"Gus, don't be the only black lead on a major cable network" is a line engrained in my brain 😭 i love Shawn's "Gus, don't be" running joke but the ones like this where he breaks the 4th wall are especially hilarious

one thing i'll never understand is why my boss has me sharing an office with our software engineer when i'm a network engineer because i was gone for a week and now that i'm back all my networks are down
and i couldn't bring them back up and i was kinda despairing about it because i was sure my configs were right n all so i asked around if anyone changed them and like as it turns out the guy i'm sharing my office with unplugged all my patch cables so ofc nothing's gonna work
and like i get it i'm running them from the server room and some switches in different rooms to our office and they're covering our floor and they're a bit of a hazard
what i don't get is why i don't share the office with our other network engineer. yk the one office that's right next to the server room and has a couple more switches plastered about?

Don't Touch That Remote! We'll Be Right Back!

Cable TV......what a time! Before streaming services made its way into today's society, people were exposed to the wonders of television that aired at specific times. You either had to be there exactly when your shows came on or you had to record them so you could watch later. Cable TV has had tons of channels targeted at kids to enjoy providing fun shows through animation, live action, puppetry, stop motion, CGI, and so much more. It even sparked interest in other age demographics like teens, college students, and adults. Even if you didn't have cable, there were a few channels who were happy to please your eyes like PBS Kids. Now, I grew up watching multiple channels through my TV and no, it did not rot my brain! It's a myth! There were actually plenty of shows that provided education while still being enjoyable as well as memorable. Things that I do adore through cable were the exciting marathons of your favorite shows, new episodes that came out on Saturday Mornings, and the occasional holiday specials during Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, Halloween, etc. I can still see a handful of shows I used to watch through streaming platforms, but I'll never forget the feeling I had while watching everything live with silly commercials and promos for future shows and movies to look out for. Also, the quote that's been rammed into everyone's head:
"Hey! Don't touch that remote! We'll be right back after these messages!"

Being a child of immigrants and/or spending extended amounts of time in countries outside of the one your family immigrated to is so confusing sometimes, especially with shows. Like, I don’t know what other people have seen or not seen. For example: I watched a LOT of Slugterra bc it was on the Teletoons network (Quebec network), but I’ve met like 3 ppl who remember it. Same with the TinTin movie, Astérix and Obelix, In the Night Garden, Detentionaire, Fangbone, Jimmy two shoes, the deep, are you afraid of the dark, Dragon hunters, etc. Also, having watched many of them in French (which I am very bad at, especially when I was a kid which was when I watched these programs), I have a rlly hard time explaining what actually happens and I only remember stills or the name in French instead of English. Anyways this makes it all sound like a fever dream to my USAmerican friends, i.e. “you know that show where it’s all like puppet 2D animation and the guy is running from his zombie school detention?” Or “remember that show where a bunch of people in weird costumes made noises and there were tiny people who marched outside their home?” Or “what do you mean you don’t remember the show about the big guy and the little guy on floating islands slaying dragons, one of which farted to fly?”
Anyways gotta love being second gen

[id: art of Gus’s face from Psych. Around the face are the words ‘Gus! don’t be exactly half of an 11 pound forest ham!’ Under his face is his full name, Burton “Gus” Guster. /end id]
I’m love him.

Tom Durante at Mediaite:
Fox News is logging into HughTube. Conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt has joined Fox News Channel as a contributor, the network announced in a statement Friday morning. In his new role, Hewitt will provide analysis across all platforms, and will make his debut Friday night on Special Report With Brett Baier, the network said. Hewitt, the host of The Hugh Hewitt Show on the Salem Radio Network and Salem News Channel was a pro-Donald Trump voice in the editorial pages of The Washington Post until November, when he left the paper after walking out of a live event. Back in December, Hewitt blasted the White House press corps as “no use to the country” and said he’d “ban everyone” from briefings with the exception of the Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy.
Right-wing commentator Hugh Hewitt has been hired by GOP propaganda organ Fox “News” as a contributor. Hewitt hosts a radio show on Salem Radio Network, and previously served as a contributor to MSNBC/NBC News and The Washington Post.

Just a heads-up:
Because of certain rumors going around (again), we just want to clarify: CARTOON NETWORK IS NOT SHUTTING DOWN.
The #RIPCartoonNetwork hashtag is being used by people who work in the animation industry about the bad treatment animators for Cartoon Network have been receiving. The channel itself isn't going anywhere right now.
And as always, fuck David Zaslav.

I was suuupperrr depressed the other day so I watched some Xiaolin Showdown, cartoons make me really happy especially cartoons from my childhood. Anyway Jack Spicer is probably the earliest character I can recall being obsessed with, I still have a major soft spot for him and he's definitely a comfort character
