i love this picture so much because it reminds me of this one fun fact about jack and jackie that always makes me happy and sad at the same time. obviously this is from before the whitehouse years but idc it still reminds me of this story

reading jackie's conversations w historian arthur schlesinger that were recorded and then transcribed shortly after jack’s death (where she's basically recounting her whole life with him) and the diction guys… the diction. you can just tell how much she loved that man. it hits you like a punch to the gut. through her own words and her little pauses, the love just fights its way OUT. it makes itself known. and through little snippets you can also tell without a doubt that jack loved her in all the ways he knew how to.

was it enough at times? probably not. was it what she deserved? not at all. did she deserve more? absolutely. but the love, a thousand intricacies of love that we will never be able to grasp or understand, and it would be futile to even try, was still there between the two of them and that’s significant and beautiful and so human.
