KICHEN 2Point0 Part 2
The 43-piece second half of the KICHEN 2Point0 focuses on appliances and clutter for your kitchens.
Of course, it's also time for another trip down memory lane to revisit the original Kichen & how it links back to this current iteration. All the items apart from the wishboner chair have been completely new ideas and meshes, however we wanted to try and capture some of our favourite elements from the original and reimagine them in our current styles. Way back in 2019 Harrie wasn't experienced in making new meshes from scratch, so many of the clutter items were mesh edits of EA items. For our first few collaborations, we would actually explore all of the EA items that we felt would fit into our theme, but with the Kichen 2Point0, we made all of the clutter items from scratch. It was so important for us to include new essential clutter pieces in this set as even to this day, we will often gravitate towards those original clutter items when building & we still spot them in many of your builds, too!
We have tried to cover all the appliances you need to bring this kitchen to life. Of course, with new EA functional items being added with new pack releases, we were also long overdue for a small appliance refresh that we haven't had in any of our other set releases. Highlights include the functional kettle (requires For Rent EP) and the mixer (requires Home Chef Hustle SP), but of course, we have also included decorative versions for those of you who don't have those packs.
Most of the items are Base Game compatible, except for the Mixer & kettle, as mentioned above, and can be found by searching the B/B catalog using the keyword 2Point0. As the items are designed for both of our current sets, they will also appear when you search using the keywords KLEAN or SOHO.
We can't wait to see what you do with the new items and how you bring them all to life in your game. As always, we would love it if you tagged us in your builds on social media.
Set items include:

Cooking While Disabled
One of the things I miss most about being less disabled is cooking. It was one of my favorite things to do and something I've always been good at.
On good days there are things I can do that make it easier. It's not the same as before, but I hope that sharing what makes it possible for me to cook helps others who struggle with it.
Tips for cooking while disabled:
You can incorporate precooked food in your meals. For example, stir fry with precooked rice with the ingredients of your choice, or taking frozen pasta (like the ones with maybe sauce and a couple other things) or plain microwave pasta (I prefer these, but heat it first) and putting it in a pan adding other ingredients like vegetables, cheese, garlic, etc
If it comes frozen or canned that can really help. Frozen rice you can just microwave, frozen cut veggies and garlic and onions are good as well
Buy a chopper with different shaped blades, spiralizer, electric slicer/grater, food processor, or any appliance that will save you energy. Ideally machine washable. Stand mixers are also better than manual ones. Especially helpful if you have joint/wrist issues
You can always prepare ingredients ahead of time. I find that sometimes it helps to prep (chopping or mixing ingredients, etc) earlier in the day or even a day before. Then you can put it in the fridge or freezer until you're ready to cook the full meal
Look up easy recipes or recipes for elderly/seniors. With the latter you may find more nutritionally balanced food but an unbalanced easy meal is better than none
You can sit while you prepare ingredients.
You're allowed to take breaks. You can turn the stove off, maybe put a lid on it to retain the heat, sit down, maybe take something for your symptoms. Some things you may not be able to stop in the middle of like making pancakes or deep frying something, but if you're making soup or curry or chili or something, often you can turn it off for a bit and take care of yourself.
If you need help and can get it, please ask for help. I know many of us need to work on asking for help including myself. Even if it's just washing the pots and pans or chopping something. You are not a burden you hear me?
Stretch before and after cooking just as one would before a workout. It will likely lessen any joint pain or stiffness as you are still exerting yourself
Listen to your body. Just as you're allowed to take a break, you are allowed to decide you won't be able to finish what you're doing. You may put away your food before it's done (if this won't ruin the meal). You are allowed to leave a dirty pot in the sink and come back to it later (just make sure you or someone else does before it gets gross). You can wash them in the dishwasher. I know this is bad for the seasoning on pots and pans but you can reseason them to be nonstick again and use nonstick spray
You can buy seasoning mixes rather than using individual seasoning. Instead of parsley, oregano, basil, etc you can buy Italian seasoning. Instead of paprika, pepper, cumin, oregano, salt, etc, you can just get taco seasoning. This may sound obvious but it can save a lot of time and energy
An issue I have is buying perishable ingredients thinking I can use them, having a bad week or two, and the ingredients have gone bad. Try to plan out your meals before shopping and ask yourself if there's an easier alternative for any ingredients. Maybe pre chopped fresh onion instead of a whole one, sliced mushrooms instead of whole, frozen vegetable blends instead of individual, powdered ginger instead of the root, bullion instead of stock that you may not be able to use all at once. I know this is like one of the other points but these are what I find most helpful
Use supercook.com! You input the ingredients you have on hand and you'll get a list of recipes you can make with what you have. Often there's a wide range of complexity and difficulty
Make enough food to freeze or refrigerate leftovers. It helps if you can portion it into single servings in Tupperware or freezer bags. You can prepare frozen burritos for your next few lunches or dinners, separate portion sizes of spaghetti, portion salads, etc
Feel free to add any additions!

