When Fascists can't win elections, they don't adapt their ideology, they just reject democracy.
Likewise, when they can no longer count on the law to bend over backwards to protect them, they just reject the concept of the rule of law.
This is why debating them is pointless. They have no coherent ideology. All they care about is power, and everything else is just a means to that end.

An excellent postmortem on the September 10th presidential debate.
Rachel Maddow led a panel discussion at MSNBC which began immediately after the debate concluded.
I was going to do a post with my own observations about the debate. However the MSNBC panel said what I wanted to say and they said it a whole lot better.
They said Trump "got destroyed". But the real destruction won't come until the votes are counted in the first week of November. So build on current good news rather than rest on it.

Walter Einenkel at Daily Kos:
Rachel Maddow took a few minutes during her show Monday night to break down some of the fundamental differences between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s presidential campaigns and bemoan the media’s baffling desire to pretend the two candidates are somehow on the same playing field. "They are not the same kind of candidates. They are not doing the same kinds of things," Maddow said, citing the more than 700 national security and former military officials who recently signed a letter endorsing Harris.  And on the other hand?
"Here's Trump promising that if he's president, he's going to find where California is hiding its huge secret faucet that they used to dump all the rainwater into the ocean," Maddow said. Even Canadians, who are legendarily nice, say Trump’s insistence that water shortage issues could be easily fixed by ending environmental protections is “uninformed.” Maddow then pointed to Harris’ plan to help working- and middle-class families with an expanded child tax credit.  “Here, on the other hand, is Donald Trump saying he's going to abolish the Department of the Interior,” Maddow said, then paused. “For some reason. Nobody has bothered asking him why. Why do you want to abolish the Department of the Interior?” Anyone wondering won’t be surprised to learn that very idea can be read about in the anti-democracy Project 2025. Maddow also highlighted Trump’s many promises to punish his critics using executive powers. Her obvious conclusion?  “One of these things is not like the other."
On Monday night’s edition of her MSNBC show, Rachel Maddow gave a detailed explanation of how Kamala Harris and DonOld Trump are not the same at all.

I'm glad that Peter, who insisted his first interview after Davy died was with Rachel Maddow, and Mike, who couldn't even say his name in a 2017 interview are not alive for Trump's second term.

I’m starting to hate that podcasts, movies, and books are being marketed specifically as arguments. Calls to arms. “If you think we ruffled some feathers last year, watch out! This year we’re really going to bury the [woke/liberal/conservative/bigoted/pearl-clutchers/misogynists/feminists] and roll on their graves! If you think casting a [insert the definition of a person by their outward appearance/native country/gender/orientation/religion] in this role was groundbreaking, wait till you see what we’ve got next! Get ready to see [insert hot-button words like “a strong female role model” or “what a real man looks like”]
Stop making “aggressive punk-rock idealogical powerhouse” your marketing identity. Just be genuine.
Stop saying “HERE’S WHAT WE HATE! HERE’S WHAT WE’RE AGAINST!” and just say what is true. When you actually believe something is true, and believe that truth stands on its own, and needs no help, then you can shine a spotlight on it genuinely, lovingly, without all the bluster and insecurity of false confidence and making “coolly mocking the other side” your whole persona.
Don’t say “here’s what THEY’RE doing that’s so wrong.” Say, “look how great this true thing is.” Anything else is a vanity project. You’re making your podcast/movie/book about how you’re the best voice for a specific audience, and you know how we can tell you’re not genuine? Because you don’t actually talk about what makes truth good. You talk about what makes liars disgusting, and then applaud yourself for being the one to say it. It’s all about you. It’s not about the actual values you align yourself with.

In a stunning Monday night segment, just one day before the highly anticipated vice-presidential debate, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow exposed Republican vice-presidential nominee and Ohio U.S. Sen. JD Vance’s connection to a disturbing far-right movement that seeks to dismantle American democracy and replace it with authoritarian rule. Maddow, known for her deep dives into political extremism, revealed that Vance’s rhetoric and ideology align closely with the “late republic” theory — a concept championed by far-right thinkers like Curtis Yarvin, advocating for the collapse of democratic systems to make way for a dictatorial regime. Yarvin proposed installing a dictator who would be the “CEO” of the country. (Read more at link)
I watched it and it’s fucked up. I hope this shit gets more attention after the debate.
