I love how chaotic Lloyd is in the first season.

First of all he gets kicked out of his boarding school for being too good, and is now homeless.

Then he finds the closest village, pretends to be his dad to steal candy, and gets his ass kicked by a bunch of Ninja.

Then he opens a serpentine tomb and makes all the Hypnobrai do his bidding.

After they betray him he opens another serpentine tomb and makes them do his bidding.

Then after they betray him he decides to open another serpentine tomb, because that worked so well for him the last two times.

Then after he takes control of his old school and Phythor betrays him (shocker), he decides to room with his uncle and the people he tried to have killed MULTIPLE times.

Then when kai leaves him unattended at an arcade he didn’t like, he decides to dress up as a snake and go chill out with all the snakes that hate him now.

After his father comes back from the underworld just to save him, Lloyd now decides that he doesn’t want to be like his father.

AND after being an absolute menace that entire season and causing literally every problem they had, the prophecy decides that Lloyd is the destined Green Ninja and will be Ninjago’s saviour.

And this kid just wants to play video games and steal candy.

Random thing I just noticed: the Serpentine Generals have glowing eyes where the regular Serpentine in their tribes do not.

Also, on another note, Pythor does as well:

That, plus the tail and his possession of the Anacondrai staff, leads me to believe that back during the production and airing of Season 1, he may have been meant to be the sole General of the Anacondrai before Season 4 made it canon that the Anacondrai had not one, but multiple generals.

thinkin about serpentine lately, specifically for alterline, but i figured i should also just whip out a serpentine age chart for me (and others who wanna go by this) so yea uh enjoy! further thoughts under the cut bc i love talking <3

0-5 - hatchlings. they haven't grown any legs yet, and function just like normal snakes. the difference is species-specific coloration, slightly more intellect than normal snakes, and budding abilities. that, and usually parents do not let their hatchlings out of sight

5-10 - young. they finally grew legs and arms after their tail split, but there's still a vestigial snake-like body on their hoods, with a tail similar in function to a tadpole. can mostly only hiss for communication, but as they grow, they start being able to talk more.

10-16 - teenagers. legs and arms are now fully functional and the vestigial hood tail is receding. in turn, their actual tail is growing, so it's kinda like the mass is being transferred downwards. abilities begin to develop a lot more, but they need training. they begin molting away their baby scales and change color.

16-24 - adolescents. almost fully grown serpentine, the baby hoods are now all shedded out with the adult molt. tails are now longer, and they're in general a lot stronger. they're almost fully matured adults now, they just need a slight push

24-> - adults. fully grown serpentine, with full control over their abilities and have finished molting out all baby scales and patterns. typically reach about six feet tall, some taller.

subset: leader type. there is only one leader type per tribe, a naga-like body that hearkens back to ancient serpentine. naga bodies are symbolic of power and strength, and are even taller than adult serpentine. they have leader status of their tribe, but if they are challenged, their power may be lost and transferred.

Au where instead of all the bs that happens in the show Lloyd is just a weird kid who likes snakes and gets a bunch of em as pets. Maybe a movie au? Idk I just wanted to figure out what types of snakes the serpentine would be.

Lloyd's first snake is Fangtom, a nice regular milksnake. Pretty common type of pet snake. I would have loved to find something venomous but there was just nothing that matched the colors so well and hey Lloyd has to start somewhere.

His second snake would be Skalidor, a pied morph of a rainbow boa (constrictor). Pretty, accurate colors, and a constrictor.

Third is Pythor, a lavender morph kings naked. I had a bit of a hard time with this one since purple isn't exactly a common color in snakes. This is the closest I could get, it looks a bit more like his post being eaten form but close enough.

Fourth is Slithraa, a Blue Racer. Again, blue isn't all that common in snakes, and there certainly aren't any blue snakes with hoods. I tried. This fella is pretty. I chose Slithraa, the first hypnobrai general instead of Skales because of the relationships in the show. Also I think it's funny that when I looked in the shopping section of Google for these guys I just got a bunch of toys and hypnobrai minifigures.

just started rewatching season 1 and i love the Slither Pit fight because it's so funny to me that this species have been captured for CENTURIES upon MILLENNIA and at one point the Hypnobrai just said "fuck it- fighting pit" and made a fully mechanized death pit with levers and special ice weaponry and ground that tilts. and it is just a part of that cave system now. really makes you wonder what the other snakes were up to. i mean, pythor ate his species but other that THAT-

Rating early seasons' villains for literally no reason. (This is just my opinion, it's okay if you disagree)

1) Garmadon: do i need an explanation here?

2) Morro: broken soul... He was relatable at some point. I think he deserved better.

3) Nadakhan: I know you hate him, i hate him too. He was very powerful, and he made people hate him, so that's why i think he was a good pure evil villain.

4) Chen: I don't know if i want to punch him or laugh with his silliness sometimes. Does that make sense? Anyway, I think he did great as a villain.

5) Pythor: How many times have we see this guy? Somehow he just survives all the time! He never gives up!

6) Crux and Acronix: I don't know why but i expected more. They had the potential and they didn't use it. They could have been better.

7) Overlord: Just no. I expected soooo much more from him in early seasons.

- Don't ask me "where are the other serpentine?" Or "where's Clouse?", "where's Nadakhan's crew?", "Where's the crimson snakes?", "where's the nindroids?".

I didn't include them because they weren't the major villain.

Also about season 3: i didn't include Cryptor because i consider Pythor and especially Overlord as the main villains of the season. If i had to include him, i think he'd go under Pythor.

So, according to new leaks, the villain Jay minifigure coming in summer is not a wolf warrior outfit, but instead his normal ninja tournament suit. The villain part comes from the fact that the set shows him fighting against the other ninja. This might seem a little strange at first, but there might be some bigger story leaks to this. Starting off with the facts and what we have seen so far:

Jay is currently an agent of the administration and has memory issues

the administration is likely at odds with the ninja, after they took back the dragon energy core

In the short scene we have seen of him, Jay appears to speak with a bit of a lisp, saying the „s“ a little longer than usual.

Now my theory is, that the ninja rescue Jay relatively early in the season an the person in the trailer actually is his hood

However, he still has partial memory loss and seems to behave differently to normal. It also seems like rescuing him was suspiciously easy. Now while looking through the ninjago wiki, i found this

This is what happened with cole back in season 1, when he served as a spy and warrior for the hypnobrai under Lloyd‘s command for a while, mostly during the battle of the treehouse and the ensuing destruction of the monastery.

Now while Jay doesn‘t have the red eyes, we have seen a rather large amount of Hypnobrai in season 1, with Mikhlosh at the crossroads carnival showcasing their ability to hypnotize for newer viewers to see.

And the administration does have an agent under the name of agent underwood who, is in fact a hypnobrai

She also seems to be in a higher position than other administration agents, judging by what we‘ve seen in the episode. So maybe she is the one who took parts of his memories and turned him into a sleeper agent for the administration, before letting the ninja rescue him. Maybe at the end of part 1 or early in part 2, Jay‘s hypnosis gets activated and he fights against the rest of his team in the mysterious tournament, happening in summer. Major angst potential in all of this, especially with Jay being ripped from the rest if the team, shortly after they got him back, but we‘ll just have to see
