I'm gonna preface this by saying I have no problem with representation. I love queer stories, especially when they're organic and natural. I'm bi, and I've had fulfilling relationships with women as well as men. Honestly, I would love a spin-off on Brimsley and Reynolds. It didn't feel.....forced. the characters were new and their story grew organically. Michaela? No. I'm trying to articulate how I feel without sounding like I hate the queer community because I genuinely don't. I appreciated Benedict's story line even if it was a little jarring. He's exploring, experimenting and that's fine. It still doesn't take away from his story. But the introduction of Michaela felt like a guy punch. It felt wrong. I've never particularly like gender swapping in stories based on an original IP, because it changes a lot of dynamics. It changes a lot of story lines. And yes, it's fiction, but I'm sorry I cannot get over it, especially when it's such a blatant case of pandering. It makes me feel as if I'm wrong to question this change and I've somehow internalised homophobia. If so, then why wouldn't I hate other queer characters or be similarly uncomfortable?
Okay I think I can make my argument clear with an example. If anyone has seen the movie Love Lies Bleeding, I think they'll get it. The sexual orientation of the characters didn't matter. It felt right. And it was not important to the story. It was just an established dynamic and we could enjoy the plot easily. It wouldn't have mattered if it was a heterosexual couple or a homosexual couple, the story is largely unchanged. If Michael becomes Michaela, here's the issues I see. Who inherits Kilmartin. We've already established an estate will go to the next male heir if the current owner dies. A major part of Michael's story was his guilt over his inheritance and his imposter syndrome. His story arc taking his place in parliament. It's all gone. I mean, I know the show isn't interested in the plots other than the main character pairing but this felt so wrong. If they wanted a lesbian lead, the just make another show with original characters why force this? I'm not looking forward to Francescas season at all. I'm sure a lot of people will like it and that's their prerogative but for me, personally, the only thing keeping the story moving forward is Benedict. Maybe Eloise. But I feel like the story of the show has lost its charm and has dug itself into a hole like Disney or marvel
I think your points are really valid. Wanting the show to be closer to the books (and the original storyline) makes sense, especially if that's why you liked that story.
From what I have heard there are specific things in the books that won't work with a wlw storyline in the show, but I don't actually know the specifics. (✨I only read RMB and TVWLM✨. I'm sorry. I suck, I know.)
I very much want a wlw relationship in the show, but I don't really care which story it is. This is just a very obvious lead.
I'm hoping that Michaela is still Michael in some sense, whether it be as a trans love story (but I don't think the actress is trans so prob not) or as a Mulan-type story, where Michaela takes over the Earl-ship as Michael, an estranged cousin back after John's death. Michael and Francesca love in secret (because time period), and to the public she is Michael (or twins or something idk so she has to be both - like She's the Man) and at home she is Michael. Their Scottish home in the hills in basically bumblefuck? Excellent for concealing your wlw romance. And I could just imagine the Bridgertons knowing and still accepting it.
There is a theory that Michaela is a twin, but it's very obv they're going for wlw if Francesca's reaction is anything.
I'm sorry they're changing the story out of what you were wanting, but I hope you still find satisfaction in whatever they decide to make.

