Genuinely so curious who Mike thinks is gonna be buying The Cage or the new DCTL GN bc with the way he tweets as far as he's concerned, it's not gonna be:

The queer people he has actively admitted he will never show any representation of in the games.

2. The POC he has actively fought against representing in his franchise. [Who he also mocked for thinking they would be represented in his franchise]

3. The Bendy fandom which has always been concerned with topics of diversity esp in the sense of queer people since its creation. Who he has responded to really poorly esp in regards to the GN.

4. The fans who critique him. [He blocked me for doing so lol]

5. His fans in general who he tweets about like this currently. [He's being vague about why people were mad at him or sent him 'nasty messages' because if you actually looked into why you'd see he was in the wrong. Either way, a very hateful way to speak abt ur own fanbase.]

Reminder while Mike is trash talking his fans he has always treated them rather poorly. The fans who won the fanart contest for Chapter 5 never got their posters actually in game due to it being rushed. Not only was chapter 5 a big slap to the face story wise, but it was literally so rushed he couldn't be bothered to add in the art his fans gave him for his game FOR FREE. [Meatly blames this on a crazy timeline, reminder him and Mike are the literal ceos of this company. The proposal of future updates here is also pretty cruel considering Mike nowadays happily admits he corrupted Chapter 5's source code and therefore literally can't update it At All currently. Because he is a moron]

At least they got to be in Boris and the dark survival, and by that I mean that was the Only game they got to be in so far, isn't that just treating your fans like you love them? Shoving their hard work into a spin off game almost nobody has played or addresses much. [Hell, who knows if with the Lone Wolf rebrand they'll even stay there. In which case they'll be in None of the games, only in the credits of BATIM]

6. The Bendy fans who just generally disagree with him on stuff. Like the new ink demon design where there is literally a public poll showing people generally prefer the old one.

7. The Bendy fans who can see he is actively lying to them. To their fucking faces.

He says this has always been the case, but screenshots and links to tweets regarding the books being canon prove it was not. Does he really think bendy fans are stupid or something? [Unless he's admitting here he lied to Kress when he told her the books were canon which sounds worse!]

8. Anyone who doesn't like the idea of giving money to a guy who laid off tons of employees then afterwards thought it was a great idea to express his anti-union views! Also brag about how good of an employer he was, according to his employees, he was not!

So in summary; Mike is an awful person who has not learned anything from the awful things he did. I will not be purchasing The Cage because, combined with this and his absolute refusal to take any kind of critique or see any differing interpretation of his franchise, I have no reason to think my problems with the franchise will ever be addressed or fixed. I probably will pirate The Cage along with any future Bendy Products [Including the movie] and will do my best to avoid giving it any kind of monetary support. Unless this changes any time soon, I can't see myself making anymore positive Bendy posts soon.

Mike has just managed to make it so hard to speak positively or optimistically of this franchise when he's so willing to broadcast how little he cares about it or its fans. I'm at the point where I refuse to pull any of my punches with my problems with it. What's the point of trying to play nice with my critique when either way the people creating it don't care?

So with this post, I want to invite anyone who feels similarly about the franchise to tell me, make a post or send an ask talking about how all of this makes you feel. It may not change how things are, but genuinely seeing other people share my feelings of anger makes me feel better. It feels nice to see when other people share our same concerns and worries. I'd also love to know if anyone else thinks they'll be avoiding purchasing Bendy products over this.

I'm not forcing anyone to participate in it nor trying to say anyone who doesn't supports mike but genuinely maybe if we can collectively decide to boycott things like the movie, graphic novel and The Cage... It might at least make the bendy devs acknowledge how much they have destroyed their own fandom's faith and trust in them.

