What happened to music’s peace movement?  Here’s a 40-song playlist from the best era to do it.
What happened to music’s peace movement? Here’s a 40-song playlist from the best era to do it. #1970s #peacemovement #musicblog #love #peace
(July 31, 2023). There was a time when music purporting to promote solidarity actually did that. The song currently threatening to take over the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 is a tune that has sparked controversy because, rightly or wrongly, critics—including yours truly—have interpreted it as a violence-provoking double-dog-dare disguised as an ode to small town unity and values. But that…

Berwick-upon-Tweed, England:  This was my first stop in a “non-tourist” town.  I loved the calm, quiet, homey, and serene energy by the bridge river walk and along the barracks history walk overlooking the ocean, churches, golf course. bridge, and graveyard.  So peaceful, cleansing, and grounding within these areas of Berwick-upon-Tweed.  <3
History: Berwick-upon-Tweed dates back to the 10th century and changed hands between England and Scots at least 13 times until the peace treaty in 1639.  Things maybe peaceful today, but Berwick has a dramatic history caught on the frontline of battles, rebellions, wars and skirmishes.
Royal Boarder Bridge: I feel in love with this stunning strong bridge which was built between 1847-1850 and still transports trains, people, and cargo today.
You Tube Video: War needs to die, not people.

"I Have a Dream" is a public speech that was delivered by American civil rights activist and Baptist minister, Martin Luther King Jr., during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963. In the speech, King called for civil and economic rights and an end to racism in the United States. Delivered to over 250,000 civil rights supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., the speech was a defining moment of the civil rights movement and among the most iconic speeches in American history. Beginning with a reference to the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared millions of slaves free in 1863, King said "one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free". Toward the end of the speech, King departed from his prepared text for a partly improvised peroration on the theme "I have a dream" prompted by Mahalia Jackson's cry: "Tell them about the dream, Martin!" In this part of the speech, which most excited the listeners and has now become its most famous, King described his dreams of freedom and equality arising from a land of slavery and hatred. Jon Meacham writes that, "With a single phrase, Martin Luther King Jr. joined Jefferson and Lincoln in the ranks of men who've shaped modern America". The speech was ranked the top American speech of the 20th century in a 1999 poll of scholars of public address. The speech has also been described as having "a strong claim to be the greatest in the English language of all time". #blackexcellist #drking #speech #blackexcellence #blm #martinlutherkingjr #civilrightsactivist #civilrightsmovement #ihaveadream #happyheavenlybirthday #rip #blackhistory #africanamerican #africanamericanhistory #correttascottking #washingtondc #famousspeech #morehousecollege #activist #peacemovement #nobelpeaceprize #martinlutherkingjrday #martinlutherkingmemorial #desegregation #laborrights #righttovote #montgomerybusboycott (at GOD'S PLAN) https://www.instagram.com/p/Chssi4Fjq15/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
