Happy spooky month ft a neoplastic cell who decided it needed to grow cytoplasmic tentacles in order to produce the glob of Mystery Pink Stuff instead of just hugging it like a normal cell

Two of my favorite oddball coyote skulls.
One had a massive overbite which caused one lower canine tooth to protrude up into the incisive foramen when the mouth was closed.
The other one had some crazy bone deformity over the eye socket which created multiple holes that opened right into the sinuses and braincase.

I'm fairly sure this coyote survived being shot in the muzzle. There's a small entry wound and a huge exit wound that took out several teeth. Both are well healed. Coyotes are made of extra lives I swear. And people suck.

Saponification is the process of the human body partly or completely turning to soap. The fatty tissue and the liquid from putrefaction gradually form into adipocere, which is also known as grave wax. This process can happen to embalmed and non-embalmed bodies. It is most common with those who are overweight. The photograph above is of “The Soap Lady” who is housed at the Mutter Museum. She is entirely composed of grave wax.

Obsessed with respiratory epithelium. Look at all those cilia. Waving around, pushing microbes and other foreign material away from the lungs. The best 🫁🫁🫁

horror sub-genres • medical horror
medical horror can also meld with sci-fi, body horror, thrillers, psychological horror. and we see everything from mad scientists, to zombielike contamination, to plastic surgery, to diseases, and the realm of mental health.

Five of my favorite pathological skulls with hole-y heads.
From left to right they are—raccoon, wolf, domestic goat, coyote, and a domestic cat on the bottom. All of these animals had some sort of injury or illness that caused open holes in their skulls while they were still alive. The wolf for example, likely survived being kicked in the head by a large hoofed prey animal.
Nature is fascinating and scary.
