Who’s laughing now
🎂: Fop; a new wish
🧁: Hazel
🍫: Dev (technically peri as well)
Summary: Dev gets a little magical revenge on Hazel for her little wish, and it turns into a fun game.
A/N: more revenge for dev, along with kids being silly and playing!! Enjoy:3
Who’s laughing now
Hazel, Winn, Jasmine and Dev were all hanging out after school. They went to their designated hang out spot in the park, where no one was around.
Hazel was chatting to Winn and Jasmine about rocks, completely oblivious to the scheming happening just a few feet from them.
You see, on Saturday, Hazel had used a wish to tickle Dev. After the hangout was over, Dev announced war. And he planned to follow through.
He waited until there was an uproar in volume, then turned to his fairy.
“Peri, ya ready?”
“Mm-hmm! Just say the magic words!”
“I wish that Hazel was being tickled by magic right now!” Dev grinned evilly. This was gonna be fun to watch.
“Huhuh! Wahahait whahat ihis thahahat?!” Hazel’s laughter burst forward, breathy and quick.
“Hazel? What’s going on?” Winn asked.
“I-Ihi duhunnoho! Sohomethihings tihicklihing mehehe!”
Dev took this opportunity to reveal his scheme.
“That would be me. With a little help, of course.” He pointed at Peri.
As Hazel wheezed on the ground, Dev continued his monologue. “I think it’s about time I got my revenge, don’t ya think? I mean,I did declare war after all.”
“Oho yohohou ahare soho gohoing dohown!” Hazel tried to fight back and attack Dev, but he and his godparent had planned for this, and He was scooped up of the ground before she could get to him.
“Oho no! There’s no getting out of this one, Hillside! You thought you were sooooo smart, but look who’s laughing now!”
Hazel giggled out a question. “Lihike ihin thehe contehext ohof tihihicklihing? Lihike ihim lahaughing becahahause ohof it? Ohor lihike yohoure lahaughing cahause yohou gohot mehe?”
Dev just shrugged, “Both! It’s a play on words.”
At the nonchalant comment Winn giggled slightly. They loved a good pun.
After a minute or so, Hazels laughter became long strings of wheezes, being silent sometimes.
At this point Dev almost cancelled the wish but thought he would ask first. “Are you okay?” He seemed slightly concerned.
As much as she could through her laughter, Hazel muttered out a yes, making Dev sigh in relief.
“Good. That’s means I can continue to enact my revenge! Muahahaha!” He did an over-the-top evil laugh to accentuate the point.
At this, the kids turned into a sort of super hero game.
“Oh no, Hazel! We have to save her!” Jasmine giggled out, pretending to be concerned or distraught.
“We will stop you, villain! You won’t get away with this!”
“I’d like to see you try!” With a touch of magic, the park transformed into an evil lair, with Hazel trapped up on the top floor, still giggling away.
“Your friend is captured! And unless you give into my demands, she will be tickled forever! Muahahhaaha!!” Dev really leaned into the Villain role, having a lot of fun playing the part.
“We will stop you! Chaaaarge!!” Winn cried out playfully, starting to chase Dev.
Using his Au-pairs, Dev evaded them, he whispered to Peri who was flying next to him.
“Can we make a trap in the next room for me to lure them into?”
Peri nodded and smiled mischievously. “Sure, kid!”
Dev then flew into the aforementioned room, making sure to be well above the ground. As soon as Jasmine and Winn stepped in the room, the trap triggered, making them hang upside down.
“I have a victim to attend to, and I can’t have you two meddling in my plans! So you two have fun in here- good luck muahahahahaha!!”
Then Dev flew up to the large room with glass walls, where Hazel was sitting and squirming around as magic continued to buzz around her tickle spots.
“Alright, Haywire! If you want this to stop, all you have to do is give into my demands!”
“Nehehever!” Hazel put on a defiant hero role for a moment, before hesitating. “Wahahait whahat exahactlyhy ahahare yohour demahahands?”
Dev silences for a moment (he hadn’t thought of that) and then spoke with a hefty bravado, “I want you to admit that you will lose this war! Muahahahhaha!!”
“Nehehever! Yohohou wohohont gehet ahanythihing ohouta mehe!”
From below, Winn and Jasmine called up, still playing into the roles they were given. “Don’t do it Hazel! You can handle it!”
“Yeah! If you lose who knows what the villain will do to the world!”
Dev laughed ‘evilly’ again. “YES! for I am the infamous Villain known as Dev the Devil, and I am here to cause nothing but chaos! Muahhaha!!”
Peri raised an eyebrow. “Dev the Devil? Really?”
“I was coming up with something on the spot!”
He turned back to Hazel.
She was laughing pretty hard. She didn’t know that magic could tickle this much. And now matter how she moved or squirmed it didn’t change anything.
And while she did enjoy being tickled, at some point she was gonna run out of stamina and she knew it.
“Well? Anything to say to me~?”
“Okahay! Ihi lohost!”
At a glance from Dev, Peri made a small lightning strike and thunder clap for dramatic effect. “YESSS! I WIN! MUAHAHA!”
“Release the girl and her friends. I have what I want.”
The scene faded back into the park, with all four of the kids sitting on the picnic blanket right where they were before the whole mess. Hazel was still letting out leftover giggles.
After everyone settled down, Hazel gave Dev a mischievous look.
“You may have one the battle, Dev, but I will win the war!”
“We’ll see about that!”
And then they all erupted into laughter once more.

literally mister mind i do not know him but the fact he is like a literal actual worm. ... hey wait a sec. i have a type don't i
also the new shazam didn't have the caterpillar in more than the post credits scene that was even worse than the part where they had a character be an ableist jerk for no reason (HUGE /J THERE)
#he probably isn't a real doctor either holy shit#he still looks like a caterpillar though btw. or at least not an earth worm#but he's like just a little bug and he talks and it's so funny#he's like ''oho don't underestimate me i have very complicated plans happening ''#and i am like. you are a bug. you need glasses. you are a bug that needs glasses and you expect me to take you seriously?#i get he's really smart or whatever but he's my favorite dc villain in concept probably#just a bug#i think maybe they made him different in the rewrites of his character but also he was literally just a worm that was smart#good writing tbh

❁✧✿✧❁
The air feels thick. These days it’s hard to come across alcohol that merely so much as makes their heads feel fuzzy, let alone make them drunk, and yet somehow Douma managed to anyway. Akaza has now idea how he did that and he honestly doesn’t want to know. For now, he downs another shot and tries to tune back into whatever his higher ups are talking about.
“And I’m telling you, it’s not about remembering the person, it’s more of a feeling, you know?” Douma points at the wall. “I see them and a little voice in my mind just goes ‘I hate you.’ I don’t need to know the reason.”
Akaza would love to give some words of approval but he really doesn’t need to give his rival that satisfaction, just because he said something true for once. Also, he’s not sure whether he could if he wanted to. His tongue feels sticky. Everything feels sticky. He downs another shot.
“Mhm.” Kokushibo swivels his drink, spills some drops on the table and stops. “Although if you choose to forget the source of your hate, forgiveness will never be an option.”
While Douma turns into a somewhat smart version of himself when drunk, Kokushibo does the complete opposite. “Bullshit.” Good job Akaza, that wasn’t completely incomprehensible.
“Now now.” Douma’s eyes were halfway into closing, now they squint at him with that stupid lazy expression. “There might be some truth to this.”
“There’s not.” Akaza does his best to glare back. “No one ever deserves forgiveness anyways.”
Kokushibo nods. “I never claimed so.”
“Ballsy statement.” Upper Two grins and refills all of their glasses. “Fair though… forgiveness is so boring. Everything should be resolved through a fight to the death.”
“That’s what I’m saying.”
“As long as it works for you.” Kokushibo’s slurring his words slightly and it takes everything for Akaza not to think judgy thoughts. He’s currently getting drunk on an unidentifiable liquor Douma brought, he’s not in the position to think judgy thoughts about anything.
“Does it?” Douma’s eyes gleam with curiosity. “I mean, work for you? Actually?”
Akaza wants to say Yes and then stops himself just in time to rethink his answer. Does it? Actually? “Sometimes.”
“Ah.” Douma grins at Kokushibo as if they share a secret Akaza isn’t in on, which- they’re talking about him, this is ridiculous- “The Flame Pillar.”
He doesn’t want to snap like he does, really, but no level of intoxication could ever be high enough for him to ignore that. “Mind your fucking business.”
“Oho, did you hear that, Lord Kokushibo? Someone’s being a little moody.” Douma’s grin only widens as he refills their glasses once more. “Relax. You won, didn’t you? And against a rather strong fighter too. What’s there to be moody about?”
Akaza scoffs. “Sure didn’t feel like a victory.”
“Wanna know what I think?”
Before he can say No, because no, Kokushibo softly clears his throat. “You should hear him out.”
It sounds more like youshhhoulhearhimou but Akaza isn’t so stupid to think that Kokushibo won’t remember this. He rolls his eyes in defeat. “I’m waiting.”
Douma smirks. “I think you’re just being dramatic about it to feel better about yourself after Lord Muzan got so angry at you. A victory is a victory, no matter how much you got your shit rocked.”
“Language, Douma.”
And while the other two now start to bicker about cussing, Akaza can’t do much more than cling to his glass and think to himself that Douma has no idea what he’s talking about.

Chapter 2 / ?
previous / next
TW: alcohol
"What do you even work as?" "Well what do I look like? I'm curious."
I took a good look at him. Brown messy hair. Not pale but also not tan. Noticeable eyebags. Beige trench coat. This time his dress shirt looked just a bit more crumpled than usual.
"Unemployed and broke." Another over dramatic gasp. "Okay I'm just kidding. Let me think."
Crumpled dress shirt. He seemed rather fit too. Something that is just a tad bit physically demanding perhaps? His clothes didn't seem crumpled all the time though. I assumed these are his work clothes. Okay. Trench coat. Sometimes physical. He's smart. Intriguing. He's good at reading people and can put on an absolute poker face in a matter of seconds. This man lies. He lies so much. That's how much I've figured out during our frequent meetings. They were always in a bar. He sometimes left abruptly.
Bandages. Why the fuck is he wearing bandages?
"Can I ask you a question?" "Go on." "Okay answer as quickly as you can: Two men are sitting at a table. Both are dead. Between them a chess board and a revolver. What happened?" He blinked once. "Oh a riddle! Both men were on board a sinking submarine. They didn't have much air left. Due to the fact they only had one bullet they decided to play a game of chess. The loser would have to suffocate while the winner gets to shoot himself." I felt the corners of my mouth turn upwards.
"Correct. Dazai, I'm going to take a wild guess here: You're a detective." "You got me." Dazai took a sip out of his glass. Only one. I was puzzled. The first time he did that. Maybe this was his way of admitting defeat. He turned to me again.
"What about you? What's your job?" "Take a guess, mister detective." "Well you clearly are practically illiterate when it comes to the Japanese language so that makes most jobs impossible for you to do."
He studied me for a few seconds. Then stopping at my hands. Grabbing my wrist to look at it he concentrated on my fingertips. "Oho. You're overworked but still try to take care of your nails I see." "What gives you the impression I'm overworked?" The sarcasm in my voice was clearly noticeable. I knew exactly that I had dark circles under my eyes. I gave up on trying to get rid of them.
"Interesting manicure. It's not every day you see someone with long nails on the right and short nails on the left hand. You're right handed. So the nails must have a purpose." Now caressing my fingertips he started to grin. "Calloused. Only on the left hand."
A true detective. "I guess I'm also allowed to ask a final question. What song do you listen to the most at the moment?" "Return to Serenity by Testament." "So we're practicing some solos, huh?" "You only had one question."
He now turned fully towards me. "You're a guitarist am I right? And you probably just came from a job." "Correct." Now he was grinning, smiling, laughing even. Ordering a shot I admitted defeat. He was not completely right. But I decided to let him have this little victory.
"But that surely can't be enough to survive out here."
There we go. He got it. I told him that he was right. It's impossible to live just from little gigs alone.
"Modeling? Hmmm... Nah, can't imagine that."
I hit him. Not with much force but he still made a scene. As expected. Suddenly he pulled out something from his pocket. He tipped away on his phone for a bit. Next thing I knew he showed me an article.
"Read that out loud for me please. "
Confused I did what he said. The article was written in English. Looked like a reputable source. After I was done Dazai clapped once smiling.
"And now tell me what it's about."
Telling him about its contents he started grinning even more. Fuck, he got me.
"I'm guessing English teacher? Private tutoring?"
Slowly I started nodding. "Yeah. Those two are my main jobs. Otherwise I just take whatever I can get to scratch a living."
"Makes sense."
I was pretty sure he was currently working as a detective and didn't lie to me but I couldn't shake this feeling that there was something he didn't tell me. He's capable of far more than what he's shown for now. I couldn't tell what it was about him that made me feel this way. He just had this eery vibe to him. Like when something is slightly off but you can't tell what it is exactly. Dazai definitely is full of secrets.
I just hope he hasn't figured out mine yet.

[sorry if I'm taking a bit long to post new chapters rn. I'm currently a bit stressed because I'm drowning myself in work again. I can't seem to find any spare time at the moment. I'm also working on publishing this thing on ao3 but I still need to figure out how that works. Anyway I think I've finally found an ability and backstory for the reader that could work but I'm not dead set on that yet.]
As always I am open for requests and ideas as well as feedback from you guys.

A Praying Chant - Chapter 2
Translated by: @seisoukan
With thanks to my proofers: @kuma829
Season: Winter
Location: Classroom
MAKOTO: Akehoshi-kun, stop messing around and give me my glasses back.
SUBARU: I’ll return them if you can catch me! Hahahaha~
MAKOTO: Huff, huff, give them back quickly, Akehoshi-kun. I can’t see at all…
Besides, running around like this in the classroom is really dangerous.
Uwah!
Sorry, I bumped into your desk. Is that you, Otogari-kun?
Excuse me, I don’t have my glasses, so I can’t see you all that clearly.
ADONIS: Mhm, it’s me. Are you alright?
MAKOTO: It’s nothing, haha. Let me help you fix your desk.
SUBARU: Are you alright, Ukki? I’m super sorry I made you hit the desk.
Ukki, here’s your glasses. Occhan, too, I’m sorry for causing you trouble.
MAKOTO: That’s why you shouldn’t chase each other around the classroom. You’ll cause others trouble this way, Akehoshi.