Can I request hcs about the batboys being a top/switch/bottom please? 💕
🥀A/n: YESSSSS!!! btw i will be yapping ab the differences between sub/bottom and dom/top 💀
🥀Character(s): Dick Grayson x reader, Jason Todd x reader, Bruce Wayne x reader
🥀Cw: smut, dom/sub dynamics, implied switch!reader, switch!character
🥀minors dni
Tumblr media
Dick Grayson:
i feel like Dick is a pleasure dom, he cares a lot about making you feel good and that often leads to him bottoming while still being dominant. he likes when you ride him and take what you need, but he simultaneously wants to be in control
out of the three, Dick is probably the most naturally dominant and is the one to prefer domming the most- i think he's a bit of a control freak like that, he won't outwardly show it but submitting is just something that doesn't come naturally to him
however, i do think he gets worked up a lot and needs to get his mind off of things, so that would be an opportunity for him to enter a more submissive role. that would take a bit of time, but once he trusts you, Dick will definitely be down to sub.
prefers to be a subtop, he likes rutting into you desperately and having you coo and tease him for taking you so desperately
as i've previously stated, when he's domming, Dick is a pleasure dom. your pleasure comes before his, and he's very adamant about making you feel good. while he's down to try anything that you want, he wouldn't be into physically hurting you or super hardcore bdsm, but i do think he can be a bit mean at times. he's a HUGE tease with insane stamina and will edge you for literal hours until your begging, then overstimulate you until you cry
however, when it comes to subbing? he's either a whiny brat or a genuine sweetheart.
when he's bratty, Dick will tease you and mock you for not fucking him hard enough, he wants you to be mean to him and fuck him absolutely stupid until theres not a single thought left in his brain
he's also into kinkier things, he wants you to treat him like the mindless slut he knows he can be. its kind of a corruption kink, in the sense that everyone always views him as the perfect golden child. you're the only one who gets to see how needy and horny he actually is, and he genuinely views subbing as an opportunity for him to be as kinky and depraved as he would like without judgement. it's actually kind of sweet that he feels safe enough around you to show you that side of him
speaking of sweet, Dick is not always a brat when subbing. sometimes, everything is a bit too much, and instead of wanting to be fucked out of his mind, he just wants to be taken care of. these days, he's more clingy during sex, needing your praise and attention at all times. Dick is a lot more susceptible to slipping into subspace during these times, in which he'll cry and cling to you, desperate for just one more climax.
a lot of the time his brattiness will slowly melt into his softer, needier side, and theres an important distinction between the two. when he's acting out and being bratty, Dick craves your attention, and enjoys being degraded and mocked. however, when he's more emotionally vulnerable and soft, he can't take any degradation without crying.
after subbing, Dick is a lot clingier during aftercare as well, especially if you were being mean to him. please reassure him you didn't mean anything that you said when degrading him, he's still in a sensitive state of mind and needs that reassurance
overall, i think the sexual roles Dick falls into most are pleasure dom and sort of a pillow princess sub (yes ik thats a wlw term but idk how else to describe it im sorry 😭) and he's overall very versatile during sex
Jason Todd:
bottom 🫵🫵🫵
in all seriousness though, Jason is a very versatile switch in my opinion. he's a lot more inclined to subbing than the others, and is actually more comfortable bottoming than topping. he's a strong guy, he's fucking huge, and he's constantly afraid of accidentally hurting you. when he's bottoming, its eases some of his worries about accidentally crushing or hurting you
Jason is either a strict dom, a power bottom/dom bottom, or a genuine sub in my opinion.
some days he's a strict dom, and s but of a brat tamer. i also see him being a bit of a sadist, but only if you were 1000% into it and if you had established safewords. he's whispering filthy words in your ear and talking to you like your trash, but treating you so sweetly that your brain goes fuzzy. its just so confusing when he's fucking you so well, and every thought is engulfed by the rising pleasure in your abdomen.
Jason is any type of dom that you need, if you're tired and needy and want his attention, then he'll gladly take care of you and be all sweet and gentle. however, if you're acting out and being bratty on purpose to get a rise out of him, then he'll treat you as such.
he's a bit meaner like this, and while he's still prioritizing your pleasure, he's definitely the one in total control. however he's very insistent on using safe words and making sure your comfortable, he would never everrr want to hurt you
i think Jason would enjoy battling for dominance, especially if your a switch as well. theres something very carnal and attractive about you both struggling to stay in control, and seeing which one of you will end up on top
i also see Jason as a power bottom though, in all physical senses he's subbing but you both know he has control. this also makes him feel a bit safer about hurting you, as your the one taking what you need and controlling your position, however he still is the one calling the shots. he's sweeter like this, praising you and cooing sweet nothings as you ride him.
i do also believe he can be a sub tho. he prefers simultaneously subbing and bottoming, because while it is more vulnerable, it also gives him the opportunity to relax. when he's a sub and topping, Jason is often too fucked out to pay attention to how tight he's holding you and whether or not he's hurting you. being on the bottom assures him that he won't have to worry, and that he can just let his mind go blissfully blank. Jason is very comfortable subbing with someone he trusts, and he can be a bit of a masochist at times.
Jason is a very needy sub, he wants to be taken care of and fucked out of his mind. he's a lot more vocal when subbing, but still prioritizes your pleasure and comfort over his own.
overall, once he feels safe with you, Jason is comfortable in many different sexual positions and will honestly usually just let you take the lead and decide how you want the night to go
Bruce Wayne:
again, another switch. i feel like Bruce is the most mellow out of the three, especially as he's older, and isn't as up to date with sexual roles and things like that. he's familiar witth some of the basics, but in all honesty he's down to try whatever you would like
whether or not he doms or subs truly depends on his mood, and he has no preference about topping or bottoming
when he's pent up or irritated, Bruce prefers to dom, taking the lead and making love to you. i think he's a brat tamer more than anything else, if you act out he'll treat you as rough as you like but if you want him to, he can be soft as well.
Bruce is a very attentive dom, taking note of everything you like and dislike while observing your reactions. he only really doms when he feels like it, so he's a little bit miffed if you try to take control. Bruce is the biggest control freak out of the three of them, and wants everything to be perfect when it comes to you both sleeping together. this often leads to him overthinking and getting into his own head a little, however that can easily be remedied
when he subs, Bruce is a little shy. it may seem out of character, but admitting to weakness is not something that comes naturally to him and so he tends to clam up and wait for you to take the lead. that doesn't mean he isn't enjoying himself, he just needs some time to adjust
it took Bruce SO long to realize he was a switch like he spent most of his life internalizing his desires because people always assumed he was a top/dom. once he's dating you, he becomes increasingly interested in subbing, but you'd probably have to be the first to initiate that kind of thing
because he's never had the opportunity to sub for most of his life, Bruce starts to develop a preference for it. that doesn't mean he doesn't dom anymore though, and he's definitely still very much a switch.
with the right partner i can definitelyyyyyy see him being bratty, but most of the time he's pretty tame. Bruce is often very tired when he's subbing, and takes it as an opportunity for him to relax and let you take the reins. i think he's the type to slip into subspace VERY easily and become very talkative because of that. he's not vocal at all leading up to that, but once he slips into his own little headspace he's suddenly moaning like a pornstar and getting all clingy and needy!
all in all, i see Bruce as a switch leaning sub who is more than willing to accommodate any of your sexual preferences
this got, like, weirdly deep and analytical for what was supposed to be smutty hcs 😭😭😭 anyways!!! hope u enjoyed!!! i really cannot tell if i like this or not so plspslplssss lmk what yall think ♥️

Apology in Advance for the probable incoming Sulemio v Destiel Poll posts.
There are layers to why the dumb ship poll has me feeling so passionate, some are: -Sulemio more or less checked off a Bucket List Want I thought I would die before seeing it become a reality. That being: a Sapphic Anime couple where the main focus and story doesn't revolve around discovering or accepting their sexuality and showing it can be a successful story public perception wise and money wise (G Witch has some of that self discovery stuff but it's like a D or E level plot). And having it so the gay relationship can't be perceived away as besties or sisterhood or with a Bury Your Gays end. -wlw/GL ships constantly getting overshadowed by mlm ships or get played down to hype up mlm ships because "there can only be 1 lgbtqi+ ship" mentality in fandoms. -Sulemio fandom was vibing and more or less quiet until this rewoke us up here on Tumblr. We are all once again speaking and writing deep analytical lengthy posts about how deep, well written and portrayed the love between both characters were not only in subtext but throughly explicit sentences in dialogue or actions of Suletta and Miorine, and the world around them. I am very happy to join in and revisit the awesomeness that their story was since I can't truly replicate the journey that was watching their story as it developed in real time. (Shout out to my 2 het cis male acquaintances who nagged me to give G Witch a shot back when only ep 0 and 1 were out you guys freaking amazing. Bros gave me unforgettable memories.) -But a big one I see not getting talked about a lot is how this match up is giving a big and much needed reality check to western-media-live-action-only-consumers/fans that: Just because something is an animation it does not make that type of art/storytelling/show/whatever you want to call it inferior to live action. A few years back I saw so many west live action tv fans shit endlessly and mercilessly on Magical Girl Utena because of a similar ship poll where it had come down to live action fandom ship vs canon anime ship. (iykyk, I don't want to restart that shit up again since it hurt a lot to watch as someone who liked the ship that was leading but didn't watch Utena-I'm too weak for that hurt- see the show and its contribution towards actual wlw/gl representation get shit on) A lot of the criticisms and punchlines of statements were mocking people for getting attached to cartoons as "grown ass adults"; a criticism any animation enjoyer probably knows all too well. Post so many animation shows in western streaming sites get cancelled or be erased and locked behind vaults because the CEOs think there is no fanbase or value in creating animation, this sentiment more towards animated shows with depth in their stories. I think back to that poll and the ensuing shit show. To think about that back then and see a reflection of that situation with the Ship (Sulemio) that has been stated to be inspired by the ship from Utena (Utenanthy) that was shat on so much by similar media consumers back then who perceived and said animation is a lesser form of storytelling-after seeing so many animation shows I enjoyed get cancelled because of this same sentiment from people thinking no adult wants animation as entertainment- to see Sulemio beat "the greater known" ship from a western live action media show that didn't even want the gay representation associated with itself, it feels like properly bandaging a seeping wound that you were letting "dry out". This all still feels like ship war with ships and fandoms that shouldn't have reason to beef, but the catharsis of seeing such a: powerful, moving, and overall amazing story that is Gundam the Witch from Mercury (free on Youtube to watch btw) and Sulemio's love story get recognized when it still feels like animation as a storytelling device gets looked down upon and has partially been erased, is making me cautiously optimistic that maybe in a few years we can get our amazing in depth animated shows that got taken away because animated storytelling is "just for kids" or "isn't good enough".

