Saltbox: A Little Women Inspired Build
Tumblr media
Download and details under the cut!
40x40 · Fully Furnished · CC Heavy, Included
The Saltbox style home is a New England staple. Built during the colonial period of American history, these homes were simple and functional.
One of the most famous colonial era homes is Orchard House, where Little Women author Louisa May Alcott lived with her parents and sisters, and was almost a character in the novel itself. To bring your cozy autumn to a close this year, I wanted to create a house inspired by the Alcott home, in all its eclectic warmth. Like Orchard House, this build is early colonial in architecture but mid-19th century in furnishing and decor. Where possible, I’ve tried to keep the appliances and plumbing off-the-grid, as a nod to the time period. It has a kitchen, dining, formal parlor, sitting room, mud room, three bedrooms, and a flexible attic space to stage all your childhood plays. This build is very CC heavy, but I have included a sortable CC list and folders this time which should allow you to only keep the Build CC and eliminate the Buy if you’d rather furnish it yourself CC-free.

did you know lily orchard is still delivering the worst takes ever known to man in animation
EDIT: her opinions got worse if you're just tuning in. she updated her review of the show and rated it worse, made an autism representation power level scale, and also went on a huge rant about laios.
she also headcanons ashley from the coffin of andy and leyley as autistic which blew me away because i've not seen that headcanoned by even a single other person

Lily saying that Luz is a bad girlfriend during her depression arc and that Amity should've broken up with her for lying to her three times is appaling
Ignoring the obvious fact that the reason why Luz kept the third secret, being that she helped a dictator and was scared about how Amity would react when finding out does not make her a bad girlfriend in the slightest, Luz lies to Amity a total of two times before this.
And Amity knows that whenever Luz is lying to her or keeping a secret, it's because she's going through something very personal, and she confronts Luz on these things. Hell in reaching out Amity actually gets mad at Luz for lying to her, and when Luz does tell her what was going on Amity seems to instantly forgive her...cuz why wouldn't she? She understands what Luz is going through and shows clear support and empathy for her girlfriend. She knows that, when Luz lies, it's because there's something personal she's wrestling with.
And it simply flat out makes no sense for Amity to break up with Luz in TTT, both her established character and just. From a compeltely logical stand point. Luz makes it clear that the reason why she lied is because she thought that Amity and the rest of her friends would hate her if they knew the truth, and considering that Luz, ya know, helped a dictator, it's not particularly unreasonable for her to think that. Anybody with two braincells can see that Amity would understand why Luz lied, she, and I repeat, helped a dictator and thought she woild be hated for it, she's not a bad girlfriend for this and Amity would NEVER break up with her for this.
But Lily just ignores that and says that Amity should just get a new girlfriend, even though Luz has been nothing but loving and supporting towards Amity throughout the series and helped Amity grow and become a better person than she was before. She ignores outside context and frames Luz as a bad girlfriend when she's not.

Lily Orchard's Double Standards in Regards to Hunter
So one of Lily's critiques of Hunter is that it takes him "too long" to break from Belos' control (four episodes into his arc to be exact...which is not even that long. Like, at all). Ignoring how little water this critique holds by itself, time to bring up...
Tumblr media
Zuko. I have not seen Avatar the Last Airbender (I probably should lmao) but from what I've heard Zuko and Hunter have many similarities to each other, with a few major differences setting them apart. And Lily is known to like Zuko quite a bit...
...so...when does Zuko break from Ozai? Why, (from I've been told) it's mid-season 3...
...So Hunter takes four episodes to break from Belos in a single season and Lily complains about it being "too long", but when it takes Zuko almost the entire series to do the same for Ozai, she doesn't complain...
...that's...interesting...Oh, but I'm not done yet with the Zuko comparisons. In Lily's white favoritism video, Lily gets on Hunter's ass for kidnapping and almost forced a bunch of teenagers into the EC (conveniently ignoring the fact that he realized his mistake and fixed it two minutes later).
...even though Zuko did FAR WORSE than Hunter, yet NEVER gets of his ass for that. Oh, and apparently, to Lily, Zuko was never a villain and was "just an abuse victim escaping an abusive situation", yet she never applies this same logic to Hunter for SOME REASON despite their many similarities???
Tumblr media
Then there's Amity, a character in the same show as Hunter who also has some similarities to him, being a deliberate parallel to him. Bringing up Lily's complaint about Hunter taking "too long" to break from Belos, she, like with Zuko, doesn't apply the same critique to Amity for some reason...? Like, if you're going to complain about Hunter not breaking from Belos fast enough, why don't you complain about Amity not standing up to her mother quicker?
Hell, why don't you apply this to ANY character with and abusive parent?
....Oh, I know the reason why, actually; Hunter is an "angsty white boy", while Amity is a white girl and Zuko is Asian. The reason why Lily doesn't complain about these things for Amity and Zuko but she does for Hunter is because of his gender and skin color/ethnicity respectively. She's directly holding a double standard that she doesn't hold due to them not being "angsty white boys".
I've said it before, but Lily's critiques of Hunter are entirely biased around him being an “edgy white boy” and double standards like these clearly show that.