The way Mike tweets about his actions like he had no control over why people were mad at him at least proves to me he takes NONE of it back nor regrets it. If you didn't know about his actions and only went off his tweets, you would be led to believe Mike has been needlessly picked apart by fans over things he couldn't control [or in his own words, had his words twisted and taken out of context]. That is not how you speak about your actions if you have actually learned better from them.

anyway, that has been my bendy dev callout post. This is an open invitation to anyone feeling similarly upset about the way the franchise is going to talk about it. It's genuinely nice to see how people feel about this and the more we talk about the more it's likely the bendy devs are forced to address our concerns. I don't think they will but hey, that's why I'm not gonna support them with my money anymore nor am I gonna be nice to them in any content I make critiquing Bendy. I mean I'm also basically making this post just in case anyone asks me Why I feel this way towards to bendy devs/as a way to respond to anyone who thinks I am too harsh in my critique in the future.

As always, it seems the best part of Bendy isn't actually anything about canon but about what the fan's are creating with the ideas Bendy failed to do anything interesting with.

Fandom Memories: HMFarm

Hmmm. So, nearly a quarter of you whippersnappers wanna hear about the good ol' days, huh? Well, back in the day, you wouldn't just hang out on one or two big websites to try to find people who shared your niche interests among a million random users. Everything had its own dedicated site, with its own special pack of weirdos that you probably wouldn't find anywhere else. Home grown fandom, sprouting from the cement sidewalks of the freshly paved internet like so many weeds with pretty little flowers on top. So, let's take a little stroll down memory lane and visit one of the oldest fan sites with Archive.org's "Wayback Machine."

Ahh, just like I remember it. This here is "Harvest Moon Farm." 'course, we just called it HMFarm, like the URL did. This used to be the place to be. The prime progenitor of all farmin' fansites in the English speaking community. Maybe not the literal first, but up until around 2005, this was where you would go if you wanted to know anythin' about digital farmin'. It truly was a magical place to visit.

This screenshot isn't the oldest design, but it's the one I fondly remember. The majority of my time using the site was during the lead-up to A Wonderful Life, which was probably also when it was the most active as an information source. Seeing the screenshots, checking the forums, speculatin', wonderin', dreamin'... It's a warm feeling. I can't really describe how it felt to look at these shots for the first time. Granted, they were mostly sourced from various places like IGN or Newtechnix, but who wanted to go to THOSE messy sites when all the info I wanted was right here? IGN wasn't telling me how to revive the Vineyard in Harvest Moon 64 while I was waiting for AWL news either.

Our first look at the character we would come to know as Muffy, the sheer novelty of being able to go into the townsfolk's glorious, 3D-rendered rooms, the apparent misidentification of flowering tomatoes... The webmaster, Gamergirl87, would caption each one as well. Some of the captions of those screenshots ended up not being exactly true, but it was the closest thing to on-going coverage we really had. Who else was there to trust?

It's a little off topic, but I think at one point after learning about the GBA connectivity, I must have dreamed about this very gallery and seeing a screenshot of a Gamecube-ized Popuri with the caption that Mineral Town villagers would visit after connecting the GC and GBA together. At least, I'm pretty sure it was a dream. I've met some people who claim they saw the same thing, but none of us have been able to find that screenshot or comment again.

The one that would most catch my attention was the one on the left here. I didn't have a PlayStation 2, so I was coming fresh off of the GameBoy and Nintendo 64 when going into A Wonderful Life. The pond, the mysterious glowing plants, the mood and ambiance of their lighting, the little tree on the door... Naturally, I mirrored it on my first day the remake was available.

It's a real shame that the message boards are poorly preserved, since it doesn't look like there was a news post about the pre-order plush cow. I was hoping to find the name of whoever it was that convinced me to commit my first ever preorder. I still have the receipt, but without the forum post it's really only tangentially related to HM Farm.

'course, just learning about existing games and upcoming games wasn't the only good thing HM Farm was for. As I alluded to, there was a whole community here! While it's a shame that the message boards aren't well preserved by the Wayback Machine, you know what is?

The "ideas" list! This incredible time capsule was one of the first "interactive" parts of the site, starting in the year 2000. It's kind of fun to see how many of these ideas actually happened. Obviously, new characters and personalities were probably expected, but Animal Parade would eventually feature a honeymoon, several games have clothing and other customization, a mall, city, and pig would be added as soon as GBC 3, a goat would be in A Wonderful Life... It's actually amazing how prescient a lot of the suggestions are.

