’s probably going to die soon.
A socially awkward but very meticulous replicant in Blade Runner.
Currently running
Odyssey of the Dragonlords from Arcanum Worlds - excellent campaign set in a fantasy world inspired by Ancient Greece, way better than anything I’ve read from WotC.
Completed this year
A two-year KURO Makkura and Tensei campaign where I played an ex-monk exorcist. He was the only player character to survive. Ended up becoming the Emperor’s onmyōji.
A four-year D&D 5e homebrew campaign where I played a Tiefling Bard. We saved our world from an Ilithid invasion, fought them on the moon and killed god. My boy survived till the end and married his genasi girlfriend. They’re now hopping across different worlds and collecting fun mementos.
A one-year Liminal campaign where the PCs stopped a cabal of Necromancers trying to attain immortality by harnessing life force from supernatural creatures.
A three-year Changeling: the Lost campaign where the PCs went against a Fae who plotted to become a God of Death. They stopped the Fae’s rebirth cycle and trapped them in their pyramid in Arcadia.
Future plans
Hoping to play or run (or both) a Forged in the Dark game. Currently eyeing Rebel Crown.
Awaiting the arrival of my CY_BORG copy. Let’s hope it gets delivered this week.
Planning to run a choice of scenarios set in the Blue Rose setting on D&D 5e. I really adore Blue Rose but the AGE system does not agree with me or my group. 5e is hardly perfect but at least everyone at the table is familiar with it.
Revisiting Thirsty Sword Lesbians for a series of loosely connected one-shots.
Finding my perfect neo-noir ttrpg.
#ttrpg#spelljammer#defiant#delta green#impossible landscapes#blade runner#odyssey of the dragonlords#kuro#liminal#changeling the lost#forged in the dark#rebel crown#cy_borg#blue rose#thirsty sword lesbians#i played 91 games this year and I've got 4 more scheduled#that's like 320 hours spent gaming

Seungu how DARE you call back so many chapters like this, to a completely different time when he couldn't trust her enough to even touch his hair
And now he's beaming at her because he knows exactly what she's doing
please be happy you two dorks
#milaowm#my in laws are obsessed with me#my in-laws are obsessed with me#ugh this otp#I think the panels really speak for themselves when you put them side by side like this#I really need to read S1 properly again coz I keep seeing glimpses of things that seemed to hint at stuff happening now in S2#the Schwartz rebels for instance#I have to share the crown princess' question: what ARE you thinking Theo#you're no fool politically and strategically speaking#so what is happening here#also absolutely nothing clever or new to add to this comparison#I really wish I did but I'm just here squealing in delight

narinder as a kit, before his ascension to godhood.
he's a half-cat, half-jackal hybrid. his mother, a black cat, had to go on the run after she and his father were caught as conspirators against the crown. she had to abandon him in a remote village in shamura's territory for his safety, and because she couldn't care for him while fleeing from hunters.
narinder spent his summer months there being a nuisance to the villagers, forced to survive by stealing food and other necessities from homes. once the winter rolled around, he found himself homeless with no shelter from the snowstorms.
by the time shamura found him, curled up in snow underneath the shelter of an offering statue, he was almost frozen to death. it was a miracle he survived with no frostbite.
they took him in and raised him as part of their cult. narinder grew up to be their war advisor and confidante, and--when he eventually took on the red crown and gained his third eye--a fellow god of the old faith.
#bit nervous about this one bc it's a bit. out there#especially without nari's third eye he isn't half as recognizeable#but some people have said they enjoy jackal nari so#more jackal nari#narinder#my shit#idk i find it ironic that the son of two rebels went to work for the purple crown#it tickles my fancy

District 12 AU, one of Coriolanus' and Lucy Gray's daughters dates a Peacekeeper.
One of them would and I know exactly who XD
That sounds like a job for Clementine, who doesn’t like to follow the rules her father set her life after especially as a young adult. She wants to have free choices and make her own decisions that define the safety her parents laid out for her. Probably meet the young fella at the Hob during her families Show.
She’s almost a spitting image of her mother with her charms and looks. That fresh new peacekeeper never stood a chance and Coriolanus is going to make his life a living nightmare.
_______
Coriolanus: he’s touching her, I know it and he’ll pay for it-
Lucy Gray: don’t be so dramatic a little bit of hand holding or a kiss on the cheek never killed anyone, it’s not a felony-
Coriolanus: *side eye*
Lucy Gray: what…oh…OH!
Coriolanus: yeah, exactly-
Lucy Gray: hmmm *cough* hypocrite *cough*
#tbosas#snowbaird#papa snow powers activate#Lucy Gray is just vibing#calling her husband out on his bs#Coriolanus snow panems biggest hypocrite#wearing that crown like a king#Clementine is just trying to live a bit qwq#and define her father#rebel phase#alternate universe