The secret to the perfect bagel is a subject of heated discourse. After trying bagels from New York City to Seattle, we can tell you one thing: it’s not the water source; it’s the baker. One of our biggest breakthroughs was a starch slurry, which not only helps toppings stick but also makes it possible to use larger items — sunflower seeds, chopped nuts — that otherwise wouldn’t cling well.
Why are bagels first boiled or steamed? Because either method of applying heat pregelatinizes the starch on the crust; this is why bagels are so shiny after they bake.
Cooking Notes:
If using a 4.5 qt or 8 qt stand mixer, sometimes the ingredients are not enough for the dough hook to mix them well; use a paddle attachment initially to get all the ingredients uniformly mixed. Once you have a shaggy mass (the dough is sticky and wet, but there are no visible clumps of flour or unincorporated water in the bowl), switch to a hook attachment.
Because bagel dough is stiff, mixing it in a stand mixer can cause the machine to struggle and possibly burn out. If your stand mixer is dancing on the table, it either has too much dough or too stiff of a dough (or both) for it to handle.
For a 4.5 qt bowl, you can mix on the lowest possible speed, which will double the mixing time. You can also mix the dough to a shaggy mass, divide the dough in half, and mix it to full gluten development in two batches.
The final mix time at higher speeds may vary from machine to machine. The goal is to achieve full gluten development. Consider our suggested times as guidelines only. Let your visual assessment and the windowpane test determine the dough’s stage of gluten development.
To make the dough easier to handle, add 0.05% fresh pineapple juice or 0.8% fresh kiwi juice.
Keep the dough covered as you weigh out the pieces; this dough dries out easily because of its low hydration.
Make sure that the hole in the middle of the bagel is centered, or it will proof and bake unevenly.
Although bagels are proofed and baked on a half sheet pan, we recommend placing the half sheet pan on a baking stone that is on the middle shelf of the oven. This will provide the dough with a good oven spring and will reduce baking time. Alternatively, you can slide the parchment paper the bagels are on directly onto the baking stone.
Storage Note: If you aren’t going to eat the bagels the same day, let them cool, and then immediately slice them in half, wrap each half, and freeze them for up to 2 months. Frozen bagels can be dropped into the toaster without thawing.

How some of the QSMP likes their eggs cooked
Clarification, the literal food item, not their kiddos
Tubbo; raw, eggshells and all
Cellbit; powdered eggs when he's in the thick of investigating something, over easy when he's actually takes the time to make eggs
Aypierre; poached, in one of those egg holders where you crack it w/ a spoon
Badboyhalo; quiche, but specifically made in one of those cheap cupcake pans where you can bend it a certain way and they pop right out
Wilbur; eggs benedict. eats it w/o any utensils despite how messy it can get
Jaiden; pickled in koolaid, has 7 different jars of them, each a different flavor
Roier; over-medium egg, those ones that look like wispy clouds thrown together in a sandwich w/ green tomato
Bagi; sous vide. apparently, it's cooking vacuum sealed eggs in a water bath but there's a machine that does it for you. eats it on avocado toast.
Roier; y'know how for some baking recipes, you have to whip the egg whites w/ a mixer? yea, he's eating the results of that aka whipped egg whites.
Etoiles; frittata but it's cut into a bunch of little stars that are then put into an egg drop soup, almost as if it were chicken noodle soup
Foolish; is Emmett Cullens w/ a bag of like 12 boiled eggs. goes even further w/ it by slicing them in half and making little peanut butter and jelly sandwiches out of them.