I'd share the whole thing, but the amount of e-mail addresses involved gives me pause. Still, there's a couple I wanna highlight:

Considering how often I still hear about people wanting to marry the moms and people attributing it to just "the fans getting older," it's funny to see Laserion lay out that, no, we've always been like this. Right down to using Manna's unhappy marriage and Lillia's husband never returning as valid reasons they should be available.

Tuan145, on the other hand, I just find extremely amusing because of the specific "2002 Escalade" part. Yes, this is clearly the ideal vehicle for all farmers in the Story of Seasons universe. This is now accepted headcanon. The boat was added in GBC 3 too, so obviously a 2002 Escalade is going to be added any day now.

Another thing that's amazingly well preserved is the site's fan art section. There's a few missing images here and there, but for the most part the entire thing is open to explore. People of basically all ages and skill levels happily submitted their creations, including original characters, digital art, traditional art, crossovers with popular series like Sailor Moon, a liiittle bit of drug use... Y'know, all the kinds of things you'd expect to see in a fan art gallery of the day.

Even better, some of the artists are still doing art today! Looking around, I quickly discovered one of my favorites, Rina Cat, is now on Blue Sky. I made sure to ask for permission to repost their art before including it here. Reaching out to everyone would be a bit much though, so I'll just encourage you to just browse the gallery using the Wayback Machine yourself. There's poetry and fanfics too!

There's a lot more to the site, including useful bits of history like keeping track of release dates for games, pre-release screenshots, and information that was only available on Japanese websites at the time, but I'll leave it at that for now.

Unfortunately, though the site continued to be updated until 2010 and stayed online until 2021, it's no longer available on the regular internet and the URL doesn't seem safe to access anymore. I wanted to include an interview with the former webmaster as well, but all their readily available contact information was tied to the website and I haven't had any luck so far in finding other means of contact. If I have any success, I'll be sure to make a follow-up! If you have any memories of HMFarm, or other fan sites, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Exedra Youtube Archival News

Hey everyone, I have some excellent news.

@abarero has reached out and will be taking over the archival youtube channel for Magia Exedra. It will be renamed from "MuffinExedra" to "AbareroExedra."

Abarero has been helping record videos already and has assisted in a ton of community projects, and I completely trust her to maintain the channel. She's also been given editor permission on the google drive.

I'm incredibly thankful for her stepping up. The Exedra youtube channel/google drive was something that kept me tethered to the game, and I felt horrible about leaving it behind. I was taking a small break and was going to start reaching out and looking for people who might want to take over the project (which felt like a large ask), but Abarero beat me to the punch. I think she'll be incredible at maintaining the channel and have full faith in her. I couldn't have asked for a better person to take over.

For those of you who have been assisting with recording: I appreciate every single one of you so much. I think that the archival work would have been impossible otherwise, especially with the heartphial nonsense being what it is. You guys are heroes and really stepped up for the community. I'll be reaching out to you all tomorrow to see if you'd like to assist Abarero in her archival efforts.

Thanks again for all the kind messages I received. I was miserable when deleting the account, but I already feel more free, like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders. I just can't do gacha games; I don't have the self-control for it.

I'd still like to stay in the community I think, just not as a player, but as someone who reacts to events and stories. I have many complaints about exedra, but it got me back into Madoka Magica and seeing the fandom revival has been super fun. Also the Oriko story made me super happy :)

I love how with a new influx of people getting into Nimona from it being released onto YouTube, there's a massive revival on jokes I remember everyone and their mom making back when the fandom first started. Hello, "ballister looks like a sad wet seal", how I've missed you. Oh hey, "never trust a blonde", it's been a while. And of course, the many Ambrosius memes, I almost forgot about you. I feel like I'm walking through my old hometown on a summer night, this shits great. I gotta find the og nimona shit posts and reblog em again, for the newcomers. The fandoms only existed for like half a year so like, it's an infant in fandom years, why does it feel like it's been around for decades lmao

Guys Divorcesteal is really good in a way that's destroying my sleep schedule!

Divorcesteal is a Minecraft SMP made by fans of the Lifesteal SMP (including a couple of my friends) with similar mechanics and more gay divorce.