yknow what... Here's a list of Hatchetfield Rarepairs that I think are neat!
Some l've thought up, some may already exist.. Either way I think about them constantly, and I need to share my brainrot.
23oz Chai - Paul 23 / Ted Spankoffski
- workplace crush but, plot twist, one of them is a clone
- Ted confesses, and Paul 23, even though he's unsure if the real Paul would go along with it, accepts anyway.
- everyone in the office reacts to it in shock, and they are convinced it is an elaborate prank. (Its not)
Cat Sweater - Charlotte / Melissa (Charlissa)
- Melissa supports Charlotte through her rocky marriage. Sapphic feelings ensue!
- They bond over their love of cats!
- Crazy cat lady and her sopping wet cat gf!
Dirty Boy - Mark Chasity / Boy Jerry
- Two repressed religious men grappling with internalized homophobia!
- A lot of gay denial and religious guilt in this one!
- Also, Jerry's nature rubs off on Mark a little. Maybe they go a little off the walls together!
Donnapiro - Donna Daggit/ Detective Shapiro
- They start out disliking each other, Shapiro not liking how Hatchetfield News reports crime and Donna despising Shapiro for getting in the way of their journalism
- Slowly, their competition becomes incredibly homoerotic.
- Enemies to lovers, reporter x detective yuri. Solving crimes and being sapphic!
Fast But Pricey - Barry Swift / Frank Pricely (Priceswift)
- I have little justification for this one but.. ldk, I think they would be fun together.
- Frank is just really lonely, let him have a gay lover.
- Their relationships moves fast. (Barry is in a hurry! And Frank is so alone he doesn't mind.)
Latte Bottay - Zoey Chambers / Emmdroid (Zoemdroid)
- They bond over a dislike of the real Emma!
- Zoey is surprisingly chill with the robot thing.
- This also works pretty well with 23ozChai. Paul 23 gets his work crush, Emmdroid gets her work crush, its a win win! bonus wlw mlm solidarity!
Nibblinda - Nibbly / Linda
- Linda treats Nibbly to fine meats and sweets. In return, Nibbly eats her dad and protects her. Overall, a pretty sweet deal!
- Perhaps, they get a little blood on their hands.
- Linda chews people out (figuratively), and Nibbly bites them (literally)
Plastic Cars - Gerald Monroe / Tom Houston
- Hear me out.. Divorced dads realize they are gay... for each other.
- Tim gets a new dad, instead of a new mom.
- Again, I must stress.. middle aged men in love!
Sheiloway - Sheila Young / Miss Holloway
- This is ooc as fuck but the enemies to lovers calls to me.
- They both get someone to confide to about the struggles of lord shenanigans and near immortality
- wlw witches!
Showstoppers - Henry Hidgens / Pokey
- Theater nerds who will murder at the drop of a hat.
- I mean, Pokey did include Show Stopping Number in Inevitable, so that's a little gay.
- They are both just.. really gay tbh.
Spoiled Cat - Linda Monroe / Charlotte Sweetly (Charlinda)
- I think pairing a mean rich lady with a sweet, but this close to losing it, lady is very fun.
- Tbh, I just think the day Charlotte dates a woman is the day her entire world changes.
- Also, I think Charlotte should be allowed to be a little mean for once. Linda would help her be more assertive.
Tentacle Bastard - Wiggly / Ted Spankoffski
- Wiggly steals his brother's toy, and gets more than he bargained for!
- Wiggly tries to scare Ted with his big scary octopus form. It does not have the intended effect!
- Wiggly keeps trying to terrify Ted, but jokes on him Ted is into that, and that flusters him. However, Ted's unabashed bastard confidence has an unexpected side effect: Wiggly catches feelings
Webworship - Webby / Karen Chasity
- Karen finds a new god(dess) to "worship"!
- Unsatisfied wife summons a goddess for some company, and the goddess doesn't mind!
- A little bit of religious guilt in this one, as Karen goes against her beliefs by beginning to "worship" a new god, but its still mostly wholesome!

I need DunMeshi fans to understand how you can use statistics to bias your audience in a specific way. For example, take a look at the gender pairings on AO3:
Tumblr media
Oh no! This show about sapphic women has a lot more mlm fics! The entire fandom is missing the point!
But wait, let's actually break down the ships a bit to see what's what.
Tumblr media
Oh! Farcille has over 100 more fics than the next top ship!
How many fics are there anyway; what's the pool size we're looking at?
Tumblr media
24.8% of fics total are Farcille, who also makes up 88.7% of the wlw tag. Looking at the pairing statistics is a very small piece of the puzzle.
Okay now I have a new question for myself, and that's why is it the multiplicity of mlm ends up being more than wlw considering the powerhouse that Farcille is? So... let's look at a character list. Gonna use the fandom wiki for this, so there is a bias there, but hopefully it has gathered all the named characters from the anime and manga.
Women: 28 Men: 30
Oh how odd. I was expecting there to be more male characters overall than female, but here we are almost equal from that list. But... let's take something into consideration: a great chunk of our female characters are part of Toshiro's party or of the Canaries, both of which are either incredibly new or yet to be introduced. We've also included Chilchuck's family, which I'm 50/50 on if they should be included. And to be fair, we should also remove Senshi's mining party, so let's see what changes then.
Women: 15 (with Izutsumi and the Tims)/9 (without) Men: 22 (with Yaad's folks)/13 (without)
This isn't a perfect system since we're still including characters that haven't been seen in the anime yet and/or be someone to catch a writer's eye, but you can see with the "withouts" up there, where I tried to trim it to anime only and popular characters (ie Mithrun), we have a slight bias towards the male characters.
And when you look at the main roles
Women: Daya, Falin, Izutsumi, Kiki, Leed, Marcille, Namari, Rin, Tade Men: Holm, Kabru, Kaka, Kuro, Laios, Mickbell, Mithrun, Senshi, Toshiro, Thistle, Yaad
Orange means not properly introduced but still fairly popular Purple means has had gender confusion
Here we go, now we're seeing it.
There are simply more men in larger roles here than women.
There's still far more to unpack here, including yes, a bias towards mlm slash, but for the most part it's just.
Use your thinking caps guys. Don't just blindly believe a screenshot that says x.