Not that sure it's that weird, but Oleg in a cooking show?
Probably an AU since I don't think legally dead accomplices to terrorism go on cooking shows all that often! From Sergey's point of view.
-
The timer was ticking on the final task of the day. Everything had been planned down to the smallest detail. The cameras on set were rolling. The discreet, cleverly hidden cameras Sergey had placed around the set were recording too, but he was the only one who knew they were there. He hadn't even told Oleg what he had in store for the day.
Of course he believed Oleg could win the competition on his own. But Sergey had his own theory of game design. The best way to win was to make your own rules and control the state of play from the start.
People just loved to connect their devices to the internet these days. Smart fridges, smart microwaves, even smart convection ovens. A month before filming even started, Sergey had found out the brand of all those clever modern devices the showrunners had set up in exchange for generous product placement deals. Hacking into the systems had been trivially easy. Nobody expected to have to worry about malicious code in their microwave.
He'd started subtly in the earlier rounds, filmed two days ago. One contestant had failed to cook a chicken breast all the way through, and never even noticed that the burner the pan was resting on was turning off and on at random. Another had opened their fridge to find wilted greens that had spent the past night in a machine that cycled between freezing and far too warm. One by one, Sergey had picked off the competitors with overcooked steak and frozen sticks of butter and burnt fish.
Oleg had been magnificent, as he always was, working steadily through his own dishes as the others flailed around setting pans on fire or trying to thaw frozen fish. He accepted compliments from the judges with his trademark stoicism. Now he was working on the fiddly details of a gâteau St. Honore, frowning in concentration over his work. Sergey took a moment to admire his face in profile before turning the temperate on someone else's oven up to 260 degrees Celcius. Let her try to win with a charcoal brick instead of a Prinsesstårta.
The timer ticked down. Sergey sabotaged a mixer, ruining someone's buttercream, and cranked up the heat on another baker's ganache. Perhaps he'd overdone it this time; Oleg was the only one who ended the competition with a completed cake at all. While the woman who'd charred her Prinsesstårta sobbed into her apron, Sergey sat back in his chair and dug a spoon into a pint of ice cream he'd bought the moment Oleg had left town for the competition.
On his way back to clean up his workstation, Oleg paused and glanced directly at the camera Sergey had aimed at it. For a second, Oleg seemed to be looking straight at him.
"I could have won on my own, you know," he said, so softly only the microphone Sergey had taped under the butcher's block countertop could pick it up.
"I know," Sergey told the screen, "but it's more fun this way."

An Afternoon's Labor...
Two mounds of cookies: one of Chocolate Chip, and the other Peanut Butter.
All in a day's work for my 33-year-old Kitchen Aid KSM90.
Kind just winged it on both batches...I have been at this for so many years, and WITH THIS MACHINE, that I can pretty much just adjust in my head and calculate how much of each ingredient I need, on the fly. Here's how these two batches came together:
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Oven at 375 degrees.
1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter overnight-on-counter soft
1/2 cup crisco shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking soda
Put all the above in the mixer bowl w/paddle, and beat the livin' daylights out of it 'til it's fluffy.
Then turn the speed down and add 2 large eggs, making sure they're each incorporated before adding the next. Eventually turn the speed down to the first setting and add 3 cups of flour, a little at a time. I take the 1-cup measure and gently tap it around the rim of the bowl. Repeat for each cup until incorporated. After the flour is totally incorporated, add your bag of chocolate chips of your choice.
Shape into 1"-1/2" balls. Toss in a bowl of granulated sugar. Bake 12 to a half-sheet pan, for 11 minutes at 375. Allow to cool in pan until they're flattened. Then carefully transfer them to cooling racks.
PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
Oven at 350 degrees.
Using the same ingredient amounts and procedures above, when you've got your eggs incorporated, add 1 cup of any "stir-up" kind of crunchy peanut butter. I prefer Laura Scudders, but greedflation has put an end to that affair...not paying $8 for fucking peanut butter.
Once you have that peanut butter incorporated after the eggs, then do the flour, same amount as above.
And finish out by rolling in balls, tossing in granulated sugar, 12 to a half-sheet pan, and criss-cross each with the tines of a fork, smashing the round balls a bit, until they're about 1/2" thick.