We’ve been occupied enough recently, so be a good boy and behave.
SUBARU: Oho? Are you pretending to be Hokke?
MAKOTO: As expected of Akehoshi-kun, you could tell with just a look~
ADONIS: You two have such a good relationship.
SUBARU: But, Occhan, you’re acting weird. Why do you have an unhappy look on your face? Being sad isn’t good for your health, you know.
Come, come, show me a smile! Just like this ☆
MAKOTO: From the looks of it, Otogari-kun is experiencing some trouble, right? If you can, could you tell us a little about it?
If there’s anything I can do to help, I’d like to lend a hand. We’re classmates, after all.
On top of that, I did bump into your table, and I also want to make amends for that.
SUBARU: Yup, yup, Occhan! If you have any troubles, feel free to talk to us!
ADONIS: Actually, I haven’t encountered any troubles. It’s just that Oogami didn’t come to school today. That worries me a little.
SUBARU: Oh, right! I was just saying it was weird I didn’t bump into Gami-san today.
ADONIS: Mm. In truth, Oogami has the flu. That’s what the doctor told me yesterday after we went to the hospital, and so he was immediately given an IV.
Is Oogami’s absence because his condition hasn’t improved?
I should have visited Oogami’s home before I headed to school. It is an oversight on my part.
SUBARU: So, Gami-san has the flu. No wonder after I took Daikichi for a walk last night, Daikichi was holding something Gami-san gave him in his mouth with a restless look.
At first I thought Daikichi must be missing Gami-san, and I thought about bringing Daikichi to Gami-san for a playdate.
However, how did Daikichi find out Gami-san was sick? Is it possible he has precognitive abilities~?
MAKOTO: Could it be that Akehoshi-kun and Daikichi-kun encountered Oogami-kun and company while on your walk?
Or that Daikichi-kun caught Oogami-kun’s scent; something like that?
SUBARU: Let me think~
At the time, I was just taking a walk with Daikichi, when all of a sudden, he broke free from the leash in my hands, and then I rushed after him…
When I caught up to him, Daikichi was tugging at me like crazy, trying to bring me somewhere. But it was getting sorta late, so I had to bring Daikichi home.
After we got home, he was all worried and restless.
MAKOTO: Hm, if I had to guess, Daikichi must’ve caught Oogami-kun’s scent, which is why he went after it.
Afterwards, he could have seen Oogami-kun, or felt that Oogami-kun and company were nearby, and wanted to bring you to them.
Moreover, there’s an argument that dogs can smell the changes in the body when someone’s sick, although that’s just a saying with no concrete scientific evidence.
Who knows, Daikichi-kun might have sensed something amiss.
SUBARU: I see! As expected of Ukki, you’re super smart ☆
ADONIS: I remember now. While I was carrying Oogami to the hospital,
I did hear the sound of a dog barking behind me.
But due to the emergency at the time, I ignored it. So that was the Akehoshi family dog.
MAKOTO: But since Oogami-kun isn’t here today, let’s visit him together after school.
The task of contacting him will be left to Akehoshi-kun.
SUBARU: Leave it to me~☆
MAKOTO: And Otogari-kun, would you like to come with us?
ADONIS: Thank you. I am willing to go with you.
SUBARU: Great! Let’s meet after school, then. I have to go back home first, but I’ll be back in a jiffy.
I want to prepare a surprise for Gami-san.
MAKOTO: That’s right, we’d better buy a present before visiting Oogami-kun.
ADONIS: Then, what do we buy that is suitable?

Since I can’t ever write an actual fic im just going to idea dump on you guys, sorry. I’m obsessed with Mitsuya rn.
tw: age gap
Slight NSFW
friends with Runa and Mana for a while, more than a few years, but you never saw Takashi that often because he was 10 years older and often at work or with his Toman buddies, so you never thought much of him. Walking home later a night from your part time job, some shady dudes approach you and try to make a move. Ew obviously, the leader tries to grab you and you push him away and kick him out of instinct, now you got 5 delinquent dudes surrounding you. The leader tears your shirt when he grabs you and throws you on the floor. you here a brrbrsorbsoommmmmmm in the distance, but you're too distracted by the dude's fist raise about to hit you... before you know it here comes Takashi on his noisy little bike crashing into the leader head first. He confronts them and he hands you his jacket to cover yourself and your ripped shirt. You look away for a split second then back to see whats happening and every single one of them lying face down totally fucked up. His back is towards you and you can see the fire coming off him, but he turns to you with a genuine smile and extends a hand to you. Still in shock you find yourself on the back of his bike on the way to house. When you reach his house it seems familiar... like oh shit this is where runa and mana live??? a mistake right??? Until the two girls come running out the front door saying Taka Nii!!! We heard your bike from a mile away- eh? y/n?? what are you doing with Taka Nii? It took you a whole minute to process that this was the infamous Takashi Mitsuya, the infamous older brother of your best friends. He turns and said "huh dont remember me? well i could never forget my sister's precious friends. Now come inside, let me find you some clothes while i patch up your shirt" ..
Scenario 2
You are about two years older than Runa and Mana and they think the world of you. It makes you blush when they comment on how smart you are or good at things you are, even if you're not and they just don't know any better. They look up to you as a college student which is why they beg and beg and beg you to help them study for interest exams. They're so helpless, how could you say no? You arrive at their house at the planned time but you receive a text from they saying they passed a dessert shop that was having a sale and those two couldnt pass up the opportunity. They instructed you to let yourself in and you could wait in Runa's room. How awkward, but its even creepier to be waiting outside their house. You grab a glass of water sighing as you enter the next room over heading towards the stairs. "Mana and Runa aren't home yet" you jolt and your head snaps around to see Taka, sitting there on the couch. Obviously startled you lose your balance and stumble backwards, spilling water all over yourself. "oho you've made a mess now" He leaves for just a brief moment coming back with one of his T-shirts. It smells so good, just like him. "come with me" without thinking about it, you follow him to his room where he turns around to face the corner to give you some privacy as you change... a very shy "thank you" comes off your lips. He pats your head and says "no problem" ... breaking the tension, your stomach growls. of course, you're starving... in between classes you haven't eaten all day. You wait in his room as he brings up some various snacks including his home made cake. It was delicious, but this idiot only brought one fork. didnt seem to bother him as he had no problem using his hands like an animal. But seeing his slender fingers, covered in frosting, connected to *HIM* ... now that made you an animal... your body is moving faster than your brain at this point and pull his fingers in your mouth. mmmm you cant decide whats more delicious, the frosting or the stupid face he's making. He *was not prepared for that* Y/N- chan.... you realize that Runa and Mana are my little sisters, that makes me 10 years older than you, you don't have to do this. (might exclude from my fantasy because idk if that part is weird or not) You couldn't even say anything at all before you're straddling him at the end of the bed. his hands on the small of your back to hold you steady. You can feel his growing erection in his pants which only made you wanna grind on him more... "are you sure about this Y/N.. I won't be able to hold back if its you.." ..."please, do it" its almost a whine. Next thing you know he flips positions so youre on the bed this time staring up at him. "you asked for this" he rips the buttons off your shirt and you gasp from the little thrill "dont worry, i can sew them back on later" WHY DOES THAT MAKE YOU SO WET, no idea but it does. His hands cup your face and he guides your mouth open with his thumb before your close your lips on it. He is just revved up by the sight. "baby that feels so good, how but your pretty lips try sucking on something else"

HEY HEY HEY!!! hagsfdjkhg okay so i was studying and that reminded me of sth. Like how would study dates go with the Haikyuu boys? (more specifically Kuroo, Akaashi, Iwaizumi, Oikawa, Bokuto, Semi, Goshiki)(Alsooo i dont know if youve got a limit for characters so feel free to omit some of them if you wish ^^)
Study Dates w/ Kuroo, Akaashi, Iwa, Oikawa, Bokuto, and Semi
Kuroo
-Surprisingly enough, Kuroo is actually really good at studying
-like actually though, when you were shocked he was actually offended
- “...did you actually think I was dumb?”
- “I plead the fifth.”
-Likes to lay his head on your lap while you type your assignment w/ your laptop on the armrest of the sofa as he reads his assignment w/ the spine folded in half
-fuck his reading glasses made him really hot
- Would help you proofread your papers and would pop your back for you if the study session was long
-Distracts you, though
- “What?” You peer down at him curiously when his eyes are off his assignment and just staring up at you
- “Babe...can you like, pet my hair?”
- “What are you, a cat? I can’t type with one hand.”
- “Then don’t type.” hoe closes your laptop for you while smirking, waiting for you to give him attention as you hit him with a deadpan stare
- “I should’ve known you were being quiet for too long.”
- Closes his eyes and sighs in relief when you run a hand through his hair, making you shake your head as you open your laptop back up
- Maybe you could type with one hand
Akaashi
- Smart hoe is probably gonna be tutoring you with what you need help on
- Claims he’s not that smart, but passes classes without really trying
- Probably super patient with you, and gives you soft little praises when you get a problem right
-When you’re visibly stressed, he’d leave and come back with your favorite hot beverage while rubbing your shoulders until the tension leaves
- When he’s doing his own assignments, you catch him tracing the pads of his fingers around the crevices in your hand absent-mindedly
- You’re probably the one who gets more distracted than you’re genius boyfriend
- “Akaashi, can we just cuddle?”
- “..Don’t you need to work more on this?”
- “But...” When your lips form into a pout, he sighs before giving in, watching with a blank stare as you dive into his bed and under the covers, ready to nap
- Rolls his eyes, but grabs a textbook on the subject you need help on before getting into bed with you and pulling you into his side, opening the book so you can study together
- he can’t help the small smile on his face when you whine, shushing you
- “Compromise, love, okay?”
Iwaizumi
- Would probably take you to study at a cafe w/ soft music in the background w/ comfy seats by the window
- Gets focused and into his work quickly, and releases a soft sigh after a few minutes, hands stilling over his keyboard
- “Why are you staring at me?”
- “You’re really cute.”
- “Do your work, (y/n)”
- You pout at the fact he hadn’t used your nickname before shoving in your earbuds and ignoring the look of confusion that passed his face when you actually listened without putting up a fight
- Goes back to his own assignment after shrugging it off, reaching out to take your hand across the table
- You pull your hand away innocently before he can do so, pretending to change the song on your playlist as you ignore the look of seriously? written across his face
- “Is there something wrong?”
- “Nope, nothing at all, Iwa.”
- You actually become involved w/ your work and don’t notice the realization dawn on to him before he scoffs and leaves the table, leaving you to sit alone
- wow what a bitch-
- Until he comes back with two mugs of your favorite drink, reaching one out to you as you take it suspiciously
- “Take a break, babe.”
- When you visibly perk up he rolls his eyes as he blows the steam from his mug, a small smirk on the corner of his lips
- “You’re too much.”
- “I love you too.”
Oikawa
- For God sakes, this boy gets so distracted but his glasses make him hotter tho
- “Oikawa, physics isn’t like serving a volleyball-”
- “Hear me out, okay? So, the volleyball has an intial velocity- are you with me?- and from there-”
- “Baby, we’re studying English right now.”
-Would probably share the space on one of your beds to do the assignment, you on the foot of the bed criss cross and him with his back pressed against the headboard with his legs stretched out
- When you’re doing your own assignments with a focused look on your face, this hoe would poke your cheek, marveling at how you didn’t even react before continuing to do it
- You glance at his handsome self sideways “Hm. Are you bored? I couldn’t tell.”
- “Ne, give me a kiss.”
- “Oikawa no.”
- “Please?”
- “I said-”
- “What, do you hate my kisses or something?”
- “Can I please just work-”
- Cuts you off mid-sentence with a peck on your lips as he retracts, a smirk on his features
- “Okay. All energized now. Time to study!”
-ugh this boy
- Gets invested in his own work after awhile, and when you finish before him you pull his glasses off his face before crawling into his lap with the frames now resting on your nose,
- the now closed laptop falls to his side as he eyes you with a smirk “Oho, what’s this?”
- “Shut up. Done yet?”
- “I am now, cutie. Let’s nap.”
Bokuto
- ooooh boy good luck
- “Bokuto, it’s not the end of the world if you can’t do this problem. Stop pouting please, I don’t like seeing you sad.”
- “If I can’t do this...what if I can never make you happy?”
- “Babe whAt”
- Gets easily depressed when he gets to a problem he can’t do, but boasts about himself when he’s able to do it with ease
- “See that, baby? Yeah, I’m smart. You’re dating someone smart, how does it feel?”
- “Bokuto, there are eight more.”
-Nuzzles into your shoulder when he gets distracted, and physically pushes the papers you’re working on away when he wants attention
- Random acts of affection here and there when you’re focused, including him gaping at how easily you seemed to be able to do your work compared to him, making him pepper your face with kisses out of nowhere
- “How are you cute and smart?! That’s not fair, give me some!”
- Would study at a place with an outdoor patio, and you’d have to tap his forehead to stop his eyes from wandering every where else except his assignment
- “Babe, we can go on a date after this if you get your assignment done on time.”
- You’ve never seen your boy more quiet and focused in your entire life
Semi
- “Why don’t you understand this? It’s easy stuff! God, this is troublesome...”
- “We can’t all be good at Trig, Semi. You don’t have to help me if you don’t want to.”
- Semi blinks once, realizing his tone took on an edge that was borderline offensive as you remain unfazed, now looking up an online tutor to help you
- “I...”
- When you look up from your computer questioningly, Semi looks away quickly, looking embarrassed
- “I didn’t mean to...”
- “I know.”
- would sit and do his work on the bed while you sat at his desk in silence, with him occasionally looking up at you once in a while, wondering why you were so quiet
- Semi, I’m just focused like damn-
- when he can’t stand the silence anymore, you blink in question when he’s suddenly behind your chair as he slips the hair tie off your wrist, now pooling your hair from around your neck
- “What are you doing?”
- “You usually study with your hair up...”
- You smile a little, knowing this was his apology for snapping at you earlier with his temper
- Strangely, his bun was super tight and efficient, and you lean your head back to look up at him from an upside down angle as he remains in his spot behind your chair
- “I love you.”
- Blushy tsundere boy turns beet red as you giggle, watching him stomp back to his spot on the bed in embarrassment
- “What was that?” You turn slightly when he mumbles under his breath.
- “I said I love you too! Is that a problem or something?”
- “Ugh, come here.Let’s take a break. I’ll cuddle you.”
