Truth or Trump?: Administration lawyers face impossible task trying to defend Trump without lying

Rachel Maddow highlights a problem lawyers who work for the Trump administration are having a hard time reconciling: The honesty and truthful testimony required by courts of law are incompatible with the bad faith arguments behind the Trump policies that are being taken to court. Lawyers who don't tow the Trump line are fired, but lawyers who lie in court risk permanent damage to their careers.

My grandparents are exactly who you'd expect to join the Trumpie crowd if you didn't know them personally. Old (boomer and pre-boomer) white people, upper-middle class, from a red state in middle America, grew up in small towns, religious Christians.

They are obsessed with Rachel Maddow. They watch her all the time. They adore her. We have to tell them to turn off the news, because they don't need that stress and they'd watch her all day. In their house, the TV is tuned to MSNBC, basketball or football games, and Laurence Welk reruns.

There are plenty of boomers like them, and plenty of zoomers who love Tucker Carlson. Keep an open mind about the alter kockers.
