Here’s what should go in your kid’s sports bags
If your child participates in the best summer camps near me for sports, you should support them by transporting them to their camp, practices, and games with dedication and by showing up in person at their games to support them and show enthusiasm. But there's something else you could have to deal with: organizing their sports bag. Even while you would think it's easy, some kids need help from parents since they're just too young to know what to pack, and others lack the discipline to do it on their own. If your kiddos need that kind of help, the following items should be in every sports bag.
Several sports, particularly those like football or soccer, result in getting muddy. But just because your kids become messy during practice doesn't mean they have to stay that way afterward. Now is the time when you come into the picture. Although it might first seem challenging, most parents are able to anticipate their children's needs when it comes to their sporting attire. Consider how dirty they will become by comprehending the camp activities. Then when you've done that, put enough clean pairs of socks, T-shirts/tops, and shorts in their sports bag to keep them clean on the way home from the affordable summer camp. When they arrive home, they can take a shower and put on whatever they want. Healthy snacks are crucial for your kids' post-workout nutrition and may even help them reach new performance heights. If kids enjoy junk food, you should come up with a few alternatives that focus on healthy nutrients like berries, oats, greens, and honey rather than foods that are packed with unhealthy ingredients that contribute to weight gain. These snacks are a great approach for kids to aid in their recuperation following a demanding training session.
Your children will want enough water to recover and return to normal after practice, regardless of the sport they play. If you're the one bringing your kiddos to the top summer camps, bring a big bottle of water. Unlike summer art programs for high school students, these camps exhaust kids and this is advantageous if your kids are physically and psychologically exhausted; drinking water and snoozing in your car will expedite their recuperation.

Hey! Hey, would you like to be a park ranger?
Tumblr media
USA Jobs just posted a bunch of national park ranger positions for summer 2024--everything from small historic sites to the big flagship parks like Yellowstone and Yosemite. These are seasonal positions specifically for interpretive rangers, which means you begin around May-ish and end around September-October-ish. Interpretation is the branch of the NPS that does educational programming and frontline visitor services, like working in the visitor centers, leading guided walks and talks, and just generally interacting with the public in a friendly, helpful way.
If you have a four-year college degree in just about any subject (honestly, I've worked with people with degrees ranging from theater to business to geoscience), or 12 months' relevant work experience (customer service, retail, education, camp counseling, etc), or a combination of the two, you're eligible to apply. All you need is a resume and transcripts if you're using education to qualify.
Just go to USAJobs.gov and search for "park ranger interpretation" in the search bar. The key things you're looking for in the results are listings from the National Park Service, the code GS 5 (which is the entry level for this position), and the phrase Not to Exceed 1039 hours (which indicates it's a seasonal position).
Some tips!
>Each application requires you to answer a questionnaire about your experience with things like customer service, preparing educational programs, researching scientific topics, etc. Be generous with yourself on these, because other folks will be. Even if you don't think you're an "expert" in something, consider your past work creatively. Have you presented research projects in class? Have you worked retail? Can you keep up a professional demeanor when somebody's upset? You have the qualifications. Rate yourself as such.
>Be thorough and specific in your resume. The NPS isn't a one-pager resume organization. They need to see evidence that you have the qualifications you say you do. The best way to ensure this is to copy, word for word, the phrases in the above questionnaire and insert them in the relevant places in your resume. So if the questionnaire says "Can you research, prepare, and present scientific information to a lay public," go to the appropriate place in your resume and write "I researched, prepared, and presented scientific information to my peers" or something similar. I kid you not, my current resume is ten pages long.
>Cover letters are optional but helpful! There are lots of templates online to help you write one; be sure to be professional. Mine is around 250 words and has three short paragraphs:
1- Position I'm applying for
2- Quick summary of most relevant work/education experience
3- Additional skills/rizz that makes me stand out (for me it's writing/illustrating, which helps me create visitor programs)
>Two things the NPS loves that will boost you are foreign language skills and being a US military veteran. Highlight these elements if you have them.
>Are you a schoolteacher? Check out the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program.