- “Wha-? I’ll cuddle you dammit, not the other way around.”
- “Yes, yes, whatever you say.”

Doya, BB-chan? remember your Kiryu with Kiryu-Fan after him? it's hilarious! I love it! Can you do a Majima version? This time have Nishitani and a Majima-fanatic after him? gotta have Majima get a taste of his own medicine [you don't need to prioritized this requests, take your time, please]🧡 thank you
You had a crush on Goro Majima for so long that you’ve become his one and only fan. You knew so much yet so little. Even with your infatuation, you didn’t know how to express your feelings to the mysterious eye-patched man working at the Grand Cabaret. Nishitani, being the kindhearted man he was, decided to lend a hand in one of the many ways he knew how. Being competitive.
UHHHHHHH- 70+ FOLLOWERS???!! YOU ALL ARE WILD!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I know I’m not active here as much but I’m grateful for all of your support!! Modules are really taking most of my time so I never got around to Tumblr. As a gift, I took the chance on what anon requested me and decided to make a oneshot! I’m not good at writing stories but hopefully, I can make it work!
Reader will be more feminine here but I will be writing they/them pronouns. Sorry about that!
Includes: Nishitani flirting with both Y/N and Majima because he has no shame, Suggestive Themes (because Nishitani), Cursing and Explicit Language, Fluff and semi-crack? Me not knowing how to write a story.
============
“How old are ya again, Y/N-chan? Majima-chan is an old man, ya know.” “At least he looks like he’s actually in his 20′s, unlike you.” “I look younger than I look!”
You sigh and look at the man sitting across from you. Nishitani only had a smirk as he bounces his legs, a hostess sitting beside him and serving the both of you. “Are you here to annoy Majima-san again?” You ask him with your eyebrows raised.
“Of course!” Typical.
You, Y/N L/N, were friends with the horny criminal, Homare Nishitani. People didn’t know how or why you were friends with him, and truth be told, you didn’t know either. He had suddenly approached you one day and asked if you ‘had the hots for Majima-kun too.’, and that the both of you go to the Cabaret Grand to annoy him. He was wild and didn’t care if he was being loud. You thought he was going to throw you in the river when you had rejected his advances of ‘leaving Majima-kun and have fun at my place’ but surprisingly, you stayed alive and have been friends ever since.
One of the perks of being with Nishitani was-
“Heyyyy, Majima-kun!!!” Nishitani waves maniacally to the approaching man who looked less than pleased, even if he had a polite smile.
Yep, Nishitani’s perks were that you get basically free access to the Grand. You always spend your money on this place and even then, Majima doesn’t really show up much.
“Nishitani-san.” Majima’s face was stoic as ever but when he turned to you, his eyes got softer and he even let a small smile appear on his face as he bowed politely. “L/N-san. Thank you for coming to our establishment again today.” Had you not been anywhere but around Majima, you would have screamed at the top of your lungs. Instead, you internally squealed and bowed your head. “G-good work again, Majima-san!!”
“I’m the one paying ‘ere, ‘ya know!” Nishitani rolled his eyes before he looked at Majima, “How lucky are we though that we have the famous manager himself to attend to our table!”
“You are not harassing any of our hostesses here, I presume. I wanted to check if my guess was right.” Your eyes widened and you glare at Nishitani, “Harass?!?! Nishitani!!” The man immediately held his hands up and sat a few inches away from the hostess that he was so close with, “I ain’t doin’ nothin’!! My hands are clean!”
Majima watches the both of you interact, he was confused about why the two of you were friends to begin with. No, he wasn’t jealous that the two of you were always together, and even if you were a couple - which he could hardly believe - it wasn’t his business to know.
“It’s all good, manager!” One of his girls said with a smile and he nodded, “I’ll be going then, please continue to enjoy your stay here.” You let out a dreamy sigh as he walked away.
“Majima-kun would ace being in a maid cafe. With the frilly dress and the cat ears and everything, that’d get me rock hard on the spot.” Nishitani randomly said, picking his ears with his pinkie as the hostess giggled at your red face, “L/N-san, do you perhaps...” “Have a mad infatuation with the guy? Hell yeah, they are.” You only looked away bashful. Were you really that obvious??
“I have a feeling Majima-san likes you back too! He treats you as his favorite customer as much as I know!” “Doesn’t he do that to all customers?” You meekly asked, watching her think and shrug. “I think he’s much more genuine to you than anyone else.”
“Not even me?” Nishitani pouted while you look at the large signs of Cabaret Grand with wide eyes. Really?? Majima...likes you back? You shake your head. No, you shouldn’t hope. There weren’t any chances that you and Majima would end up together anyway.
“Ahh, look how fucking in love they are. Why can’t I have that? I’m a handsome looking guy.” Nishitani asked, leaning back on the soft cushions of the seats as the hostess poured him another drink. “It isn’t just about looks, it’s like..it’s like, he may look intimidating but I know he has a good heart. He’s kind and respectful and I admire him a lot..” You ranted before you grab the glass of juice (because Nishitani took all the alcohol, as much as he wanted to see you drunk on broad daylight) and drank it in one go. Nishitani whistles.
“Why don’t you confess to him then? It’s worth a try, right?” The hostess suggested, pouring your glass. “What if he rejects me? I wouldn’t be able to go here again because of the embarrassment!” You cover your face and groan, dragging your hands down while Nishitani laughed at your pitiful state. “Stop laughing! It’s not funny!” “It’s a little funny!”
You look at your phone and seeing the time that’s passed, you curse under your breath and quickly finish your glass, standing up. “Eh? Going already, sweetcheeks?” Nishitani tilted his head. “Yeah, I still have work to do. I’ll be back again tomorrow!” You wave at him and the hostess who waved back as you left.
“Those two need to get a room, I’m getting blue balls just by watching them.” Nishitani groans before he pauses... then he smirks. He had just the idea.
The next day, you went to the VIP and paused, watching Nishitani flirt with a disinterested Majima. As soon as his eye had spotted you, it lit up as he bowed at you, jerking his hands away from a sulking Nishitani. “Hello again, L/N-san. VIP again?” He approached you as you played with your fingers, grinning. “A-ah, y-yeah! Here to support you and everyone else here as always!” You thanked the heavens that your voice didn’t crack as Majima smiled, “You have my utmost gratitude.”
You watched him walk past you, smelling a whiff of his cologne. You immediately sat next to Nishitani and squealed on his shoulder. “Watch the merchandise!” Even with Nishitani’s protest, he let you be.
“Even he smells good!” You shake him as he tried to balance his glass. “Guy’s stubborn as hell. Wouldn’t take my offer.” You stopped moving him around and looked up at him. “What offer?” “Just me and him on a date, no biggie.” He shrugged.
“A-a-a da-date?!?!” You exclaim and hide back when a few people in the VIP glanced at the both of you, only to look away, seeing Nishitani. “Are you serious?!” You whispered to the giggling man.
“Look, we didn’t make the fucking Majima Fanclub for nothing, aight?” The Majima Fanclub consisted of You, Nishitani, and his family who were just there because their boss told them to.
“If you’re not going to ask him then I’m going to take my chance. Finders Keepers.” He stuck his tongue out at you as you looked almost betrayed. Somehow, that made you fired up and more confident. You were going to beat Nishitani and confess to him!
“W-well, I’m going to ask him on a date too!” “Oho, you’re challenging me?” Nishitani leaned forward, a competitive glint in his eyes. “Exactly, Whoever gets accepted first is the winner.” You told him, head up and straight posture. He laughed, “I like your words, darling.”
It had taken you several hours to brainstorm. But you had finally thought of something..
--
“Out of all the things, you pick Letters?? Boooooring.” “Have any ideas, smart guy?” You rolled your eyes at Nishitani who was lazily drawing scribbles on a piece of paper, his glass of alcohol showing a mark on his paper. “Ah, shit- fuck-” He cursed, having broken yet another crayon.
“I told you, you should have picked the markers instead.” You shake your head, laughing a little. The two of you were at one of the most popular Cabarets in Sotenbori yet the two of you were writing and drawing love letters.
“Why did you pick letters anyway?” The man beside you asked, cutting a choppy heart with a piece of paper. “Letters are a lot more genuine than gifts, you know? It’s heartfelt and simple, but means a lot to both you and to the one you’re sending it to.” You smile and Nishitani stifled his laughter, “Are you still in high school? That sounds so fucking cheesy, I love it.” You tried your best to make yours look neat but due to how nervous you were, the handwriting ended up a little messy. “You send it to him!” You exclaim, shoving the folded note. “Like hell I am!” Nishitani moved back and called for a hostess who so happened to be the same hostess from before.
“Is your manager available right now, pretty lady?” “Yes, actually. He’s at the rooftop and taking a break. Is there anything you need from him?” The hostess answered and blinked when the both of you handed your letters to her. “Can you give us a favor and give ‘im these? You can throw Y/N’s in the trash.” “No, you throw his in the trash!” The hostess grinned and shakes her head before taking them. “I’ll give these to him then, I’ll be back.”
As you waited patiently, playing with your glass, you thought if your letter was good enough. Nishitani looked pretty confident and to be honest? You were starting to lose the fire in you. This was a bad idea. You would just make a fool out of yourself to the guy you like!
“Nishitani, I shouldn’t have given away that letter.” You only got a smack on the back of your head as Nishitani groaned, retreating his hand away, “You dumbass. This was your idea. You gotta suck it up and own up to it.” “That’s not a good thing to say to your friend.” You pout as you rub your head.
“Still, I don’t think he’ll even look at mine.” The yakuza sighs and pours himself a glass. “If he does, I’ll beat him up. There, does that make you feel better?” “That would just make me feel worse!” You scold but you had a smile on your face, making Nishitani grin, showing his slightly sharp teeth.
A few minutes later, the hostess came back, and much to your surprise, Majima was with her. He looked almost bored as the hostess pulled him in front the both of you. “I wanted Majima-san to personally give them to you!” Majima sighs and watched you sheepishly apologize before he handed back your letters. “Thanks so much, Majima-san!” The hostess looked delighted as the man quickly walked away to another table, almost flustered.
“He’s gonna love my drawing! I’m gonna keep this forever!” Nishitani cackles before he opened his letter with a grin. You then took a deep breath and opened yours, seeing if he said something too.
To Majima-san,
I know that I’m just a customer but I want to say that I like you and I admire you a lot. I have been for a long time, and only now did I got the courage to express my feelings. At first, I thought it was a simple crush but as time passed by, that feeling never went away. In fact, I think I like you a lot more now. Would you mind going out with me at Osaka King sometime? I completely understand if you don’t like me back and if you don’t want to go out, no matter what happens, I will continue to support you and the staff here in Cabaret Grand as your loyal customer!
“Ah man, he only gave a note about how I sucked at drawing him! That asshole!” Nishitani grumbled, “What about you?” He looked at you only to see that you were practically frozen in your position, staring at the letter with wide eyes. “What?” He blinked and went for a peek. “He said yes..” You gape and cover your mouth, letting him read it as you were too speechless to even do anything.
-L/N Y/N
Sure, I would love to. What does 10 am tomorrow sound like? : ) - Goro Majima
“The fucker actually did it,” Nishitani mumbled and you looked around for Majima, seeing that he was still in the VIP room. Like he had known you were looking for him, he turned around and the two of you made eye contact. You beamed at him and he smiled, chuckling a bit before he went on his way. You were breathless, holding your cheeks together with bright eyes and a lovestruck smile.
That was a date.

A Mom, A Grandchild, and A Wife For the New Year
A Mom, A Grandchild, and A Wife For the New Year
A/N: So, have you seen HiBiKi StYle #448 with AiAi and Maho-nee doing the cooking relay? It’s one of the most chaotic things I’ve ever enjoyed xD. There’s a subbed version on YouTube haha. This gave me an idea for a fic, but I’ll probs be mostly basing it off the first half. Maho-nee is better at cooking than Aiai it seems, but character-wise, I feel like Claudine cooks better than Maya so…
I was supposed to release this on time for New Year’s, but ended up frustrated and reading other fics instead, so my sincerest apologies.
Fudge… this was not supposed to be this long. I told myself it would only be 1k-3k words, but hoho, no. 7-frikkin-thousand words. Stupid Khaz. Haaa…
Enjoy?
~Shintori Khazumi
“Umm…”
“So…”
“What exactly-“
“-Do we do with… that.”
“Junna-chan! Don’t call her “that”! She’s a child! A person!” Nana scolded her partner, also very perplexed with the situation right before their eyes.
“Well, she wasn’t a child five minutes ago?!” Junna replied with the same amount of exasperation in her voice.
“Then she’s a person! A human. Don’t call her… “that”.” Nana replied, gesturing towards the little girl seated on the living room carpet, looking to seven pairs of eyes staring back that held various emotions ranging from stressed, perplexed and confused, curious, excited, and just plain weirded out.
“Well, she’s certainly been a handful these past few minutes.” Junna sighed, looking around the living room area for some kind of toy to hand to the child to distract her, and keep her in place, behaved, while the rest of them searched for a way to fix this situation.
“Come on, Jun-Jun! She’s pretty cute, if you think about it.” Karen exclaimed, taking a step closer and reaching her hand out for the child to take. “See?”
“She’s quite pretty too. Though she always has been.” Mahiru murmured, taking her spot beside Karen and inwardly squealing as the little girl beamed at her after she petted her hair. “So adorable.”
“She seems kinda smart too.” Futaba pitched in after seeing how the person had acted- despite the various mishaps they indirectly caused- in this situation, trying to walk about and nearly smashing her face into the table, or trying to hand Nana a book she was reaching for when she held the girl in her lap, but almost dropping it on the larger girl’s foot.
“Well, sure. She’s all of those things.” Kaoruko rolled her eyes. “After all, she’s Also Tendou Maya.”
No one could refute the statement, seven heads bobbing in agreement.
“So?” Futaba looked to everyone in curiosity.
“So, what?” Junna replied.
“HAHHAHAHA, Mahiru-chan, she said so what, she just said ‘so what?’” Karen hollered, Junna’s statement making it seem like she didn’t care.
“Karen-chan… I don’t think you’re supposed to laugh at that in this situation…”
Ignoring the tiny deviance, Futaba continued. “How are we supposed to tell Kuroko about this?”
“…”
“Ah.”
