i feel like dream in human aus is usually characterized as being more stoic and stern while hob is more easygoing, but i think it would be funny to have a university au where hob is the professor who's like "no work is deserving of 100%. find 27 more sources and do it again" while dream is just like "they put their dreams into it, hob 🥺 A+! A+! A+! A+!"

oh it's more bleak than that, people were crying screaming throwing up when I said "reclaiming" the word retarded to insult people is awful 💀
alas this is the Gifted Kid site though--many do not know there exist in real life kids who grew up being told they would literally go nowhere because of mental disabilities making them inherently worse than every other kid

I think the funniest Yassen moment in the books that still cracks me up every time is when Cray is like 'what was up with the bullfight? I think you may have known he would survive' and Yassen is like 'I hoped he would', right to Cray's face, and gets annoyed with Cray for questioning his motives lmao

“two people that have been dehumanized rehumanizing each other” being essentially the core of a relationship dynamic in whatever form is truly peak to me when it comes to being drawn to ships. it can be executed in a plethora of ways and rehumanizing encompasses a lot like it is looking at someone holistically fighting the human tendency to reduce and simplify down in order to grasp and understand. watched movie with lin yesterday and thematic core semirelated yep rubins vase yep see both pictures yep ig im a little bigger than a picture yep

oh, i’m fine. it’s nothing, really, just thinking about how alex probably taught miles how to play the piano and i’m just imagining them sitting thigh to thigh on the piano bench and alex being so patient with miles as he keeps hitting the wrong key bc his elegant, eager fingers are too long and keep overreaching. thinking about alex looking at miles the way he only looks at him and miles being so entirely focused bc he wants to learn but then there’s also the occasional banter that’s on brand only for them and alex saying something like “just watch me hands and follow me lead” with that soft, intimate tone in such close proximity i’m fine i’m not a mess at all

Since Enjolras and Combeferre have known each other since they were in diapers, and Grantaire and Bossuet were childhood friends too, are there any others in teacher Au who have known each other that long?
And do Enj and Ferre, or Bossuet and R have any interesting stories from when they were small? 👀
HI EMILE!!!! 🫶
Hmm for now I believe all the other teachers met when they came to the school! We really only get these pairs of childhood friends because 1. Combeferre had recommended the job to Enjolras, who had a bit too long of an arrest record to hold onto any other jobs and 2. Grantaire lost a bet, which meant that he had to accompany Bossuet to apply for the job. He was extremely surprised when he got in.
As for childhood shenanigans, they all have a long looooong list of stories >:) perhaps I will explore them in future fics!! For now, they use their childhood connections in other ways...

Hello, good people of Hosiedom! It is I, your Uncle Asad, and, Once Again, I Have An Idea™ 😂
Although this one is kinda the fault of @persevereforahappyending, it should really come as no surprise that I have generated this idea (the surprise is that it has taken this long!). For, coming from the Roman/Latin side of Classics, I have sworn an oath that we cannot have The Odyssey without also having The Aeneid!
I haven’t given this one a lot of thought yet, but here’s the first take.
Hope is obviously Aeneas.
Klaus or Hayley is Anchises.
Landon is Elissa/Dido of Carthage (I love the idea of Landon being so heartbroken that Hope left him that he throws himself on a pyre. Also fitting with the phoenix imagery, except Dido does not resurrect after 😂)
Alaric and Jo are Latinus and Amata, or maybe vice versa! (Maybe Caroline as Latinus, since he was pro-Aeneas and Amata was pro-Turnus and commits suicide.)
Josie is Lavinia, naturally.
I don’t know who Turnus is…one option would be Landon, if I hadn’t already used him for Dido. Penelope? Finch? Rafael???
In this telling, Ascanius is Hope and Josie’s child and ancestor to the twins! Romulus and Remus, not Hope and Creusa’s son who makes the whole journey.
Creusa, Aeneas’s wife who dies escaping Troy, could be Roman, could be Rafael, could be Maya…. OR instead of being Aeneas’s wife, since she’s not needed as the mother of Ascanius, we give “dying during the escape” to Hayley (and Anchises, who survives longer but never makes it to Latium, is Klaus).
That then unlocks Roman’s betrayal, either as a Greek (Sinon, “left behind” to goad the Trojans into bringing the horse inside the walls) or as a Trojan who decides to bring it in. If he’s a Greek, Greta could be Odysseus, leader of the plot, and the Greeks could all be Nazi Vamps 😂
I also feel like Inadu/The Hollow should show up somewhere along Aeneas’s journey to Latium…
It’s been so long since I read The Aeneid that I don’t remember what other important characters there are and to whom they should be assigned…
Given the scope of this idea, it’s probably another one that’s “Oooh, fun idea…but I’ll probably never write it” 😢

