Can I say that the popplio line having all stages being based on types of entertainers very cool
Like popplio being based on a clown, brionne on a dancer and primarina being based on a opera singer
I just find it neat that the desingers who created these pokemon were able to fit all these types of entertainers in one evolution line
YESSSSS
Finally someone that can appreciate good design!
I never understood the argument that new starters are "characters not monsters". Even from gen 1 the starters have had personality implemented in their designs. And it makes sense because animals have personality as well.
The pokemon fanbase is filled of try hards if you ask me. The games are bad, but it's not the character designers' fault. Blame capitalism not the guy that's trying to not starve.

Ok just saw a pokemon hot takes video with some of the coldest takes imaginable, gonna give some actually hot takes to make up for it.
-The Lets Go games are great, theyā€™re just not for long term pokemon fans.
-Gen 6 had the best selection of new pokemon introduced, Gen 2 had the worst
-On that note, Gen 2 starters are the worst starter trio, they all have very boring designs.
-The Delphox and Primarina lines have great designs
-Far too many Gen 5 pokemon have way too high level requirements, despite their awesome designs.
-Gen 5s story is only the best Pokemon story because the most of the other storys in pokemon are ether generic (Gen 1), underdeveloped (Gen 6), or just straight up bad (Gen 8). Outside of that context, Gen 5s story is just ok
-If Gen 7 cut back on the tutorials and cutscenes in the beginning, then it be one of the most highly regarded pokemon games
-Had USUM been true sequels to SM, like B2W2 was to BW, then Gen 7s story would be the best in the franchise by a mile
-Lycanroc is a missed opportunity of a pokemon. Dusk Lycanroc has no reason too exist.
-On paper, DLC is far superior then a third version. (In practice? Not so much, but I probably wouldnā€™t call that part a hot take)
And probably my hottest take:
-Nobody used the National Dex enough for there to be so much outrage at its removal.