Was the girls’ collective reaction. They hadn’t thought about that until now. Claudine was currently out of the dorm to do some shopping as she had volunteered to prepare dinner for tonight to celebrate the coming new year as no one from their little group had decided to go home for the holidays, now that they were in their third and final year. She claimed she had always cooked for her parents each time she went home so it was a habit she wanted to continue, even away from home.
Of course, everyone was more than willing to allow her to do so, curious as to the French’s cooking. Nana and Mahiru, along with Junna had offered helping hands to which Claudine accepted should she need them eventually. But for the shopping process, she’d rather do it on her own as she had yet to decide on what she’d like to make and did not want to inconvenience them with hopping from shop-to-shop undecided for hours on end.
They didn’t mind at all, but after some reassurance from the former child actress, they let her be, awaiting her patiently in the dorm with nothing better to do as school had been closed for the holidays.
Maya had begged- yes, begged- Claudine to allow her to come, but she was only met with a flick to the forehead and a firm, ‘No’. And even Maya knew never to push it when Claudine was that determined. Begrudgingly, she watched the love of her life walk away, taking the top star’s heart and soul with he-
“Don’t be so dramatic while I’m away, do you hear me?” Claudine had warned, familiar with how Maya’s thought process worked. She gave Maya a kiss on the forehead to temporarily satiate her clinginess. “I’ll be back before you know it.”
With that, Saijou Claudine had left for her little shopping trip. And now, three uneventful hours had gone by.
Or well, the girls hoped it had just been that.
As they were lounging in the dorm’s common room, Maya suddenly started feeling sick. She had crouched down, curling into a ball on the sofa. Worried, Nana approached her and put a hand on her forehead to check her temperature, wincing at the terrible heat that radiated off the poor girl as she pulled back immediately, feeling like she’d get burned.
Turning to the other inhabitants of the room, she gave separate instructions such as telling Hikari and Karen where to get the cooling pads and icepacks, respectively; she told Futaba and Kaoruko to grab Maya’s blanket and pillows, as well as some spare clothes should the girl feel cold later on due to the extreme and sudden fever. Junna had grabbed Mahiru to accompany her to the school clinic to find the nurse, and maybe get some medicine. If she wasn’t there- understandable as they had been told that the school would be closed for the holidays- then they would have to find the nearest pharmacy for some over-the-counter fever medicine.
“Tendou-san!” Karen was the first to accomplish her task, the icepack retrieved from the fridge just a few steps away. Her squeak made everyone returning to the room even more cautious now.
“What’s wrong?” Junna queried, now donning her coat and boots, coming from her room.
“She’s … shrinking…”
“You mean shaking, BaKaren?” Hikari muttered, brows furrowed in confusion.
“No…” Nana’s voice wavered, unsure at what she and Karen were seeing, and how to tell the rest just what it was that they were seeing. “She’s literally… shrinking.”
“…”
“Well damn, if I’ll be. So it’s possible for her to be cute, after all.”
“Kaoruko!”
//-//-//-//-//
“So ya think keeping her in our room is goin’ ta work? That’s some sloppy judgment coming from you, Junna-han.”
“You have the larger room between us, so if she doesn’t turn back soon, you have enough space for her to sleep.” The bespectacled girl pointed out. “Saijou-san possibly has the largest room, but that defeats the purpose of keeping this issue a secret from her, right?”
“Remind me why we’re keeping this a secret from her, though? Wouldn’t it be better to just tell her?” Futaba sighed.
“Who wants to do the honors and tell someone as fiery and protective as Saijou-san that her girlfriend is a small child, and possibly cause even more panic and distress?”
“…”
“But Karen and them have more space, don’t they?” Futaba brought their attention back to the first topic, backing Kaoruko up, really not wanting to babysit two children.
“The enormous amounts of trust I have in Mahiru is negated by equal amounts of doubt I have in her roommates when it comes to childcare and many other matters.” Junna stated, pushing her glasses up.
“Hey!”
“You got a point.” Futaba sighed, acquiescing.
“Futaba-han!”
“I can at least trust Hayanagi-san to behave when she wants to.”
“That’s bein’ a little mean, don’t ya think?”
“Now, now~” Nana, ever the peacemaker, calmed everyone down.
“Fine. But we’re takin’ turns watchin’ the little brat. I can’t have her ruining my routine.”
“Your routine is mostly just you fucking around, though.”
“Futaba-han!”
“Futaba-chan!!!” Mahiru cried, not having enough hands to cover both Hikari’s and Karen’s ears.
“Nana… were you trying to cover my ears too?”
“…”
“Na!”
The tiny voice stole everyone’s attention.
“What…”
“Na! Na!” The little brown bundle giggled, looking up at the blonde, opening up her arms, asking to be carried. The tallest of the bunch squealed in delight, scooping up the small child, spinning her about.
“I’m so happy, Maya-chan!”
“AWwwww, that’s so cute!! And dang it Banana, why are you her first word!! I wanted to be it!”
“I think ‘Karen’ is a little hard for a toddler to say as a first word, Karen-chan.” Mahiru responded, patting the dejected girl’s head.
However, Aijo Karen was not one to be discouraged. “I’ll be her second word then!”
“Karen-chan…”
“Come on, Tendou-san. Say it with me. Ka-ren. Ka-ren.”
“Kawuko!”
“Nooooon!!!” Karen cried in despair.
“Oho~” Futaba clapped, impressed. “You can’t tell me that that don’t make you happy, Kaoruko.” She teased the bluenette who simply turned away blushing.
“I thought my name was difficult… isn’t Kaoruko-chan’s name harder?”
“Just move on, Karen.” Hikari sighed, rubbing the said girl’s back in comfort. “After all, I’m gonna have her say my name before yours.”
“Hikari-chan!” Mahiru cried.
“How old is this kid anyway?” Futaba asked, shifting the conversation to a new topic.
“Beats me.” Junna shrugged. “Nana, can you ask her?”
“Sure~” Nana replied, still playing with Maya, tossing her up in the air slightly from time to time, the child very pleased, apparent with how she laughed unabashed. “Ne, Maya-chan.”
“Na?”
“Mhm, Nana-oneechan wants to ask you something. If you can understand me, I hope…” She chuckled nervously, wide eyes giving her their full attention. “How old are you?”
It seems the little brunette did, in fact, understand as she held up two fingers.
“Wow, that’s younger than I expected.” Junna muttered, stroking her chin in thought. “Maybe I should have Mahiru watch over her, after all. It’s a little too worrying if someone without enough experience handles a child as small as her.”
“Nn?! …b-but we already decided on the arrangements, didn’t we?” Kaoruko suddenly interjected, surprising everyone.
“Oh~? What do we have here~?, Kaoruko, did you actually get attached to the idea of taking care of the kid, just now?” Futaba’s teasing returned, poking at her roommate’s side.
“N-not at all? I just thought that for convenience sake, we shouldn’t complicate our original plans.”
“Whatever you say.”
While everyone else switched between watching the pair bicker, and Nana playing with a tiny Tendou Maya, they failed to remember just why they were planning on hiding the child- or better yet, from whom they were hiding her… until the person in question’s voice through them into another state of hushed panic.
“I’m back!” This voice belonged to none other than the 99th class’ second seat, Saijou Claudine. Tendou Maya’s better half, as she would put it. “Ara? Where is everyone? Nana? Junna?” She called.
“Ah crap. Saijou-san is back.” Junna face-palmed, feeling her stress build up.
“Eeehhh, wha-what do we do?!”
“HIDE THE KID.”
“Calm down, Karen-chan, Hikari-chan. You too Mahiru-chan. Your grip is gonna kill Hikari- chan’s hand.” Nana worried at that last bit, seeing the poor London girl’s hand color a deathly pale. “Really, Mahiru-chan, you should let go right now.”
Junna groaned. She had wanted to go over this plan better. Guess they had no choice.
“Here’s what’s going to happen.” She called for everyone’s attention. “Nana, Mahiru and I will distract Saijou-san by helping her with dinner preparations as we originally planned, earlier. We will try our best to not get her to look for Maya, or go to her room, and we’ll come up with an excuse.”
Heads nodded in understanding.
“The rest of you, watch the kid.” Junna gave the four a hard stare as the “mom friends” of the group filed out of the room one-by-one. “If you somehow meet with Saijou if you go out of this room, and she asks anything regarding Tendou-san, just say you don’t know or something.” And with that, the door was shut, the quartet to their own devices… oh and the baby, too.
…
“So… what now?”
//-//-//-//-//
True to her word, Junna and her companions were able to keep Claudine at bay, the girls in FutaKao’s room remaining undisturbed for the most part as they played with Maya for over an hour.
All had been going well, so far, but it seemed as though they had run out of games to play and the child and Karen alike were beginning to get bored.
This was dangerous.
Futaba preferred that no one venture out for the sake of ‘fun’.
“HUH?!” Her partner’s distressed cry grabbed her attention.
“Kaoruko?”
“These damn parents, at this particular time?” She muttered. “Futaba-han, I need you to come with me to the gate to pick up some stuff. My parents said I must retrieve it by myself since I chose to not go home, therefore no servant is going to be allowed to help me during my… independence, they claim.” Despite the clear reasons, Futaba remained seated.
“Why can’t you go by yourself? Someone needs to watch these kids.”
Kaoruko rolled her eyes. “Even I know how bad it could get to leave these two with a very small child, but if I could do this by myself, I wouldn’t even ask.” Futaba didn’t seem convinced. “It’ll take us five minutes. We grab the items, then we come back to find these three conked out and asleep, yeah? Now come on.”
There was clearly no room for the redhead to argue as she was dragged out the door by a rushing Kaoruko.
Hikari and Karen shared a look, shrugged, then returned to playing with Maya.
Or tried.
The child didn’t seem to like their current toys right now, throwing them about the room with a frown, and getting increasingly louder in her complaining cries.
“What do we do, Hikari-chan?” Karen turned to her best friend for help, but to no avail. “Ah!” She snapped. “I know! I think I have a toy in our room that would get her to quiet down! Let’s go get it!” Karen tugged at Hikari’s sleeve, pulling her onto her feet.
“Do we take her?” Hikari asked monotonously, pointing at the child- and… did she get… a little bigger? And had she been wearing that outfit earlier? Maybe Karen was just imagining things.
“No, we might get spotted walking with her.” She shook her head. “We’ll just run for our room then come back!”
Hikari didn’t question it, only suggesting that they lock the door as they left, Karen agreeing it was for the best.
With that, they left the child alone in the locked room with a wave as she just blinked back at them, staring at the closing door. The two bounded down the hallway, attempting to speedily retrieve the needed items before little Maya could get into any unsupervised trouble.
It barely took them three minutes to retrieve as many child-entertaining games and toys as they could find. As they walked up carefully to the door of Futaba and Kaoruko’s shared room, they met up with the said girls carrying semi-large boxes.
But that wasn’t important.
If she could do so without drawing attention to their little group, the young heiress would have screeched an ear-splitting scolding towards the two. Instead, she had to settle for a harsh series of whispers. “I thought we told you to watch her, not leave her alone!”
“B-but…” Karen whimpered. “She was starting to get really loud, and-and, we locked the door when we left, anyway.”
“you WHAT?! We don’t have keys on us!!!”
“…oh, dang.”
Futaba, equally frustrated, tried the doorknob anyway, brows raising high as it opened with little resistance. “Huh? I thought you said you locked it?”
“Eh?? But we did! Right, Hikari-chan?”
Hikari wordlessly nodded, brows now furrowed.
“No… no… please, don’t tell me…” Everyone burst into the room, eyes darting about so fast. Futaba and Karen had begun to look everywhere, beneath the bed, inside the locker. Kaoruko and Hikari decided to traverse the halls, hoping they’d catch sight of a little head of brown hair, to no luck.
What they did catch, however, was the confused gazes of Nana, Junna, and Mahiru as they were making their way back to the room, Claudine telling them that they had helped her enough and she could take it from there. They had reluctantly agreed to leave, but they supposed Claudine would now be too occupied to even think to look for Maya.
So what was going on, right now?
“Guys?”
“Oh no. It’s Junna.” Hikari drawled, panicking inside, but not letting it show.
“Hikari-chan? Weren’t you supposed to be watching…” Mahiru trailed off as a sniffling, teary Karen exited the room, running into her arms. “Karen-chan?!”
“…gonee!”
“Huh?”
“She’s gone! Tendou-san!”
“WHHAAATTTT-“
Before Junna could give everyone an earful, Nana dispatched all the girls around the dorm that wasn’t close to where Claudine was to avoid drawing her suspicion, seeing the girls move about in search of something. Rooms, other halls, bathrooms, spare practice rooms, the storage. They were to comb through every nook and cranny for Tendou Maya. There was no need to check the Kitchen as the trio who had assisted Claudine had just come from there and could confirm that the French was the only person present there and they had encountered no tiny top star on their way back to the room.
And so began the great ‘Tendou Maya’ hunt.
//-//-//-//-//
Claudine hummed a tune from their latest play, setting down the last of her prepared ingredients on the counter next to the stove. Mahiru, Junna and Nana had been of great help and they had finished preparing the desserts for later first to be able to set it aside in the fridge. All Claudine had left to do was to actually cook the meal.
“Where’s that large pan that I need…” Searching through the cupboards, she found exactly what she needed, placing the heavy pan on the stove and turning it on to start heating. Continuing her previous humming, Claudine suddenly jumped at the feel of something pulling on her pant leg.
What in the…
She was greeted by wide, curious violet eyes, blinking up at her innocently.
“Um…” There was something oddly familiar about this child currently standing beside Claudine. She just couldn’t put a finger to it. She didn’t look any older than the age of three or four, but she didn’t seem to have any guardian accompanying her either.
“Hi!” The lass greeted, beaming brightly at Claudine. The latter couldn’t help but smile back. She loved children, after all. And she secretly admitted to herself that this one, in particular, was absolutely adorable.
“Why, hello there.” Bending down to the little girl’s level, said girl staring up at her with large lilac eyes, while clinging to the hem of her apron, Claudine greeted back. “Bonjour~”.
The different language seemed to throw the child off, and Claudine could almost see the little cogs spinning in her head. “B-Bon… Bonzoo? Bonzhoo? Bonju?”
Claudine laughed airily, patting the brunette’s head tenderly. “Close enough. Bonjour.”
The child simply nodded this time, relenting on learning this strange word for now.
