I still want to learn the bass guitar.

I still want to go to art school and graduate.

I still want to to have a job and smile to wonderful people and make their day a little better.

I still want a family of my own, biological or not, to love and share memories with.

I still want to play video games with my boyfriend. Marry him, too, and travel the world with my partner and husband.

I still want to retire in Japan an old person who gardens and gives flowers and vegetables to neighbors.

I still want to be the person someone can go to for confidence and support.

I still want to live... I'm just... So tired of trying to live. Especially when so many people put me down for wanting these things. I shouldn't care, but I do, because sometimes the same people saying I can't are the same oppressors who prevent me from doing so. My parents, my landlord, my congressperson of state, my friends and their own circumstances, my siblings. All share in the fact that my goals are wrong or harmful to them and myself in some way. Being taught that I can still do those things when people actively keep me away from my goals is not fun. It's exhausting and discouraging and the only way I know to stop the noise would bring out even more pain and exhaustion to the people I wish to save from myself.

Though as I mentioned on my Ominous October post, for events that include multiple short stories, I encourage everyone to flex their creativity and take one of their planned short story fanfics, and at least *attempt* to turn one of them into something entirely original; rebuilding a character and story from the ground up to stand on its own two legs is no easy feat, and that is what makes it so fun!

It really gets your creative gears turning, to make an "au of an existing material" to be something entirely original, and you can be pleasantly surprised about the things you come up with!

As a few people say, its not just a matter of "filing the serial numbers off" -- you have to add in just as much *or more* as what you take out when you are turning a fanfiction into something that is original and completely divorced from its original source material / inspiration, and that is a hard, but very rewarding challenge!

Obviously, this is not a requirement (there's no hard requirements for any of the challenges, other than no cheating, including no using AI),

but if you would like an extra challenge for the short story events and you're planning on doing entirely fan-fiction, I highly recommend trying it out at least once, and seeing where it leads you--

you may find yourself pleasantly surprised by what you find down that rabbit hole!

An SMG4 AU Side Story

SMG4's managed to set up another game of Mushrooms and Morons with Mario, Luigi, Bowser and Toad, and now Meggy, Bob, Karen and Juliano have joined the fun as well! This time, rather than just playing vaguely fantasy-ish versions of themselves in silly hats, they have actual characters... which I have not come up with yet. Their party has been tasked with traveling all across the Kingdom of Zabadoo and probably, hopefully saving it, having many adventures along the way.

Unfortunately, 4's DMing hasn't improved as much as he seems to think it has, and the group is bigger and wackier than ever, so things are unlikely to stay on the rails for long.
