I wrote nearly 3,000 words in between everything else I was doing since yesterday at around 7AM EST based on this.

Pikachu and evolution

I guess I was just thinking about this a bit. So, obviously, Ash's Pikachu does not want to evolve, and he's never going to choose to do that. As for Ash, he's made it quite clear it's not his choice to make, it's Pikachu's.

But I was sort of thinking about how the way we learn that Pikachu doesn't want to evolve was by him... slapping a Thunder Stone away with his tail.

Like... he definitely made contact with it, and nothing happened. In later episodes it doesn't take much for a stone evolution to trigger, even tiny particles of one on the wind can do it, and even in the case of Chloe's Eevee there was a visible glow and reaction even though it didn't work.

With Pikachu being able to use 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt and Gigantamax later on, well... at this point we have good reason to believe he actually just can't evolve in the first place. And with that in mind, this does fit with the rules later established about evolution stones.

Now, was this intentional? Heck no. The Clefairy in episode 6 all did the same thing, they were carrying around Moon Stones throughout the episode.

But it is interesting nevertheless.

... I'm not sure how Ash and Pikachu would ever discover Pikachu being unable to evolve because it's not like he's going to go around touching Thunder Stones of his own volition.

Eviolite would give it away but no way would it be allowed in official battles.

English Dub voice actress Rachael Lillis has passed away on August 10, 2024 at the age of 55 due to breast cancer.

Lillis is best known as the original English Dub voice actress of Misty, Jessie, and various pokémon such as Jigglypuff and Goldeen in the Pokémon anime. Her other well-known English dub roles include Utena Tenjō in Revolutionary Girl Utena, Martina in Slayers Next, Micott Bartsch in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Nagi Kirima in Boogiepop Phantom, Yuriko Star in The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Kanaka Ohno in Genshiken, and Ami Kurimoto in DNA².

The two of us running this blog, as well as all of Bulbagarden's staff members and users, would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Rachael Lillis, who passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 55.

It's truly difficult to properly convey the impact Rachael had on our lives, as she was the original voice actress of Misty and Jessie for eight seasons of the Pokémon anime, from 1998 to 2006. Her impact was not just felt in Pokémon, but also in titles such as Revolutionary Girl Utena and Hunter x Hunter, and it's safe to say that she was a beloved member of our fandom that will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts are with Rachael's family and loved ones as we take a moment to remember and commemorate her life and work, which will certainly never be forgotten.

Thank you, Rachael, and rest in peace.

I thought this fit them really well (I genuinely just wanted to draw them in tennis outfits fighting over Jessie 😂 I have an outfit I want to draw Jessie in too, if I ever find the time to get it done) and I have a few more ideas for this tennis AU, so fingers crossed I’ll get them drawn once things have settled down at work 🤞

I’m also advocating for a 🍉 family, their last two fundraisers resulted in their PayPal accounts being blocked by PayPal, so I'm organising on behalf of them with their permission and transferring the money raised to them through the bank (This is me being completely transparent for anyone that is uncomfortable, if you are, please do not donate, I will completely understand). (The money that was originally raised isn't lost, PayPal is holding on to it, but they can't fight to get it back in their current conditions since they're moving a lot and WiFi is unstable at the best of times. So if you donated before, do not worry, they'll be able to use that money to rebuild once they've evacuated to a safe place). I’m currently not open for commissions because I’m burnout from the last lot I’ve had to do (it’s the exact reason I don’t do commissions, but this is an emergency), but I am raffling off the Across the Spiderverse Artbook (never used, might as well be brand new) to anyone that donates at least €10. Also, if we manage to get to €7k I’ll draw James and Jessie in all of Barbie and Ken’s outfits from the live action Barbie movie (James will be dressed as Barbie and Jessie as Ken).