Bake for 10 minutes, not a second more, at 350. Cool in pan, and then on racks. And yes, you could add chocolate chips to these, if you want!

Harvest Foccacia
Source: California Wine Country Cooking Secrets (1993)
Serves 4 Preparation Time: 1/2 Hours
1 small cake fresh yeast or 21⁄2 tsps. dry
1⁄2 cup warm milk
1 Tbsp. sugar
8 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup fresh grapes
1 cup golden raisins
2 Tbsps. fresh rosemary
1 1⁄8 cups virgin olive oil
2 cups warm water
1 Tbsp. coarse salt
Mix the yeast, milk, sugar and 1⁄2 cup flour in mixing bowl. Let stand to foam for 15 minutes Prepare the filling by warming 1 cup olive oil on medium heat. Add the grapes, raisins and rosemary. When warm. remove from heat and let set until room temperature. Mix half of the filling into the yeast mixture. Add 4 cups flour and mix, using dough attachment on mixer. Mix until smooth, adding salt and remaining flour one cup at a time. Knead in machine for 3 min- utes. Dough should be velvety and elastic. Set in an oiled bowl with damp cloth on top to rise, approximately 1 hour.
Coat a cookie pan with olive oil. Roll out dough to fit inside the pan. Cover with damp cloth and rise a second time, until doubled in volume. Press finger indents into dough, making sure not to puncture all the way through. Spread remaining topping on top of dough. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp. each sugar and salt on top and bake in 350° oven until golden brown.
Cooking note: This bread is typically made in Italy with the raisins from a previously successful harvest and the grapes from the current harvest as a good luck snack to be eaten during crush.

Where Chaos Reigns
Fandom - Obey Me!
Characters - Satan, Mammon, Asmo, Beel, Lucifer
Warnings - Angry Beel, angry Lucifer, angry Satan, cursing, excessive use of capitals.
A/N - For @ombrotherlylove2023 (day 4). Another normal day at the House of Lamentation, I suppose. Do not ask me why Satan is teaching Mammon about food ok, I don't know what's happening and why.
OM!Masterlist • Leave a tip! • Taglist Form!
“The amount of flour you use depends on the number of people that will be eating,” Satan says, scooping out a bowl. “But since we’ve got Beel, we’re gonna disregard that.”
Mammon nods, licking his fingers of lemon juice. “How many are ya putting?”
“Seven,” Satan replies. “Take a good look at that size. Then we pour water.”
He screws the mixer’s top on and pours half a bottle of water from the opening. “And now just turn the machine on.”
Mammon nods, watching the mixer rotate the flour loudly. He turns to the lemonade he was making, mixing in the last of the sugar and raises a spoonful towards Satan. “Check this.”
Satan licks his lips. “Hmm. Did you put in salt?”
“A little bit.”
“Add more.”
“Ok.”
The mixer works noisily. Mammon swirls his water, stepping aside when Satan reaches for the pan.
“Beel’s coming downstairs!” Asmo shrieks, gliding into the kitchen, smooth features frazzled. “What do we do?!”
“Why is he coming here? Keep him away!” Mammon says.
“He is already on his way!”
“Well, distract him ya dumb shit!”
“How do I do that?!”
“Where’s Belphie?” Satan asks, setting the pan on the stove.
“Belphie?” Beel lumbers in, making a beeline for the fridge. “He fell asleep on the stairs so I carried him to our room.”
What do we do? Asmo mouths, waving his arms.
I don’t know, Mammon replies, watching tensely as Beel throws the fridge open and bends to look through it.
“Is he going to have dinner with everyone?” Satan asks, brows furrowing as he opens the mixer, scooping out the ready dough.
“I’m not sure, he was really—”
Beel goes silent. “Where’s my pudding?”
Mammon and Asmo look at each other.
“WHERE’S MY PUDDING!?” Beel rages, slamming the fridge door close. “I WANT MY PUDDING!”
“Beel, calm down! Anger is not good for your face, it will bring wrinkles on your forehead,” Asmo soothes, backing off hastily when Beel punches a faucet off the wall. Water sprays everywhere.