Since Gravity Falls is topical again, casual reminder that Lily hates fun, the idea of people having fun, and was also hilariously wrong about GF’s and TOH’s universal connections.
Also look, casual Lily fan being biphobic. Lovely. /s

Me whenever hacks like Lily Orchard go after Steven Universe, She-Ra, The Owl House, The Legend Of Korra, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Moon Girl, Star Wars, Dungeon Meshi, ect.
Tumblr media
(P.S: I am a massive fan of the media mentioned above) (P.S: Yes. I will fight to the end defending Steven Universe, She-Ra, The Owl House, Utena, Evangelion, Sailor Moon and The Last Jedi.)

Y'all remember that comic Mikaila drew for Lily where her badass self-insert oc murdered Steven and it was supposed to be a cool moment?
She did that shit again with Hunter.
Tumblr media
The guy on the left being choked out by the woman. He's named "Golden Boy", pretty fucking similar to golden guard, same hair color and yellow color palette.
Now, who does this
Tumblr media
Remind you of? Hmm...
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, Lily herself. (the brownfaced puppet, of course.)
Pretty on the nose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hating a character this much should be consodered parasocial. Lily's vendetta against Hunter becomes very clear here.
And that's not the worst of it.
Tumblr media
Ah yes, humiliating the (underaged!) character you despise by imagining them as a selfish sexual partner who doesn't have stamina in bed.
That's totally normal and healthy.
Lily knew she couldn't get away with comissioning another piece where her oc beat up and humiliated a character because people were taking note and Hunter is a. a minor, and b. a victim of physical and emotional abuse.
So she did the next best thing.