Pokemon Hot Takes. In a mood.
- Pokemon Green Mew is my favorite Mew
- Pokemon sprites in Gens 1 and 2 hit different
- Gen 1 OU is the best metagame.
- Ive never played it, but Gen 3 OU is probably what competitive Pokemon should strive to be like.
- It's extremely dumb that the official competitive format for PokƩmon looks absolutely nothing like the single player campaign.
- Oricorio has the most fun ability in the series
- Doubles should be the default format in PokƩmon. The most interesting moves, abilities, and Pokemon in the series are completely worthless during casual playthroughs because they don't function in singles.
- Pokemon should have standardized its BSTs a long time ago. There's power creep, and then there's not being able to use your favorite Pokemon because they've always sucked.
- Pokemon shouldn't bother with having main stories. It's much more charming to take the approach of having a bunch of small stories and lore tidbits.
- HMs aren't a bad idea, they were just handled in the worst way humanly possible. Reference, literally any fan game that changes the concept even a little.
- Defog is a lame move. Heavy Duty Boots might have been an interesting item if item claus was standard in singles, but it really just isn't very interesting atm. Pursuit should never have been removed. Hidden Power is a lame move. Substitute isn't a fun move to deal with (and it often breaks the AI in singleplayer).
- Gen 1 Hyperbeam and early gen Explosion are the best designed moves in the series. They're very fun to use in PvP.
- Every ability should be able to accomplish something in battle. Random utility abilities aren't very interesting.
- Pokemon's method of capture isn't fun. It needs to be reworked in a way that makes it less RNG heavy. It's not fun throwing balls at something for 5+ minutes on end. If you status a PokƩmon on Red health and throw an Ultra Ball at it, that should have a 100% capture rate, regardless of the PokƩmon.
- Shedinja is fucking cringe. It's not fun to fight in single player, it's not fun to use in single player, and it's very not fun to fight in PvP.
- Metronome battles are extremely fun and my only complaint is that the move should be tailored to have higher odds of funnier moves being pulled. Like, it's very funny having your Pokemon use Celebrate, Judgement, Fly, Explosion. It's very lame when your Pokemon uses Water Gun, Shadow Claw, Tackle.
- More Pokemon should be designed like Lando-T, Gen 3 Starmie, Gen 3 Ttar, VGC Arcanine, Gen 2 Snorlax, etc. where they can do a lot of different things at a time depending on the team's needs without breaking the game with any one thing.
- Set-up moves are way too powerful in singles. They're fine in doubles because they're high risk high reward, but they aren't fun to deal with in singles. They're also not very interesting to use in the single player game, especially since most of them are either useless or overpowered, with minimal in-between.
- the type chart should be simplified. There's no reason for rock and ground to be different types. Flying doesn't need to be a type when you consider that it took, like, a decade for a Pokemon that's pure Flying to be released. Dark and Ghost don't need to be different types. Dragon doesn't need to have its own type. Most Dragon types either don't really look like dragons or could've been given a different type. Normal and Fighting don't need a distinguisher. But also, Normal needs more going on. Psychic and Fairy don't need to be different types either. Bug is just a very sad typing.
- Ice should be reworked into a defensive type. Most ice types are slow defensive PokƩmon despite their typing being an active hindrance to the concept.
- Stealth Rocks would be a well designed move in PvP if it wasn't excessively punishing to pokemon weak to Rock. No PokƩmon should lose half of their HP when switching in on a game reliant on swapping in and out PokƩmon regularly. It just needlessly cripples too many PokƩmon and makes x4 rock weak PokƩmon basically be required to either be ridiculous offensive threats or obsolete. Which ruins the usability of otherwise cool and staple PokƩmon like Moltres. It also doesn't help that Stealth Rocks is useless in single player and niche, at best, in Doubles and VGC, but it's omnipresent in 6v6 singles.
- Moves should have more standardized power levels. It's not very interesting in single player going "time to replace ember with incinerate because incinerate has 10 more base power." And it would be nice to see a few more options for STAB than we typically get.
- Evasion shouldn't be in the game. Or, at least, it shouldn't block damage from happening in its entirety. It's not fun in single player, and it's very unfun in PvP. It's basically banned from every format that does bans because it's so uncompetitive and badly designed.
- Same sentiment holds for Attract, Confusion, Paralyze Chance, Crits (especially in gens 2-5), Sleep Duration, Flinch Chance, Low Accuracy Moves. The problem isnt the RNG, the problem is that there just shouldn't an instance where a move only might accomplish nothing when pressed. Especially in faster paced metagames. The worst offenders are 90% and 95% accuracy moves and Focus Blast. This isn't fun in the single player campaign, and it's so much worse in PvP. This problem gets exponentially worse the faster paced a metagame is.
- IVs were a terrible idea and should be removed from the game. They're a major barrier to entry for PvP.
- EVs are a good idea but I dislike their implementation. First of all, the way the numbers are calculated is weird. The way you gain them requires looking up a wiki if you want to interface with the mechanic outside of Pokemon Showdown. And the max amount should be enough to fully fill 2.5 stats instead of 2 stats plus 4 extra EVs to throw onto one stat.
- Shiny Pokemon should have a 0.5 - 1% chance of appearing. It's unreasonable for them to be even 0.1%, and the actual number is much lower than that. If they were more common, shinies would be a really good addition to the gameplay loop.
- Zoroark would be a better PokƩmon if it had multiple abilities to choose from. As it is, the Pokemon's entire gimmick is ruined by team preview. Zoroark also should've been a support pokemon instead of a set-up sweeper. If it had moves like Glare.