“You—” Satan growls, staring at the stream of water drowning his dough. “I will say this once, take this outside or I’ll tear all your heads from your shoulders and feed it to Cerberus!”
“Where is my PUDDING!?” Beel roars, turning on Satan.
“I don’t know where your fucking pudding is! Take this OUT!”
Lucifer’s gonna kill me, Mammon thinks, watching as Satan’s demon form starts flickering into existence.
“WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?” Lucifer calls out, walking into view.
“Oh fuck.” Mammon shares an anguished look with Asmo. “This is so unfair!”

If You Can’t Stand The Heat
One-shot fic. Don’t know if it qualifies as fluff/angst or hurt/comfort, but ptsd is definitely happening.
Mario and Luigi settle into a new home in The Mushroom Kingdom shortly after their victory over Bowser. Both try their best to embrace the new normal, but both have their own struggles wrapping their heads around everything they just survived.
Now posted on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/46686196
______________________________________
Luigi never had a kitchen to himself before. The moment he and his brother declared themselves homeowners, his entire family, near and far, pitched in to make sure they had everything they needed. The kitchen especially was stocked with all their hearts desired, as everyone in the family had a spare something: cutlery, spatulas, measuring spoons, cutting boards, cheese graters, rolling pins, crock pots, meat tenderizers, bread machines, pitchers, pots, pans, knives, blenders, choppers, slicers, mixers, grinders, peelers, juicers, shakers… Mario tried to explain that they could stock their own kitchen– the plumbing business was going great, they had money now, but nobody listened. In their own loud, pushy, overbearing way, they only wanted to make sure he and his brother were taken care of. They were family, after all.
While Luigi had always pitched in to help cook for big events and celebrations back in Brooklyn, the kitchen was his mother’s domain, kept pristine, efficient, and orderly. She was an unstoppable machine that churned out three multi-course meals a day, all made from scratch. She worked hard, poured her whole heart into every detail, and always made sure everyone was fed and taken care of. Luigi was often told– sometimes condescendingly– he took after his mother, but to him this was no insult. Quite the opposite. At last he had a kitchen of his own, and though he was cooking for a household of two rather than nine it felt like no less of a responsibility, especially given the way Mario had been for the past few days. To anyone who hadn’t lived with Mario his entire life, he seemed fine. Better than fine. He behaved like his usual self, head raised high and a spring in his step, ready to take on the world. Nobody else knew how little sleep he was getting, sitting up in bed while looking back and forth between his brother and the window like a newly-hired guard dog, waiting for the worst. Nobody else saw how his whole body shifted into a fighting stance at the slightest hint of trouble, the worry in his eyes every time Luigi stepped away for longer than a minute.
For as long as Luigi could remember, Mario treated his own life with reckless abandon while treating Luigi’s like it was more valuable than the world itself. It was only two weeks ago that they nearly lost each other, and then found each other, and then saved each other by the skin of their teeth. Luigi, feeling a little guilty, was dead set on seeing to it that all was made right again. He was happy to stick close to his brother for as long as needed, stay up talking for long hours into the night, and manage the plumbing business whenever Mario finally felt calm enough to fall asleep (no matter what time of day it was). But more than anything he kept their new house clean and organized, intent on ensuring every square inch of it truly felt like home– a safe haven where nothing could hurt them.
Of course, their first home-cooked meal would be a major milestone, and what better way to launch their kitchen than with an old-fashioned Italian pizza? Luigi layered the sauce and the mozzarella on the freshly stretched dough while the oven preheated, singing “Che La Luna” to himself while Mario sat in the living room, trying to beat the first boss of Kid Icarus.
“You sure you don’t want any help, Luigi?” “I said I’ve got this!” Luigi called back, pausing his singing as he added fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of salt. “I’m almost done. Dinner in five!”
Luigi plucked up the pizza peel by handle and headed toward the oven, pleased with his handiwork. He picked the tune back where he left off, taking a moment to twirl proudly in his apron as he crossed the kitchen floor. “C' 'na luna mezz'u mare Mamma mia m'a maritare!…” He carefully held his creation in his right hand as he leaned down and opened the oven door. “Figlia mia a cu te dare Mamma mia pensace-”
The blast of heat hit him. Luigi suddenly stopped singing. He had been so lost in his own thoughts… he didn’t even expect the oven to feel like this, five hundred degrees fahrenheit slamming against his cheeks like a heavy blow. Blindsided by the sensation, an uncontrollable tremor slowly overtook him, the pizza he had so carefully prepared falling out of his hands, clattering to the tile floor.
