at the same time it's worth reminding everyone that not every book is completely reliable. that's why we should NOT ban books. any books, even the worst ones, should be available. we learn critical thinking for a reason.

Loving reminder from your land history auntie:
North American golf courses have had 50-100 years of arsenic and mercury based fungicide and herbicides applied to their soils.
Do not eat anything that has been grown on a golf course or downstream from a golf course. I know it sounds cool and radical, but you are too valuable to poison yourself with heavy metals.
Protect each other, turn your local golf course into a pollinator garden, not a sex forest or community garden.

We are watching books being banned for having characters that are the new public enemy for doing nothing, we are seeing the demolition of public library books by the privileged, we are seeing knowledge being torn away from our youth, we are watching as the world destroys itself. Book bans kill. Taking educational tools away from our citizens kills. Keep all knowledge public and available.

Philadelphia students navigate school without access to school libraries – Pennsylvania Capital-Star
PHILADELPHIA – In 2020, Egypt Luckey graduated from Building 21, a high school in Northwest Philadelphia affiliated with the Learning Innovative network, which emphasizes real-world learning experiences. For the entirety of her high school career, Luckey never had a public school library available to her, and she thinks it put her at a disadvantage during the transition to college.
“I never had a library in school where I could actually go, sit, and enjoy reading because I am a bookworm. I love reading, writing, anything that has a creative expression,” Luckey said. “Not having that experience kind of set me back a little bit because I had these situations where I needed help but didn’t know what to do in those moments.”
A 2022 study by Rutgers University found that first-year college students who had prior high school research experience, especially those from schools with certified librarians, felt more confident in their academic research skills and performed better in using research tools and strategies, such as information and digital literacy, and the difference between a primary and secondary source of information.
“Our students need to develop the skills to learn on their own. [They need] the thinking skills to be able to discern information that they can believe, in order to become digital citizens,” Barbara Stripling, cofounder of the Philadelphia Alliance to Restore School Libraries (PARSL) said. “They need to be taught these skills, they need opportunities to practice them, and it needs to become who they are. They need to understand the importance of looking at multiple perspectives.”
PARSL is a nonprofit organization staffed by retired educators and librarians. It operates without external funding, relying solely on volunteers. The organization wants to improve public school libraries in Philadelphia, aiming to improve academic performance. PARSL produced a white paper earlier in 2023 addressing the link between students’ reading abilities and the shortage of librarians, proposing solutions that involve collaboration with the school district and City Council to secure additional funding.
In the School District of Philadelphia, the number of school librarians has declined over the past decade, from about 57 in the 2012-2013 school year to just one in the 2023-2024 school year.
Marissa Orbanek, communications officer for the Philadelphia School District said that the district does not have enough funds for all the positions that are ultimately needed and desired.
“We will continue to advocate for adequate and equitable funding for education so that historically underfunded districts, like Philadelphia, have the resources necessary to provide all students with access to the 21st-century learning environments, including libraries and Instructional Media Centers,” Orbanek said...
I'm not surprised the book banning is so bad, both in Texas and Pennsylvania. Outside of various pockets along the East Coast, a large contingent of Freemasons settled in those two states, in particular, post-Civil War. You can pretty much tie any area that had race riots to be heavy freemason enclaves, deliberately built up. Kansas and Atlanta, too. These groups should have been outlawed, a long time ago.

Please help to gather as many of these books as you can. We can not lose great literature. To me, books are sacred. I love books 📚 I just bought 5 of the books on the list. If everyone can buy one book, we can preserve these great books 📚
if you are in the united states, trump WILL be banning MANY books that were previously banned then unbanned. he will censor anything and everything that goes against his bigoted, ignorant rhetoric. these books will be taken off shelves for sale, and removed from libraries and public domains. if you have the funds, please buy these books or download them. get your hands on these books in any possible.
knowledge is resistance. resistance is power. do not let fascism win.
EDIT: here is the list i have compiled so far

Either Halloween is Bruce’s favorite holiday, or he hates it with every ounce of his cold, dark heart.
“Your heart is dark like chocolate milk, master Bruce.”
Thomas and Martha loved it and dressed him up in all kinds of costumes, — which he resents, he still remembers the haunted house Thomas was definitely NOT supposed to take him to, — a tradition Bruce resurrects with his birds.
“Baba, we could’ve ordered costumes. “
“This is better,” Bruce has been on sketching duty for the past 3 hours, and Damian watched in amazement because how is his line art so smooth?
This is more impressive than Batman, he concludes.
“Is this about Ms. Karenson calling you talentless?”
“No. This is about ensuring you have a lovely experience,” Bruce sticks a needle between his lips, eyebrows focused, “And showing Jessica I can sew just fine.”
Dick pops up, decked out as Fred Jones from Scooby Do (he would’ve been Daphne, but Tim claimed that, and Tim scares him)
“What badass dark hero are you going out as, B?”
“Elvira. What about you, Jason?”
Jason eyes his old Robin costume and decides he’ll be the funniest person here.

"Publishers accused the nonprofit of infringing copyrights in 127 books from authors like Malcolm Gladwell, C.S. Lewis, Toni Morrison, J.D. Salinger and Elie Wiesel, by making the books freely available through its Free Digital Library.
The archive, which hosts more than 3.2 million copies of copyrighted books on its website, contended that the library was transformative because it made lending more convenient and served the public interest by promoting "access to knowledge.""

I don’t believe it happens in the books but Percy telling Sally that “he doesn’t get to ignore you” while he’s fine with his dad ignoring Percy himself is extreme book Percy energy

Billford being canon is so funny because it low-key makes Stanley the protective sibling who doesn't know his brother's new boyfriend, but he doesn't like what said boyfriend has been doing to his brother and wants them to break up.
And then when his brother's shitty ex comes back with a plot to destroy the world but it's really just to get his brother's attention, he punches his brother's shitty ex directly in the face and tells him to get bent.

So I was doing some math, and I THINK Skully is almost as tall as Malleus without his horns
I think the main reference to his height is Epel being surprised they're the same age because he's taller than Sebek, yes? which I find interesting, considering Jade and Malleus -- two of the tallest guys in the main cast -- are also there. and, since I've never been one to not think waaaay too much about the absolute stupidest minutiae about fictional characters, I see two possibilities:
one is that Epel is extremely good at eyeballing heights (I actually do feel like he could be? like. I'd believe he can estimate someone's height fairly accurately by calculating based on the life stages of an apple tree, or how many apples tall they are, or something else apple-related like that.) and Scully does, perhaps, fall into that narrow margin between Sebek and Jade in height.
Tumblr media
OR two, out of the three certified Tall Guys there, Sebek is Epel's main frame of reference because he's the only one he's had any real interaction with for, let's be fair, pretty obvious reasons.

SO in conclusion, we still have no concrete answers and will probably have to wait until next year when we get his card profile, alas alas. 😔
