Finished reading Benzene, effects of substituents on Benzene for Org chem. For microbio, read the introductory chapter and cell structure

For pharmaceutical engineering, skimmed through the first chapter

As for physical pharmaceutics, which was lengthy so completed half of the chapter reading today. Remaining shall be done tomorrow.

Watched 2 eco lectures and read a chapter.

Since I am also on substack and I will be posting a monthly work based on dance, so was noting and reviewing a bharatnatyam abhinaya piece depicting Devaki, krishna's mother.

And made a partial to-do list for tomorrow. Will fill the remaining half tasks in the morning after checking out a few of them during the day.

hi!!

i live in the uk and have just applied to study pharmacy (mPharm), starting next year. I'm quite excited about it but still am not sure if I'm making the right choice, particularly because I've struggled quite a bit with chemistry and also am really passionate about some other subjects too like english and film. how did you find the experience of studying pharmacy? what's your favourite part of the job so far? is it something you would recommend in terms of being worth the effort and time?

Hello!!!! I am so sorry that this has gone unanswered for so long, it’s been a hell of a few months!

I’m glad you’re excited for it!! It is completely natural to have doubts though, I remember in sixth form all of us had doubts after seeing what our friends were applying for and how passionate they seemed about their subjects. Then we realised we all thought that each other is super passionate and it was just some classic imposter syndrome!

I really enjoy studying pharmacy! Even now, I’m doing a postgrad and it’s a huge pain but I’m enjoying the learning itself. Pharmacy degrees are quite unusual in that it starts off super sciencey, so like my entire first year was science - however there was a lot of overlap with A level chemistry so it wasn’t too intense, and then gradually it increased in how hard it was. I did find all the lecturers were really supportive though! As the years went on, it became less science focused and more clinical, which I enjoyed a lot more as it’s the more day to day pharmacy.

In terms of the job, I work in the hospital. I’ve only ever done hospital pharmacy since leaving uni, so can’t comment on other sectors such as community or industry. Generally, I like it. Our pay is good (in my opinion), we’re struggling with lack of staff at the moment- but where isn’t? And I do enjoy making a difference to patients. The best part of my job is by far when I talk to patients and help them get the best out of their medicines, or when I make good interventions like switching someone to liquids to go down their feeding tube. I’m currently working in palliative care and it’s so lovely to see the impact that you can have on patients, and my hospice team really value having pharmacy input. The worst part is by far the staffing levels and not having enough time to do the job I want to do- although where I am is 5 years away from you now and I am very hopeful that things will be improving by then (or that the nhs will have collapsed and we will be living in a dystopian nightmare - in which case they’ll still need medicines so is a solid career choice!) all jokes aside, for me I would say it is worth the effort. I get paid well, I generally enjoy my job, and I like having a defined career path planned out. It is certainly hard work, and doing my postgrad now is genuinely painful, but it’s a good career!

Also. If you get to pharmacy school and think oh no I hate this, that’s fine!!!! You can absolutely see what you think, and change subjects. You can take the rest of the year out and switch after, there is absolutely no race to get to where you want and there is no shame in not knowing what you want and trying things out. I moved jobs after pre-reg which turned out to be a big mistake, and moved again after a year which has put me a year behind all my friends in my postgrad. But it doesn’t matter? It’s taken me so long to realise this but you can do things at whatever pace you want, and I am happy now after making that second move even though it put me a ‘year behind’. If you want to see how you get on in pharmacy school, and then want to change to English, that is TOTALLY fine. At the end of the day, as long as you are studying something you love, that’s what matters and it doesn’t matter how long it takes to get there 🫶🏻

⛈️ 20.05.2024 // I studied a bit today (2 hours) and I did a lesson about the ophthalmic dosage form! There was a storm while I was doing it so it was just perfect to study with some real thunder noise!!

I also cooked some pizzas (like we choose the ingredients and all) and they were really good!! :))

I try to get back into studying, my exams are in a month so I really really have to study more!!!

yall are about to piss me off by not having any PASSING basic knowledge of the way the u.s. military manipulates its recruits into joining by typing up one of your uninformed, unresearched, unempathetic, individualistic, unbelievably annoying posts about how 100% of the people in the military ended up there because they just Love America So Damn Much! they're extremely mature and informed at time of recruitment, they can totally leave anytime they want, they totally had tons of other avenues in life they could've taken, there was no rush at all to get income as fast as possible, and everyone in the military also totally is part of the combat divisions and personally enjoys being IN the military very much, big believers of violence. everyone in the military is shooting guns all day, that's how that works. they LOVE BLOODSHED. also I love the "amewicans haha" twang to this type of shit because you're actually TOTALLY stealing our Thing, which is turning systemic issues into Individual Issues. Instead of talking about the powers that be, it's so Personal Choice up in here. It's, "well you shouldn't have done it then. I totally wouldn't because I know better." you don't wanna talk about the military industrial complex as a whole, and you don't want to talk about recruiters, you just want to pin the blame on Specific Individual People one-by-one, as if they're responsible for the system that they're being ground up in. someone was in the military? bad person, no matter what. it's easier to believe that, I guess, than to acknowledge that Normal People (with high school educations) are manipulated and incentivized into joining a system that is Bad. at like age 18. but yeah no that 18 year old should have just been smarter lol haha anyway here are some screenshots for no particular reason

I'm back!!??

I'll start posting more consistently 'cause I'm starting to study for summer's exams

here in Italy we have a period of lessons (for me it's mid September to mid December and late February to early June) and the time in between is for us to take exams, and you get to choose the date between like 4 dates given by the prof

in summer however, uni is closed in August so doing exams in September is kinda the last straw

sooo I have to take 5 exams in June and July so I have to start studying now (I have lessons every day until the 7th of June)

so basically, let's hope I don't burnout :)

Day 1/29 of productivity

Trying again with a productivity challenge, except this time it's going to be 29 days- te same number of days as I have until my pharm exam. To count as a successful day, I need to study 20 flashcards twice, and do at least three sections of reading. I will take six quizzes a day as well.

challenges with this include : I work for 8 hours a day and am EXAUSTED afterwards, so I have to do everything in the morning (not really a problem); I have a friend visiting me for the next week, and because I work and also have them to hang out with, I will not have very much time (I will do my best to study on my work breaks)

I will try and update daily, but I'm not holding myself to that

Hey, it's been awhile since I did come up with this idea to do a movie review!

[ Spoiler alert! ]

It is about Roz a robot designed to finish a given task, become stranded to wilderness when an accident happened. It follows when Roz capable to adapt with its environment, in which be friended with all of the living species and animals in the wild. Roz strangely developed and expanded its designed and be attached to a hatchling named Brightbill and a fox named Fink in which, lets follow their wild adventure and enjoy!

This movie delivery a heart warming, clenching, breaking and entertaining scenes. I provided some of the highlights an image that catches my emotions. It teaches us for a survival instinct in which, we can adopt to our surroundings. Through kindness and determination in which how others can motivate us and help us to reach our tasks and goals in life.

Highly recommended to all of you! I hope you liked it too!

I finished last night very late, but still I woke up energized, which I find strange. I took the exam well and I am sure of my answer, but some girls said that the answer to the questions is C and not B, but I am still sure of what I wrote. I mean, I know the result before I even start solving, so how Am I wrong?! ...Anyway, tomorrow is the last exam, which is a computer exam, and I will be able to sit for a week before the start of my practical exams.

So ! :