@ everyone going back to school, especially all my fellow neurodivergents and specifically those with special interests or hyperfixations, there is no wrong way of revising! It doesn’t matter if it seems “unusual” to other people, if it works for you, use it!!
I just finished collage and because of my funky brain, I can have a difficult time remembering information, especially things like names and specific details. And considering a lot of the classes I was taking required me to remember a lot of different theories, that was proving to be a bit of an issue. Cut to when we were getting up to our A level mocks and my English literature teacher at the time starts going round the entire classroom asking everyone how they revise one by one. Everyone’s saying the usual stuff of “I reread the material” “I use flash cards” “I make notes” etc. All stuff I’ve tried to do in the past but just never worked for me because my brain functions differently. She then gets to me and asks how I revise and I explain that I’ll try and make connections in my brain between the thing I’m studying and whatever my interests are. I’ve always found this to be useful for me because it keeps my brain interested in what I’m studying by using my special interests and also requires me to actively think about and analyse what I’m studying so that I can make those connections. However, my teacher just looked at me with the most condescending smile on her face and asked “does that really work?” Obviously I got uncomfortable and said “yeah it does” but she then proceeded to ask “do you do anything else?” And making it out as if I was an idiot for doing something like that and just making me feel embarrassed in front of the class. Eventually, I just said one of the generic answers everyone else had so she’d leave me alone.
However, I’m petty as hell so when it came to the mocks I used that method to memorise one of my theories for media studies. Cut to that theory being the one that stuck in my head the most, just proving to me that this method my teacher decided “doesn’t work” without actually listening to me, does in fact work for me. Fast forward to my actual A Levels and I used that method again. Ace Attorney had just become my new special interest/hyperfixation so I used that for a lot of the theories. Specifically, one of the theories I linked it to “The Steel Samurai”, a tv show within the Ace Attorney universe. Then when I went into my exam I saw a theory question. For those who don’t know, for theory questions they just ask you to apply a theory to a specific text but they only name the theory, they don’t tell you what the theory includes. While at first wasn’t sure what the theory was and went to answer another question, I then quickly remembered “the steel samurai” and even wrote down “the steel samurai” next to the question as a reminder for myself for when I went to answer it and it helped a lot as a prompt. Once again, the method my teacher decided “didn’t work” was the very reason I was able to answer that question and passed my media exam
Again, it doesn’t matter what other people’s opinions are on how you revise, if it works for you, please use it! You know your brain better than anyone else. Do whatever helps you understand the material and keeps your brain engaged

when I think about albus and polly becoming friends, I’m lowkey reminded of these two boys in my high school cooking class who got paired up and were like “miss noooooo!!! we hate each other, miss! no seriously, we don’t get on please don’t do this, put us with anyone else” and their friends being like “no, for real they’ve been picking on each other since year 8, don’t do this”
and then they proceeded to get on like a house on fire. like, after a week or two they were laughing and chatting the entire time and it was obvious to everyone that even though they still claimed to hate each other that they were obviously having a lot of fun and actually worked really well as a team. they were so proud of their baked goods 😭
anyway that’s polly and albus in like fifth year potions

"The best calumnies are spiced with truth," suggested Qavo, "but the girl's true sin cannot be denied. This arrogant child has taken it upon herself to smash the slave trade, but that traffic was never confined to Slaver's Bay. It was part of the sea of trade that spanned the world, and the dragon queen has clouded the water. Behind the Black Wall, lords of ancient blood sleep poorly, listening as their kitchen slaves sharpen their long knives. Slaves grow our food, clean our streets, teach our young. They guard our walls, row our galleys, fight our battles. And now when they look east, they see this young queen shining from afar, this breaker of chains. The Old Blood cannot suffer that. Poor men hate her too. Even the vilest beggar stands higher than a slave. This dragon queen would rob him of that consolation." (Tyrion VI, ADWD) Should you reach your queen, give her a message from the slaves of Old Volantis." She touched the faded scar upon her wrinkled cheek, where her tears had been cut away. "Tell her we are waiting. Tell her to come soon." (Tyrion VII, ADWD)
I appreciate how George explicitly makes the point that slavery isn't just about the economic aspect and that it is, at its root, built on subjugation. Even the people who don't directly benefit from it will fight to keep the system in place just so they have someone beneath them. That's why all the criticisms of Dany not replacing the economy before abolishing slavery fall flat, because that wouldn't have worked either. The slavers would've fought to enforce slavery regardless because they enjoyed the power and privilege it granted them. We also get insight onto the slaves thoughts on Dany's revolution, which makes it feel like this perspective is only coming from the consideration of the slavers and not the people actually being subjugated. The slaves want to be free, they want Dany to free them, and that shouldn't have to wait until the people who think of them as property decide it's acceptable.