welcome to total drama wlw week! (introduction/pinned)
the purpose of this event week and blog is to celebrate and shine some light on an overlooked part of this fandom, and give some love to wlw creators who are often unappreciated for their work. as well as promoting wlw ships that aren’t always given a lot of love!
EVENT DETAILS & RULES:
drawings, fanfics, animations, edits, posts of headcanons, pinterest boards, socmed AUs, etc. are all allowed!
you can make as many posts as you want!!
you don't have to post every day!
tag #tdWLWweek24 on any social media posts
this is a tumblr based event, so post your works on tumblr, but feel free to participate/spread the word on twitter, tiktok or whichever social media you prefer to promote your work as well.
the prompts are guidelines more than rules, but do try to follow them (especially for art & fanfic)
you can choose one of the prompts given on each day, or if you’re feeling creative, try to combine them both!
it doesn’t need to be ship content! you can write an analysis of your favourite girl character through a queer lens, you can draw her wearing the colours of the bisexual flag, you can write a oneshot of two lesbians being best friends, etc.
for ship content, please make WLW/sapphic ships the MAIN FOCUS, not sidelined or briefly mentioned alongside straight or mlm pairings. fics/art that centre non-sapphic pairings will not be reposted.
celebrating other queer identities in this event is of course fine (trans, non binary, aspec, etc) but the centre of the event is wlw/sapphic identities so be sure to make that the highlight.
you do not have to be wlw yourself to participate, but of course always listen and make room for wlw creators & do your best to represent wlw stories with guidance from your wlw mutuals & friends <3
if you follow all these rules, you will be reposted/reblogged by us!
the rules listed are not to limit people in their creativity but just to ensure this remains a wlw/sapphic centred event, in order to highlight & celebrate wlw specifically.
PROMPTS & DATES:
DAY 1: thursday, 24th october - campfire / historical au
DAY 2: friday, 25th october - sunlight / butch character
DAY 3: saturday, 26th october - put a spin on a myth, ‘canon’ literary story, or fairytale that includes your pairing of choice (the tale be from any culture or country of origin!)
DAY 4: sunday, 27th october - rollercoaster / superhero au
DAY 5: monday, 28th october - robbery / proposal
DAY 6: tuesday, 29th october - double date / horror au
DAY 7: wednesday, 30th october - free prompt / rarepair
BONUS: thursday, 31st October - write something for HALLOWEEN!
EXTRA INFORMATION:
this is a blog I started as a response to a lack of appreciation + overall content being made for wlw/sapphic fans of the show! many wlw creators have been making content for ages and not getting a lot of appreciation, and (like many other fandoms) it seems that our pairings and stories aren't given as much of a spotlight or appreciation as heterosexual or gay ones.
I also thought it would be fun! There's no pressure to make lengthy 20 chapter fics or portfolio-ready fanart for this event (though you are perfectly at liberty to do so), you can also make pinterest boards, share headcanons, create socmed AUs, or whatever creative outlet you choose, to celebrate the wlw characters and pairings YOU love.
once this event week is over this blog will remain active, reblogging any posts that are late or just sharing more wlw headcanons, content and rarepairs.

It's funny how so many of the factors that make people complain about Korrasami being bad and underdeveloped today is exactly why I still think it holds up as one of the least bland wlw ships that I've ever consumed.
Yes, they could have done more without necessarily hurting their story, I'm not saying no elements of the writing could be critiqued (I myself have some), but overall it worked really well that they let their relationship be overall unmanifested for this particular narrative and character journey.
Korra's journey was served by being concluded with an underplayed, gentle, vulnerable, implicit potential romance with the last person she would originally have considered, after having a disastrous relationship with a dude that forced itself into the forefront of everything and was emotionally explosive, rushed and overplayed.
This narrative and overall character journey implies a contrast and informs the relationship with the kind of mature love that Korra and Asami would share, without needing to spell out everything and forcefeed us all their Complexity. They never needed to make Korra and Asami enemies and constantly at each other's throats to portray them as each other's balancing opposites, because the characters themselves were easily carrying that dynamic.
Yeah, it may not be the forefront of it's story, and yes it builds on top of a love triangle where Korrasami was not originally set up, yes the development between them took a supportive role compared to Korra's individual story, yes the story allowed Korra other significant connections, yes Asami is a much more subtle character compared to Korra, yes they didn't get a ton of toxic Conflict to make them More Dynamic,
but that's also why it's actually an interesting, authentic and relatively unique romance, that at the time it came out, was genuine surprising to watch, and still remains that quality.
Just giving a romance a heck of screentime and ComplexityTM doesn't necessarily make it stand out in a sea of romance stories pumped out by the industry every year. People have written love stories for literal centuries where the main pair gets 100000 scenes together with conflict, development, kissing and sex scenes, etc, and it doesn't mean even 1% become true classics.
So what makes a romance truly special?
I think elements of nuances and context make a romantic story much more unique - it's the scenes around a romantic scene and the character context build into the story that will make it truly intimate, just as much as the actual character interactions. The romance stories that reached my heart when I first watched/read them have never been the ones that necessarily carried their story, or were build upon a redundant amount of scenes, but much more about how they were interwoven into their story and most importantly, portraying truths of genuine intimacy when they actually do get to interact.
Korrasami doesn't suck today because we have had more explicit wlw representation since. On the other hand, it just underlines why we didn't need it just for the sake of representation. Korra holding hands with Asami was, narratively, the best ending, because that's how they loved each other - they were gentle, and patient, and understood the journey they both wanted with each other, so there was no rush for them. They'd grown past the relationship immaturity they demonstrated earlier with Mako, and they never needed to suck face on each other to prove that OMG LESBIANS ARE REAL AND HAPPENING IN OUR SHOW.

Propaganda:
For Orufrey: "They're tragic wlw who have devoted their lives to each other since they were kids. They live together, they cook together, they're raising four girls together and they're doing the best they can. Olruggio would do anything for Qifrey if Qifrey would just Let Him 😭 but Qifrey is dead-set on protecting Olruggio and keeping him safe and in the dark no matter what it costs... i cant 😭..."
"Man I don't know they just have the vibes. They have toxic yuri energy but they are two grown men. They've known each other since their apprentice days and have stuck together ever since. Qifrey's main magic type was something he took up because Olruggio proposed that he learned to control the water he feared. They live together away from most of society with Qifrey's four apprentices, living the sapphic cottagecore (ateliercore???) dream. Qifrey, due to the fact that his eyesight is very much failing, something which is very problematic when it comes to witches, who need their eyesight more than most, is getting very desperate to get all he lost to the Brimhats, the witches who took one of his eyes and his memories, and Olruggio ends up noticing this pursuit and is implied to have done this more than once. Qifrey does not want Olruggio to know about both his failing eyesight and his goals, so he ends up completely wiping Olruggio's memory of those things, and laments that Olruggio is a kind person, and one who would most likely forgive him again, but also one who would try to save him, even when he didn't want to be saved. He also apologized right up until the moment Olruggio's memories of his secret were gone. In general I think chapter 40 is the somewhat toxic guy yuri chapter ever. I'm very tired so I do not know how to explain any of this, I just thought "wow Orufrey reminds me of this one poll I saw on Tumblr" and then spent three days straight hunting for your blog before completely forgetting my reasoning for Orufrey being yuri right before I submitted this."
For Bruabba: "Jojo transcends gender"
"Just look at them. So much wlw swag, Bruno was also designed to have a 'feminine silhouette' (mangaka's words, not mine). Abbacchio follows Bruno on a suicide mission to kill the mafia boss after telling Bruno he's only at peace by his side. They met while Abbachio was in the middle of a depressive spiral after his friend's death (that he's partially responsible for) and Bruno gave him a new purpose in life. Abbachio is kind of a bitch overall but he's always protective of Bruno and his nicer side mostly shows around him. Tragic mafia gay yuri"