On the server killing another player takes a heart from their healthbar and gives it to you. Which means you can only lose so many fights in a row before you're on zero and get banned. So you need to spend a bunch of resources either crafting new hearts or reviving dead players.

But unlike Lifesteal these aren't some of the best and sweatiest Minecraft PvPers in the world, they're… tumblr fandom dweebs. Which means there are fun fights, but mostly there's psychosexual torment, angst, and queerbaiting. Roleplay is king with everyone playing at least a heightened version of themselves, and so falling in love getting married and having an angry divorce is often a more significant kind of plotline than the combat.

But the really fun things from a viewer pov is the roleplay is just as competitive as the combat. Characters in the story keep secrets to advance their agendas, which means the players keep secrets from the other players. Because many people livestream their perspective or record it for youtube this means strict no stream-sniping rules. Players can't watch streams/videos marked :3 without permission and fans are told not to leak what they see.

Which is great!!! Because it means i get to talk to my good friend Will and say I'm so excited to see the next stream! And tell everyone else that I'm excited because :3 I know that next stream the person she trusts most on the server is going to murder her, which Will doesn't know!

The macro scale plot atm is the season ends in 2 weeks and various teams are firing off their endgame plans. Pathogen are building monumental architecture for obscure and sinister purposes. 1000 Suns formed with the plan of escaping to the End dimension and blocking access to it using advanced chunk banning tech so they could be safe. Pathogen found out by misc sneaky shit and they moved first. So now the server has no End portals at all and the whole dimension is inaccessible.

I'm currently fixated on Will's smaller team/polycule called Elysium, with Angel and ChipsEclipse. Will had secretly planned to join 1000 Suns in the End, but due to a combination of irl timing issues and personal (in character) beef it wasn't clear if Chips would be welcome. The plan became impossible due to not having an End to run away to, at which point Chips found out, felt hurt and abandoned, and decided to betray the team by joining pathogen and killing Will and Angel. Hence the :3 situation on Tuesday.

But of course being fucked up tumblr/ao3 kids everyone has decided to yes-and this situation to produce even more heartbreak and angst. Especially from the pov of Angel who wasn't involved in the murdering but was in the polycule and remains in love with both of them!

happy new year, everyone! 2024 has been a year of change for me in so many different ways, and i've posted very little fic this year, mostly due to writers' block and time constraints. so, instead of doing the writing round up i thought i'd list 10 things i'm grateful for in 2024 (fandom edition) and 10 things i want to do in 2025 (also, fandom edition). please feel free to make your own if you wish! consider this an open tag 🏷️

2024 - things i'm grateful for (in fandom, in no particular order)

2025 - things i want to do (in fandom, in no particular order)

1. read more, and read more broadly. expand my horizons a bit. read things that are a touch outside my go-to zones just to test the waters. read stuff by new authors!

2. spend time co-writing because that's actually my favourite thing to do. i have some things in the pipeline with a couple of people which i hope work out!

3. finish. the. damn. fic. (eurotrip). IT'S SO FREAKING CLOSE.

4. spend more time with my 2019-2021 beloveds - alex and henry. write more rwrb fic. engage in the fandom a bit more.

5. finish the ring-in 2.0 within 1 month of the LS finale (weep).

6. take one hand off the wheel with fandom relationships - my therapist tells me i need to stop trying to control how everyone feels about me and instead let people show me the kind of friendship they're interested in maintaining. scary because i think i may lose some people along the way but OH WELL WE BALL.

7. worry less about the engagement! god! i need to stop looking so much! *shakes fist at self*

8. write a little more regularly with less word count expectations.

9. learn how to be okay with smaller comments (from myself). sometimes i feel terrible if i don't write a damn essay but sometimes it stops me from reading which is horrible!

10. be a better fandom contributor than i was in 2024 - i think continuous growth is important and i'm always open to feedback (as long as it's constructive and genuine)! my mission is to always make a positive contribution and to make people feel good about themselves, and if i can even do that for one person in 2025, i think i will achieve this goal.