Claudine temporarily turned the stove off before turning back to her little companion, hands on her hips as she scrutinized the young girl’s features. “You really do look so terribly familiar.” With gorgeous violet eyes, lustrous chocolate hair pulled back in a ribbon-
Something clicked. “Ah! Are you, by chance, a relative of that insufferable Tendou Maya? You’re much cuter than she is, though.” Turning to the other girl, Claudine was surprised to see her pout despite the compliment.
“But I’m Maya! This. Is. Tendou Maya! I’m the cutest!”
Now, this confused Claudine. Was she a big fan of that infuriating woman? “Not only are you the spitting image of her, you even talk like her. I swear she is a bad influence.” Claudine sighed. “So, do I call you Maya?”
She was met with enthusiastic nodding, and she could only giggle at the sheer adorableness of it all.
“Alright, then. Maya.” Straightening up and looking about the room, hoping for some guardian to walk in, or perhaps her Maya, claiming the child as her secret relative, Claudine found no one, eyes trailing to the clock on the wall warning her that her time to prepare dinner was growing ever short.
She sighed again. Guessing that she should get a move on, she tried to point to the couch with a smile, nonverbally telling the kid to take a seat and wait there. About to return to her previous task of cooking, Claudine almost missed the way those large purple eyes stared at her in wait, as if asking a question. It made the blonde realize very quickly.
“Oh! Where are my manners.” She crouched down, eye-to-eye with the child, offering her hand out for a shake. “My name is Claudine”
She saw cute little brows furrow, wrinkles forming in the “Maya’s” forehead. Easing them away by massaging the area gently with her thumb, Claudine laughed as the child began to test her name out. “Ku-, Ko- Kro… hrnnghh” The child tried in vain.
Claudine laughed lightly.
“Kuu-chan!”
“Eh-“
“Kuu-chan!!!” It seemed as though the child had given up on trying to pronounce her name right, and the little moniker she had come up with made Claudine feel the tiniest bit shy.
“Now, now. Not that I don’t like that nickname you’ve come up with somehow… The real Tendou Maya would never give up, now would she?” She teased, feeling somewhat satisfied at the blush that flooded the little girl’s face. “But I guess, you could continue to call me that, if you so wish. Still, I do hope you will someday be able to pronounce my name properly.” Claudine hadn’t the slightest idea why she wanted such a thing, even if it was still later in the future, but she felt compelled to do so.
The child nodded, beaming at her brightly once more as she hugged Claudine’s leg.
“Okay, I really need to be getting back to my work. So, if you’d just allow me to…” Gently hoisting the girl up, causing a fit of the cutest giggles Claudine had ever heard in her life, she placed her on a stool in the kitchen where she could easily turn to check on the girl every once-in-a-while. “There we go.”
“Kuu-chan?”
“Please behave yourself now while waiting for your mommy, or daddy, or… someone. Onee-chan needs to get back to cooking so that everyone can have a nice, yummy dinner. Maybe you could even join us. So, would it be fine for you to sit and wait for me? If you want to play, we can do so once I’ve finished this.” Satisfied with the nod she was given as a reply, Claudine patted the girl’s head once more for good measure. She then turned on the stove and continued her work, pouring in her oil and mixing in her ingredients.
A moment later, she realized that she needed a spice from the cupboard. Quickly going to fetch it, she was surprised as little Maya clung to her waist, arms wrapped around her, nuzzling into her stomach.
“Kuu-chan! Play with me!”
“Maya, now didn’t we agree that you would behave while I finished my task?”
The girl pouted, but released Claudine nonetheless.
“Thank you.”
And she was back to cooking. Cooking with a heavy pan reminded the French woman of how proud she was of her strength, tossing the mixture of ingredients inside with ease. For just a moment, she looked back to check on Maya, screaming horrified in just a second as she spotted the girl reaching for a knife, tiptoeing by the edge of counter, head not even reaching the height of the countertop. If she left this to go on, the knife could fall wrongly and hit her if she reached it. Claudine rushed forward, moving the sharp knife away, far out of the child’s reach.
Panting as she settled the girl back in her stool, fixing her with a very stern look that commanded, ‘stay’, Claudine got back to her food, hoping it wasn’t burning or anything. “Is this what it feels like to be a mother? To have kids?” She groaned.
Hearing shuffling come from behind her, she whipped her head about, catching the guilty look flash across the child’s face as she attempted to climb off the stool again.
“Please stay, okay? I’ll play with you all you want after.” She sighed, once more, placing the girl on the stool. “I know you’re bored, but I really cannot leave you to wander about on your own without supervision. You might get lost or hurt, and being the one to have been with you last, I really will be responsible. I’d like to actually ‘be responsible’. Please?”
The little girl pouted but nodded her understanding. Claudine felt relieved. Until-
“Kiss?”
“Wha-“
“If Kuu-chan gives a kiss, Maya will stay!” Blushing, but considering her options, Claudine relented.
“Fine.”
“Wai~!”
Finally feeling as though her struggle with childcare was over, Claudine finally got back to work, not hearing any noises that indicated trouble, breathing in her relief.
“Thank God.”
Finally finishing her first dish, she set it aside, turning to grab the ingredients for the second… dish…
Where was the child?
And who was this elderly woman now seated in her place?!
“My, my, ma Claudine, you look wonderful, cooking for me, shining in all your youth.”
She would have asked who the hell this lady was, but by the way she was addressed, she could only assume that it was, “M-Maya?”.
“Ah~ Has time frozen your beauty in place? Even the universe can’t help but admire such a flower, unwilling to let you go.” The lady lamented. “And yet here, I shrivel away, though not without all my passion blooming still in my heart.”
“You’re… Maya… right?”
“Who else would I be?”
And yes, who else would she be, Claudine agreed. Those stunning purple eyes, the particular shade of brown in the colored streaks of hair still present amongst the white, Yes. This was Tendou Maya, indeed
Honestly, Claudine surprised herself with how well she was taking all this. She would have spent more time wracking her brains over this crazy phenomenon, but then the clock caught her attention and made her realize that she had been in crazier situations than this. This should not be all that unbelievable. She had been through worse with Maya. So long as the girl still existed…
Claudine could prioritize finishing her dinner preparations.
Maya would surely turn back to normal soon.
Right?
Therefore…
“Maya. I implore you.”
“Ask anything, my love, and I shall-“
“Please behave yourself so I can finish what I have to and find everyone so we can figure out how to turn you back.”
“Of course, deary~.”
“I mean it.”
“…o-of course… dear.”
“Maya?”
“Yes.”
“Good.”
Claudine got started on her next dish, somehow thankful that Maya actually seemed to be cooperating. Was it her current age that made her less energetic? Maya was quiet, behaved. At least from what Claudine was hearing, which was nothing but silence, she hoped the silence meant Maya was just sitting, resting and not… dead or anything like that. Right? …right?!
Whipping her head about, Claudine caught the elderly woman walking about in some random direction, looking a bit older than she did earlier and… a whole lot blinder it seemed, as she hit her face against the wall.
What did I just say about behaving…
“Oi, grandma. I told you to stay put.” Claudine groaned in exasperation, moving to retrieve Maya. “Now I feel like those children or grandchildren made to take care of their elderly family.”
“Who… are you?”
“HA?”
“I’m starting to feel starved…”
“Don’t just go jumping from one topic to another, Tendou Maya…”
“What did you say?” So this granny was deaf too.
“Snacks, snacks… something soft enough for her teeth… I don’t want them to break…” Considerate as ever, Claudine started searching about for something to hand to this annoying woman. Spotting something on the counter, she picked it up, examining it for a second. “I guess tofu will have to do.”
With a spoon, she scooped up a portion and brought it to the old woman’s mouth. Upon feeling the familiar metal, her mouth opened, taking in the food. “Ara, Tofu~”
“Wow… that was fast. You knew right away.”
“It’s delicious.”
“Well, I’m glad.”
“But it would be better with Soy Sauce.”
“You are insatiable…”
“Add soy sauce!”
“Grandma, you’re so noisy.”
And Claudine’s woes continued.
//-//-//-//-//
“So? Did you have any plans of revealing this to me? At any point in time?”
“Sorry… Kuro-chan. We thought you’d get angry…”
Seven people now sat in seiza in their living room, one of them being an adult Tendou Maya, it seemed, possibly in her late twenties. She had shifted through ages at least thrice since meeting up with Claudine. The rest of the girls had given up on searching after two hours or so, and upon hearing Maya’s familiar voice conversing with Claudine from the kitchen, they all bolted, panting as they stood before the pair, their demeanors giving everything away- that they had been aware of this from the start.
“I am angry.”
“Urgh…”
“And if I would’ve been angry anyway, then why didn’t you all just tell me from the start?” Claudine frowned even deeper, if that was possible. “I thought we were all comrades here, fighting together. Shouldn’t this be one of the things we try to figure out as a team?”
“We’re… sorry…” Guiltily, the rest of the stage girls hung their head in apology. It still wasn’t enough for Claudine, however. She wanted an explanation.
“Did no one think of telling me?” With everyone else avoiding her gaze, except Maya who looked strangely happy to be scolded, she turned to the only one standing, busy taking way too many photos of the girls. Why did Claudine feel stress build up y just looking at her? “Nana?”
“It seemed fun.”
“Nana/Nana-chan?!”
Of course, it was. Claudine sighed- before her stomach growled, leading her to blush a lovely shade of red. Eight heads turned to her, some amused, some sheepishly concerned.
“Ah, it’s already this late.” Junna exclaimed, the clock reading seven-pm-sharp.
“No wonder Kuro-chan got hungry~”
“W-W-Well, whatever. Let’s have dinner then sort this… thing out.” The French tried to cover up her embarrassment, walking over to the food she had prepared, getting ready to take it to the dorm’s veranda where tables had been set up earlier by Junna, Nana and Mahiru. They were planning to eat outside and see if they could enjoy some fireworks displays that were sure to come soon from neighboring areas, and could be seen from where they were. “We can’t solve Tendou Maya’s problem on empty stomachs.”
Laughing in relief, the girls soon got up one by one, helping out with the set-up, ready to at least enjoy the end of the year, regardless of how wacky it turned out to be.
//-//-//-//-//
After all the food had been consumed, and Maya had shifted through her age one more time, now taking the appearance of an eight-year-old child, with no leads, and darkness shrouding them, they decided to put off their investigation until tomorrow. It would be safer then too.
For now, they’d enjoy the end to their year as a group of comrades, friends, and family.
To everyone’s excitement, Kaoruko and Futaba had brought out two fairly large boxes, the ones they had fetched earlier from Kaoruko’s family. It seemed as though they were actually quite pleased to hear that their daughter had such wonderful friends who she actually wanted to spend a time as special as New Year’s with. In their happiness, they had bought her so many fireworks. Sparklers, little crackers, fountains, even the really beautiful ones that burst in the sky.
Nana, Junna, and Futaba took charge of setting those up safely in the yard, while Mahiru’s team fetched buckets of water for safety reasons.
As they played under the stars with their multi-colored lights flashing about, Claudine took the entire scene in before her. In spite of all the troubles, mishaps, fights, and trials they had gone through this past year, and even the years before in Seishou, Claudine would never trade the bonds of companionship she had built with her friends for anything in the world.
Running through their supply of fireworks, as well as energy, everyone proceeded to lay down on the blanketed lounge chairs that Nana had had the foresight of setting up, predicting that everyone would want to stay outside in each other’s presence for a little while longer while waiting for one grand fireworks show that had been advertised the past few days in the news.
They knew they’d be able to spot it from where they were in the yard, so they eagerly anticipated it, the television that had been turned on in the living room had some host of some show leading off a countdown.
“Kuu-chan?”
The little girl called for her attention, tugging at the hem of her sweater, those Violet eyes searching Claudine’s very soul. She hummed in response, petting the girl’s head lovingly.
“Still not going to give up on that nickname?”
“Will you stay with me forever?”
The sudden question and disregard of her playful comment had her surprised, but the contents of the question had her heart stop for just a second.
“W-will you leave me then?”
Her lack of response must have worried the girl. Had she been frozen for long?
“W-well, that is…” If she were talking to… her Maya- oh who was she kidding?! No matter the age or appearance or… whatever, this was for a fact her. Maya. Still. If this were the normal Maya, she would have responded differently. How should she tell this child the heartfelt truth while remaining in reality without crushing her hopes and dreams?
“Kuu-“
No, it was because it was her Maya regardless of the factors, that she could and would answer the way she believed was most fitting.
“Yes.”
“E-eh?” Maya looked like she would just cry right then and there. Claudine pinched her cheek lovingly before explaining.
“I cannot guarantee that I will always be by your side physically. There will be moments in life where we will have to be apart. And physical separation may be one way, but we aren’t perfect people, did you know that? Sometimes, our hearts may drift due to various circumstances.”
“I… I don’t like that…” Eight-year-old Maya sulked. Claudine laughed, before opening her hand palm up, asking the child to place hers in the larger hand.
“I know, I don’t either.” Claudine placed a chaste kiss on the back of Maya’s hand, successfully pulling a blush out of her. “And that’s exactly why I shall strive my hardest to stay. I will try my best to remain by your side for as long as I can.” She smiled that disarming, charming smile of hers. “After all, isn’t giving my all in everything I do my strongest point? And if there come times when I cannot be near you physically, then…”
“Claudine?” She’d be lying if hearing her name from Maya plain as that didn’t make her feel immense amounts of joy and satisfaction.
“I’ll just have to entrust you to keep my heart for me until I come to retrieve it. Oui?”
She watched the girl nod, no words coming out of her mouth. Could Claudine count this as a win against the insufferable woman? Maybe it wasn’t fair to battle it out against a child, though.
“How about we join the rest in the countdown?” Claudine asked, as she guided the girl to the many lawn chairs on the veranda, taking a seat on one and patting the space in front of her so that Maya could sit between her legs.
The little girl obliged, and they heard the TV slowly reaching the tens in the countdown.
[“Twelve, eleven… Ten…”]
“Nine.” Hikari murmured so soft with a smile, taking Mahiru and Karen’s hands as she stood between them.
“Eight~” Nana smiled, chancing a glance at a Junna sporting a rare child-like excitement.
“Seven.” Kaoruko whispered in a moment of seriousness, staring with great admiration at Futaba’s back that seemed so large, despite the girl in question being quite small.
“Six.” As if she felt that gaze, Futaba turned with back with a charming smile, something different, but so so warm in her eyes directed at Kaoruko.
“Five.” Mahiru murmured, looking to the two people she loved most in the world, surprised that they were already staring her way, telling her that they would always watch over her.