I just found out about the JSR TV pitch
Back in 2021, someone – a writer named Shakira Pressley – pitched a Jet Set Radio animated series, and SEGA was actually all for it. Unfortunately, there weren't any studios that wanted to make the series because they had no confidence in JSR's recognizability (yes, that was seriously the reason). Pressley explained the whole thing in this Twitter thread.
I wish this series had been greenlit because the art looked amazing and the pilot script absolutely hooked me. Here are my favorite parts of it:
The races of each member of the GGs is clearly stated—Beat is Japanese, Gum is mixed Japanese/Filipino, and Tab is Brazilian. This is likely because Tokyo-to is vaguely described as being "somewhere in Asia" and a mix of Tokyo and the Bronx. The GGs have always been multiracial, but it's great to have more specific descriptions.
The GGs start out as just Beat, Gum, and Tab, and they're very tightknit. Beat even calls them his family more than once; he's really cute in this story!
Gum is like the big sister of the group. She nags at the boys to get their acts together, and she's always reminding Beat they need to recruit more members for the GGs. Also, she's wlw! She broke a Love Shocker's heart, and the whole gang showed up in front of the GGs garage to get revenge.
Tab doesn't have a lot of lines, but there's this recurring joke he does where he sides with whoever is against Beat at the moment, just for the giggles.
Rhyth is the leader of the Love Shockers, and she's the one who led the revenge. Perhaps she's the Love Shocker that Gum dumped...?
Garam is in this, too! He's the first new member of the GGs, and is basically the guy who got Beat to let go of his distrust in strangers. In the script, he introduces Beat to the concept of individuality and using art to express emotions.
I really loved Beat and Garam's dynamic. They hit it off instantly, and though they do bicker when their differing principles come up, Garam doesn't hesitate to help Beat out during police and gang chases, and Beat really does look up to Garam. The way they are at the end of the episode, it's like Garam is the cool and aloof big brother while Beat is the hyper and slightly obnoxious little brother.
Overall, it's just nice to see these characters with fleshed-out personalities and fun interactions. I hope someone is willing to pitch a JSR series again, now that the game is making a comeback.

My updated GMMTV 2024 lineup in order of my preference: (these are only the QLs. Most of the het shows fall under my Indifferent category. If I feel like it, I'll watch them.)
Revamp. Previously: The Vampire Project. Love me some vampires <3. Also, BounPrem.
Sweeth Tooth, Good Dentist. The plot sounds super fluffy and cheesy, so of course I'm in. And no way I'm missing Mark Pakin first lead. (Also, as a dessert-loving person who had many teeth-related problems as a kid, the premise just sounds too relatable. Except the falling in love part with your dentist obviously.) But... JittiRain. I have complicated feelings for her works.
ThamePo/My Heart Skips A Beat. It seems soft and sweet, though it does have the secret/forbidden relationship overtones.
Ossan's Love. I found the trailer hilarious, but trailers, especially pilot trailers lie. Also, I'm not hearing the greatest things about the original, but I haven't watched it so I will reserve judgement. If I like it I'll like it I guess.
Us the series. You might ask how a GL ended up so low in my list. Personally, it's a bit jarring to see BLs have this safe space/bubble for their gay bois, but GLs are proclaiming love between women as "taboo" off the bat. I also saw this in 23.5, and yeah okay I get it, wlw is seen in a much harsher eye sometimes, but in 23.5 all Ongsa did was go on repeating "But we're both girls..." without explaining the why and resolving it properly. For now, I will not think too much into it, and worry about it when the time comes.
Finished Airing:
We Are. It's absolutely great for my tastes and I get to detox once every week. Love it. Has absolutely no plot but has loads of fluff, and it's something I didn't know I needed in my life until I had it. It's one of my favourite BLs ever, and it's definitely going on my comfort shows and re-watch list. It will forever live on in my memory. I definitely keep coming back to this. Very high on my list and my #1 comfort show.
Only Boo. I kinda like it, but I have zero idea where they plan to go with the current storyline. Fluffy and cute, I'll keep watching, but it probably won't end up high on my favourites list. I'm behind on a couple of episodes (I'll catch up before ep. 12, no worries) and I was right. I do like it. It's something new, and I'd like GMM to explore this more, but it's not ending up very high on my favourites list.
Wandee Goodday. My favourite fake boyfriends with benefits! I'm behind a couple episodes with this too (sorry, my brain has been a little too obsessed with We Are T~T) but overall, I really like it. It's P'Golf, so I never had any doubts, but I do worry a little about the angst. It's bearable till now, so fingers crossed. I really like it! College has reopened, so I'm behind on the last two episodes, but I'm hoping I'll be able to complete it by this week. Final update: I've finished Wandee Goodday! All around, it's a very good BL. It dared to explore, and I'm impressed. Top 20 BLs.
My Love Mix Up! Thailand. I'm still skeptical, not gonna lie. But it's GemFourth. And I didn't feel much about the first few eps of MSP either, and look what happened with that. I still don't know how hard the original will clash with Thai BL's specific style, but I'm willing to take the chance. Please don't disappoint me. I like where this is going. They are so cute and lovely, and that high school vibe is evident. All I need now is for ep 11 curse to not happen. (From what happened in MSP, I think there will be some sort of conflict in the last ep, but as long as I don't have to wait one whole week for it to get resolved, I'm okay with it.) It landed a little wobbly, still quite better off than some other gmmtv series this year though *side eyes The Trainee* so I'll give it a solid 7.5 (I mark like every single point costs me though, so a series might be a tiny bit better than I rate it). Could it have been better? Well, yes. Was it enjoyable? Yep.
The Trainee. Well, it's OffGun's usual tsundere seme/innocent uke. Office romance though- that's new. I guess they finally graduated from university 😭😂 I don't feel anything about it right now, but let's see what happens when it starts airing. Rating changed. It's only been four episodes (and I missed today, that is ep 4, because I have college early tomorrow) but I like where this is going. I think it's going to be the typical 5-7 romance ep pattern, but as long as they don't bring back the ep 11 curse, it's all good. Rating changed again. I- I don't know what to say. I've already said everything in this post. They did something worse to this than make it bad; they made it mediocre. I feel like I was watching Tae and Bamhee get their shit together just to stuff all that progress down the drain willingly and got teeny tiny glimpses of JaneRyan in the background. It was downhill from ep 5 or 6 and I was really hoping they would save it last minute, but nope. It hit rock bottom and kept going. It became a bit painful to watch, honestly. I'll leave the rating to y'all.
Peaceful Property. After TayNew outdid themselves in the beautiful soft little thing that was Cherry Magic Thailand (anyone wanna join my Cherry Magic Th propaganda?), I can't wait for this series. Also: if they give me besties, it'll be a hard pill to swallow but I'll be fine, but if they give me bromance, I'll commit homicide. This series is making permanent changes to my brain. ffs, I'll even take bromance that's how much I'm loving it. It's also very sociological, and holds up a not-so-subtle commentary on class difference and oppression so bonus points. For now I'm finding it absolutely *chef's kiss*. Will it finally pull me up from the dump I'm in? Well, I really hope so. It was a mess but I loved it.
Kidnap. I'll be honest, I'd almost completely forgotten about this series until the trailer popped up. I'm quite a few eps behind, but I think, personally, it will probably end up somewhere in my top 25. I'm SO behind on this, I'll update when I catch up T-T
Currently Airing:
The Heart Killers. Pretty sure this is #1 on most of y'alls lists and for good reason too. My reasons? Pretty simple. I love action, mafia and romcom and this is all in one. And also FirstKhao and JoongDunk so- I have no idea what's happening, I'm just here for the ride <3
Pluto the series. A GL? With NamtanFilm? I'm in. Honestly though, I really am liking this and I'd love for GMMTV to land this properly. I love Ai-oon so much. Also, what in the Not Me- 😭
Perfect 10 liners. What put me off in the trailer itself is the clear discrimination based on looks/physical appearances. It also seems like at this point they're just trying to give each pairing some screen time this year but have run out of plots, and are thus shoving pairings into series like it's the metro/tube/subway/whatever you call it in your country during rush hour. Will I like it? We'll see. After New Siwaj gave me the masterpiece that is We Are, and crushed my doubts like mosquitoes, I'm willing to give Perfect 10 Liners a good strong chance. The premise still bothers me a bit, but I'm keeping an open mind. This is giving me We are nostalgia and I'm mostly watching just for the comedy and the PondSand crumbs. The main couple is meh though, I can't wait for ep 9.