The Forgotten Gays of Western Animation... apparently.
youtube
Tw Lily says the F-slur despite her having a problem with Q-slur and talks about incest... again.
Now I'm not from Canada, nor was I old enough to have seen these shows that she's talking about, meaning I have no choice but to assume she's telling the truth about these shows.
To get this out of the way. Lily, throughout the whole video, was also making jabs at people who like lore based shows how they're the ones who are ruining shows because she thinks people on Twitter have any power over what a creator does on the show I mean if that was the case then JK Rowling would actually shut up about her transphobic thoughts. To put it simply, people on Twitter with their egos don't have much or any power over a show their not a part of, not even the people who are in charge of drawing the frames. now a creator can see multiple people asking about the lore of the world they worked so hard on. Lore might not be important to Lily, but anyone who's worked on making a completely new world wants to talk about and show the lore of the world. To get a bit personal, one of my siblings is writing a book, and there are days they will talk about the lore for hours because they're proud of it.
Now. Lily is very much wrong about moving the goal post for LGBTQ rep. Moving the goal post for LGBTQ characters means we are highering our expectations for what's good rep and what's not. To keep that post in the same place would be doing more damage than good.
Personally, I think (if we have to) the goal post should stick where the owl house is as that's one of the few shows that doesn't really have straight ships, hunter x willow and amity's parents are the only straight cannon relationships (and that's straight in quotes BTW) and I only think that because I haven't seen any of the nickelodeon shows with LGBTQ rep.
Something lily really needs to understand is that CEOs and the men in suits have a huge say in what goes into shows, so most shows aimed at children that want LGBTQ rep have to fight to have it Steven universe and the owl house all had to fight to get the rep they wanted. The reason you didn't see much of ruby and sapphire is because they are always fused together in perfect harmony. Every permafustion in SU were in a healthy relationship and only unfused was when they need to play the part their made for or fighting she also needs to remember that SU had the FIRST same-sex wedding in a kid show. The owl house was already set to be canceled, so who cares if they have a main gay couple it's not like they were gonna see them for long anyway. To me, it seems that if the character isn't kissing, holding hands, or cuddling, then that's not good enough that the LGBTQ rep has to be the most perfect relationship and never show what a real relationship can be like i.e. sometimes unhealthy, one-sided, and unrequited.
Lily then goes through a really long rant about how we shouldn’t hold She-ra to such a high platform because of the incest and how abusive the relationship was... completely forgetting that catra was the scapegoat while adora was the golden child. Both were in an abusive relationship with their perennial figures, with catra getting the brunt of it. Catra and adora are friends to enemies to lovers. Just because you wrote your incest story (scars, pokemadhouse) as some sort of coffee shop, AU, you think that you have any footing about complaining about catradora? Lily can't talk smack about adora and catra being technical sister when all of her fanfiction and even the books she reads aren't technical incest. It is incest. For all the mud slinging Lily does to She-ra, TLOK, and SU, you'd think the creators killed her family.
Also, I haven't heard of anyone saying that those slice of life relaxing shows that have the same rep as "not counting." In fact, people who like those types of shows have praised and really liked it, there's no one saying that shows with rep aren't valid just because there slow pace I've seen that's not valid because it's not good enough rep as in the LGBTQ character dies, doesn't get into a relationship, never get screen time, or how in Steven universe pearls love with rose is one sided and therefore pearl is an incel and "doesn’t count" funny enough all the complaints about rep not being good enough is from Lily herself. Steven universe doesn't count because you don't see enough, TLOK doesn't count because korra and asami didn't kiss as they walked into the spirit world, she-ra doesn't count because catradora is "fetishist towards abuse" and the list goes on.
Despite how much Lily praises Brace face for having a good gay character that wasn't the butt of the joke, he's still a stereotype, 6teen had one episode with a gay character and is never seen again, Lloyd in space had one Non binary character that in the end chose their gender and the main characters forcing gender norms on them. All of those in Lily's own words and past videos those shows aren't good enough.
No one has forgotten about the Canadian shows with LGBTQ characters their just not talked about, which is a shame. If I had seen these shows when I was struggling with my identity, it might have helped me deal with it better. As time goes on and millennials who grew up with the shows that said "its okay to be different and that just because you have no one now doesn't mean you will be alone forever." Begin to make their art. What was good then just isn't good now. Sure, those shows were ahead of their time, but now we are getting shows with better rep that don't need to use slurs or stereotypes.

My only problem with Hunter is that I related to him too much lmao. Like he’s the only character I’ve ever actually felt upset about having a canon sexuality cuz it’s different than mine and I had to “come to terms with it”
That sounds super silly and super fandom brained to say, like it’s none of my business, but I think it shows how deeply he resonates with some people. Like this is an anecdote and I’m sure some people think I’m exaggerating or I’m one of those people who take shows way too seriously, but no it was just because he was so much like me that it felt “out of character” and “forced” to me, and probably only me, when he ended up with Willow
Fr. I don't relate to finding his relationship out of character, but to an extent I resonate with him so much that I don't really like when people chalk up his character to "basic white boy who got too much screentime" because that's simply not the case. He has a lot a lot of love put into his character like every other character in TOH and I don't really see anyone shitting on Amity for being a "white girl with too much screentime" despite the fact that her arc was somewhat comparable to Hunter's. Is it because she's a lesbian? I love Amity as much as the next person, but people have such bad takes that they can't even stay consistent with.

