Right, quick explanation of the upcoming Rugby World Cup Match:
Ireland vs New Zealand. Rugby World Cup Quarter Finals.
Ireland is currently ranked #1 in the world. But they have never won a Rugby World Cup Quarter Final. They've reached it 8/9 times in the past, but have always lost at this point.
(Yes, this is only the tenth Rugby World Cup. First one was 1987.)
New Zealand is usually the best team in the world. However, they're currently off their form, and ranked #4. But "off their form" still means beating Namibia 71-3 and Uruguay 73-0. "Off their form" is still enough to dominate most other teams.
Out of the last five games between the two, Ireland has won three times and lost twice. Out of the last ten games, Ireland has won five and lost five. Out of their entire history of 36 games against each other, Ireland has won five times, because the first time they ever won was 2016.
This is the match that has every Irish fan nervous.
But, crucially, for the first time ever: New Zealand is equally nervous.

Rugby New Zealand V Uruguay, Rugby World Cup 2023
New Post has been published on https://thedailyrugby.com/rugby-new-zealand-v-uruguay-rugby-world-cup-2023/

Rugby New Zealand V Uruguay, Rugby World Cup 2023
8am Friday for live updates of the All Blacks v Uruguay World Cup pool clash. Uruguay sought to win two games at the Rugby World Cup for the first time. On Wednesday, Namibia was eliminated. The next opportunity for Uruguay in the pool round is Thursday against New Zealand. The All Blacks and Los Teros will square off for the first time in Lyon.
Any side that defeats a big rugby-playing nation by nearly 100 points must be the World Cup favorite, right? After the All Blacks’ 96-point thrashing of Italy on Friday night at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, that must be how it appears.
The Azzurri showed considerable attacking promise during the 2023 Six Nations competition, even though they ultimately lost all five games and were last in the standings whilst still being below the top 10 in the world. They were approaching the encounter with New Zealand with something resembling confidence after winning their first two games in Pool A. Aaron Smith scored a hat-trick in the All Blacks’ win over Italy.
Where is the Rugby World Cup 2023 third-place play-off held?
This year, the match will be played at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, where the final and most of the other knockout games will be played.
Even if the game offers little celebration to the two sides participating in, it remains an excellent opportunity to see some great rugby and take in the world cup before it’s culmination the next day.
Sunday 1 Oct – Australia vs Portugal, Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, 4.45pm – ITV4
Sunday 1 Oct – South Africa vs Tonga, Stade de Marseille, 8pm
Thursday 5 Oct – New Zealand vs Uruguay, OL Stadium, 8pm – ITV4
Friday 6 Oct – France vs Italy, OL Stadium, 8pm
Saturday 7 Oct – Wales vs Georgia, Stade de la Beaujoire, 2pm
Saturday 7 Oct – England vs Samoa, Stade Pierre-Mauroy, 4.45pm
Saturday 7 Oct – Ireland vs Scotland, Stade de France, 8pm
Sunday 8 Oct – Japan vs Argentina, Stade de la Beaujoire, 12pm
Sunday 8 Oct – Tonga vs Romania, Stade Pierre-Mauroy, 4.45pm – ITV4
Sunday 8 Oct – Fiji vs Portugal, Stade de Toulouse, 8pm – ITV4
How will the Rugby World Cup be broadcast?
The 2023 Rugby World Cup will be broadcast exclusively by ITV, which will broadcast every game live.
All of All Blacks games today will be broadcast on ITV1, with a few games occasionally airing on ITV4 when there are scheduling conflicts. Additionally, ITVX offers online streaming.
The presenting crew is led by Mark Pougatch, who will also be joined by Jill Douglas, David Flatman, and Hugh Woozencroft in hosting coverage from France.
Jonny Wilkinson, Maggie Alphonsi, Sam Warburton, Jamie Roberts, Brian O’Driscoll, Greig Laidlaw, Philippa Tuttiett, Bryan Habana, Sir Clive Woodward, Rory Best, John Barclay, Sergio Parisse, Gareth Thomas, Jim Hamilton, George Gregan, Sir Ian McGeechan, Lawrence Dallaglio, and Sean Fitzpatrick are among the pundits who provide insightful commentary.