It starts with a slight fever. Jason thinks nothing of it at the time, simply assuming that the colder weather is getting to him. Finishing patrol early to get some rest and hopefully stave off a full blown illness, Jason makes his way to his nearest safehouse. He boils himself a nice cup of tea with honey, and curls up on the bed. Nice and comfy under the heavy winter blanket, Jason pulls out a book to read while he drinks his tea.

Except.

His body keeps growing warmer. At first, he blames it on the blanket and tea, and simply tolerates the warmth in order to not make himself any more sick. But it grows worse and worse, and soon he is kicking the blanket off in his need to cool down.

Then the cramps start.

Like the fever, they too begin small. Jason assumes that the fever and stomach ache indicate a stomach bug, and steels himself for the inevitable rush of nausea that will eventually overtake him. It never comes. Instead, the cramps simply grow worse and worse, and the heat overtaking his body starts pooling lower and lower until he feels that it can't possibly get worse please make it stop somebody help him-

Warm liquid gushes around Jason's thighs and suddenly Jason knows this isn't just some stomach bug. No. This is a heat. His first heat.

Jason curses. He knew it would happen eventually. He presented as an omega only recently, long after most people have presented and even mated. Although, most people don't die at fifteen and get revived via stinky mountain dew water. Still, just because he was expecting it, doesn't mean he was anywhere near ready.

Jason groans. What the fuck should he do? He knows he should call someone, but goddamnit he doesn't want to be seen as weak. He's the fucking Red Hood, he can handle a heat on his own.

Jason sits up, wincing as more slick leaves him at the motion. He chucks off his pants and underwear, avoiding looking at the large amount of liquid staining the insides. He'll deal with them later. He wobbles over to his closet and pulls out a box of things he bought after he presented, bringing it all back to the bed with him.

Sitting at the foot of the bed, Jason rummages through the box. All sorts of sex toys, from knot toys to anal beads, as well as lube and condoms fill the box. So many different options. He has some of his goons to thank for that.

See, Jason presented just a week and a half ago. While in a meeting with the most trusted members of his operation without his helmet or scent blockers, they all noticed the subtle shift from pup-non-presenting-unready to the sweeter scent of omega-adult-mature that came from Jason. Surely, Dick can't mean what Jason thinks he means? But, as Dick pulls away from Jason's neck and stares him in the eyes, he can see that it's true. Dick's scent confirms it as well, drifting around Jason in a mist of want-mate-court-love-mine-please-mine. Fuck.

Dick presses a chaste kiss to Jason's lips once more. "You don't need to say anything right now. Rest for now, we're gonna be connected for a little while longer."

Jason simply nods and closes his eyes, feeling Dick lower himself back down onto Jason like a makeshift blanket. As he drifts off to sleep, Jason's nose is filled with the smell of protect-sleeping mate- mine- safe-promise.

okay i changed my mind. i actually do want soc3 but only as a means of grishaverse fandom revival. like tbosas and sotr are smash hit digging up hunger games diehards from decade-old graves, partially because they’re objectively good books, but also in that they still allow the trilogy to remain pure and untouched in the kind of way where you can reasonably tag a fic canon compliant while having inconsistencies with the newer additions. so basically exactly what people are doing with kos/row already. and soc3—if done right, and i do trust leigh enough to revisit the duology proper with that kind of care (and by care i mean disregard of netflix canon)—could absolutely hit those lotto numbers. who doesn’t want to welcome a new generation into a beloved story. i hate to say it but most book series do need new canon to stay popular. and i care more about keeping the fandom alive than the potential of soc3 being mid or ooc. i am strong-willed enough to ignore its existence in that case.

It's actually crazy how much he low-key reminds me of kazuha from gi? So, anon, you've opened the Xuexiao/Hualian parallels floodgates... I strongly believe that Hualian are Xuexiao reincarnated for a second chance at happiness!

Here's why:

The overall vibes are there! The kindhearted, somewhat naive, and very powerful one trying to help people in a world with difficult and complicated problems x the morally dubious but surprisingly loyal one who does the necessary dirty work and makes the other smile.

The last act Xue Yang does to initiate their final confrontation is breaking Xiao Xingchen's door, first act Hua Cheng does for Xie Lian in the main canon timeline of TGCF is make a door for him.