“Lu! You okay?” Luigi didn’t hear Mario’s voice. The comforting presence one room over disappeared under an ocean of fear that crashed down upon him, suffocating him. The cozy kitchen, the golden light of evening streaming through the open window, and the smell of yeast and flour evaporated under ash and sulfur, boiling magma lapping at his feet and red-hot iron bending beneath his hands. His heart pounded so hard he felt like it was about to burst, blood rushing to his head and turning his mind inside out while it desperately attempted to grasp reality… This wasn’t real! It was over! He was safe! He was home! He… Heat. He was trapped. He was burning. Luigi leapt back from the oven, hitting himself against the island table as he fell. Hard stone, sharp claws, bony hands, crushing scales, falling debris. Heat. Oppressive, inescapable as death.
“Mario!” Luigi screamed his brother’s name on instinct, unaware he was already in the doorway, rushing to his side.
“Luigi! what’s wrong?” Mario took hold of his brother. Luigi tried to wriggle out of his grasp as though his life depended on it. He shook violently, pressing his hands tightly to his face as he screamed again, voice cracking with terror and desperation.
“Mario!”
“I’m here Lu! I’ve got you!” With some effort, Mario managed to force Luigi’s hands away from his face. He held Luigi’s cheeks and looked into his eyes– they were wide, tearful, looking past everything toward some undisclosed horror in the middle distance. At last they shifted, returning to the present world, settling upon the face in front of him. He shivered terribly, his breathing shallow, his brow soaked in sweat as recognition finally dawned on him. “… Mario?”
“I’ve got you.” Mario pulled Luigi close, pressing their foreheads together as they sat on the kitchen floor, surrounded by a mess of trampled dough and scattered flour. “I’m here. I’ve got you.” Mario repeated softly, “You’re okay. You’re okay. I’ve got you.”
________________
That night, they had ice cream for dinner. Mario stood in the living room in front of the coffee-table-turned-dessert-bar, and split a tub of butterscotch-caramel between two dishes, topping them with mounds of whipped cream, sprinkles, and cherries. Luigi sat on the nearby couch, wrapped in a quilt, watching his brother divvy out the icecream from a carton that still had the smudged remnants of “Mario’s! Do not touch!” written on the side in sharpie, hastily scratched out at the last minute.
“You want pecans too?” Mario asked, already popping open the tin. Luigi nodded, tightening the blanket a little further around his shoulders. His hands still shivered as he took the bowl from his brother. He was quiet for a moment, taking a few bites of the ice cream, fighting down another wave of tears that tried to bubble to the surface even now that the worst of the attack had left him. He was miserable. Exhausted. Defeated. “I feel so stupid.”
“You shouldn’t.” Mario sat on the couch, shoulder-to-shoulder against his brother while holding his sundae in his lap. “This is normal, I think. I mean... you went through a lot.”
“You didn’t fall apart like this.” Luigi whined, “You went through a lot too.” “What I went through is different.” Mario retorted, stirring his sundae into a brown, chocolatey slurry with his spoon, “I wasn’t alone like you were. Even from the first moment I landed in The Mushroom Kingdom I had Toad watching my back. You didn’t have anyone.”
Luigi didn’t say anything, he just looked at his older brother. Mario was right, but he didn’t like how guilty he looked while saying it. It wasn’t his fault that they got ripped in separate directions, it wasn’t his fault they ended up where they ended up. He did everything he could. He did amazing, all considering.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Mario asked, breaking the silence between them. “You know… what happened to you while we were apart?”
Luigi took a bite of his ice cream to buy himself time to consider his response. The answer was no, of course, even though Luigi knew talking about it would be good for him. He dreaded the thought of putting his experience into words. Even in the daylight hours, when all was well and the world was as it should be, merely thinking about The Dark Lands made his chest hurt and his hair stand on end. “Can I talk about it tomorrow?” “You can talk about it whenever you like,” Mario assured. He reached his free hand over to Luigi’s shoulder and tugged him into a playful side hug. “You’ve been here for me Lu, but don’t forget I’m here for you too! and I’m gonna keep being here, every step of the way. That’s a promise.”