“Four!” Karen jumps excitedly, pulling Mahiru and Hikari into a tight hug, before kissing them both on the cheeks.
“Three…” Junna whispered, eyes sparkling, nothing else but the warmth of Nana’s hand keeping her rooted to the reality of the world as she felt herself hypnotized by the suddenly very silent and vast night sky, not a single firework present… yet.
“Two!” A small Maya in Claudine’s lap cheered, leaning back against the blonde woman’s front.
Claudine had hoped she could share this special moment with the one she cherished above all things. Well, she was, but… she didn’t think it would be… like this. Still. Maya was Maya, and Claudine would love her and stay with her for all time.
“One.”
The lights were splendid, brighter and more passionate than many of their stages. It ignited hope and starlight in the girls, and they watched on in awe, greetings of Happy New Year along with hugs and kisses being thrown around.
“Happy New Year, Ma Maya.” Claudine whispered, hugging the small bundle in front of her, wrapping her arms around the small Maya, heart just a little heavy. “I love you.”
In her silent pain, she had failed to take notice of the being in her arms taking on a glow, and slowly growing, transforming unnoticed by everyone entranced by the lights in the heavens.
“My, what a heartfelt confession. It certainly made my own heart flutter… Saijou-san.”
She could not lift her head up any faster, heart beating miles upon miles per hour, eyes wide as she drank in the familiar, but very missed sight of Maya. Tendou Maya. Her Maya… oh beautiful, lovely, sweet, incredibly infuriating Maya.
Standing up, turning around, and then getting down on one knee by Claudine’s side, Maya returned the gesture of placing her lips softly against Claudine’s fair hand, a confession slipping out so smoothly, so naturally from her lips.
“I love you with everything that I am, as well, Ma Claudine.”
…
Suddenly, Maya was looking very panicked, and Claudine would have asked why if the girl hadn’t reached forward, wiping every tear that slipped from her eyes.
“Did it move you that deeply, my darling Claudine?” She joked, though her anxiety was very clear in her voice. “I’m sorry, I did not mean to upset you. Please… please, if you feel hurt, tell me where and I’ll-“
Maya was very quickly squeezed into a breath-taking hug, Claudine staining Maya’s sweater in her relieved tears.
“You utter idiot! Do you know how worried I actually was if you wouldn’t turn back to normal?!”
“Well, you know how Cinderella’s little spell goes; as the clock strikes midnight, the magic wears off and-“
“Yeah, yeah, I get it, I understand.” Claudine rolled her eyes.
“Oh, but you don’t. Let me finish, my dear Claudine.” Maya grinned. “Once the magic wears off, all she is left with is a normal girl, in normal dress, with nothing but her bare and honest heart as the proof that she is the one the Prince fell in love with.”
Maya turned Claudine’s hand over, kissing her palm, then up to her wrist.
“Isn’t it the same for you, ma Claudine?”
“Y-you… I…”
“As Cinderella left her Prince for but a moment, they both strived to be together again, and to stay together forever. They made such a beautiful promise, as well. In the form of lifetime vows.” There was that familiar cheeky glint in Maya’s eyes, but Claudine couldn’t find it in her to be annoyed. “And you’ve given me your vow, so how about I give you mine?”
“What…”
“Saijou Claudine. I will forever devote my soul and my love to you. And I may not always be with you in body, and sometimes in mind… but my heart will always be yours.” She laughed, adding an afterthought. “And I might prefer it if you never returned it at all. I believe you are the safest person to keep it.”
“M-mechante va!”
“EEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!!” Karen’s screams cut through the air, and through their little moment. “It’s Tendou-san!!! She’s… She’s NORMAL!” She screamed, waving her hand, pointing a finger at Maya, directing everyone’s attention to the girl at the end of it.
“Tendo-san!!!”
“Heya, Maya-chan~! We were actually beginning to worry.”
“T-Tendou-san is… she’s okay now, right? She’s normal again, right?” Karen shifted her gaze around the circle of friends, seeking confirmation that her eyes were not playing tricks on her.
“I’m afraid I never have been, Aijo-san.”
“EH? O-oh no, is something still wrong?”
“On the contrary, everything is perfect! I am simply back to my usual amazing self.”
“…”
“And annoying self, it seems.” Claudine quipped with a faux disheartened sigh, shaking her head. “You really are the most infuriating woman in the world.”
“You love it.” Maya quickly replied.
“I do.” Claudine responded just as quick, so calmly, so naturally that it threw everyone, especially Maya off.
“I… I see.”
“What happened though? Why did that happen?” Junna, ever the curious mind, asked the important question.
Maya hummed, thinking for a moment, before smiling a mysterious smile.
“Let’s just say that’s the magic of a new year.”
With everyone sure that Maya was now okay and back to her usual self, they all began the clean up before splitting off into their respective rooms, saying their good nights and welcoming the much-needed respite.
Claudine had dragged Maya to her room, very deprived of Maya’s usual annoyingness and affection that she would never admit she wanted.
As they lay on her large bed, in their night gowns, warm under the covers and entangled in each other’s arms, Maya planting kisses on the crown of Claudine’s head, she heard the smallest whisper, almost missing it.
“…I missed you.”
The brunette smiled, pulling away for a moment, and reaching into the pocket of her nightgown, pulling out a small box.
“Claudine.”
“M-Maya?”
“We are but young souls who’ve had the pleasure of crossing one another’s paths, and a lifetime vow involving marriage, though I’d certainly want it now, is jumping the gun, even for someone like me, I suppose… but for now…” Opening the case, she revealed a heart, one side black, and the other white. Separating the pieces, she had both of them sit up on the bed, before she moved to sit behind Claudine, both of them conveniently facing the direction of the room’s large mirror.
Claudine watched as Maya’s hands moved to take the ivory piece, gently guiding the thin, golden chain of the necklace around Claudine’s neck and clicking it in place, before moving her hair to one side and kissing the bare part of the blonde’s shoulder.
She remained there for a moment, before trailing upwards, leaving small nips and kisses along Claudine’s shoulder and neck, nuzzling from time to time, taking in her lovely, flowery scent, thoroughly embarrassing the girl.
“Okay, okay! That’s enough!” Claudine screeched, moving away, grabbing at the case Maya had left on the bed and retrieving the ebony-colored half of the heart, transferring her seat behind Maya. “Your turn.”
“Of course.” Maya chuckled, behaving herself for once. She stared at Claudine through the reflection on the mirror, smiling as she saw the blonde’s hands fumble momentarily with the jewelry, before shakily bringing it about her neck. “Nervous?”
“Shut up.”
“I love you.” Maya grinned at the sight of Claudine’s blush deepening as she snapped the ends of the chain together, before leaving a secret kiss in the top star’s hair. “I will gladly take that as an ‘I love you too’.
“Do you not know what it means to be quiet?”
“But of course, I do.”
“Then-“
“I just choose to annoy you instead.”
“You-you!!”
“I will marry you.”
Claudine choked.
Maya turned around to face the girl, taking two warm hands in hers, caressing them gently, each knuckle, both palms, each finger, lingering slightly on Claudine’s left ring finger.
“One day, I will. I swear.”
“…”
“So when that day comes, I won’t let you complain that you’re dealing with a difficult child, or a troublesome old lady.” Claudine rolled her eyes at that, smiling fondly. “But I welcome any and all complaints about me being an infuriating wife.”
“Oh my gosh…” Claudine laughed, but tears were already escaping those gorgeous rose-red eyes Maya fell in love with so deeply. “You are just… ugh… Mechante va!”
And despite her words, Claudine couldn’t help but draw Maya in, pressing her lips against that ridiculous grin; tenderness and intensity, a embracing warmth and scorching passion altogether found in one kiss. Love and irritation, relief and hope... a promise and a confirmation.
“Happy new year, ma Claudine. I love you.”
“I love you too. And a very happy one, indeed… ma Maya.”
[“And more happy years with you to come.”]

Summer 27, Year 2
Roundabout
I didn't spend a lot of time in that far eastern part of town, but there was a small pocket of greenery behind the sundry shop with some decent foraging. It used to be a bigger pocket of greenery, before that shop came along and took some space. Hmph.
On the way I passed the town square, where in a few days one of my animals would certainly be winning another crown. The square was a completely different place without the banners and the podium. And without the other important centerpiece that used to stand there so long ago... Now it was just a place for mindlessly hanging out, and I didn't belong there.
Still, that wasn't the place where I'd be met with any disruption. It was once I'd reached that clearing of public foraging land, and no sooner than I'd picked the first plant, that I heard a voice, unduly enthusiastic, calling out in my direction.
"Ah, so you've found some of this precious treasure too!"
It was the plant-hunter, gripping a handful of fresh Pink Cats by the stems. Why was he talking to me? I was busy.
"This village has never been more deserving of its name. Buds have been blooming all over! It must be because of the recent rain."
He probably didn't understand busy. Plant-hunting was hardly a job. I did that plus a lot more.
"Rain is truly a blessing from heaven." He dramatically raised his arms to the sky, as if catching raindrops that didn't exist. "Perhaps a gift from a gentle goddess, to the flowers and the people who admire them."
Actually, she hates the rain. You have no idea how things work. But I knew it would be useless to talk to him, so I just kept ignoring him.
"I've noticed," he rambled on, "that you like to collect flowers too. I'm certain you put them to good use."
Whatever. That's not for you to decide.
"...And, you see, I picked these specially for someone who I knew would also put them to good use." He tipped his tacky hat to me and, "Goodbye then!"
With that, he disappeared into the shop nearby.
I didn't particularly like him. It was one thing to appreciate nature, another thing to appreciate it for the right reasons.
After several more minutes of foraging, I heard the click of the shop door reopening. The plant-hunter was back out, now joined by the shopkeeper with the permanently painted smile.
"Basil, these flowers are really lovely~. I can't thank you enough."
I wasn't eavesdropping, because that would mean I cared what they were saying. They were just saying it too loud.
"It was no trouble at all, Lyla! I look forward to seeing how you arrange them."
"Mhmhm. ...Say, while we're out here, can I tell you a secret?"
I was standing right there. Not much of a secret.
"You saw Louis inside, right? I have a feeling...he was just about to ask me on a date~."
"Oho! Is that so?" The plant-hunter laughed. "You'll have to forgive my interruption. With any luck, he won't assume I've stolen your heart with this bouquet!"
That would be a stupid assumption. Accepting a gift from someone definitely didn't mean anything like that.
"Oh no, he's a smart one. I'm sure he understands." She cupped her cheek with one hand and giggled. "I think he's in there working up his courage at this very moment."
"Well then, I hope that your love blossoms as swiftly and beautifully as these flowers♪"
My eyes could have rolled out of my head.
The plant-hunter finally took his leave while the shopkeeper returned to shop, and I was spared of that nonsense -- for only a few seconds.
Then, another door-click.
"Please come to Starry Hill with me!!"
I turned to find another person, talking to himself.
"L-like that! It isn't so hard."
He sighed heavily, removing his glasses to rub his temple in frustration.
"But now I have a rival. How to compete with a gesture as romantic as those flowers..."
Starting a rivalry over something like this? What a waste!
"Ohhh... I-I'll figure it out!" and he ran clumsily off in the direction of the junk shop, tripping once before realizing he needed his glasses to see two steps in front of him.
It was so completely pathetic, I didn't even know what face to make in response. I just shook my head in contempt and went back to foraging.
...What, another click?
The last one to exit the shop was someone I didn't even know was in there -- but of course, she was always everywhere. That farmer.
She must have witnessed the same thing. Incredibly, even she had on an expression like she thought it was silly. To think, some things were silly even by her standards.
To think, this was the kind of roundabout nonsense so many people wasted their time with. People were really dumb.
Standing only a few meters away, she glanced over at me -- and her expression changed.
"...?"
It didn't take me long to grow annoyed with her needless staring.
"What!?" I finally snapped, and flung an arm forward to shoo her away.
Which was when I realized, in that hand, I was still holding the flowers I'd been foraging. A handful of fresh Pink Cats by the stems.
"Wh--" It only takes a split second for people to get the wrong idea. "Don’t misunderstand! These aren't for you!"
I stuffed them away as quickly as possible and spun my back to her, struck for some reason with a feeling of embarrassment.
"Hmph." What reason did I have to be embarrassed? I was only working. I was no part of that ridiculous scene.
Those other fools, they were the ones who should feel embarrassed.
Hmph. People were really dumb.

A Bang and a Flash
Hello~ This is my first post ever on this site. I’ve recently been very invested in the Linked Universe AU by @jojo56830. If you haven’t seen it, I would highly suggest you check it out.
I was inspired by the idea of how the Links met because I don’t believe it’s been addressed yet. Then, my mind wandered the rabbit hole of possible situations for when they met Wild, and this was born. If you have any suggestions to make it better, or find an inconsistency, don’t be afraid to tell me. I hope you enjoy!
Word count: 1633. Unbetaed.
It started with a bang and a flash of light.
They don’t know why they were brought together. It could’ve been fate, it could’ve been that darn shadow that seemed to haunt them. What they do know, however, is that they are all quite… similar. Not in the way that they talked, or walked, or even how they moved. No, they were similar because of their souls.
Indeed, this group of eight is made up of heroes, of a specific land. This land is, in fact, called Hyrule, and for reasons unknown (except for one), the land goes through trouble every once in a while. No big deal, just a creature wanting the most ultimate power in the land. Fairy tales, right? Oho, they wished.
Their names were Time, Twilight, Sky, Wind, Warriors, Legend, Hyrule, and Four. These weren’t their actual names, they were nicknames meant to differentiate each other. Of course, they didn’t know each other prior to their meeting. Some of them knew of one another from legends passed down, but they had never met each other. And yet, they recognized each other. It was like they born as the same person, so intense was the feeling of family that they all felt.
And so they traveled. They traveled far and wide, through all the different Hyrules, never knowing what to expect. Eventually, they figured out the pattern: spend a couple months in one time, then jump to the next one. It was always when they were sleeping as well, so they didn’t know what to expect when the world suddenly went topsy-turvy.
It dropped them in the middle of somewhere. It was vast, the grass a fairer green than any of the prior places. It was vaguely familiar to them, almost like they were meeting an old friend they hadn’t seen in a long time. As they twisted and turned, picking apart their new environment, they noticed things. Things that were out of place.
“Hey Twi?” Warriors spoke up quietly, “This look weird to you?”
The man in fur nodded. “Yeah,” he answered, “It’s cloudy.”