Xue Yang attempted to revive Xiao Xingchen for 8 years, Hua Cheng waited 800 years for Xie Lian.

Xiao Xingchen descended his mountain at age 17 to help the common people. Xie Lian ascended to the heavens at age 17 to help the common people.

Hua Cheng is especially paranoid about Xie Lian touching corpse powder and committing suicide. Enough said.

Xue Yang tells Xiao Xingchen to never forget him when they part for the first time after Xue Yang's arrest. Xie Lian tells Hua Cheng to forget him when they part for the first time after Xianle's downfall and Hua Cheng insists that he won't.

There's a whole extra in the last book which is just giving Hua Cheng a reason to call Xie Lian "daozhang" and pretend to not know him.

Hua Cheng's sacrificed eye, Xiao Xingchen's sacrificed eyes, and Xue Yang's missing pinky... there's some synthesis of these in my head that I can't quite put into words but hopefully you see the vision (or lack of vision lol).

Hua Cheng's whole thing was that he had a very unfortunate childhood and would've died or become extremely fucked up like Xue Yang had been, but Xie Lian breaks the rules to save him, changing fate. If Xiao Xingchen had been there for Xue Yang as a child, things might've turned out differently.

Their whole relationship metaphor and what makes them work well together in fights is Hua Cheng transferring spiritual energy to Xie Lian regularly, just like what Xue Yang did to Xiao Xingchen.

Hualian can dual wield each other's spiritual weapons in a way that no other characters can, like Xuexiao.

Jun Wu tries to make Xie Lian evil and fails, and Xie Lian chooses to die over continuing down the route of evil as soon as he realizes what is going on, just like Xiao Xingchen did.

Xie Lian admits to revenge crimes he didn't do and Hua Cheng feels a need to right this injustice, a foil to Xue Yang dressing up as Xiao Xingchen to commit revenge crimes on his behalf, framing him.

Xie Lian was the only one who saw Hua Cheng's talent even when he was a complete nobody delinquent from an unimportant family, like Xiao Xingchen was implied to have done in the MDZS villainous friends extra.

Hua Cheng promises to come back after "dying" and Xie Lian just believes and trusts in him, as compared to Xiao Xingchen dying and Xue Yang trying desperately to bring him back, not believing that failure was an option.

I know people will probably come back around season 3, but I’m new to the fandom, and it’s sad to see how inactive it’s been lately. I wasn’t around during the initial airing, so I never experienced the fandom when it was really active, but it feels even worse now,it’s practically dead.

My question is, since you were here for both seasons, do you think there’ll be more activity when filming starts, or will we have to wait until 2026 for the fandom to come back to life?

Welcome, and... well, sorry it's not that active right now.

This isn't just something to IWTV - fandoms and fandom engagement has changed a lot over the last few years, it is more seen as content to be consumed and then moved on from, until something new happens, unfortunately. That is a more general tendency I have noticed, and it seems noticeably different to me, actually.

With that in mind - YES, I promise, this fandom will revive when anything new hits. And especially when the new season will hit.

Promise. Cross my heart and all that. :)

I think... it's just that for a lot of people - myself included - it was a bit sobering to realize we will have another 18 to 24 months break coming up.

However. Both seasons airing and the promotion leading up to them, and the discussions after are a rush and will be.

This will be the same, if not more for season three and counting. Because other than "IWTV", "The Vampire Lestat" has never been adapted before. Trust me, there's fans just waiting to pounce, figuratively speaking :))

It will slowly grow more active as soon as they start filming, with hopefully some casting announcements - or leaks. Then, first snippets, images and teasers will hit. For sesaon 2 they gave us almost a whole year(!) of teasers and trailers, and interviews, until it hit. With what Rolin has said about the "double album"... I don't think that will be different. And I cannot WAIT for SDCC this year - I BET they will give us something spectacular there.

You (we all) are in the quiet before the storm now. My advice? Take a deep breath, relax, and read fanfiction for the time being (I'm taking the time to actually write^^). Follow some blogs, or if you want, ask questions or read the books. :)

The rush will come. Promise.
