I have had Epic the Musical on my mind lately, it just took me some time to decide what Pokemon to make Odysseus. I figured since he is a descendant of Hermes, his grandfather was canonically a shapeshifter, and he's known for being tricky and clever, kinda like a Fox...it made sense in my mind to make him a Zoroark. Maybe his son Telemachus would be a Rockruff cause he's the "Little Wolf"

In the story of Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus and his crew go through several metric ton of utter bullshit between interference from the Gods and Monsters alike on what should have been a pretty quick journey. The actual distance between Troy and Ithaca is about 560 nautical miles. Ancient Boats of their time and make could travel about 4-6 knots depending on conditions, and having just left a war the soldiers were probably short on supplies, so they may have needed to stop on islands along the way to hunt and forage. Without any outside obstruction it probably would have taken at least a week or two, at most about a month. Instead he was lost at Sea for 10 years missing his wife and son, and in his absence being presumed dead the Nobles of Ithaca decided one of them should be the next king and tried to forcibly marry his wife and kill his son.

Historically, we know that the Trojan war was a real event that took place around 1200 BCE, towards the end of the Bronze age because we have found the ruins of Troy. Also around the end of the Bronze age we see reference from multiple civilizations including from Egypt about a group we know as "The Sea People" who appeared to be of the Aegean Tribes aka Greeks, and these Sea People were known to engage in a LOT of Piracy and attacks on coastal civilizations...so the real story that probably inspired the Odyssey was not so much soldiers getting lost at sea for 10 years, but decided to go on a Pirating tour of the Mediterranean...So Technically Odysseus is also a Pirate.

Inspired by the fucked headache I had last week I came up with a new hc - when home, Edge will use an eyepatch over his left eye whenever he has/is getting a migraine, since the pain is worse on that side due to the scar

He would never wear it in public but that's not usually a problem since he becomes very light sensitive with migraines and wouldn't be leaving the house for anything less than a dire emergency anyway

ok ok so tbh in my head i was sort of counting the third and final part of the mermay au as the june ko-fi upload because it was technically posted june 1st in celebration of mer...june, but i got a few asks about if i was gonna post a proper june ko-fi fic and i decided like. sure! i can do that! and then i did <3 and now it's posted on ko-fi!

unfortunately im still on my water loving bullshit though, so this ko-fi fic is set in an au where obi-wan and anakin are pirate captains of different ships (obviously the Negotiator and the Resolute respectively) and they have a bit of a history. mostly they're just attracted to each other like magnets. mostly i just wanted to use the words breeches and tankards cause i think those words rock tbh

Anakin’s lips are soft and his thumb catches on the bottom one as Anakin speaks, slips slightly into his mouth. “I’ve found that many things are powerful motivators, Captain,” he replies as he takes a step forward, closing the distance between their bodies. “And some are much more pleasant than hatred." Anakin huffs out a laugh, lets him approach. Pushes closer. His eyes are dark in the moonlight. His eyes are fixed upon Obi-Wan. “I joined Dooku’s crew,” Anakin murmurs as if he thinks that they are still talking about his past. As if Obi-Wan is not interested in their future. “To find you again, Captain. To kill you.” “How very innovative of you,” he says and he removes his hand from Anakin’s face, drops it instead to his neck and curls it around his throat. It is not a threat.  Mostly. Anakin grins back at him. “You are an easy man to hate, Captain Kenobi,” he says. “I believe that your saving grace is that you’re also an easy man to want.” “And you want me,” Obi-Wan says, like it’s a fact. Like it’s a foregone conclusion. It feels as if it is.

do you guys ever think about how Jack's childhood probably left him with copious amounts of self-hatred that were then aggravated by the mutiny and how he's left stuck in this weird in-between space of craving affection and admiration while also needing everyone he knows to be aware of how bad and awful he is so they won't try to cross him which showcases itself through the increasingly complicated backstabbings he puts himself and Will and Elizabeth through to reach an end goal they all want because god forbid he be unlovable but god forbid he let someone pull out the rug from under him again

Pyrite

Did you know that sometimes Fossils that are formed in an oxygen deprived space can form form Pyrite (aka Fool's Gold)...So I decided from there I needed to make a Fossil Pokemon who's a Pyrite Pirate!

He was revived from a Pyritized Fossil, so his body has a shiny gold looking Pyrite coating. I don't have a lot more to say here about this guy right now. I just came up with them as a Pun
