a lot of you got a kick out of my service dog’s battle jacket, so i thought i’d share some more pictures of the man himself.
i know people have a lot of stereotypes about what service dogs and their handlers are “supposed” to look like, and it confuses people to see a young, seemingly able bodied punk rocker with a service dog.
but i share this to say, that if you as a disabled person don’t see a life for yourself, you can create one. when i started to realize i was disabled almost 10 years ago, i certainly didn’t imagine this is where i’d be now. in fact, i didn’t even plan to making it to this point.
but a diagnosis doesn’t have to mean the end of the world. sometimes your world is just beginning. some people are of the belief that everything happens for a reason. me, not so much. i’ll never be grateful for the suffering i experienced in this world, but i will always, always be glad i chose to stay in it.
#sorry if this post is like. sappy and more emotional than usual#i know it’s kinda unnecessarily long but u guys like that sometimes#lmk if you want more service dog info im always happy to talk about him#punk#punk patches#diy#punk diy#disability#patches#actually autistic#patch inspo#punk subculture#cripple punk#c punk#disabled punk#chronically ill#service dog#disabled positivity#mental health#tw mental health

It’s ok to be disabled and happy. Being disabled does not mean you have to constantly suffer.

With all the love we give our hairy folks can we give the same love to our non hairy folk as well
Not in a “love the people who fit the societal norm” way just a “love the people who are losing hair.” Way
love the people who are balding
love the people who are bald
love the people who are loosing hair due to aging
love the people who are loosing hair due to medical reasons
love the people who can’t grow hair.
love the people who stop growing hair.
Should body hair be normalized? Yes of course. Body hair is a “normal” part of being human. But not all humans are “normal”. Recognize that there are disabled people who don’t have body hair or maybe any hair. Look at them and appreciate them. Love them just the same.
#Hi sorry I was thinking about a body hair appreciation poll post#And the fact that op wasn’t allowing people to say none. Which I get was supposed to have someone look positively at themselves#And I doubt op knew but the erasure was kinda sad to me#Sorry in a certain type of mood#body positive#Bald#balding#alopecia#disabled#disability pride

Hey, if you have speech impediments, you are so amazing.
If you stutter or have a lisp or misspeak easily or you have a flat affect or a limited verbal vocabulary or if your voice is AAC or if you just have a difference in your vocality, you are so incredibly important and amazing.
Just know that your voice is yours. Nobody will ever be able to truly take it away. Your voice is part of you, and you deserve to make it as true to you as you deem fit. I hope you have the space to grow with your voice and whatever about it makes it unique.
#positivity#disability positivity#partially because so much of voical differences arise from disability#i've developed a really annoying lisp-ish issue#and it's hard to be positive about it because it makes me feel like i'll be treated as lesser because it's a 'childish' affect#but i literally can't help it unless i spend 110% of my focus on it. and i don't have that amount of energy#but it makes me think about others and especially those who have it more intensely than i do#and i just want to uplift everybody because vocal differences are neutral at worst#man my dad always tells a story about this coworker he had who had a stutter like you wouldn't believe...#...and he was fucking BRUTALIZED for it... 'c-c-c-c-CAN YOU GET TO THE POINT?!' is how people would talk to him...#...and obviously that made his stutter twice as fucking worse and i can't imagine the shame and humiliation that followed...#...i hope he learned that those assholes were a fucking waste of time and that he doesn't have to deal with that...#...like i'm sorry but there is no fucking need to be that sadistic toward somebody who is obviously already anxious and worried

i swear i´m gonna start biting dog trainers if they don´t stop comparing dogs with behavioural issues to autistic people
#i´m already a bit tired of the constant comparison to children because dogs are not children and i understand that with some people#you have to use that language to make them understand that positive reinforcement is a better way to train dogs than beating the shit out o#them but at a certain point you have to use appropriate language for the animals you actually work with#but that whole thing aside. people with autism are not dogs. you can´t just uncritically talk about clicker training autistic children in#your dog training books and blogs.#like unrelated to opinions on behavioural therapy for children you just CAN NOT compare people who have a mental disability to animals#either they stop or they will be bitten by me the autistic guy called Bark

