The JL fight a magic user who casts a spell on everyone where their biggest weakness will be displayed above their heads. If Batman takes notes later, then that’s not on him.
There’s the predictable ones like Hal where it says ‘Yellow’, Clark says ‘Kryptonite’, and Martian Manhunter ‘Fire’.
But then there’s the one where you need to interpret like Flash halving ‘Bound’, the Hawks having ‘Clipped’ which pertains to their wings or even the ‘Pride’ on Doctor Fate.
What’s weird is that Batman and Captain Marvel of all people have the same word:
‘Adoption’
Little does everyone know that it’s for two entirely different reasons. Batman can’t help but adopt. Batson doesn’t want to be adopted.
No one knows Captain Marvel is secretly a kid, so everyone thinks he’s like Batman, but just doesn’t adopt (or thinks Freddy & Mary or the Vasquez kids are actually his if they are in AU). But for the sake of comedy, let’s not have them.
Batman thinks there is some kind of kinship, and asks how he battles the urge to adopt? Captain Marvel is trying really hard to not run away (he doesn’t want to get adopted, especially not by Batman, the puns enough are going to be atrocious).
It would look something like this:
Bruce: and that’s how I got all my kids. Or at least most of them. I’m not sure if technically family friends count, but they still got their parents, you know?
Billy, does not in fact know: yeah… darn those parents ammi right
Ollie, wondering if they should put Cap in the JL parent group: oh, do you have any kids?
Billy: oh no, I can’t (Cue misunderstandings)
Bruce: I understand the urge to adopt is real, good on you for not giving in. We live a dangerous life style
Billy: We’ll we can’t help the fae brain
Bruce: the what?
Billy, he just heard the term before and thought it was the common word: you know, when you just want to keep and raise a kid for yourself
Bruce, thinking of the numerous tales of witches and fae using first born children as payment only to realise it’s their way of adoption: … huh
Billy, just wants to escape and hug his tiger: oh it’s really fine. Anyways I need to bounce, but we’ll see each other on Mondays meeting
Proceeds to ruffle everyone’s hair (he can’t help it, he’s taller than anyone and enjoys the feeling of ruffling hair instead of having his hair ruffled)
Batman: oh OH
Cue most misunderstanding where they think Marvel mentally adopted them. They all have daddy issues anyways, so it really shouldn’t be a surprise when they try to be the fae brain favourite.
HAHA YOU THOUGHT YOU WERENT GETTING DAD MARVEL, BUT JUMPED ON THAT BANDWAGON THE SECOND IT CAME OUT

The fact that Calypso initially resented Leo just based on his looks. Because he didn’t look as “heroic” as Percy or Odysseus. Or Jason.
The fact that Leo already believed that he was a mistake. That he was worthless compared to the others, because he wasn’t the stereotypical “Hero”
You see it so many times in the books- Leo doesn’t think he’s as important as Jason or Percy because they’re your archetypal “Big Heroes” and Leo’s just the Lowly Mechanic, the Seventh Wheel, the Comedy Sidekick.
Calypso only reinforces that.
The fact that, in the end, when it comes down to Leo or Jason, Leo decides to take the prophecy into his own hands and end his life because ultimately it’s better the Repair Boy dies than someone who actually matters.
Calypso made Leo feel worthless. And Leo’s lack of self-worth (which I believe is his Fatal Flaw) is ultimately what drives his decision to sacrifice himself and save Jason.

there is so much more to be said here but peeta's biggest flaw is his strength and kill me if you want but if you really think about it he's an extremely closed of person. and much more than katniss! when do we see him actually opening up to people - the only time he gets taken care of is when he's physically not well and needs help literally. ,,most of my nightmares are about you so i'm okay once i realize you're there” is sure a sweet and romantic quote but i see so much sadness in it. he doesn't want to be a burden. he doesn't know how to be comforted because maybe no one was there to help him after a bad dream when he was a kid - completely unlike katniss's experience. and what about those dreams that aren't about katniss. she retells her nightmares to peeta and he locks them all inside of himself.

i think the thing for me when it comes to izuna characterization (my personal take, there's no right or wrong interpretation of his 3 panels of screentime lol) is that i like to interpret him as actually very masculine and very traditionalist. i think he's fully committed to his idealized male self; it's just what that gender role looks like and acts like is extremely specific to the uchiha.

I'm reading Frankenstein, and the Monster is outright described as being yellow, so I'm curious about where the depiction of him being green came from.
However, I'm absolutely tickled by the idea of him being yellow while his bride is blue, to make Frankie's green.

kills me how long jo holds onto brad in breaking brad. like it’s really not until that final confrontation with zack that her loyalty to brad actually shatters and she starts seeing herself as the shark that’ll devour him. before then she still follows his direction, she’s devastated when she fails him, and she defends him and their relationship against even a suggestion that there might be a problem

for the most part i think powerscaling sonic characters is pointless and theres no objective answer to most questions of who is stronger or who would beat who in a fight because the truth is that the answer to those questions will always be determined by what works best for the story being told . however. it does kinda bug me when shadow is portrayed as significantly more powerful than all the other characters and people (whether it be official writers or people in the sonic fandom) act like none of the other characters stand a chance against him in a fight or whatever because thats just demonstrably not true. i mean yeah hes the ultimate lifeform but that doesnt mean everyone else is weak and powerless compared to him