"The division between the two families [the Woodvilles and the Nevilles] and their allies can be seen in the royal charters that they witnessed. Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville of York, while serving as chancellor and afterwards, were fairly constant witnesses to royal charters and consequently often appeared together. This was not, however, the case for other family members and friends. From 1466 to 1469, if Scales or Woodville associates like Sir John Fogge, John Lord Audley or Humphrey Lord Stafford of Southwick witnessed royal charters, then members of the Neville group, such as John Neville, earl of Northumberland, or John Lord Wenlock would not, and vice versa. Discounting the ubiquitous Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville, of the twenty-four charters issued between February 1466 and June 1469, twelve were witnessed by men associated with the Woodvilles, eight by men associated with the Nevilles and two were witnessed by no member of either group beyond the two earls at their heads and the archbishop; only two charters, both from 1466, featured associates of both families.
Such striking segregation of witnesses suggests that something more than simple convenience or availability was at play. [...] The evidence of these witness lists does show the extent of the split between the two groups from early in Edward's [first] reign and of the need for political society to work with that cleavage in the heart of the Yorkist regime."
-Theron Westervelt, "Royal charter witness lists and the politics of the reign of Edward IV"
*This is specifically applicable for Edward IV's first reign; in contrast, the charters in his second reign displayed a great deal of aristocratic and domestic unity and cohesion.
#the woodvilles#edward iv#wars of the roses#richard neville 16th earl of warwick#my post#elizabeth woodville#Obviously I hate the idea of Elizabeth and her family being seen as a social-climbing invasive species who banished the old nobility and#drove Warwick/Richard into rebellion and dominated the government and controlled the king and were responsible for Everything Wrong Ever#but I also dislike the 'revisionist' idea that they were ACTUALLY just passive and powerless bystanders or pawns who kept to their#social “place” (whatever the fuck that means). Frankly speaking this is more of a diminishment than a realistic defense.#the 'Queen's kin' (as they were known at the time) were very visible at court and demonstrably influential and prominent in politics#and as this shows there DOES seem to have been a genuine division/conflict between them and the Nevilles during Edward's first reign#(which DID directly lead to the decline of Neville dominance in England though the maintained honored positions and influence of their own)#Especially since Edward's second reign was entirely void of any such divisions - instead the nobility were united and focused on the King#even Clarence and Gloucester's long and disruptive quarrel over the Warwick inheritance never visibly left its mark on charters#so the Woodville/Neville divide from the 1460s must have been very sharp and divisive indeed#And yes it's safe to say that Elizabeth Woodville was probably involved: whether in her own right or via support of her family - or both -#it's illogical to argue that she was uninvolved (even the supportive Croyland Chronicle writes that Edward was “too greatly influenced”#by her; she and her family worked together across the 1470s; she was the de-facto head in 1483; etc)#Enhanced by the fact that Elizabeth was the first Englishwoman to be crowned queen - meaning that the involvement of her#homeborn family marked the beginning of “a new and largely unprecedented factor in the English power structure” (Laynesmith)#This should be kept in mind when it comes to analyzing contemporary views of them and of Elizabeth's own anomalous position#HOWEVER understanding the complexity of the situation at hand doesn't mean accepting the traditionally vilified depiction of the Woodvilles#Warwick and the Nevilles remained empowered and (at least outwardly) respected by the regime#Whether he was driven by disagreements over foreign policy or jealousy or ambition - the decision to rebel was very much his own#Claiming that the Woodvilles were primarily responsible is ridiculous (and most of the nobility continued to support Edward regardless)#There's also the fact that Warwick took what was probably a basic factional divide and turned it into a misogynistic and classist narrative#of a transgressive “bad” woman who became queen through witchcraft and aggrandized a family of social-climbing “lessers” who replaced#the inherently more deserving old nobility and corrupted the realm - later revived and intensified by Richard III a decade later#ie: We can recognize their genuine division AND question the (false/unfair) problematic narrative around the Woodvilles. Nuance is the key.