tell me what you thought about season 3 of bridgerton. I also had really mixed feelings about the Michaela/Michael thing (like the last person) but overall the season was really okay for me. it felt like the PR was more than we got but otherwise I liked most it. i could have done without the Mondrich storyline and the 8 Benedict sex scenes but it was good.
I agree: The season was generally good. I liked it and have watched it several times now. (That is 90% my Nicola Coughlan obsession speaking, but nonetheless.)
Things that I thought were OUTSTANDING:
Agatha/Violet scenes - I fucking love them. Agatha is my fav character in the whole show, and that friendship is amazing. I am an Agatha, Charlotte, and Penelope girly as my top 3.
That scene outside of Genevieve's ("What good am I to you?") because fuck yes, Penelope. - Put that man in his place. Sometimes your only need for a man is to want him there because you love him.
Colin crying - 'nuff said.
Kanthony - there could have been more, but I understand.
Francesca & John - so relatable. I know you talked about Michaela being contentious, but I am excited for her. Again, I didn't read the books. I just want wlw. I loved John's interactions with the boys.
"You Belong With Me" for their wedding dance??? It's THEIR SONG, and I was so happy about it!
Lord Anderson - I am looking forward to him and Violet "gardening" in s4.
the Featheringtons and their character growth.
Nicola Coughlan's perfect breasts. 🥵😍
Things I DID NOT LIKE/WANTED MORE OF:
Not enough Polin scenes. Just in general there were not enough. Spicy would have been fine, but I am in the same camp as many that say they wanted more happy married life before the baby was born.
Colin accusing Penelope of trapping him and then never apologizing for it.
Colin telling Penelope she "has no say" in how the LW blackmail thing got handled. Like 🛑. You are JUST a man, Colin.
Luke Newton's wig for the wedding specifically (but it made other appearances).
Pen's wedding dress could have been more fairytale (but I do love how it highlighted her complexion, etc.).
Not enough Lord Debling/he didn't go with Cressida. I know she was the pt 2 villain, but like...he will be gone for three years.
Eloise was incredibly annoying without Pen. I didn't realize how Pen changed her and maybe softened her in ways. Her without that person to maybe not tame but guide her really showed that.
Too much Mondrichs. I think it would be cool if their son fell in love with Hyacinth and it was another friends to lovers we got to see evolve over time, but besides the ball and finally giving up the club, I feel like maybe 3 scenes in total would have been fine.
Too many Benedict sex scenes. The last was my fav by far, but for the most part they were fillers and didn't drive the plot. If they did it would have been different.
There's probably more, but that's all I've got.
I do think this is my favorite season yet because of Penelope, but there could have been changes. I hope they drop those deleted scenes, but even if they don't i am pretty satisfied with what we got. 💛

my thoughts on dead boy detectives season 1
- the season should have had more episodes we should’ve had more time for characters to develop connections and do a deeper dive into the intimacies of charles and edwin’s friendship
- the special effects were slay at times the pain wraith and the angler fish very very cool
- hate hate hate the romance between crystal and charles actually the biggest problem I have with the show even more than the occasionally shit dialogue (which at least did get better as the season progressed)
- devastated that we won’t have cat king in season 2 he deserves to be forever hope he comes back somehow which his relationship with edwin was again tied up with a perfect bow but ig they just wanted to end his arc here I just think he’s an interesting enough character that they could’ve kept him and his toying of edwin going longer
- the genre of this show was baffling and sometimes too harsh of a shift between scenes
- very funny tho aces on the comedy front they were funny guys
- niko and edwin were SoulMates they were the definition of mlm and wlw solidarity and they were the most important relationship of all
- really though niko and crystal would be a thing big bummer on that side
- still wished edwin hadn’t already confessed his feelings so quickly I want more secret pining!! the not wanting to say anything in fear of ruining your friendship!! like yes it was a very healthy and endearing scene and I love that at the end of the day they’re still best friends but wish that had gone different
- in a perfect world they would’ve gotten at least 15 episodes to flesh out the world and story at a slower pace and season 1 could be about edwin discovering he’s into boys while season 2 can then be about his Specific boy things just felt too rushed at times (and I know part of that is the limitations placed on the showrunners very limited episodes and you have to conclude your season satisfyingly enough due to the high possibility that you don’t get another season so I Get making the ending like that and having all these boxes checked off so if there is a season 2 you can make new boxes to check but some boxes need to be left unchecked!!! at least for a bit everything just felt too perfectly tied up with a bow I would’ve liked to see less of a resolution in regards to the afterlife catching them don’t love that after 30 years they only now get the Perfect solution to their existence)
- want more magic from edwin!!! let him be cool and powerful and scary!!!
- overall though I did have a very good time and all the aspects I didnt like make sense in a way I just don’t like em
- still thinking about those clowns in the first episode what the fuck was that about