So, I wanted to address some of Lily's opinions in one of her videos. I know the video in the link is a year old, but I choose it for a few reasons. First, if anyone wants to claim that I just don't like her for criticizing "my show," then The Owl House is the show to do that with. Secondly, this video is about Hunter, a character I started a bit lukewarm on, myself. And lastly, the actual relevant part of the video is mercifully short. I've provided a link to the video, but I'm not going to use time stamps, since it's, again, short.
Lily's Video on Character Potential
So, after her introduction and blaming fan's reactions to character potential on theory videos (without providing evidence that is something that is happening with Hunter,) she gives us her own theory. Which is that people like Hunter for what his character could be, not what his character actually is. Then she says she doesn't like him because he has no purpose in the story.
Okay, that's an opinion. I disagree, but it is stated as more of an opinion than in later videos. She also takes the time to let us know through onscreen text that he is rendered in "every color of the urine spectrum." Lily, we know you hate white blond dudes, no need to diss the color yellow like that.
Culling through the nonsense, her basic premise is that Hunter doesn't do anything in the story and is merely stapled onto other characters. I could point out all the times he does effect the story, but let's just argue the "stapled" thing. Because I think I have a good counter for that, as him being paired with the other characters is where I started to like him and understand him as a character.
Hunter isn't stapled to other characters. Hunter is a mirror into other characters. He has Luz's interest in wild magic and inability to cast spells like other witches. He has been called a half-witch like Willow and shares her insecurity about not being as skilled as others. He is a prodigy like Gus and has the same pressures and anxiety. And he shares the same kind of abusive upbringing as Amity.
Lily claims that everyone gets overshadowed by Hunter in their shared episodes, save Amity. This happens, she says, because of white favoritism; something she has accused the show of doing before. Even if I don't feel he overshadowed anyone in any of the episodes he shares, I can offer a much better explanation for why Amity stands out more in Eclipse Lake.
It's her episode. She's the hero we are following this go around. Kiki and co are obstacles, the titan blood is the MacGuffin, and Eda and King are the sidekicks/comic relief. Lastly, Hunter is there to be Amity's foil; because the episode deals specifically with traits they have in common. They both come from a background where affection is a reward for success. The both feel that if they fail, they will be disappointing someone who thinks they are special.
Make no mistake, without the interference of Luz and the others, Amity would be this kid in two years.
She further says that she likes Hunter better when people other than Dana Terrace write for him. Hunter does seem to be Dana's favorite, or at least one of her favorites. We know he was one of the shows original characters when it was conceived and one Dana has said is a lot of fun for her to write. Still, I don't think the difference is because he's a creator's pet.
I think the episodes Lily is talking about are the ones when he's acting more like the Golden Guard. That the whole Golden Guard thing is a mask for his insecurities is something the show takes the time to point out to us. Look at Thanks to Them, for an example. He gets scared about going into the abandoned house to look for Belos and says that didn't happen when he was the Golden Guard. Luz gives him a Halloween mask they find and he bursts through the door with the same bravado and, indeed, the same line as he when he first confronts Luz. He doesn't take the mask off, either, until Luz calls him family and he breaks down.
The Golden Guard is not, and was never, who this kid is. This was who he had to be to survive his indoctrination. This is why, Lily, it doesn't matter if he had a "destiny" to betray Belos and why it is telling that he still couldn't leave until he committed treason. Did you not watch the episode with him and Gus? You show clips from it and it's one of the episodes you complain about. He was still having trouble convincing himself he did the right thing by leaving. That's how brain washing works.
The rest of the video is her rambling about other things. There is actually a whole section on Sylvanis and then one on Luz's arc later in the series that I won't go into here. Lily, if you really, really don't understand what a negative character arc is, I can go into it for you.

Sooooo I was watching @agramuglia's latest Lily Orchard video focusing on her writting tips and...
Tumblr media
.....ya, I don't really think I need to give much of an introduction to my point. This is literally just another piece of evidince for Lily only hating Hunter cuz he doesn't fit her personal biases and preferences, and it looks like something Lily has always had. But I also want to talk about another thing.
Lily constantly says that Hunter "overshadows" every other character in the show, but he litteraly only gets 5 episodes focusing on his arc which is not only less than a third of the season, but isn't even that much compared to other characters.
And, even then, in four of those five episodes Hunter is paired up with another character that gets equal amounts of screen time and focus as he does (Hunting Palisman, Eclipse Lake, Hollow Mind, and Labrynth Runners), and two of those are, ya know, POC characters. ASIAS is the exception because while yes Willow gets screentime in this episode, the whole thing is centered around Hunter and his arc.
But despite Hunter getting equal amounts of screentime to the characters' he is paired up with in the other episodes, Lily still claims that he "overshadows" them. It seems that to Lily, the mere presence of a white character alongside a POC one instantly means that the white character overshadows that POC one, which isn't really true. The writer's didn't sideline the other characters in favor of Hunter nearly as much as Lily claims they did.
I know these writting tips came out in 2020 (before Hunter was introduced in the show) but seeing this I still felt like I should make a post about this.