New Zealand Tighten Grip On Semi Final Berth
T20 World Cup - Super 12 - Group 2 - Match - New Zealand vs Namibia
New Zealand tightened their grip on a semi final berth as they restricted Namibia to a total of 111 for 7 in 20 overs in defence of a 163 total in their group 2 T20 World Cup match in Sharjah on Friday.
The pace duo of Trent Boult and Tim Southee showed just why they are such a prized asset to the Kiwis, as they accounted for four of the wickets, while sharing eight overs and conceding just 35 runs while Namibia were kept in check during their run chase.
Namibia had just a fleeting moment when they reached 47 without losing a wicket in seven overs, but the contest turned around in favour of New Zealand once and for all when medium pacer James Neesham clean bowled Michael van Lingen for 25 made in 25 balls.
From then on Namibia kept losing wickets at regular intervals to crash to their third defeat in three matches.
New Zealand put into bat after losing the toss were rescued by a fifth wicket partnership of 76 between Glenn Phillips and James Neesham who took the Kiwis away from 87 for 4 in 14 overs, as Namibia’s bowlers tightened screws with some accurate bowling.
Phillips made an unbeaten 39 in 21 balls with one four and three sixes, while Neesham remained not out on 35 with one four and two sixes as New Zealand reached 163 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs.
New Zealand hit some early trouble when openers Martin Guptill (18) and Daryl Mitchell (19) were back in the dug-out with 43 runs on the board in 6.2 overs.
But skipper Kane Williamson (28) and Devon Conway (17) held the innings together with a stand of 38 runs in 5.1 overs before Phillips and Neesham performed their rescue act.
Scores:
New Zealand 163 for 4 in 20 overs (Kane Williamson 28, Glenn Phillips 39 not out, James Neesham 35 not out) Namibia 111 for 7 in 20 overs (Stephen Baard 21, Michael van Lingen 25, Zane Green 23, Tim Southee 2 for 15, Trent Boult 2 for 20)

The Namibian men’s rugby union team first played competitively in 1955, against a touring British and Irish Lions side. Known then as South West Africa – “Namibia” was not used to refer to the region until the 1960s, and the country only gained formal independence in 1990 – the team lost by 0 points to 9.
Whilst still referred to as South West Africa, a Namibian test side competed in South Africa’s Currie Cup competition, but following independence the first team has competed in the same vein as other international sides. Indeed, Namibia has qualified for every Rugby World Cup since 1999. However, despite being one of the foremost international sides on the African continent, Namibia are yet to win a World Cup match; as a result, they have never progressed beyond the pool stage.
Namibia’s men’s rugby union team is known by the nickname the “welwitschias”, in reference to the eponymous plant, which is found in the Namib desert.

For many rugby and wider sport fans, New Zealand’s “All Blacks” need little introduction. This indefatigable and all-conquering side is one of the most iconic teams in sport: their eponymous all-black kit and intimidating pre-match Haka war dance add to their reputation as one of the most complete sporting sides in history. As well as incredible win percentages and historic triumphs – New Zealand has won 3 Rugby World Cups and 18 Tri-Nations/Rugby Championships – this team boasts a cult following and an almost spiritual dedication from its fans. Since World Rugby rankings were introduced in 2003, the All Blacks have only ever dipped below number 4 once, and with good reason – they seldom go into a match as anything shy of overwhelming favourites!

Okay, so, I have been on this Pern fashion thing for days now and am throwing some baseline shit together. Namely, gonna split up the Northern Continent into it’s Territories and see about designating some geographically similar regions on Earth to be used as a baseline for inspiration. Might even get some base ideas for the clothes of those areas, might not, we’ll see what happens. Yeah no.
Before all that though, a list of the potential fabric sources for Pern
Leather*
Fur*
Hide*
Wool* (*likely most common sources during a Pass)
Cotton
Linen (likely to be among the most common, just because the DLG mentions native flaxes and so they’re probably easier to grow than other shit)
Sisal (also probably common, since there are also native sisals, but less likely to be used for clothing with other options available)
Also, things like elastic and zippers are unlikely to be a thing, so we’re looking as buckles, buttons, ties, drawstrings, and lacing as the manners of holding shit on or closed.
And so, we move on to the actual meat of this shit-

Geography: Landlocked, mountains in the north and northwest, fields to the south and southeast
Potential Inspirations: Mongolia, Northeast China, Slovakia, Hungary
Note: None of this is meant to be a one-for-one! Or even accurate! This is just taking environmental factors and using them to give a diverse range of options to base clothing on! Because damnit it shouldn’t be all ‘Pern is Western Europe flavored’ or ‘Pern is East Asia flavored’! This is just meant to give some baselines people could build off of if they so chose!
Have fun with it!