>The big flashy parks are posted as standalone listings, but most of the others are bundled into "Multiple Locations" that are based on region. Consider applying for many of these smaller monuments and historic sites---they get far fewer applicants and are easier to secure. And many are absolutely beautiful. Want to work at Arches? Also apply to Natural Bridges. Want to work in Yellowstone? Also try Lassen Volcanic. Prefer history over science? You have dozens of amazing options from every facet of American history.
>Apply today! Apply now! Many of these parks cap their applicants because they get so many, and the rest will close after a week or so. A glance at the ones that were posted today and yesterday show them either closing on October 15 or 22. Some regions haven't posted yet, so keep checking the website in the next few weeks.
I love my work as a park ranger---it's such a rewarding way to spend a summer (or two, or ten), and it can open doors to other things. You won't get rich, but you will make great friends and great memories, add a killer section to your resume, and spend four months immersed with smart, passionate people in some of the coolest places in the US.
Plus you get a SICK HAT

Castle Audio's HighSchool HC's
(Poll Winner!!!!)
Highschool Claire was definitely the hot jock that everyone wanted but no one could get. She would spend a lot of her time studying or she was at lacrosse/hockey practice so outside of those and pack activities there wasn't much seeing her. Because of her dedication she became captain of both teams her senior year.
Highschool Beth was an absolute party animal of a jock. Her grades were ok but she only put in what was required for her to pass by. When she wasn't also at lacrosse practice she could be found either at some house party or in the theater costume department. To most people's surprise she only had one short relationship (despite her being a known flirt) that was broken off shortly after her mom died.
Highschool Knight was awful at school and only passed thanks to Evie's genorouse tutoring. They ran track and took a break during the winter. They tried their best to stay under the radar especially after Claire and Beth graduated. But no matter how much they kept to themselves they were still always found sitting off to the side during Evie's cheer practices waiting for her to finish
Highschool Seer was the type of person who was never at class but still somehow managed to get straight A's. Because of frequent migraines and other magic related issues they were regularly absent. When they were present however you would commonly find them in the schools art classrooms sketching and painting, they were commonly described by their teachers as an "Artistic Visionary"
Highschool Ranger was apart of a lot of clubs especially ones that involved a lot of fundraising. Not only were they in student government, but they were also in the school nature appreciation club and on the yearbook committee. They loved organizing bake sales and would spend their summers at a local summer camp alongside their friend Isaiah.
Highschool Evie was not only a cheerleader but also participated heavily in her high schools tutoring program. She was a little shy as a freshman which earned her some unwanted attention but was surprised when one day the bullying just stopped. It almost seemed like the bullies were afraid of her for some reason. She never did find out why but Knight also seemed to redirect the conversation if it was ever brought up.
Highschool Rose was always very quiet and well read. She tended to keep to herself and always had her nose in some kind of literature. She was a "pleasure to have in class" according to her teachers and fell in love with english and writing based courses. When she wasn't at school she spent a lot of her time working or studying.
Highschool Abigail was the type of student that was taken to a seperate room to take tests because she had a difficult time focusing but she had great grades and loved to learn. She did morning announcements for her school and tried to establish a cryptid club (but it never became official). She didn't have many in school friends and was unfortunately picked on throughout most of highschool but in her senior year she found a great online community and started her podcast.
Highschool Bud was an average student but they were the type of person to be "friends" with everyone. They didn't have any close friends but they always had a place to sit at lunch and people to talk to just no one to really know them beyond basic friendship. They did also have a great relationship with their english teacher and would often spend their lunch or free period's in said teacher's classroom
Highschool Chloe was the kind popular girl that everyone wanted to be friends with who also had great grades. She was on her schools swim and debate teams and always ready to help when one of her friends needed someone. She graduated salutatorian and is still to this day a little peeved about coming in second
Highschool Dewdrop was an incredible swimmer on their schools team but they unfortunately had to drop the sport their senior year due to their chronic pain becoming harder to deal with. With all the new free time they put all their time into their studies and fell in love with biology and the other sciences

Chapter one: Changes
This au is the Wild Kratts Guardianship au by @littlecrittereli
The idea is that their is a bigger age gap between Martin and Chris (About 9 or so years apart) and Martin as legal Guardianship after Chris at a young age after they parent passed away (Think Lilo and Nani) I hope you like the first Chapter
Chris remembers that day well, he couldn’t forget if he tried. He remembers the teacher writing on the board talking about fractions. He remembers how bored he was because he knew this all and could do this in his sleep if he wanted. He remembers the teacher’s phone suddenly ringing causing everyone around him to jumping in surprise. But the part he remembers the most is the expression on his teachers face when she turned to Chris in terror like someone had died…
And it turned out someone did die.