Harry's world/Bad end
Inspired by Christina's world by Andrew Wyeth
#I dont think people talk about the bad end enough#this is the social murder game you guys#i dunno#my health took a bit of a decline recently and my doctor forgot to get me a refill on my meds in time and it got me thinking#disability puts a person in such a vulnerable position#it doesnt matter how well Harry solves the case or how upstanding of an officer he tries to be#one drink is all it takes and he is left to die#he cant even run after them anymore... he doesnt even know where he lives#he's nothing but an addict to them#reduced to an animal... grovelling in the dirt#used for all hes worth and then thrown away once he cant work anymore#ive written about the bad end before and ill get back to it(after my fic about his mom is done) when i get the energy for it#its just so compelling!!#does anybody hear me???#disco elysium#harry du bois#disco elyisum fanart#my art#illustration#also some people in the fandom do NOT see disabled ppl and addicts as people and it shows#ITS THE SOCIAL MURDER GAME

trying not to start an online fight in a comically inappropriate venue, but people also have some genuinely concerning misconceptions about this, so: if someone tells you that they can't go vegan because of dietary restrictions, you do not know more than they do about those restrictions in question. and they are under no obligation to share personal medical details in order to prove that you are wrong.
moreover, a world in which anyone has to "prove" their need for dietary accommodations to any authority — to say nothing of being denied them a priori because of a refusal to engage with even small scale, ethical animal husbandry — is enacting ableist violence on our bodies. personally, I want nothing more than for for-profit animal agriculture to burn with the rest of capitalism — but you have to understand that telling people like me to "just stop being selfish and stop eating animals" can only be translated as either "only eat things that make you violently ill," or "stop eating even the minimum amount of protein that a human can survive off of."
if you have an impulse to accuse me of overreacting, consider that the refusal of actual medical institutions to take legume and grain allergies seriously has caused me bodily harm throughout my life and to this day — with consequences for my overall lifespan that have yet to be revealed. I am not overreacting.
#as always i feel the need to say that to the vegans who Aren't Like This (especially the disabled vegans)#i'm so fucking sorry for putting this on your dashes because i know you all deal with so much unwarranted shit#wholeheartedly i think veganism is one of the most amazing individual choices a person can make#it's just. the things that *certain people* will say to me about it.#ableism#allergyposting#i JUST made a dietary restriction positivity post where i expressed my sympathies to people dealing with this bullshit#and within 24 hours i was subjected to the bullshit myself. sad#this is why i can't just engage in discussions about food ethics#because a vocal minority of people just refuse to listen#or to envision a future that doesn't just replicate modern-day ableism and food injustice in an environmentally friendly guise

Absolute stunning misogyny from the person who messaged me with, "Oh, you're on your period, that's why you're being a total bitch today."
As though I'm not a total bitch every other day of the month. Sheesh.
#I assume this is about the book post#but if not#glad I pissed you off anyway#if it's not about the books it's probably a disability post#those ones always get people annoyed#especially when you call them 'the temporary ableds' to remind them that time is a ceaseless force#and no amount of kale smoothies and positive thinking will save them