just want to compose my general thoughts about agatha all along in one place, mostly for myself
I love that the show actually leaned into the maintext queer storylines for both Agatha and Billy. It’s something that still doesn’t happen often in mainstream media, especially something Marvel/Disney. The fact that it wasn’t just subtext, we had both mlm and wlw kisses, and the relationships being fully entwined in the story making them harder to cut out while keeping the story making sense. I feel like marvel has had so many “first queer character in the mcu” moments that were like a one off line but this is the first one that actually feels significant (besides the runaways but iirc that’s technically not mcu?) anyway, fantastic queer rep, it genuinely surprised and pleased me at every turn
The most interesting part of the show was the characters and their relationships. Not just Agatha/Rio and Agatha & Billy, but the whole coven. Alice and Billy, Jen and Lilia, etc. The characters were fascinating and each of their stories were wonderful. I think I wish we had a little more on Jen, and maybe Alice as well. I suppose if I’m comparing their character arcs to Lilia’s I’ll obviously be disappointed, but they just didn’t feel quite as fleshed out. Even Mrs Davis honestly deserved more. She was kind of just a joke for the first few episodes (and beyond that). I wish we got more on Rio as well but I’m less disappointed about that because I think she’s meant to be sort of an enigma.
Because the most interesting part of the show was the characters and relationships, I found a lot of the last two episodes a bit rushed, anticlimactic and underwhelming. I get that it’s a marvel show but most of it didn’t feel like a marvel show. It was the parts that got into the lore and the spectacle that took me out of the story that i’m watching for. The story was still good! But it just didn’t feel as good as it could have been because they needed that marvel ending. I think it was as soon as billy came out in his costume that i just let out a sigh and was like, “right. This is a marvel show.” But moments that i thought would hit hard like the agatha/rio kiss and the Nicky reveal felt a little flat because I had already been pulled out of the story by the marvel spectacle. I had more of a reaction to the almost kiss in episode 4 than the actual kiss 😂
Overall i really enjoyed it. And i’m sure all the marvel fangirls are happy with it. as an average viewer who doesn’t know much lore and lost a lot of hope for Young Avengers when I saw what they did to my girl America Chavez, I wasn’t watching it for the marvel lore, I was watching for the story and characters. I think they met a pretty good balance of things for the marvel fanboys and things for the average viewer. I just think the place where Marvel excels is when they do something different that doesn’t feel like traditional Marvel. It’s why Wandavision was so good, it’s why Ms. Marvel was so good, and it’s why Agatha All Along was so good. I do think these miniseries are a great way to explore that because they can try things that wouldn’t work in a major motion picture and tell more diverse and unique stories. I hope they keep this up

just finished ‘kevin can f**k himself’
well i finished it a few days ago but i had to really let it marinate in my head.
overall, 7/10. i would recommend it if you like drama series or whatever. honestly idk what to compare it to because i think the show is very unique in the directing style but if anybody knows a show or movie similar to it then please let me know and hopefully i’ll be able to check it out.
more detailed review + spoilers below
okay so first impressions i really did not expect the rest of the show to go the way that it did but it was very interesting, although i will say the ending seemed rushed but im assuming that was due to the network and not necessarily the shows team.
i had a love hate relationship with allison. and by that i mean every time i started to like her she did something to make me hate her again😭 definitely i tried to be sympathetic of her situation and how it may make her act but she was still annoying at times and definitely if it weren’t for patty she would have gotten herself into a lot of trouble.
also i want to make sure i mention the directing style (if that’s what it’s called). the transitions from sitcom to drama were so great and honestly chilling. and it’s so fitting for how real life is. obviously not exactly but we all know at least one person where it’s like whenever they’re around they become the main character of some strange sitcom that’s all about them and the problems they make and how everyone else has to clean up behind them and their mistakes. if you don’t know anybody like this then i envy you because these people are draining 😭
but back to the actual contents of the show, patty definitely was my favorite character even from the very beginning. i also began to like neil in the latter half of the second season, where he finally began to realize kevin is not a true friend and wouldn’t care if he lives or dies. i think if the writers/producers had even just a little more time then they could have fleshed out that plot line even more, especially throwing peter into it as well and showing how everyone was slowly distancing themselves from kevin rather than just walking out and ghosting him, as we saw through allison’s struggles it’s not that easy whether you are a spouse, family, friend, partner, whatever.
i liked tammy and i liked her relationship with patty, trust i’ll almost always like a wlw relationship (as long as it’s not immoral in any way). however she was the same as allison in my eyes, where i have that love hate relationship with her. i appreciated that she cared for patty and made patty feel heard but i felt like tammy overstepped her boundaries way too often, just showing up and trying to push patty out of her comfort zone all the time. it’s healthy to encourage people to face their fears and whatnot but i think she just came off as pushy or possessive at times, especially when it came to allison. i understand she viewed allison as a bad influence but i don’t get why she felt so entitled to ‘protect’ patty. patty is a grown woman who has known allison for 15 years, so it was just crazy to me that tammy felt like she could come in and tell allison to stay away from patty as if she would understand their dynamic at all. and yes ik that patty and allison weren’t friends those 15 years but im still just trying to make the point that tammy was the outsider (and a fucking cop so did she really expect patty and allison to tell her every single thing all the time) so she really had no place acting that way in my opinion. she was also very rude with the whole “i don’t like you you’re not my friend” attitude. like no need to lie and sugarcoat it but you can at least fake it till you make it.
anyways enough about that i just felt a bit strongly about that point, mainly bc wlw representation is so hard to come by so i just get a bit upset when it doesn’t work well.
honestly idk why but i expected patty and allison to get together. i’m glad they didn’t though, i think they work better as friends. but also i couldn’t really understand allison’s motives at times. sometimes it felt like she was being purely selfish and treating everything like a transaction (not just with patty but with sam, diane, neil, and even kevin at times) but other times it seemed like she genuinely cared and wanted to help (mostly with patty but a little with diane and sam too). it was easy to tell that patty was genuine with allison and actually cared for her but i just could never tell if it was reciprocated so if anybody wants to give their two cents on that i’m all ears.
i wont even get into sam because i’ll get mad. all i’ll really say is i did not like his dynamic with allison at all. this is again where i could never tell if she was just selfish or actually cared about him (but with him im leaning more towards just being selfish). especially when he brought up that everything that they do it’s because she wants to. so yknow it’s whatever but i didn’t like it and this relationship contributed a lot to my dislike of allison as a main character.
i wont really get into pete or kevin either. pete is pretty one dimensional the whole time (in my opinion). and kevin was very one dimensional until we are able to see more into his destructive and manipulative side in season two, but even then there’s not much to work with until the very end (but like i said the ending needed more work so im trying not to touch on the subject too much).
i liked diane. i was confused at first bc i didn’t know that she was allison’s aunt so their relationship confused me. in the second season i definitely felt for her. the whole thing with neil caught me off guard but i guess they were both hurting or whatever. she was a fine character, not too remarkable but i didn’t hate her.
so overall, my main criticism would be the characters need work. not that they are ‘bad’ or poorly written or anything, i just don’t see any of them as necessarily relatable or likable except for patty (but that’s my opinion and you may have a different one!). and ofc i know that not every story needs to have relatable and likable characters but i think that it helps you hook and maintain an audience.
but i think that that issue definitely is squashed by the great story and direction. idk the circumstances of the show, if it was always meant to be two seasons or if they got cut short idk. if they made a third season i honestly don’t know what else they could have had happen so while i think the ending could have been fleshed out more, i don’t think there was a need for another 8 episodes. THAT BEING SAID, i did love what we were given. as mentioned earlier i loved the contrast between sitcom and drama where not only did the show change cinematically but also the characters in the scene changed the way they acted depending on if kevin was present and i think that that was super interesting and a very unique concept that i personally have never seen before. the plot line could use a couple tweaks here and there but i am no show runner or script writer so please take that sentiment with a grain of salt.
okay, this review is long enough. bye now drink water be safe and ladies carry pepper spray and maybe learn a self defense move or two 🫡