The rest is just moments of him and his older brother coming back from Uni early (he was supposed to be back that summer break to hang out) them crying and holding each other. The fighting and shouting matches between Martin and their other relatives over him. The sudden change of moving to a super small one bedroom apartment with his brother. The meals going from warm and comforting to salty and small.
But the worst change was Martin and himself. He could remember when his brother would read to him the animal picture books and would show him how a pather would leap into the air to catch its prey. It was so much fun being the wild cat’s hunting down its prey and how he would tackle his bro in their little make believe game.
Now Martin would come home exhausted only to head over to the only expensive thing they owned, the laptop and work on his online studies. Chris now walked to and from school all on his own, coming to an empty apartment instead of the big house that felt like home then here, sitting on the floor and starting his homework on the tiny coffee table next to the second hand couch they owned. When he finished doing the little chorus he had and eating his dinner (if Martin remembered to make it).
Then there was Lauren. At first Chris didn’t know who she was but he did know she was always coming to the apartment and she asked a lot of the same questions over and over again. She was sickly sweet around him but very short with Martin. Maybe they were dating? He had seen shows where the girlfriends were always mad at their boyfriends for some reason he couldn’t understand. But when he overheard some of his classmates talking about a CSP and what that meant with a quick bit of research, he finally knew who Lauren really was.
And that now he really didn’t like Lauren.
This life became the new normal for Chris. When he reached the ripe old age of 12 was when the fights happened. Chris couldn’t understand why he was so angry. I mean he could but more specifically he didn’t know why he was mad at Martin. It was like the littlest corny joke that came out of the older blonde's mouth was like it was directed at him like it was his fault or something.
By the time he became 14 was when his life changed again when Martin got an email from someone with an opportunity that would change both of their lives forever.
===============================================
Aviva looked at the message over and over. Yes? Yes. Yes!! She did it! She got the grant for their research. She couldn’t believe it she couldn’t wait to tell Martin… oh, wait Martin. She felt her excitement turn cold in an instant.
Martin wouldn’t be able to go because of his younger brother. No, she couldn’t do this without him. It was their research, it was their project. If it wasn’t for him she wouldn’t have gotten the idea for doing this in the first place.
It was her first day at uni. She was confident that she would excel in the classes. That wasn’t her problem, it was the fact that she didn’t think she would make any friends. After what happened in space camp she didn’t she ever would again. Zach had shattered her faith in people after the utter betrayal of stealing her technology for himself. Now he owned his own company selling the bots that she originally made. Though their ai was a little off before she could fit their code to learn how to interpret turn of phrase instead of taking them literally which made her happy a little. but , still she was at rock bottom again and needed a new angle and new hook to start inventing something that could help … someone, something?
She hated this so much. She knew better than to put her eggs in one basket but she did anyway and look where it got her. In a classroom of over nine hundred students learning things she learned years ago.
“Psst? Hey,”
She heard a voice coming from behind her. Turning to see a guy in a blue sweatshirt looking at her.
“Yes, can I help you?” She asked deadpan.
“I know this is gonna sound really cliche but I forgot my pen and was wondering…” Before he even finished his sentence she had produced a pen out of almost thin air handing it to him.
“Oh my gosh you’re a lifesaver. Thank you.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever.” She exasperated turning back around.
“I’m Martin” and a hand stretched out from the left of her face caused her to wip back around.