Indeed it was.
To regular people, this wouldn’t have bothered them. It was a little dark, enough to darken the sun or disturb their morning. To these heroes, though, dark clouds meant something different. They meant something bad. They didn’t always know what was bad, just that something was wrong.
Suddenly, their youngest gasped. “Look over there!” Wind pointed off toward a castle in the distance. As one, the group swiveled their heads in that direction. “Is that the source?”
Time frowned, “I suppose so.” He turned toward everyone, “Let’s get going, shall we?”
The Links nodded their heads and took off toward the castle. Whatever was there was surely the reason for this ominous weather pattern.
As they approached the building, a flash (much like the one that brought them here) appeared. It was so bright that everyone was forced to bring a hand toward their eyes to shield themselves. Finally, as the light died down, they looked up, only to see- a demon pig?
Legend squinted. “You guys are seeing that too, right?”
A chorus of agreements rose up. Legend sighed, “And I thought we were done with this hero business.” He started to walk toward the castle, only to be stopped a golden barrier.
Do not go any further.
Sky’s eyes widened. He recognized that voice. It had been a long time since he had heard it, but it’s tone had been so ingrained in his memory that he could never forget it.
Time’s eyes, on the other hand, narrowed. “Why can’t we?”
This is not your battle to fight.
Murmurs rose up from the party at that. “What do you mean it’s not our battle to fight? We were literally born for this!” Wind said stubbornly.
This is one battle you are not meant to fight in.
“Hey guys,” Hyrule spoke up, “Look around.”
Everyone looked around. Now that they weren’t disoriented from the trip, they could fully comprehend the landscape. And boy, did it surprise them.
That feeling from earlier, of semi-familiarity, came back full force. They didn’t notice how old and decrepit the buildings were. They didn’t notice how, for miles, there wasn’t one flourishing settlement. They didn’t notice the wildflowers growing haphazardly, as if the wild had taken a breath and let them be free.
It was scary, how different this Hyrule was. All of the ones from the past were big, yes, but you could see everything just fine. This one, though? All they saw for miles and miles, was green. Just green.
“Who’s time is this?” Four rose a hand to his mouth shakily, “Are they the one currently fighting?”
Yes.
The voice piped up again. Twilight stomped toward the barrier, “How much do you know,” he growled.
I know enough.
“Then tell us.” Time said calmly. And so the voice did.
By the time the voice had ended their story, the fight had long been over. So enraptured were they in the tale, however, the Links didn’t notice until it was almost too late. And by too late, they meant their heads being chopped off.
When the newcomers finally settled down, Twilight was able to get a good look at the person meant to be his protege. What he saw surprised him a good deal. For one, he looked a lot more wild than he expected, with his straw blonde hair being of incredible length and braided. His blue eyes held a nearly crazed look in them, ready to bolt if things went south. For another, his clothing was radically different than most of theirs. He wore a bright blue tunic with white stitching around the edges, tan pants, and plain brown boots. The weirdest things were his accessories; he wore a navy blue cloak with an intricate diamond pattern on the back in grey and brown, and a diamond circlet adorned on his head. Whether the circlet was for actual protection or a fashion statement, Twilight didn’t know.
“That’s our story,” Twilight was brought back to the discussion by Time’s voice, “Now, what do you say?”
The current hero simply stared at them. It freaked Twilight out a little, if he was being honest, almost like he was a piece of glass being scrutinized. This went on for several seconds as the Links (minus the one in blue) waited for their (hopefully) newest member. Finally, after the silence stretched for unbearably long, the young adult toward his other companion, the current Zelda.
She looked a little worse for wear, even by Twilight’s standards. Her golden hair that he was sure shined in the sun was dirty and matted, as if she hadn’t showered in a hundred years. Like her hair, her dress was in a similar state: a once brilliant white was stained beyond belief, and ripped to shreds. Her petite body clung to her knight, who was only a few inches taller than her, but the thing that made Twilight consider her a lot more was her blue-green eyes.
They showed an intelligence that exceeded even his Zelda’s. And no, he wasn’t dissing the other’s Zeldas, they were smart as well (being the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom, after all), but their eyes didn’t hold the experience of excruciating pain and loss. These… children, for that was what they were, had been forced to grow up too fast to face a destiny they weren’t prepared for.
Twilight didn’t know their situation. He didn’t know their personality, or what they loved to eat and drink. The voice tried to tell as much as they could, but they were blocked- maybe by the restrictions of time or the Goddess herself- from a majority of it. What he did know, though, was the fierce desire to protect these too-old children from the dangers of the world.
“Link,” the princess spoke quietly, “I think you should go with them.”
Twilight saw how the boy’s ears flicked up and his eyes widened. The boy blinked, sharing a silent conversation not meant to be heard by anyone. Once again, the princess voiced her affirmation and put her hands on the boy’s hands.
“I will be perfectly fine,” Twilight heard the words exchanged from the girl, “But if there’s anything that could potentially ruin my world further, you need to stop it, Link.”
Twilight saw the look Link sent her from a mile away, “I can’t hear her anymore, Link. She’s gone, thrust out of my body as if she merely borrowed it. But perhaps that’s better, for me and for you. No more relying on prophecies. No more relying on the gods.” Zelda said tearfully, “If there’s one thing I can rely on, it’s you always wanting to help people. You may not remember everything- and that’s fine- but please, do this for our home.”
Slowly, surely, the hooded boy shook his head in resignation. He looked up, saying, “I will do it. For you.”
Zelda bowed her head, smiling, “That is all I can ask for.”
Suddenly, Time looked up, eyes flicking everywhere. “It’s coming,” he muttered. He turned toward the duo, “If you have any last goodbyes, say them now.”
Quick as a rabbit, Link grabbed the circlet off his head and placed it daintily on his friend’s. Zelda clutched the crown on her head tightly, eyes wide as she processed what just happened. “I’ve called for Purah, she should be here any second.” Link said quickly, “I’ll be back before you know it.”
Zelda nodded. “I know.”
As the bang and flash of light started up again, all of the Links heard horses galloping toward them. Rain poured down, the heavens crying their happiness. And mixed in with it all was the sound of laughter.

ShigeChi ❣️💔💘💗💞🖤 💋💜
❣️ When did your OC first realise they were in love? How did they react to the realisation?
That would include massive spoilers on future arcs, so I can’t get into that ;w;
💔 Has your OC had a bad breakup or nasty ex? If so does this have any affect on their current relationship?
Both of them weren’t in a relationship to begin with
💘 What do they love most about their partner(s)? What do their partner(s) love most about them?
Chieko’s favorite quality of Shigeo’s is his intelligence. We’ll get into this in a bit more detail later on, but part of it is, that Chieko did take a note of the fact that Shigeo is someone she can have an intelligent discussion with from a very early point on. And she just can’t help but feel drawn to that. Shigeo is someone who is actually capable of challenging her in that regard at some times and it does spark great interest and fascination in her.
Shigeo also greatly appreciates Chieko’s intellect and the fact that she’s someone he can have an actually interesting conversation with. It’s her intelligence paired with her hidden bravery that made her interesting in his eyes from day one on. You see, Shigeo is someone who is dreaded, but then there’s this little girl with not much power backing her up but who’s still unafraid of mouthing off against him…..and….he likes that? Shigeo is used to half of the world following his commands as well as getting whatever he wishes for, so Chieko is a challenge to him. And he enjoys said challenge. At the same time, he genuinely appreciates that she clearly has a spine, even though many refuse to see it, and he actually does want to see her go to greater heights.
(this was hard to explain, I hope it made sense //lies down)
💗 Describe your OC’s partner(s) from their point of view! What do they really think about them?
omg more POVs
Chieko from Shigeo’s POV
Marui’s brows furrowed, as the green fires in her eyes flared dangerously and warningly up one last time. Then she let out one of her typical huffs and walked past me. I couldn’t help but watch her stomp away, almost like she was some noble lady who felt insulted of being talked to by a guy from the streets. Which in actuality couldn’t be further from the truth. But that was part of what made Marui so, well, interesting. She was smart. Very smart. Much smarter than practically everyone in that idiot-gathering that was my own generation. So many easily-persuaded morons walked the surface of earth nowadays. They were easy to manipulate and of course I took advantage of that. Marui wasn’t one of them. She was someone who was actually capable of disagreeing with me on an argument and laying out the reasons on why I was wrong in her eyes. She wasn’t imitated by my surname or the power in my hand, but would only lift her chin upwards while eying me with those fires in her eyes. She had…so much potential and I couldn’t help but to be intrigued. So little people were as interesting as her and I would love to see her potential in full bloom. And so I only chuckled as she took the turn, her head still high up in the air. I look forward to our next interaction.
Shigeo from Chieko’s POV
I don’t need a diploma to know that Shigeo-senpai was not a good person. “Morals” was not exactly part of his personal dictionary and he took an actual excitement in his evil schemes and strolling through the school with everyone in his radius backing away in fear. He was ruthless, cruel and rude. And this is where the story should be over. But for some reason it wasn’t. I gave my best efforts in attempting to avoid him, but still he managed to find me occasionally and whenever he did, he was always so….smooth, polite and…… gallant. I hated how no matter how hard I tried to suppress it, my legs would occasionally turn to jelly when his sharp eyes fixated me and the blood would occasionally rush into my head when his sweet compliments reached my ears. Focus! He’s a gambler, a dealmaker, a spoiled princeling who was never denied anything in his life. He was capable to tell lies to casually and sweetly, like one would greet their loved one. He was not one to be trusted and I should be smarter than feeling charmed by his sweet nothings. But one part of me just couldn’t help but to be flattered when hearing his praise about things that anyone else in my life fails to notice. It was not fair! Why couldn’t he just be plain terrible? Why did he additionally had to be so eloquent? So witty? So attentive? So clever? So…handsome? Wait what? No I am not attracted to Eizan Shigeo, Head of Totsuki’s little Mini-Mafia and destroyer of dreams and happiness. No way!
💞 What do their respective families think of their relationship?
Oho~ I appreciate this ask, because I don’t think I ever talked about that
Okay so, Nene is actually supportive of this idea. Not instantly, but she will grow supportive rather quickly. From what she’s seen of Chieko so far, she came across as well-behaved, intelligent and decent, even reminding Nene a little bit of herself in her younger days occasionally with those round glasses of hers, innocence and tendency to hang around with three guys who can be rather idiotic at times. Nene worries about Shigeo a lot (because of BackstoryTM) and she hopes for him to get truly, genuinely happy and she believes that falling in love could help with that. Whenever she saw Shigeo interacting with Chieko, she took note of the fact that Chieko is able to amuse Shigeo in a way that not many can (it’s not some sort off sadistic amusement, it’s a kind of charmed, adoring amusement) and that he genuinely likes her. Etsuya actually got to meet and interact with Chieko a lot more than his wife did. He’s not necessarily enthusiastic about the fact that the girl his son has his eyes on happens to be the daughter of two of the Polar Star Kids, who clearly don’t like him. He’s actually a little bit overwhelmed and confused by this situation time to time (he’s that math meme). However, he does not really dislike Chieko. Additionally, Etsuya also knows about Shigeo’s darker days and he does not in any way want to stand in the way of some happiness for his son. He’s a little annoyed by Shigeo’s constant “It’s business” though (ironically). But yeah, should Shigeo ever start to seriously start pursuing a romantic relationship with Chieko, Etsuya won’t be an obstacle to overcome.
Now, Yuki and Zenji are a different story. Zenji is generally super overprotective over Chieko and would be wary of any guy making moves on her. But now there’s the fact that it’s Shigeo Eizan who makes moves on her. Who is basically the textbook bad boy and practically has a good bunch of warning signs attached to him. So yeah, Zenji is screeching. He practically considers Shigeo a danger to his daughter and panics when Shigeo is only near Chieko, because he doesn’t fail to notice that Shigeo is perfectly capable of making Chieko blush. Yuki is conflicted. We know how excited she is about everyone else’s love-life after all, so naturally she was also excited about her own daughter’s. She’s the kind off mom who would ask if there’s any hot guys in class when her daughter comes home from her first school day. Yuki was super excited about when Chieko would reach that age where romance would become a topic in her life and she was basically looking forwards to crushes-chats with her daughter. However, the guy that turned out to be her daughter’s crush (Yuki notices, despite Chieko’s denial) is Etsuya Eizan’s son. And Yuki absolutely can’t stand Etsuya Eizan. So yeah, she feels troubled, because she wants to tease her daughter and encourage her onto making moves and all that stuff, but she does not trust Shigeo in the slightest and fears he might be toying with her precious daughter.
🖤 Have they ever had a really bad argument where they almost broke up?
They will have a rather big argument, but they won’t be a couple at that time.
💋 Who is the best kisser? (if you’d like write a short smooch scene!)
Shigeo
💜 Give a random fact about their daily life together!
Shigeo tends to gift her macarons, because he picked up that they’re her favorite sweets (next to practically everything with Matcha) but she does not often get to eat them.
#would you look at the time#this became long#and it's just...a word-salad as always#I am ahdhdf not good with wording things I am sorry#Gofer answering to stuffz#Shigeo Eizan#Chieko Marui

I had a dream last night that I was in a land with faerie tale creatures, and it was lovely and funny at first, but it became darker and more lurid the further I traveled.
One thing to know about me is that I have always had incredibly vivid dreams, even since I was little. It actually became a problem in high school, as I was having stress nightmares. But now I only have the occasional nightmare, and most of my dreams are just interesting. And in this case, sometimes rather lurid.
I decided to expound upon all what was in my dream, and write a more coherent thing based off it. ~2.5k words, explicit content at the end.
I found myself in a large, beautiful expanse covered in autumnal birch trees, carpeting the ground in their fiery leaves. At the end of it, a large, impossibly tall wall of rock, with a cleave so thin you’d miss it if you weren’t looking. I traveled to the cleave, and it as I walked through it, it grew darker and darker, until I saw a light at the end, and could hear water rushing.
At the other end, something that looked relatively similar to what I had just left, only with a wide, clear river. It was safe enough to cross over, and I did, with little hesitation. I continued to walk, and found myself in a large forest, just like the expanse I had come from, only with light, giggling voices all about, and butterflies, of the largest kind I’d ever seen. They seemed to frighten me to a degree, but I did not know why. I did not want them to touch me, that much I knew.
I passed by a tree that seemed to be stifling a laugh, and I turned to it.
