I love, love, LOVE your speedrun comic, expecially the parts with Ace losing his mind and ASL reuniting. I am VERY curious as to how, exactly, this gremlin crew of half-feral children managed to negotiate an alliance with Whitebeard. My bet is Luffy just went “rearranges reality until it’s more to his liking and everybody is left wobbling dazedly”. Also, the Whitebeard Pirates thinking “this explains SO MUCH about Ace”.

An alliance implies equal footing, and to have equal footing with the greatest pirate alive is not something to scoff at. So good job Whitebeard for scoring an ETERNAL friendship with the pirate king 👍!!!!

Noonoo and her Pokemon pirate turtle crew! This was for the Trainersona: Summer Edition zine! I thought it would be fun to use an original character and her pirate crew for this.

Hijra Katoey is a Shiny Trans-girl Nidoking Pirate and member of the Torrent Pirate Crew. She calls herself "The Heiress" in direct confrontation and declaration of challenge to the "Pirate Empress" Kaida, another Trans-girl Pokemon Pirate who she will not admit that she was partially inspired by, but she sees Kaida as a rival and way too similar to her for comfort in some ways. Both Trans-girl Pirates who act like Pirate Royalty, both Poison types, both of them are expert swordswomen, and both of them want Absolute Freedom, but the ways they go about it were also different.

Kaida's direction towards Freedom is by uniting all pirates under one Pirate Empire that acted as a sort of Anarchist Republic where every pirate gets a say in making decisions, a tapestry of organized chaos. Crews make decisions with their captains, captains discussed decisions with other captains, and so on up the line to a council in charge of large groups of pirates from different regions all over the world.

Hijra's idea of freedom is a lot more direct. If you are Stronger than everybody else, then you make all your own decisions for yourself, and if anybody wants to stop you then you use your strength to take what you want!

Luffy

Uses the pokeballs that he finds the coolest looking, usually fastballs.

Chimchar just seems like the best starter option for Luffy, other being Grookey but I went with a fire type. There is several monkey pokemon that could be on his team, maybe he has them in the box.

Scizor and Heracross because Luffy loves collecting bugs, plus Scizor, Clobbopus and Breloom all fight using punches. Also Breloom has a hat and a shiny version is red.

Fighting type is also fitting for Luffy.

Talonflame as a reference to red hawk move.

Zoro

Doesn't care about pokeball types so uses plain npokeballs, with the exception of cherishball that holds Kuina's Gallade. Only has 3 pokemon, cause, you know.

All three pokemon seem selfexplanatory why I picked them for Zoro? Gallade's story was here.

He easily went through rock and grass gyms with Treecko and Charcadet but got stuck at fighting gym because of Kuina.

Nami

Uses luxuryballs, probably stollen.

Found shiny Purrloin in a trash as a kid and took it home. Has a team of sneaky cats with Meowth being a lucky charm in their heist.

Castform and Wingul as a reference to her navigation skills/role in canon.

Nickit could be on the team but I thought it'd fit Karina more with the whole cat and fox dynamic. Done it here.

Usopp

Bug collector and uses netballs, probably has every bug pokemon and a few shinies in the box.

His Heracross often spars with Luffy's.

Doesn't collect badges but somehow ended up earning one in a ghost gym.

Probably has Smeargle and Kecleon in the box.

Sanji

Is a sea cook so he fishes a lot, uses lureballs, diveballs and netballs, which is funny because I forgot to give him a water type on the team let's just say he has them in a box. He feeds wild pokemon.

Blaziken is just a pokemon version of Sanji pretty much and Tsareena seems right for his team… for several reasons.

Alcremie is just one of the many food related pokemon that Sanji probbaly has.

Ninetails and Zorua mainly because Sanji assosiates with a fox for me, been thinking of Alolan Vulpix line and Hisuian Zorua line as options too, but went with fire type because of Sanji's moves and a dark type for how sneaky he usually is during story arcs.

Gardevoir as a counterpart to Zoro's Gallade.

Been thinking of giving him Skiddo because of Oda's words that Sanji's animal self would be a goat and grass types just seemed fitting with all the ingredients that grow on themselves? Maybe a flying type too.

I always wanted to make the two beasts have a stand off.

I know Ingo would be super down for a fight but not with an opponent who‘s not consenting. If only Vincent‘s Pokemon husband was as well trained as Sneasler

And I was just practicing how to make better environments. Still got much to learn but it‘s getting somewhere.