“huh? Aviva.” She said unsure of how to interact in this situation. She now gave the guy a better look at him. He was all smiles and started talking about something she wasn’t really paying attention. It was a bad habit she was trying to break. What she did catch was he wanted to be a Zoologist to travel around the world with his little brother when he grows a bit (if he wanted to cause he was only 8 right now). He talked about all the creatures that he liked (Mostly aquatic variety) It reminded her of a golden retriever which made her smile a bit, but then the next thing he said was what started this whole new road she would take not just by herself as she’d thought but with her new friends, no her new family.
“Imagine if you could have the abilities of these awesome creatures.”
Yeah…
What if?

As a fellow person who is upset with Democrats rn, I need all the liberals thinking of not voting because of 'principle' to look around you.
You probably have some plants, maybe a cat or dog statistically. Books you love, people you visit on weekends. LGBTQ+ spaces you frequent IRL and online. Libraries, disabled/neurodivergent friends, women you admire, college classes and small businesses you adore.
Think of every wonderful thing in your life, from coffee runs at midnight to bar crawls to late nights in with a good book. Think of the games you enjoy, video or tabletop or otherwise, or your hobbies that you love. Think of your summer camp experiences, your one night stands, your college explorations. Think of your home, your safe spaces, your local park or mall or cafe. Think of your favorite travel hesitations, concerts and conventions and national parks and route 66 and museums. Think of every little thing that makes you happy to live in the US.
Are you ready to lose that?
Is telling your government that your pissed off at them not doing what you want in the moment worth possibly losing everything?
This is not a matter of what you want personally. This is no longer a matter of who is the perfect candidate. This is not a matter of what makes you happiest and fulfilled and morally justified.
This is about the military being one of the only jobs left, and those who don't join are killed. This is the destruction of rights and the constitution as we know it. This is the revisioned history that deletes internet and destroys priceless artifacts. This is the extinction of minorities and simple pleasures alike.
This is no longer a principal. This is no longer a what-if. We saw what happened in 2016 when people didn't take this seriously. We've seen what Project 2025 is promising. We know time and time again in history that the worst people can cause so much damage because their country let them do what they want.
There is no excuse. This is the Hunger Games; this is Divergent; this is Percy Jackson; this is everything our literature warned us against. This time is life and death.
Vote, or risk losing your favorite Starbucks coffee or McDonalds sandwich or local slushie or alcoholic drink.
Vote, or risk never get to go to DND or knitting circle or book club or a sports game again.
Vote, or risk watching as fandom and books and shows and art is sanitized or nuked.
Vote, or risk losing your cousin's or sibling's or best friend's or even your own life.
Vote, or risk everything you love on 'principle'.
Vote.

hopping on that last anon’s request for a friends to lovers but with whatever cody fern character ur comfortable with 😊
Hey anon thanks for your request. And I love the idea of making a friend to lovers. So I decided to do that with Xavier Plympton. Also just to say form the start I am going to remove the killers form the original AHS 1984. Because I am more comfortable with writing this fanfic without no killers in it. But they are still going to camp.(camp is mentioned) Also a disclaimer I have not seen AHS 1984, but I have seen some parts online. So I know what happens. But I will take my own spin on it.
Meant to be
Tumblr media
 Pairing: Xavier Plympton x fem!reader.
Description: the reader and Xavier go from friends to lovers. The reader has had a crush on him and finally they get together. Also has a happy ending. The group of friends just decided to have a fun summer out of LA.
Warning: kissing, drinking (responsible) also a little smoking. And spelling mistakes. Let me know if I miss anything.
1984
(after aerobics class/ parking lot)
Y/n pov
I just love doing aerobics, I found my passion for it 2 years ago. And I can honestly say found something that makes me feel like I belong. My friend Xavier also makes me feel like I belong. You can say that Xavier is one of my best friends. But I want to be more than friends with Xavier.
I am standing outside the aerobics studio after my lesson smoking in the parking lot. I only smoke cigarettes on occasion.