What do you know- I'm trying out the askbox *eyes*
anyway I just wanted to say that high-key I think I'd follow any content you make at this point bc your art brings me so much joy. That doesn't tend to happen super often since i am,,,, very much so a hyperfixation-focused person HAHA
regardless I'm not exactly quiet about it but I adore your art and I look forward to each new time you post :D
I WISH i had the capability of pumping out art like you do bc man while I love to draw and have so many ideas all the time picking up the pencil is Hard Dude.
Also! In a recent post you mentioned the whole Twin Dragons AU and HC that people love to have- I'd be super curious as to your opinion on it!
-( ā•¹ā–½ā•¹ )
I SEE YOUR TAGS AND IM.
Tumblr media
Iā€™ll have to slow down at some point on that Submas Grind, but the hyperfixation throes are REAL. Thank you for inhabiting the tunnels with me! People that tag and cheer artists on are the real mvps of the art economy.
As for twin dragon aus!
Iā€™ve always seen Emmet as more zekrom esque, and Ingo more reshiram esque. Is it cause the typing matches their starters? Maybe, hehe.
Ultimately though, the guys are too multifaceted for me to easily split them into truth and ideals.
I also see the legendaries as Eldritch Abominations Beyond Understanding, so having the dragons in my iteration become the twins would, uh, have consequences. The funny goofy story would dip into horror territory instead. (Reshiram demands only truths, and anything not Absolute will burn. And zekromā€™s ideals are beyond human understanding, and trying to understand the mad tangle of thunder would drive somebody insane.)
(Iā€™m a huge tma fan. Can you see it? Man.)
((Also Nā€™s a scary mofo for summoning reshiram. Iā€™m digging directly into the whole ā€œtwin heroes have a civil war and it destroyed unovaā€ backstory that pokemon set up, and the more I think about it the stronger my dread mounts at the idea of Zekrom OR Reshiram casually flying overhead.
But this is also just how I see the legendaries of the pokemon world! Lugia sinks islands. Groudon covers towns. Arceus loves the mortal world, and mourns because its immortality only brings grief. Giritina hates, because itā€™s the ghostly remains of every one of Arceusā€™s mistakes given drive, banished into the distortion realm. Normal stuff!)
You sly dog, you got me monologing! But hereā€™s the tldr: Not sure iā€™ll ever make my own serious Dragon AU that follows my internal world building for pokemon. Iā€™m too attached to my favorite trope: ā€œthe smallest people can still initiate the biggest of changesā€, and Iā€™m too attached to my other favorite trope: ā€œlegendaries are actually gods and you Should Be Frightened.ā€
So thatā€™s why, in this essay, if the trio gets turned into pokemon, Iā€™d make them route 1 run of the mill rats. Because rats can do whatever they want.
(Plus, patrats and pachirisu arenā€™t banned from the subway battles last I checked.)
If i had to make a goofy crack dragon au though, I think this would be the result:
Tumblr media
The whole story would just be the trio and historians trying to figure out what the hell the twins got turned into, and concerns of other people becoming pokemon as well. So far, people are convinced theyā€™re a paradox version of an archen. (I meanā€¦)
(Alternate take of THAT, where elesa gets turned into a victini.)

A Pokemon Headcanon of Mine that would probably get me KILLED:
Tumblr media
I donā€™t ship Ash with anyone, to be honest!
And thatā€™s why I Headcanon him to beā€¦ Aroace!!
I like to Headcanon that his strengths come from the friendships he makes throughout his adventures, and he just doesnā€™t have time to commit to anything romantic. Some of the girls may have a crush on him, but he just sees them as his friends, and in return; they see him as their friend. (Sorry shippers)
Thatā€™s just me, tbh.

Are there any three stage Pokemon that got a mega evo/G-Max where you think the mega evo/G-max is better than the actual third form?

Hot take, Lusamine should not have huge breasts. The lithe and elegant look of at most B Cups looks better on her.
On top of that, she is a bad mom and doesn't deserve that symbol of maternity in her character design.

sometimes voloposting is like 'here is a man far-removed from the ancient lost people he is descended from, trying in vain to reconnect with a forgotten culture of which very little remains, desperately desiring to meet the ancient god they worshipped, both out of his own desire to worship it as they did, and his wrathful desire to tear it down and take its power for himself to make the world what it should be, a better world in which he doesn't have to settle for scraps and ruins and isolation and peddling his wares and customer service smiles to ignorant travelers, being forced to come to terms with the reality that his god has been doing worse than ignoring him- it acknowledged his existence by sending some random child who doesn't even fully understand what it is they're doing as its favored chosen champion just to stop him.' and sometimes voloposting is like 'he's soooooooooooooo silly double tap when you the skrunkly <3 <3 <3 <3 i'm gonna hit him with my car'

I will never understand why they picked Celestial by Ed Sheeran for the end of ScarVi?? It was so jarring hearing it during the credits. I would have much preferred something original, preferably instrumental?
I also feel like it could date the game pretty badly, and it opens the door for licensing issues later on
Not necessarily a dig at Ed Sheeran btw. My sister is a huge fan, and while Iā€™m not a fan of his music I have heard him perform live and he was great. He seems nice enough, and I know heā€™s a big pokemon fan, but it just feels like an odd choice to include his music at the end of the game, yā€™know?
Edit*
Just to clarify because my wording is a bit iffy. By original I mean the industry definition. Produced in whole by an artist/company, and not an existing piece of music. I didnā€™t mean to imply that Celestial wasnā€™t an original track made for Scarlet/Violet oops šŸ˜…

Don't ever normalize hating the main character of a show you still watch religiously unless you're not actually a fan of the show and you're just hate-watching. (A concept I don't understand in the first place, but... you do you, I guess)
Hate to break it to you but no one ever watches past the first season of any show while hating the protagonist and actually likes the show. That's pure hate-watcher mentality.