“Hello?” I said, looking the tree up and down. Its leaves were pink, and the wood a dark brown, unlike the white of the birch trees all around.
Suddenly, a section of it broke off and took on the form of what looked like a woman, brown and woody with pink-leaf hair, and it beckoned me over.
“Yes?” I said, approaching it.
“Who are you?” it asked me.
I hesitated. I knew the rules. Never give the fae your name.
“Ah, no-one of consequence,” I said, “Just a passerby.”
The figure pointed at me, smiling and winking.
“Smart girl.”
I smiled and nodded.
Suddenly, a small faerie tumbled out of the tree, and flew into my face.
“Oho, a very smart girl indeed,” it said, “But you can not simply walk in here with a gift! Tis rude.”
I looked down at my person. I had nothing on me of any value, save the clothes on my back.
“I have nothing to give,” I said.
“Mayhap nothing of monetary value,” it said, “But surely, there is some knowledge you might share with me? Knowledge that I do not currently posses?”
“Like what?” I said, with a laugh, “I fear I may be of no use to you. The only kind I have is nigh-encyclopediac knowledge of the fictions I like to read.”
The faerie’s eyes grew wide.
“En-sike-low-pee-dee-ack? What is that? What does that mean? Tell me!”
“Oh, well, an encyclopedia is a big book, or series of books, that have comprehensive information of all kinds, depending on the subject. For instance, an encyclopedia of botany will have lots and lots of information about plants.”
It flitted in the air, with a squeal.
“Ohh, I did not know such a thing! Thank you so much! Oh, I’m going to get as many en-sike-low-pee-dee-uhs as I can find!”
The tree smiled and nodded.
“That means you may pass through here unmolested,” it told me.
“Thank you,” I said, continuing onward.
————–
The journey was pleasant, but as it grew dark, I became tired, and lost. The forest grew denser, and full of whispers and other strange noises. I was not fearful, but I did think to myself that I ought to find somewhere to safely stay the night.
Almost the very moment I had the thought, I found my way to a little cottage, buzzing with life. The lights inside glowed, and smoke lazily pumped out of the chimney.
I approached the door, and it opened before I could even knock.
“Oh, a weary traveler?” a friendly looking woman said.
“Ah, yes ma’am. If it is not too much trouble, might I stay the night? I would be happy to pay my way with any chores you might need done,” I said, “Twould only be for the one night.”
The woman smiled.
“Of course, dear. We would all be happy to have you,” she said, herding me inside.
“Someone put the kettle on, we have a guest!” she said.
I walked in to a homey little place, with a very crowded dining room. I walked in to see several folks at the table, no one seemingly related, but all very chummy and jovial with one another. I felt quite at home right away.
“Now, darling, when’s the last time you ate?” the lady of the house asked me, setting me down in an empty chair at the table.
“Oh, ah, well… I suppose… it has been a spell…” I found myself saying, suddenly feeling quite hungry indeed.
“Ah, well then, have some of this, love!” she said, putting a generous bowl of stew and a loaf of bread before me.
“Ohh, my, thank you ma’am, this looks wonderful,” I said, taking a bite without thinking.
Indeed, it was possibly the best thing I’d ever tasted. The stew, the bread, and the glass of wine the lady set in front of me as I ate. Everyone at the table seemed to watch me as I ate, with smiles on their faces. They would strike up conversation with me, and I indulged them happily, sharing things that I realized later I maybe should not have.
That night, I was ushered into a cozy, rather sumptuous guest room, and I found myself lying in bed right away.
“Pray, forgive me,” I said, my lids drooping, “I am suddenly quite tired. Might I rest here now?”
“Oh, of course, darling,” the lady of the house said, “Sweet dreams.”
I was too tired to think about the things she muttered as she walked away, and my eyes closed as I drifted to sleep.
I seemed to awaken the very instant afterwards, to very strange noises coming from below. Whimpering, scratching, whispering… it was all very unsettling, and I looked around me, noticing that the very air around me had taken the same sort of still, stifling feeling, as if all the warmth from before had been siphoned away.
The noises grew more frantic, and I took the lantern at my bedside. I reached for the door, only to find it ajar. Most distressing, I thought.
Then the noises came again. Whimpering, scratching, whispering.
I listened intently, and realized they seemed to come from the outside. The impossibly dark outside. Slowly, I looked around the common room of the house. I thought to shout, to see if anyone were home, but thought better of it. No, something was not right here.
I swallowed as I tiptoed out the front door, listening to the noises. They grew louder as I walked around to the back of the house, and I realized they were coming from a storm cellar. I could now distinguish the words that were being whispered, and I leaned an ear towards the cellar to hear them.
Help… help me… they will kill me… help me, please…
My heart raced as I quickly wrapped my hands around the chain keeping it locked, and I cursed that it was so well locked. But then, a thought occurred to me, as my eye fell over the door handles. While the lock was most certainly new, they were not. I rushed quietly to the shed, finding a hammer. I took it to the handles, and pulled away the nails, quietly as I could, until they were gone.
I grabbed my lantern and delved deeper into the cellar, and covered my mouth to suppress a scream of horror. Blood, everywhere, everywhere, trailing all the way to a very large cage. I thought to run, but then I realized that it was the one caged who begged.
“You… you there! Please, please help me,” the trapped one said, hoarsely, more like a growl.
I raised the lantern up to the cage, saying nothing. A dark, furry creature, hunched over and bleeding.
“Are you… are you hurt?” I asked, “Is all this blood yours?”
The creature laughed weakly.
“Werewolves have a lot of blood,” it said, “Especially males. Think nothing of it. I am fine. Other than being trapped in here, of course.”
I felt oddly at ease when he spoke, and approached him.
“You seem so strong. Why don’t you just break out yourself?”
“Tis made of silver,” he said, “Cheap, alloyed silver, but still silver. I cannot touch it without being harmed. Even now it burns at what skin it does touch…”
I sighed, pitying the poor thing.
“Is there a key somewhere?” I asked.
“Hanging over there, actually,” he said, a clawed finger pointing a little ways away.
Sure enough, a key hung on a nail on a post just to my right. I took it and approached his cage, attempting to unlock it.
“Why do you trust me so?” he said, “They are the ones who fed and sheltered you, and I am a monster.”
I looked up into his yellow eyes.
“Call it an instinct,” I said, “Nothing in this realm is as it seems, I have noticed.”
I freed him, and at once he let himself out, and stretched.
“Ohh, I thank you, my friend,” he said, “Now, hurry. We must away, before they find us. Tis nearly time for the sacrifice.”
“Sacrifice?” I hissed.
“Yes,” he said, “Tis as the old legends. Feed a maiden to a werewolf under the harvest moon, and you shall have power beyond comprehension when you skin his hide and wear it. Fools, they are. Such power is truly beyond comprehension, and it destroys the wielder from the inside out. But come, hurry. I know the way.”
I followed him out of the cellar, away from the house and into the woods. Almost instantly, I heard shouting and screaming, and he grabbed my hand, goading me to go faster. He was limping, but still ran more quickly than I could keep up with, and I tripped, hitting my knee on a stone jutting from the ground. I called out to him, and suddenly felt the cold grasp of fingers at my ankle. A man. He pulled me under him, and he hovered over me, putting a cloth over my mouth and nose. I kicked and screamed and fought, but ultimately felt myself succumb to a sleep, as the sounds of screams and howls and the grisly sounds of flesh being rent apart faded away as quickly as they began.
————–
It was dawn when I awoke, and I found myself lying against soft, black fur. I looked up, and the werewolf was different; still quiet wolfish, but his face was more of a man’s than a beast’s. His claws were smaller, but still quite beastly, and his tail was all but gone. I felt warm, very warm, and I sat up to look around me, wiping my brow. He awoke right after, reaching for me.
“You… are unharmed,” he said, a crooked claw caressing my cheek. I found myself blushing.
“As are you,” I replied, my hand snaking around his wrist.
This was very strange, this warmth and intimacy we suddenly had between each other, but it felt so natural that I did not even think to question it. My heart thudded away in my burning chest, and I took another hand to brush just under his eye.
“You are lovely,” I whispered, not really thinking.
“As are you,” he replied, his hand at my waist.
I swallowed, and my mouth grew dry. I seemed to grow hotter by the moment, and I could feel sweat beading at my chest, trailing downwards. Every touch of his seared my flesh, but I wanted more.
“I… I don’t quite understand what I’m feeling right now,” I confessed, “But I like it.”
He smiled.
“I like you,” he said, his voice breaking.
I laughed, and he licked his lips.
“Forgive me, but… I desire you,” he said, “Most ardently.”
My chest heaved, gazing into his fiery eyes. I could feel the warmth radiating from him, and it made my skin itch for more of his touch.
“Will you have me, even as I am now?” he continued.
I answered without hesitation.
“Yes.”
He was upon me in an instant, and I quickly threw my clothes off, allowing him to kiss me, strange and large and toothy as it was. It set a fire within me, and I found myself groaning into his mouth. He growled hungrily as he traveled down my body, claws dancing gently across my skin, tongue tasting my sweat.
His breath ghosted over my shoulder, and he bit into the flesh gently. I moaned, and he increased his pressure, sucking languidly as the skin. The pain was replaced immediately by pleasure, as his hot, wet tongue lapped at the wound. He repeated the act on my other shoulder, and I felt my eyes roll back.
I felt a frenzy overtake me, and I ran my hand along his chest.
"Please, now,” I begged, “Take me now.”
He growled with delight, and he gently laid me down, opening my legs with his massive hands and dipping his head between them. I writhed as he tasted of me, and he moaned with longing.
“Ohh, how long has it been? My dear, you taste… so wonderful,” he said, hungrily.
I gripped at his hair as I came, and he was upon me once more, easing his hard length inside me. I cried out from his girth alone.
“Yes, yes, please,” I begged, my heart beating more rapidly than I had ever recalled it doing so before.
His thrust wildly, not sparing me a single moment of respite. His teeth dug into my flesh once again, and I hissed as the sensation drove him to delve even deeper inside me. I pushed my hips back towards him, attempting to gain even the tiniest bit of extra depth.
My whole body shivered as my orgasms chained with one another, almost never ending. A small part in the back of my mind wondered if this was the result of magic, or… something else? But it all felt so wonderful, I did not care.
Then he was coming undone, howling as he spilled his release inside me. I frowned, thinking the moment over, but, to my surprise, he kept going. He remained erect, and thrust even deeper than ever, causing my back to arch as I reached my pleasure once more. He moaned loudly, almost painfully, as he continued.
“Forgive me, forgive me,” he begged, “I… I long to fill you with my seed, over and over again, until you are dripping with it. Long to make you mine… Oh gods, forgive me.”
I shook with realization: he was in a heat. We were in a heat. A small feeling of shame crawled up within me, wondering if I had only wanted him because of it, but then he was coming undone again, and the sensation of his hot seed pouring inside me caused me to dash the thought away.
“There is nothing… to forgive…” I breathed, “Take me. Fill me. Mark me. Make me yours.”
And he would, for hours upon hours, until we both lay in a heap in the grass. By this time, he was now almost entirely a man, albeit still quite wolfish, and very handsome, at that. Our senses had returned to us, and he stroked my arm as I laid upon his chest.
“Forgive me,” he said again, “I… hadn’t realized it was my time already. I had been locked away for so long, I lost track. And then I held you, and breathed in your scent… and it ignited it within me.”
I shook my head, burying my face into him.
“I told you, I care not. I… I wanted it as well,” I admitted, “And besides… I am quite in my right mind now, and I am still here, am I not?”
He laughed.
“I suppose you are,” he said, holding me close, “I suppose you are.”

The scientific improbability of a man-avian hybrid was incredibly high. The idea of a human with the hollow bone structure of a bird, the inability to support the wings and the ability to use the muscles required in the wings- near impossible to imagine, to even attempt to construct. There’d been a vigilante, recently, with mechanical wooden armor to represent the appendages‒ Ryan had glimpsed him once or twice, lackeys with blurry photos had come to him, but although the craftsmanship was incredible, Ryan believed full heartedly that besides manmade compositions, flight, such as that, was completely out of the question.
Although, occasionally, it was nice to be proved incorrect.
In front of the cell he’d been so graciously provided was the vigilante from before, armorless and barefoot, greasy mud around his eyes and a nest of dirty straw hair, and giant, beautiful twitching wings, gorgeously golden in the fluorescent lighting, a feather as long as Ryan’s arm dropping to the floor, and he knew there were probably longer. For now, the hybrid aimlessly glanced about, and Ryan watched in silent fascination.
“Incredible,” he murmured. The hybrid’s eyes darted to him, a curious, sharp hazel. Watched carefully as Ryan got up from his cot and pressed a hand up to the glass. “What a scientific wonder you are. Where did you even come from‒ incredible.”
The wings fluffed up, twitching again, and the hybrid slid closer, watching. Ryan kept his gaze as he lifted a hand and tapped where Ryan’s fingertips were pressed against the window wall, trilling quietly before busying himself in his scarf.
“Does it understand me, I wonder? Curious thing,” he mumbled, and those eyes darted up once more.
“Might,” he chirped. “Not stupid, stupid. Not it. Him.”
“Naturally,” Ryan laughed. “Smart little bird.”
“Little, little,” the hybrid cackled, and opened his wings quite a ways, baring his teeth in a mockery of a smile. His wings cast a shadow across the cell, across Ryan, and he noted breathlessly how they weren’t even completely opened. “Smart, yes, smart. Nasty smart.”
“Oho, I don’t doubt that.” Ryan dropped his hand from the glass and watched as the hybrid folded his wings back to his body, watched as they curled back around his shoulders. “I am the Mad King.”
“Oho,” the hybrid sang in his voice, loud and mocking. “No, no, not quite. Not true, not quite. Nasty, bad, liar.”
“Clever thing, you’ll learn my name someday,” Ryan mocked in return. “Names are powerful things‒ some trust is yet to be earned.”
His guest hummed, pulling closer to the glass. “Trust is strong. Don’t trust easy,” his gaze darted up and down, following Ryan’s form, dangerous, intelligent, “King. But. But.”
“But?” Ryan breathed. The hybrid chittered, clearly pleased with Ryan’s attention.
“‘M names Vav. Need... help. Powerful help. Smart. You’ll do good. So trade?”
He pulled a set of keys from the depths of his scarf and shook them incessantly like a parent to a small child. “Trade, King?”
Ryan laughed darkly, plans already formulating in his mind. “This can work out quite nicely.”