Soon I heard the door to the studio open, and I see my friends walking outside, with a dark haired girl. And they all walk up to me, i keep smoking until my cigarette is finished. I suddenly am only focus on Xavier beautiful eyes, I am lost in them.
Yes I have feelings for Xavier, I want to be more them friends with him. I have known him since we were both 15. And I just want to kiss his gorgeous lips with a burning passion.
“ Brooke this is our other friend y/n.” Montana said as she introduced me to this dark haired girl.
“ Nice to meet you Brooke.” I said as I wave at her. She seemed like an interesting person. And Brooke then gave me a smile and a wave.
“ So how long have you all known y/n?” Brooke asked my friends. So they all started to tell the stories of how they meet me. Then it was Xavier turn to tell our friendship story. “ Me and y/n have actually been friends since we were 15. And are still close.” Xavier said as he is smiling right at me. I smiled back at him.
But my heart feels like I want to be more than friends with Xavier, it kinda feels like I am in the friend zone with him. But I still am happy to have Xavier in my life. Maybe one day we can be more than friends. That is what I hope.
As my cigarette is finished I put it out on and stepped on it. I was getting ready to go to my car. As I see most of my friends and Brooke walking away and leaving the parking lot. Then I felt my shoulder getting taped. I then saw that it was Xavier and hat taped my shoulder. My mind is wondering all the things he can ask me. What if he actually wants to be more than just friends. Just like I want.
Xavier pov
As I am standing in the parking lot with my friends, my eyes are only focused on y/n. My heart is beating out of my chest every time I see her. But I don’t even know if she feels the same way. I enjoy being friends with y/n, but I also want to be her boyfriend.
I can’t deny that during aerobics classes I at times have been checking out y/n. All I want is to kiss her lips with a passion that we both contend to. As I see y/n about to leave to her car I just have to ask her something.
So I take my moment to tap on her shoulder, now we’re face to face. Maybe I can actually say the words that I really want to say.
“Y/n, I have been wanting to tell you this for some time. And I think now is the moment. I am in love with you. And I want you to be my girlfriend.” The words left my mouth. I finally confessed my feelings for the girl I love. My heart is beating so fast.
“Xavier, yes I want to be your girlfriend. I feel the same way about you. And I thought you wouldn’t feel the same way. But yes I want to be your girlfriend.”
Y/n just told me. And just a few seconds later we’re kissing. And it is so magical. I also think that going to be camp counselors with my friends and my new girlfriend is going to be fun.
Y/n pov
I can’t believe that me and Xavier are finally a couple. This is a dream come true, and I can’t believe that this is happening. And just in a few days our friend group is going to be camp counselors for some weeks of this summer. We decided that it could be fun. And know I am not only going to camp with my friends but also my new official boyfriend.
This summer is going to be fun, and I can’t wait. I finally convinced my feelings for the guy I liked also he likes me back.
At the camp
Xavier pov
We’re at the camp site, and it is very peaceful at the moment. And tomorrow the children are coming, this is going to be a great time.
After a tour of the camp and also learning all the rules, we held with what was needed. My eyes soon land on my girlfriend, that is helping carry the boxes to the kitchen. Still can’t believe we ended up together. And she makes me feel like no one has ever made me feel.
I can feel a spark when we’re together, and when we kiss it is like everything stops. I can’t imagine my life without y/n.
After everyone is done helping for the day we are just chilling out. Me and y/n decide yo go be alone, and just have some us time.
We’re kissing and my heart is beating out of my chest. This is meant to be. I am so excited to spend the summer with my friends and my amazing girlfriend. As we pull away form the kissing, y/n takes my hand and place it we’re her heart is.
“Xavier, my heart beats for you. I love you, and you and I are meant to be.”
Y/n tells me. Then I move my hand, and place y/n hand on my chest we’re my heart is placed.
“Y/n, feel my heart this is what you do to me. I love you. And were meant to be. This I believe with everything in my body.”
I said looking directly into y/n gorgeous y/e/c, and I see sparkles in this eyes. Can’t believe this is my real life. She is the best person I could ever ask to be my girlfriend.