First day of Pride and I just want to shine a light on all the trans people who are unable to transition, especially those who aren’t fresh faced university grads. Those who don’t live in a supportive or even just accepting home or community. Those who aren’t well off, those who aren’t good at or popular enough to crowd fund. Those who can’t afford transitioning. Those who can’t even transition socially or need to stay in the closet for your safety. Those who rely on benefits or unforgiving jobs to just pay the bills. Having to hear day in and day out you’re just GNC, that your pre-transition body is “ugly” and the ways you can express your gender are “cringe.” Every trans person who’s been told they aren’t “trying hard enough”. Those trans people who won’t even get to imagine transitioning for years.
I see you. I love you. You’re so undervalued and under appreciated in a world where being a white, well off 20 year old on HRT and getting surgery is more common to see than people who work full time and just don’t have that privilege. It sucks, so much. But you are loved and you are seen.
Happy Pride Month to trans people who aren’t where they want to be. The world is better with you in it. We all need each other.
#nobody seems to give a fuck about trans people who haven’t ‘started’ (fuck that word btw) before they turn 20 honestly#like we just don’t exist to you#so if no one is going to tell other trans people who are ‘too old’ that they’re loved and important and deserving of support#fuck it I will#all the trans visibility goes to people who meet the right criteria who fit society’s idea of Trans#fuck that. y’all are wonderful and handsome and beautiful#and if you never get to transition YOURE STILL TRANS AND YOU STILL DESERVE JOY#I don’t fuck with queer groups anymore coz they cannot be normal#you ostracise your most vulnerable#because fuck poc poor disabled ‘old’ trans people amirite#iswtg the trans community here is so weird about age too#you’re 30 and still have your legal name and long hair and visible breasts and a high voice? faker obviously. don’t want it hard enough.#THIRTY?!?#yeah get fucked#sorry for being so pissed but seriously#grow up if you think all trans people have their shit sorted by 24 and are living comfortably as themselves#pull your head out of your ass and go TALK to trans people other than your rich circle of teens at your GSA#I’ve not been terribly positive on this positivity post#pride month#transgender#ftm#mtf#nonbinary#every single one of you is braver than any us marine and I FUCKING MEAN THAT#we all stick through this together#trans awareness

shoutout to all the regressors and caregivers that struggle with their headspaces. that have a hard time getting into their headspace when they want to. that want to do certain things when in their headspace but don't have the energy to, or lack the motivation, or struggle to follow through with their plans. who enter their headspace involuntarily. who want to have physical gear or relationships related to their headspace, but can't. shoutout to everyone who can't interact with their headspace in exactly the way they want to- we see you and love you. be kind to yourselves, it's ok- you have plenty of time to experience your regression/caregiving the way you want 💚
#tried to make this general!#but we've just been thinking about all the things we'd LIKE to do related to regression or even caregiving#but are unable to either because of our environment/safety or disability or just energy#so shoutout to everyone else that experiences that please go at your own pace and know that you have time#confluence.txt#agere positivity#sfw agere

s2 of arcane was a major disappointment to me all things considered. it was gorgeous and i can't deny that; i fully enjoyed watching it, but its plot was overcrowded and it completely abandoned everything that happened in s1. silco and vander's sacrifices, the fight for zaun's independence.. it was all completely undermined by the war. countless lives lost and for what? we got a glimpse of what zaun and piltover could have been, but in our timeline everyone was fighting the arcane and ambessa rather than the oppressive piltover. it wasn't about the undercity and topside anymore. it just felt kind of nothingburger to me which was disappointing considering how much the first season elicited emotion
#idk man im just talkking. im just saying my thoughts#i just feel like.... really dissatisfied#arcane spoilers#arcane#i also really hated the whole thing jayce said at the end about viktor's leg not being a negative aspect of him#idk . im disabled and it made me feel weird. that's not to speak for everyone obviously#anyways his disability originated from the grey iirc#viktor had reason to absolutely HATE topside and he still wanted to unite the two communities#he would've been much more interesting as a direct antagonist sort of in silco's position than the route that was taken#do i think he ever would've taken that antagonistic route considering his nature? no..#i understand why he wanted unification. painlessness.#it just almost felt like the first season didn't matter at all WHICH SUCKED!!#and none of the deaths made me feel anything because none of them were done in a way that really elicited emotion in my opinion ESPECIALLY#ESPECIALLY heimerdinger's. we barely had time to process it#whateverrr whatever