Luigi smiled. Tears welled up in his eyes, far from the fearful tears that had plagued him moments before. “Mario…” Luigi set his ice cream down on the coffee table in front of him, rubbed his tears away on the palm of his hand, and plucked his little-big brother up into a bear hug. Mario barely had enough time to put his own ice cream down safely before being yanked into the embrace. “…We’re a mess.” Luigi chuckled, sounding happy at last. The shivering was almost gone, his breathing was steady, and his heartbeat was almost normal. Mario noted each of these things while he was pressed against his brother, and couldn’t help but smile as well. He’d be okay. Whether Luigi knew it or not, he was strong as either of them. It would take a bit of time, but they were going to be okay.
“Yeah.” Mario laughed, resting his chin against his brother’s shoulder, “we sure are.”

Going Live in 3…2…1…
GO
“What’s up everyone, Killer here. Today we’re going to be making a delicious Tiramisu that I like to eat whenever I’m having a hard time. My friend and coworker Quincy has been having some bad luck lately so I’m making one for her.”
The live chat was already spitting out messages more than Killer could read them. Most of them asking if he could send them baked goods for bad days too. He chuckled softly under his helmet, pulling his hair back into a low ponytail to avoid it going into the baking process. The fabric of his polyester blend muscle shirt stretched to accommodate Killer’s muscles without riding up his stomach and revealing his tight abdominals…too much. His jogger pants hugged his hips, perfectly framing his glutes and thighs.
“I can’t possibly make a dessert for every single person but take comfort in knowing that I’m rooting for you through your personal struggles. You got this,” pointing finger guns at the camera.
Turning around, he walked away to grab some ingredients and baking tools. The sound of pinging and comments going wildly in the background, a tad louder than the music on the speaker.
“This is a refreshing and savory dessert. I always feel like I’m biting into an espresso cloud and suddenly I’m a little bit happier, if only for a brief moment.”
Pulling out one mixing bowl, “First, we’re going to make our creamy filling. I’ll be using room-temperature mascarpone, cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. We’ll whip it until it gets nice and stiff. In between the whipping, I’ll also be dipping these lady fingers in this bowl of liquids – now I like to soak the fingers for about a minute to really soak in the espresso and liqueur. Makes the whole dessert just gush in your mouth.”
Killer was prepping the glass pan he was going to stack the layers in and he heard the transactions and notifications chime endlessly. What the hell was going on in chat today. He finished prepping the tools and ingredients before rushing to his phone to read everything.
Oh shit.
Oh fucking shit.
Killer did not mean to make any of his instruction sound as sexual as chat had perceived it to be. Oh no, the things he can’t unread. The blonde was incredibly grateful he kept his helmet on during all content creation, feeling his face break out in flushed flames. The echoing sounds of Kid and Wire’s cackling from inside the house only made it worse for Killer.
God damnit.
“Hng, er-uhm, as I was saying, once we get the…base ingredients prepared, we can get into some architecture. I think a good balance is about uh—2 to 3 inches of filling between biscuit layers, depending on how…erm…bloated the biscuit has become.”
As he loudly poured ingredients into the stainless-steel bowl, he quickly and quietly addressed the highlighted messages, not daring to repeat his answers before starting up the rotator blade. The machine Killer bought was a high-end model, it was a good quality standing mixer with a low humming drone when in use. Killer treated it as if it was a roaring engine.
“IT’S GETTING NOISY SO I’M GOING TO TURN UP THE MUSIC TO DROWN IT OUT. WON’T BE ABLE TO SEE MESSAGES FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES,” he spoke loudly as he used the remote to turn the speaker up.
Killer’s mouth was dry. He rushed to the fridge to pull out ice cubes for his water, plunking a swirly straw in the glass and draining his cup in seconds. Three times.
Feeling relieved, he made his way back to the island tabletop. He started soaking the lady fingers in the bowl and slowly layering the glass pan bottom with a row of soaked fingers. Once the bottom was covered, he checked the mixer. The creamy filling was looking stiff. Turning the machine off, Killer also lowered the volume of the speaker.
