As the Ides of March approaches, I'd like to remind you that this coin exists.
Tumblr media
Brutus issued this denarius to commemorate the assassination of Caesar. I love how the coin is like:
It is time to celebrate the #idesofmarch, guys! #stab #stab #hat

Note
i just wanna say the reference to venus de milo in ur aphrodite design is literally genius omg??? anyways here are some tidbit thingies to help u design the rest of the god games dudes
ARES symbols: spear and helmet, dogs, vultures, venomous snakes, and boars
apparently theres a myth which states the reason he wears his helmet is because he’s ashamed of his feminine face but i cant find it so 🤷
HEPHAESTUS symbols: donkeys, guard dogs, cranes, hammer, anvil, a pair of tongs
he has a deformity in his right leg and usually wears a pileus (some greek hat)
APOLLO symbols: lyre, bows, ravens, crows, roe deer, swans, cicadas, hawks, foxes, mice, snakes, hyacinth or gladiolus flower
other than god of the sun he’s also god of poetry, healing, music, plagues, knowledge, order, prophecy, beauty, agriculture, and archery
also he apparently looks like a “beardless youth”
omg thank you!! both for the compliment and these ideas :D
i'm still working on them but these are my intial ideas.
ares
Tumblr media
i haven't really included his animals in his appearance here. but i'm currently thinking of adding a boar insignia to the back of his armor
and yea i've read about his baby face and i love the idea he wears the helmet cuz it doesn't fit his image. it makes him weirdly endearing? he's kind of adorable in that sense.
also it's not fully shown in these sketches but whereas athena's armour would be more elegant and more sleek, ares' would be scratched and stained with blood. his cape isn't shown her but that would be ripped - wheras athena's would be pristine
hephaestus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'm strugging with the hat but i'm rlly happy with his body. he doesn't have his mouth open here to see it but to ref donkies, he would have buck teeth! ofc i'm designing his hammer too, that's iconic.
and he would have clothes btw but i'm still figuring it out. idk if it's noticable here, but his chest is not symetrical.
i love how he's turning out sm
the orange will be paired with black and his clothes will reference lava in some way. i'm thinking of making his skin really dark but with bright orange markings.
like this lady
Tumblr media
apollo
no font yellow rip
Tumblr media
so the earings and necklace have the sun shape but lil music note bit on one of the rays. and there is a jewel in the middle of the circle to make it look like an eye to reference prophecies.
the hyacinths in the hair is temporary. i don't love it just by itself. i think it would look better if i kept this hairstyle but have a bun behind the hyacinths.
i think i achieved the beardless youth here. i've seen some good androgynous apollo designs so i wanted to put my own spin on it
also the sun tattoos/markings. artemis has moon ones so they match <3
Tumblr media
also here's a very quick concept for his lyre. the ends make swan heads and there's sun symbol too ofc

The Paris 2024 Olympics mascot is this really cute phrygian cap however it kind of annoys me because like. The phrygian cap is not a French thing NOR is it the cap freed slaves wore (apprently the goddess of liberty wore it. Not sure which came first)That was the pileus
Tumblr media
Unfortunately the pileus makes you look like a gnome. But like. I mean I know the pileus phrygian confusion is like 300 years old now but it's the wrong hat guys! You're just dressing up as ancient Persians! (I GUESS bc of it's use as a generic marker of foreignness you could argue it's a symbol of gaulic identity as distinct from Roman identity?)
ALSO the logo would be cuter if instead the little flop on the top was the head of a bird. Like. A phrygian cap is shaped like an adorable little round bird! You could even do a bit about like. Soaring to new heights or something. The ear flaps could be it's wings! The only kind of clever choice here is making the round eyes the Olympic medals (see the little ribbon?) And mostly that's just kind of weird, it makes me think about popping one of his eyes off and giving it to the winner

After Julius Caesar's assassination, Brutus had coins struck to commemorate the occasion which featured two daggers with a pileus hat in the middle. Pileus hats were conical and brimless, usually made of felt, and were presented to slaves when they were freed. The symbolism of the pileus hat was used by Caesar's assassins to legitimise the their action as the killing of a tyrant, thereby freeing the people of Rome.
The dunce hat was a silly hat that teachers in 19-20th century Europe and America used to use as punishments. Students who were slow or disruptive would be forced to wear the hat to humiliate them.
All that is to say,
get freed idiot.

Care bear and cousin oc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The blueish-purple bear came to be when I began to see the bluebonnets growing around. The white pads are from the original stuffed care bears™. I designed the belly badge as an iridescence pileus cloud that appeared in China a while back. I made it look vaguely like the Iris flower. Iris is like the god of the "rainbow" in Greek mythology. Seeing the cloud is a sight to behold but could mean a big storm is coming. Ironic because rainbows mean hope and promise. I believe it's fitting that the message of this bear is "hope for the best and prepare for the worst".
Wise Heart is based on an elf owl and an ornament I got on Christmas. Her badge is a tree with apple hearts, because of Bible reference. I like to think she wears that hat because it's neat. Super observant of the environment around her and yet is still so dense.
They're cannon to me and that's important.

Guys, I've heard about this epic idea.
So basically, you throw a party during the night of March 14. It's a pi day party.
Then, the second the clock strikes midnight, the party suddenly becomes an Ides of March party. You have not told any of the guests about that.
Then you do Ides of March activities like stabbing and pileus hat wearing.
(EDIT: for added fun, tell all guests about the Ides of March thing, except for one. Then EVERYONE STABS THE UNKNOWING VICTIM THE SECOND IT TURNS MIDNIGHT)

Note
A Santa hat, sure his movements are a bit floppy, but he has a good spark. Always leaving small gifts before anyone notices him. He just conveniently vanishes without a trace after everyone is satisfied
St. Pileus(like St. Nicholas. A pileus is a type of hat which the modern Santa hat derives from)

𝚂𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚊 𝚑𝚊𝚝 - One of the earliest predecessors of the Santa hat was the pileus, a type of soft, brimless hat worn by ancient Romans. The pileus was typically made of felt and was often worn by freed slaves as a symbol of their newfound liberty. It was also commonly worn by Roman citizens as a casual, everyday hat.

It's a pileus cloud, also called a cap cloud or scarf cloud. It's a type of lenticular cloud which forms over cumulus or cumulonimbus clouds like the one in the video. They can also form over volcanic ash clouds. Basically clouds sometimes have little cloud hats and in the right conditions those hats turn gay.
Tumblr media
The image captures the miraculous moment when the rays of sun hit a rare cloud called a pile cloud, and the angle and other subtle conditions are reflected in a divine rainbow color. (Source)
