England's Pursuit of Another Semi-Final Triumph Against India
In recent years, England has shone brightest in semi-final matches, demonstrating their prowess in high-stakes games. Two dates stand out in their white-ball cricket resurgence: July 11, 2019, and November 10, 2022. These days saw England deliver two of their most impressive limited-overs performances, both leading to World Cup finals victories. In 2019, England crushed Australia by eight wickets to secure a spot in the 50-over World Cup final. In 2022, they defeated India by 10 wickets in Adelaide, reaching the T20 World Cup final amid a fervent crowd. This Thursday, England, the defending champions, return to Guyana for the first time in 14 years to face India in another crucial semi-final. Storm machine, CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0, via Wikimedia Commons Previously, England entered these matches as underdogs but managed to turn the tide spectacularly. Despite a rough start, they gained momentum with wins over Oman, Namibia, and the United States. The only Test-playing nation they beat was the West Indies, but they did so convincingly. This semi-final will be a true test of England's capabilities. India, on the other hand, has cruised through the tournament, particularly in New York, where they were the main attraction. They haven't faced significant challenges since their close win over Pakistan and continued their strong performance in the Caribbean. Captain Rohit Sharma's recent explosive innings against Australia, scoring 92 from 41 balls, signals a formidable challenge for England. Virat Kohli, although not in top form, is another potential threat. India had the advantage of knowing their semi-final venue early due to the tournament's scheduling for Indian television, while England faced last-minute travel arrangements. India's strategy includes a spin-heavy squad, anticipating the slow pitch in Guyana. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, yet to play in the tournament, are expected to feature prominently. England might also consider debuting their spinner, Tom Hartley, to counter India's approach. Weather conditions and the lack of a reserve day add another layer of uncertainty. If rain disrupts play, India will advance due to their higher group stage ranking. England's recent history in knockout matches is positive, whereas India has struggled, losing four of their last five semi-finals in white-ball World Cups. A win for England would vindicate coach Matthew Mott and captain Jos Buttler, easing the disappointment of last year's 50-over World Cup. The victor of this match will likely be the favorite in the final, facing a South African team with its own semi-final demons. For England, a win on June 27 could become a landmark date, while a loss would quickly fade into obscurity amid the upcoming football frenzy. Read the full article

Man Claims He Saw Mohammed Shami's 7-Wicket Semi-Final Haul In Dream, Internet Stunned
Mohammed Shami emerged as the star of India’s win over New Zealand in the semi-final of ICC World Cup 2023 on Wednesday. The 33-year-old took seven wickets, recording the best-ever wicket haul by the Indian bowler in 50-over World Cup history. He is being congratulated by fans from across the world. But one social media user claimed to have dreamt of Shami’s seven-wicket haul a day before the semi-final clash and his post on X (formerly Twitter) is now viral.
The user named Dan Mateo shared a post on November 14, a day before the semi-final clash saying, “Saw a dream where Shami took 7 wickets in the semi final.”
The post performed moderately, but users started talking about it as soon as India won defeated New Zealand after Virat Kohli’s brilliant century and Shami’s record-breaking haul.
It has now been viewed 1.7 million times and amassed several reactions from cricket fans, who asked Mr Mateo to make a similar prediction for the final on November 19.
“Please take a deep sleep and script the winning final for us,” commented one user. “Blud was there when they were writing the WC script,” said another.
Many users asked him to dream about their future. Some even asked if he can actually look into the future and tell them who will be the next US President.
Mr Mateo posted a follow-up tweet, saying he too is stunned.
Shami took seven wickets for 57 runs off 9.5 overs at an economy rate of 5.79. His bowling figures are also the fifth-best in World Cup history, with Australia’s Glenn McGrath’s 7/15 against Namibia in 2003 being the best.
The pace veteran also completed 50 World Cup wickets, becoming only the seventh bowler to do so. Shami is also the fastest to get there, reaching the milestone in just 17 innings, surpassing Mitchell Starc’s (Australia) record of 19 innings.

12 Cheetahs from South Africa Will be Relocated to MP’s Kuno National Park on 18 February
Last year, the first batch of 8 Namibian Cheetahs arrived in Madhya Pradesh on 17 September under the Cheetah reintroduction program. The second batch of 12 Cheetahs will be flown from South Africa’s O R Tambo International Airport in Gauteng on Friday evening, and reach on 18 February at Kuno National Park. As per a Madhya Pradesh government official, the journey to the national park will be taken by IAF's MI-17 helicopters. The official also said that Bhupender Yadav, the Union Environment Minister, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister will release them in the Kuno National Park’s quarantine enclosures on Saturday.
Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Agriculture Minister, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Civil Aviation Minister could be present for the occasion tomorrow, but confirmation on this is still awaited. The Chief of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), SP Yadav said that for the 12 Cheetahs, they have created 10 quarantine bomas at Kuno. Yadav also said that on 20 February, a consultative workshop will be held at Kuno involving international Cheetah experts, veterinarians, forest officials, and scientists. The event will focus on better cheetah management.
Before being released into the wild, the 8 Namibian Cheetahs are currently in hunting enclosures so that the cats can interact with each other. The enclosures are of a six square Km- area. As per the government official, the Cheetahs are in good health and are killing prey at an interval of 3 to 4 days. Also, a spotted cat is recovering from treatment. She was unwell because of high creatinine levels. Around 7,000 cheetahs are in South Africa and the majority of these belong to Botswana and Namibia (the world’s largest cheetah population).
It has been 3 years since the idea of relocating 12 Cheetahs from South Africa was mooted by the government of India. Initially, the nation had plans to get the spotted cats by the mid of 2022. However, MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the two countries took time and led to the delay with the Cheetahs as they continued with their quarantine. Restoring the population of Cheetahs in India has been a priority and the project is expanding by even considering the ecological objectives.
In 2009, India conceived the African Cheetah Introduction Project. But did not show any results for more than a decade. Then due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the plan for bringing the Cheetahs in November 2021 in Kuno fell apart.