“You’ll see that the texture is ready when you can raise the blade and the filling is light, fluffy yet firm. You should be able to hold the blade upside down without the peaks falling or losing integrity. Now to make my life easier, I’m going to transfer this into a piping bag to fill the layers and then smooth it out before adding the next layer of lady fingers.”
Killer started to read out messages as he filled and stacked.
“_LickMeImurLollipop says,” he almost chokes, “’Marry me and I’ll make you a stay-at-home husband. You can bake to your heart’s content, filling doughnuts and whatever you want with your cream😏.’”
He took a long sip of water, “That’s a very tempting offer, Lollipop. I’ll keep it in my back pocket for a rainy day, ok sweetie?”
Using a flat blade to smooth the creamy layer, “JustAsking says or I guess asks, ‘Will you ever do a face reveal?’ The answer to that, as its been every time since my first upload, is NO. Please respect my boundaries, I’m a human being.”
“SchoolPunkRock says, ‘Been watching you since day 1 and I love your personality and attitude. And also your food. If you ever make a cookbook, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. I’d buy 10 copies.’ That’s really nice, thank you. That’s not something I’ve thought about but a great idea, nonetheless. I might explore that later. In the meantime, please keep supporting me on this platform by liking, commenting, and following!”
Killer squeezed the last of the filling over the lady fingers and started smoothing the surface. His finger curled under the table to press Kid’s call button. The redhead came through the door as Killer finished dusting a layer of cocoa powder over the dessert.
“Excellent timing! Now normally you’d want to let this sit in the fridge for an hour to let the flavors sort of sit there and blend together for a nice balance. Tiramisu is great at any time of the day,” Killer cut a square from the glass pan and slid it over on a small plate with a fork. Killer turned to put the pan in the fridge for later.
Kid was grinning into the camera, “’Sup everyone. Hope you enjoyed my buddy’s lesson today. In addition to potential book deals, KillerCook may soon be offering private cooking lessons over Vimeo, just you and him for up to an hour discussing…cooking or whatever,” his grin turned sly.
Killer choked in the fridge.
“All details to be forthcoming!” Kid finished with a wave of his hand over his shoulder.
Then with precise and exaggerated motions, Kid began a slow descent to pick up his plate and fork. His own gym shirt strained over his broad chest, muscles rippling underneath as he moved. Holding his plate in the air, arms flexing tightly as he used his prosthetic to lift the fork to his mouth, he winked at the camera before taking a bite.
As soon as he closed his mouth, a very thin line of dark liquid dribbled from between his lips. Kid’s eyes opened in shocked as he chewed.
“Whoa, that’s juicy!”
The pinging on the phone was going wild again. Killer quickly stood next to Kid before the knucklehead dared to answer a single message.
“What else?”
“Mmm shit Kill this is fucking great. The coffee and liqueur have that nice, bitter kick to the sweetness of the cream. The filling itself is fluffy but thick and flavorful. The balance between bitter and sweet is perfect man.”
“A perfect balance between bitter and sweet, what more can you ask for? With that in mind, we’ll be taking the Tiramisu I made first thing this morning to our friend. Tune in next time when I make a fun comfort food that’s also perfect for a sports ball pregame and/or tailgate – Philly Cheesesteak Dip. It’s easy to prepare and like everything else I make, slays. This has been Faffaffaffa-Food with Killer.”
Before Killer could turn the camera off, Wire and Heat burst through the kitchen doors. Heat opened the fridge to grab the insulated travel pack that contained the pre-made tiramisu, hoisting it over his head in triumph.
The 4 men stared into the camera while waving goodbye.
“See ya soon Quincy!”
“QUINCCAAAYY!!”
“You better be resting and not doing shit!!”
“Hope you like it, Quincy!”
End Livestream.
“Really, a fucking private Vimeo class?” Killer whipped his baking gear off and tossed the dirty dishes in the sink.
The three other men began howling with laughter.
“AYE! You shoulda seen the comments dude! You can really capitalize on this, whole frontier’s unexplored,” Kid explained through his tears of laughter.
Killer clicked his tongue, “Nooooooo, you’re not going to live vicariously through me because your OnlyFans account got shut down again.”
