Here's the thing. In his own books, Steve Rogers is rarely if ever actually working for the government. Like. Did y'all miss Civil War? The man is anti-registration. He fights for the underdogs. He was born in the 1922 and grew up in the Great Depression. He grew up Irish Catholic in the 20s and 30s. His parents were immigrants. He became Captain America to fight injustice. He became Captain America to fight the Nazis. Everything he stands for is equality and justice.

Then you find him in an X-Men project (comic, show, movie, etc) and he gets subjected to the most atrocious character assassination. I don't know what it is about X-media that makes every single Avenger get whacked with the character assassination beam but it happens all the freaking time. The most recent example I can think of is the scene in X-Men '97 where Rogue runs into him and Steve's like "If this suit is seen bashing heads with you, that sends a message" and "gotta do this by the book" like excuse me?? Idk who that is but that's not Steve Rogers!! "By the book" is not in his vocabulary like come onnnn...

There are some Avengers that I can believe would be anti-mutant. There are some Avengers that I can believe wouldn't be anti-mutant but wouldn't be willing to put their reputation on the line for them. (I won't name names in the interest of not getting jumped in the notes.) But Steve though? If he were written well in X-media, he would be fighting alongside them. Unfortunately, for plot reasons mostly, Steve Rogers will never be treated well in X-media ever.

So I just finished T87CS! This is my main takeaway from the episode

Siddig gives me gender envy more than anything. I look at that man and think 'dear God I wish I was that pretty wow', both when he was a 30-ish twink and now when he's an incredibly beautiful older man.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with any gender dysphoria that I absolutely do not have of course.
