Oh. My. God.

Hugh... Hugh, you are awesome...

I was watching an interview they made with Hugh, Cassie and Graham where they asked Hugh "Does music play a part in you developing your characters?"

He answered that it was a conversation that he and Cassie had actually had, because they'd both made a bit of a playlist for theirs, and he'd been listening to Jobriath to help get himself in the mood.

And when he said that, I went "Wait, hold on..." because I remembered there was another interview - where they'd asked him if the actors had any say when it came to choosing the wig their character would wear - where Hugh mentioned that yeah, they did, and that he'd wanted his looks to be a bit inspired by '70s Glam Rock...

Guys...

Jobriath was the 1st openly gay Glam Rock artist, whose career suffered a major backlash from homophobic audiences (from what I understand, the way his publicist chose to exploit his sexuality as a marketing tool didn't help), that sadly died of AIDS back in 1983 (at age 36).

He played in the musical "Hair", and here is how he looked back then...

But the picture that fucking killed me, however, is this one...

Because, I mean...

Another interesting fact: His birth name was actually Bruce Wayne Campbell.

He changed it to Jobriath Salisbury after deserting from the US Army.

They eventually did find him and arrest him, though, and he spent about 6 months in a military psychiatric hospital after suffering a breakdown.

Just thinking about poor Radovid attempting to run away from the Redanian court, only to be pulled right back in, and definitely looking right in the verge of a breakdown here...

(I'm hoping Radovid's story get a happier ending than what happened to Jobriath IRL, though...)

One of his songs is actually called "Take Me I'm Yours"...

And it's totally worth a listen!

I can't say if this particular song was a part of Hugh's playlist when developing the character, but...

... suddenly feels like an even more inspired line to me.

There are other songs and lyrics from Jobriath that do give me some solid Radskier feels...

So basically, Hugh Skinner was offered to play a gay Prince/King on a major fantasy show...

And apparently, thought that he'd take the opportunity to draw inspiration from, and subtly pay homage to, a near-forgotten gay cultural icon.

And it's perfect!

Danny is a Kryptonian. Not by birth. But by the realm.

The infinite realm is infinite, time is connected to it at all times in different spots. When a world is destroyed or a species goes extinct the realm is effected.

When kyrpton exploded. Time moved on the earthly realm of course. However a natural portal had opened. One that only opened in the realm at the same moment the Fenton portal opened for the first time.

Danny wasn’t just blasted by pure ectoplasm from the realm, but of the very essence of kyrpton itself. Altering Danny’s DNA even more. Infusing kyrptonian DNA into him as well as him becoming half ghost.

Danny has no clue. He assumes it’s all ghost powers. So did frostbite. What happened to him was unknown and entirely new. Besides had frostbite ever truly looked at normal human DNA before.

Danny’s first experience with kryptonite is when lex Luther showed up to “fund” fentonWorks. The anti-ecto weaponry worked surprisingly well on the supers. And he couldn’t just get into the Fenton computers without a green virus shutting him down.

Lex is intrigued. Does his digging on this “human” boy only to find he was adopted as a baby. Through less then legal methods.

Ellie on the other hand feels the effects in front of Conner. She was very confused just as he was.

Ah, thank you, anon, it's okay. It's been a while now (court moves slooow), but we're getting hopefully close to the end. She filed in Family Court December 2022, and we've had about five interim hearings with final trial (finally) scheduled over four days next month, so fingers crossed! But yeah, it's been A Time. He's financially and emotionally abusive against my sister, and both those things as well as medically negligent against their children (who are only six and eight and both have special needs), so it's been....rough. To say the least.

But on a lighter note, have one of my new favourite photos I took of my nephews at the jellyfish enclosure at the aquarium last month!

#i DO feel like i have an honourary family law degree at this point haha #and i think i've got at least three different creative projects that are coming out of it because the levels of insight #you develop #is just #yes #wow #A Lot #i hhaaaated the idea when i was younger that you became a better writer as you get older #like i think i genuinely did have this mindset like age has nothing to do with talent #and i kind of do still think that #i think there are young writers who are wildly good #but it's also impossible to articulate the absolute wilderness that is humanity that you get deeper into as you age #that makes me sound a hundred lmao i'm 33 #but i think in particular there's this pivot point when the people you love start to have families of their own with people who are #so removed from your way of being #and sometimes that's amazing and sometimes that's awful #and what comes out in the wash of that is just a perfect mix of generational trauma AND generational enabling #privilege and expectation and mindsets around familial roles #and the sudden and horrible reveal that you have had children with a man who will be diagnosed a destructive narcissist #and who will reject the idea of your children having disabilities because how could he - a perfect man - father children with disabilities #and will turn all that loathing onto a woman he once said he loved because he decides she is the defective one who gave him broken children #which is literally how he thinks #it's soooo #yeah #anyway my sister is amazing and my nephews are perfect #and honestly it's been special in a lot of ways because y'know i'm a middle child she's my big sister #and we've had a tumultuous relationship over the years but this has honestly made us closer than we've ever been in our lives #and i'm proud of that but i'm really proud of the relationship i have with those little boys #and i think need hope we're going to win and she'll be able to move herself and the boys here even as the odds are stacked against us SO #i WILL also be calling on the universe / heavens / everyone's good vibes next month

#i saw her speak in 2022 i think?#and i remember thinking that she was absolutely going to win a nobel #at some point #im very happy about this #also human act is devastating and amazing #and i think overall a much easier book on the reader #not from a technical perspective but because of #whose perspective is shown #the premise of the vegetarian being the dehumanization and silencing #of yeong-hye means that one spends a lot of time #in the heads of those dehumanizing her #and that can be impenetrable in certain ways