I cannot imagine being a Damian stan right now. You've got both Zdarsky's bullshit (where he clearly doesn't give a shit about your boy) and The Boy Wonder (where Juni Ba clearly gives so many shits about your boy) coming out on the same day. The whiplash must be insane. I hope y'all get some nice warm soup for your efforts jfc
#damian wayne#damian al ghul#damian al ghul wayne#batman#batfamily#for all of the issues that come with having Steph as your fave having too much wild shit happening at once is never one of them#btw I quite like The Boy Wonder Issue 1. wow shocker an artist and writer who I have liked everything they've ever done#has once again written something that I am enjoying with art that makes me want to be part of its world.#it's almost like Juni Ba is really freaking talented or something#like I have some problems with it but it seems like many of those are part of the point. Damian is learning that his siblings are more#three-dimensional than he realized and that is part of this 'coming of age' story merged with fairytale#so I can't be mad at the oversimplistic defining of Dick and Jason and Tim until the conclusion of the series. that might be the point.#I hope that the series will address Steph as a Robin but if not then frankly it's not an issue unique to this series.#I'll be annoyed and disappointed but ultimately roll with it like I am with Babsgirl being here. There's too much good stuff here to get#hung up on shit that seems to be almost an editorial mandate at this point. at least that's where I'm at.#I am also very sorry that Chip Zdarsky is massacring your boy. he has 'X (Tim for him) is the best Robin so everyone else must suck' diseas#where a writer really likes one specific Robin and in trying to uplift them demeans all of the other Robins. instead of like...just writing#for that one character only or alternatively not demeaning the other characters in order to make his blorbo look good#it's wild because I actually think his writing for Tim is pretty solid. but he's not writing a Tim series. he's writing a Batman series.#and if you are going to write a Batman series and include other Batfamily members you need to actually write them well.#instead of assigning them like 2 personality traits while Tim gets to be a whole character#I accept that behavior in fanfic where I have lesser standards because it's fucking free. not a comic run that wants me to pay#tens of dollars in order to understand what the fuck is going on. he's been going for a while now it's gotta be a lot of money.#I can buy Steelworks with that money. I can see John Henry and Natasha Irons in a trade. Fuck you Chip.#it's why it takes such a special person to write a good ensemble story/a good Batfamily story. you have to be good at writing a LOT#of different characters. which I don't think most people are. I sure as hell am not. I can write maybe 3 at a time confidently well.#and you also have to give all of them at least SOME love or else people will be upset that you aren't focusing on their fave#and also the writing as a whole will suffer. Chip Zdarsky is a pretty good Tim writer. I'd maybe read a Tim solo written by him.#I would not read a story focusing on multiple characters that I like written by Chip Zdarsky. because every character who isn't Tim#is at least a bit weak/inconsistent/out of character INCLUDING FUCKING BATMAN. THE NO. 1 GUY MOST ARE HERE FOR

propaganda for caeru not knocking irt “it would be narratively unsatisfying but seeking is supposed to be”: despite everything everyone says the SMENdings actually do seem narratively satisfying to me. but like. narrative satisfaction above all else. they’re the only way to **end the story**. and i agree with everything everyone else said but also that is what he’s meant for. and i want to see him not do what he’s meant for. because if you go through with it it is for something and if you turn back it wasn’t and. you just have to accept that and go home. wouldn’t it be nice if the story closed not because it was ending but because it didn’t have to be a story anymore. what if instead of a story he had a life. yes i know he’s a fictional character either way but you know what i mean. let me beam the many emotions i have into your brain. what if you were all set up for a terrible death that you had assigned great meaning to and still decided you would rather be alive even if there’s no built-in meaning to it.

I hate it when people tell me ascending Astarion is bad because he "loses his soul."
Man what the fuck does that even mean?? What the hell even is a soul? Like tangibly what does that entail??? He doesn't massively change personality, he's basically the same dude as always, he just has his Bitch Boy gauge cranked up to max. He's not cowering in constant fear of Cazador's shadow anymore. He's a little bit cunty. He's a little bit more self-involved.
Those traits didn't appear from the ether, they were always there, he was always like that. Ascension just makes it a little more amplified. This man was always an evil little dickhead gremlin. Need I remind you that he thinks it is funny to interrupt that ogre/bugbear couple in the Blighted village and murder them despite them minding their own business? Need I remind you that if you're Dark Urge and you let the child in the grove die, if you tell Kagha it made you horny, he approves? Need I remind you he thinks gnome slave abuse is amusing? Even before he was a vampire at all he was racist toward the Gur so aggressively that they beat him to death in the street over it?
You can't explain those shit-ass dickhead opinions and actions away as a ~trauma response~, this dude is evil he is an asshole. He's been an asshole from the day you met.
"Souls" 🙄 man miss me with that woo-woo religious nonsense.