Feel like I need to give Steven universe another chance, I feel like I was too harsh on it for many years.
I'll be honest, I never really got into Steven universe, during the time it started airing, I was growing into my "all modern cartoons are dumb" phase due to me beginning to leech of other people's opinions on the internet and thinking what they said was right. Along with me having a very skewed perception of queer people due to being exposed to a lot of really edgy memes as a teenager, although I would be there would be some instances where I've given some shows a chance like star vs., the loud house, and some others that I'm probably not thinking about although I do know that I fell out of watching modern cartoons again out fear of being judged.
that phase of my life would finally go away when I hit my early 20's and overtime I would begin re watching many cartoons I haven't seen in years, from classic cartoons from the 1930's to 1940's and even watching one show in particular that I never saw, that being the 2018 She Ra reboot, A year before watching she ra I began learning a lot and becoming more aware about various issues that queer and other marginalized groups of people were facing and learned to take them much more seriously, I was also trying to heal from a lot of bad personal experiences that I would prefer to not speak about here. watching She Ra was a massive part of my egg cracking phase, it was one of those things that made me realize that I was very fascinated with lesbian/wlw relationships, quite literally cheering for catra and adora to kiss in the lips, which is another thing I did when I first saw princess bubblegum and marceline kiss in the series finale for adventure time back when it came out. The show would inspire me to have a lesbian relationship between two of my original characters, Melanie and Grizzly, something that has stuck to this day.
While writing those two characters, I had a bit of a panic in terms of what my true gender identity was, especially because I began to realize I felt a similar way about myself in a similar way that Grizzly felt about her self, for context, Grizzly is a trans woman, so I ended up spending a couple of months trying to unpack my own identity and trying plenty of labels and rethinking my entire sense of fashion. Thus leading me figure out who I truly am, a non binary trans woman and also a pan lesbian. Which was around 2 years ago. and even with in the span of those two years and even this year, I have changed so much as a person, I've gotten back into so many things that I have suppressed for so many years (examples: Minions and ugly dolls, specifically the original toy line, not the movie) thanks to the encouragement of my own partner who I have happily been in a T4T relationship in for the past year, and within the span of that year, I feel like I've grown so much more rapidly and healed from my past experiences much better since we both fell in love. (also dear if you're reading this I love you so much and I'm going to love you for the rest of my life, you are the best human being I've ever met)
Now you must be wondering what the hell this has to do with Steven universe, basically, what I am trying to say is that with the immense amount of personal growth I've gone through, and how much I've become more comfortable with liking things I was a afraid to for so many years, I feel like Steven universe would be symbolic of that growth I've gone through in a way, that and of course I want to give the show another chance in general, now of course, I am aware that it is far from perfect, but it is something that I've grown to respect for how much it paved to way for LGBT+ representation in animation and just having an overall impact on cartoons that we are still seeing today. That show is basically has the same level of impact that shows like Adventure Time, G4 My Little Pony, and Gravity Falls for how influential it is to the current landscape of cartoons and the community that we see today. Also from what little songs that I've heard from the show, they are really good, especially stronger than you, not only that song is really good, but also it just brings me back to my undertale phase when that game was at the peak of it's popularity.
Okay, I feel like I've said everything I've had to say about steven universe, I not really sure how much the show is going to fully pull me into it, but I still think it's worth a try. Although I do have one more question to ask to those that see this post, has anyone else gone through a similar phase of hating steven universe like I did?

God I just love how fucking real they are. The way they’re written. They have their fights, their conflicts, their toxic moments just like any real life WLW couple would and yet all of that only shows the depth of their love rather than pulls them down and turns me off.
I swear that draws me to them more than the actual love displayed between them because the way they handle the rocky moments in their relationship is just bloody brilliant. It’s so natural the way that they come undone and then come back together again. I don’t know, I can’t really articulate well what I mean by this.
But it’s something you can watch and pick up on for yourself. The realness of them. I haven’t seen anything like it since Xena and Gabrielle to be honest, who have - arguably - the rockiest moments in their love story that is possible to have and depict in TV art/entertainment without a ratings change, and yet - it makes them better. It makes their love story far more significant because you see what they go through and what they have to overcome and the tremendous strength and effort to do so because they love each other so damn much and don’t want to lose that love.
Yeah, WayHaught are exactly like that. There may not be a “Gab Drag” equivalent scene between them but what is displayed is very reminiscent of “the rift” arc that puts Xena and Gabrielle through the ringer,… because it doesn’t destroy them completely. It only ever makes them stronger and even more in love. Which is what you want from drama and conflict.
Well-written fleshed out queer main characters provide this rollercoaster ride of representation. And - for me - WLW couples in TV art/entertainment just don’t feel real without all the drama and conflict.
But there obviously needs to be a balance. You don’t want it to be soap opera level of drama and conflict where everything that happens happens BECAUSE there NEEDS to be drama and conflict because it’s shock value and cheap viewership. But rather - you need to show how BECAUSE of all the drama and conflict, the relationship is much more real and strong and substantial than a spectacle to gawp and gasp at.
And yeah, they do WayHaught very fucking well when it comes to this. They’re in a Universe where everything is meant to be high stakes all the time so the drama and conflict between them doesn’t come out of left field. It’s organic and logical progression.
They’re really well fucking written I have to say. And it makes me all the more invested in their relationship because I love fantasy as a genre in the overall concept and environment of a TV show but I never want fantasy in a couple. I always want the real shit.
And WayHaught are the real shit. Absolutely!
It’s what I love about Xena and Gabrielle so much. That they’re a REAL couple in a FANTASY show.
Can we have more WLW ships like this please? 🙏