Y/n pov
After me and Xavier had some alone time, we decided to go back to each of our cabins. I gave him a kiss to say goodbye, knowing we will see each other again tomorrow.
I am in the cabin I share with Brooke and Montana. Were just having friendly conversations and getting to know each other more. Well mostly Brooke getting to know me and Montana more, also we get to know Brooke more. I can see a friendship coming between me and Brooke.
This summer is going to me a great one. And I can’t wait to see what adventures we have in store.
And I can’t wait to spend my summer with Xavier.
Thanks for reading. And sorry that it took some time for this to be finished. I wanted to do my best. And I hope to write for for Xavier Plympton in the future. Also I might even write for him as a ghost. I hope everyone enjoyed reading this. I did try my best. And I hope to in the future at times write long fanfics, some times I just end up writing short ones. And if you want to longer Xavier Plympton fanfic I will definitely try at write one. Stay safe everyone and take care.

reminder that someone loves you:
every thursday I go to a songwriting class hosted by the same place I do theatre. at the same time, there's an improv class going on, led by another member of the small company that does this stuff. this place does a summer camp, every August for two two-week sessions and I go for both, as well as a few other kids. keep in mind, we usually only see each other once a year.
well, this set of twins I know who go to this summer camp took up the improv class, and every time I walk into the church where it's held they come running towards me for hugs.
these are kids who I have only seen for one month every year, for four or five years now. if those kids (we're the same age, [bodily, that is] idk why i'm calling them kids) can race to go hug someone at the door of a church where they see each other for five minutes every week after seeing each other one month each year, then you can sure as hell bet there is someone who loves you like that in your very near vicinity, weather that be online or not. if I saw any of my moots from here walk in that church door I would run to go hug them.
you are loved.
remember that.

sorry made a post about this in the tags somewhere about this and realized that most people do not know this about me
So I'm a black belt in taekwondo, since I went to this martial arts after school from about 5-11.
But I cannot understate HOW MUCH TIME I SPENT THERE EVERY YEAR.
After school? Monday thru Friday, 3-6. Summer camp? Monday thru Friday, 8:00-5:30. Spring camp? Monday thru Friday, 8:30-5:00.
During quarantine? When I had school online and most people were in their room doing classes? I WAS AT SAID CAMP. DOING ZOOM. WITH 12 OTHER KIDS IN THE SAME ROOM. LIKE I WAS IN A FUCKING CALL CENTER. WHY
and like??? did not know that this wasn't normal until i was 10 or so. did not really get that other people went home after school or were on sports teams. I was on the fucking taekwondo belt level GRIND.
then i quit the second i got my black belt cause i hated it by that point

Finding online programs for high school students
If you’re a high schooler hunting for a summer camp near me, then you should know that participation in summer programs can significantly improve the time you have between your academic years, especially if you want to develop certain skills and knowledge or study subjects that you wouldn't have opportunity to pursue during your academic year. High schoolers who are greatly interested in visual arts can pursue their enthusiasm while surrounded by professionals and classmates who share their interests in a variety of summer courses.
While many pre-college programs are costly, there are heaps that offer substantial financial aid or are either free. One thing to remember is that although most programs are in-person, COVID-19 has caused many to provide a virtual alternative or go entirely online. These days, the best camps and institutions offer summer online programs. Being an important period of the year, universities and colleges are extremely keen on what candidates did throughout their summer vacation. Developing their knowledge and skills is viewed as a great plus and a good omen, particularly in relation to certain college courses they choose to specialize in. One of the key benefits of online courses, like one offered by short hills summer camp is the chance for pupils from all across the world to communicate and interact with one another through comprehensive training, interesting student activities, and educational university accomplishment events. An active community of intellectuals and students can be found in the online classroom. For best results, students should use cameras and their headsets to take part in conversations and contribute to the program.
Online summer classes for high school students are your best option if there is a really specialized topic or subject you want to learn more about over the vacation this summer but you can't locate an in-person class or camp for it. This will enable you to enjoy a fruitful and enjoyable summer even from your room.
