So, just in case it's not evident at first sight, I'm BAD with backgrounds. I can't visualize environment when I'm drawing. Plein air drawing is ok (well, it's fine, but my perspective is always… Let's say: Inspired) but when I try to find a place around a character, I'm blanking out. It was fun to draw my comics sometime, especially when there wasn't any wall to put behind the character) So, I know I need to work on this. And fortunately, that's when Philip Sue got his free tutorial out! So here is the result! (Ans thank you for the help, Sir, much appreciated!)

Au cas ou ça ne se verrais pas, je suis très très NULLE en matière de décor. Je n’arrive juste pas à visualiser l’environnement quand je dessine. Le dessin de vue, ça va (à peu près, mais ma perspective est toujours… disons : inspirée) mais dès qu’il s’agit de trouver un décor où coller un personnage, ça part en vrille. C’était très drôle de dessiner IVLM des fois. Surtout quand il n’y avait pas de murs devant lequel placer le personnage du moment.

Donc je sais que je dois travailler les décors. Et fort heureusement, c’est le moment où Philip Sue, un artiste prolifique que je suis sur Insta, choisi pour sortir son tuto gratuit sur comment il fait ses speeds painting. Et voilà le résultat.

Eärendil the Mariner

Who deserves a pirate outfit more than Eärendil?

The background is largely inspired by one of Philip Sue's paintings. It was fun to draw a flat earth!

In other news, I love drawing ships but that was the worst angle possible to figure out. In my head, the Silmaril is at the prow in some kind of glass/mirror lantern that amplifies its light.

I wanted him to look soft, and little wry maybe, rather than fierce. I'm sure he's fierce aplenty but I mostly headcanon him as tired. His fate breaks my heart. Also, it doesn't really show here but my Eärendil is blind from overexposure to the Silmaril (and half-human fragile eyes).

I always waver between giving him locs or a shorter Mannish haircut, but his hair is really too kinky for the shoulder-length, Aragorn-style cut, so locs it is!

That's an interesting theory! I mean, we know Trevor has a tendency to hallucinate (possibly from doing too much meth) based on what we see in the Mrs. Philips mission, and it really is kind of suspicious how nobody really reacts to the rampages (not the authorities, and not the people you encounter once the rampages are done, if I recall correctly?).

As for the other behaviours, it's anyone's guess. The game's writing is very "tell, don't show" when it comes to Trevor—we hear a lot about his degeneracies, yet there isn't really any proof for it. I mean, nobody still has any clue what happened during Hang Ten. We do know T has trouble dealing with his anger, that he will have violent outbursts, and that he has no problems with violence (e.g. him punching Wade in the face, possibly removing Madrazo's ear, and torturing Mr. K), but the only time we really see him go off his rocker is in the beginning of the game with Johnny K, but even then there was a very specific emotional trigger—and losing it over finding out Michael was alive definitely makes more sense than someone making fun of his Canadian accent.

Not that he doesn't get pissed at trivial things, but I guess it would make more sense for him to get really pissed off and go on a rampage in his mind than actually mass-killing half of Los Santos. For all we know, that's what might've happened after Franklin made fun of him for tripping over the fence—at that point, we do see Trevor struggling to respond and speak normally, and expressing the fact he felt an urge to get violent. Maybe in his mind there was a full-blown rampage going on. Or not! It's hard to tell. Rockstar does have a penchant for the unreliable narrator protagonist trope too, so both are equally possible, I think.

Do you think Trevor just says stuff to scare people and keep up with his tough, deranged persona? He talks about being a cannibal, kidnapping, sodomizing his hockey coach after he cut Trevor from the team, threatening to molest Wade, among many other things. Some even believe his rampages are actually just happening in his mind, due to the fact the police don't show up during/after them. In one of the rampages, he kills a bunch of military personnel, and the authorities never show up. Some people believe he just lies/exhaggerates to scare people and look tough. They say the strongest evidence for this are the rampage missions (especially the military one), and also the scene where he ate the bowl of food from the fridge (that he said contained human/animal body parts), but promptly threw it back up when everyone left. What do y'all think?

Anniversary Tournament

Last year for Doctor Who's anniversary I ran a tournament between Doctor Who stories, and I wanted to so something different again this year. A tournament between real people important to the history of Doctor Who, actors, writers, producers, directors, composers, production designers. Technically it'll be a tournament for the most infuential person to Doctor Who and its development over the years, but really I want it to be a celebration of all of these people, and not just the winner.

To that end, the nomination form, you can also submit nominations normally, ie sending me an ask or replying to this post, however I won't be accepting propaganda through those methods.

I'm thinking I'll close nominations on the 18th of November, that might change but probably not by much

There's a year end wrap up going around Twitter so I figured I'd do here since I'm more active on this site. Not quite a year's worth of drawing since I started scribbling again around June after a forced break of few years. The journey back into art has been nothing short of amazing thanks to the X-Men and Cherik fandoms. It's been wonderful to see everyone inspiring each other. Thanks for following along on my learning journey. :) Here's to more fun, learning, and goofy scribbles in the coming year. Happy New Year and all the best to you and your loved ones, my friends. 😘

The one I'm most proud of and the most difficult: I technically haven't posted the final version yet because it's part of a story that I still need to finish. This was my first dive into background/enviro art after being inspired by one of Philip Sue's process videos. There are at least 5 versions of the background which have been patched together above and I'm pretty sure I'll have another version by the time I actually post the final. I wanted to end the story on something hopeful but life events both good and bad have forced me to put this on the back burner. Apologies to the friends who have been waiting for the continuation. 😅 That said, there is one very good reason why I've been distracted and I can't wait for you all to see. :)

The Sovereign Order of the Temple of Christ, which claims to represent the modern-day Knights Templar, has recently filed a new reconciliation lawsuit against Pope Francis.

Third Legal Action

This marks the third legal action the group has taken in less than two years, as they demand the rehabilitation of the order that was disbanded in 1312.

The plaintiffs argue that the Templar order was dissolved unjustly on April 2, 1312, during the Council of Vienne. They assert that this decision was made through an Apostolic Letter issued by Pope Clement V rather than through a formal judicial ruling, according to El Economista.

They claim that the disbanding was a grave error pressured by King Philip IV of France, known for his hostility towards the Templars.

The lawsuit highlights that the order was dismantled through an “infamous process without evidence.”

At the time of their arrest, it is stated that there were approximately 15,300 knights, of whom 650 were killed, while 14,650 managed to escape. Their Grand Master, Jacques de Molay, was burned at the stake on March 18, 1314, marking a tragic end to the order.

Seek Private Audience

In addition to rehabilitation, the plaintiffs are seeking financial compensation for the confiscation of their properties, which they claim were largely handed over to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, also known as the Knights of Malta.

The group has outlined several specific demands, including the recognition of the Templar priesthood under the Melchizedek rite, permission to establish oratories and chapels, and the return of the Church of Vera Cruz in Segovia.

Moreover, they want all medieval Templars who were tortured or killed to be recognized as martyrs and are asking to form a military body to intervene in religious conflicts.

The order has requested that the Pope issue a decree encompassing all these demands and communicate it to parishes and convents.

Additionally, they seek a private audience with the Pope to discuss their requests in more detail. Historically, this isn't the first time the Sovereign Order of the Temple of Christ has sought rehabilitation, as they have previously filed similar requests in 2005, 2006, and 2007, as well as ordinary lawsuits in subsequent years.
