No small part of Legends seems determined to make the Jedi look bad and the Sith look good. Considering the Sith are inspired by nazis and fascists, it's both funny and deeply concerning.

But I digress.

One of these attempts is the character Darth Vectivus, a human male Dark Lord of the Sith during the time of the Galactic Republic, when the Sith are in hiding. Apparently, he's a man with friends, with a family he loves and who love him back, a regular job… He's a perfectly normal guy, a perfectly mundane dude among thousands of megalomaniacs.

His first appeareance is as a ghost (some funky Dark Side thingy he created, btw), when he's trying to convince a Jedi (don't remember this one, I think it was a girl?) to strike him down. This is because these ghosts are connected to a living being, if the ghost is striken down, the being they're connected to dies. Vectivus is connected to Jacen Solo, who's on the edge of falling to the Dark Side. Apparently, Vectivus does not want a galaxy ruled by the kind of Sith Jacen Solo (or rather Darth Caedus) would become.

But, unlike other attempts at making the Sith look good in the EU, I actually like this guy. Why? Mostly for the funnies, not gonna lie. This Dark Lord of the Sith, the ultimate villain of the SW universe… is a perfectly normal guy with the same problems in his life as the rest of us.

Vectivus didn't know he was Force sensitive until his adulthood when, while doing Business™️, he and his employees came across a Dark Force nexus inside one of the mines they were working in. Fascinated by the power he could feel, he disolved his business, gave compensation to his employees, and went to search for the surviving Sith who could teach him. However, despite his Sith training, he remains a perfectly normal guy who lives a perfectly mundane life until his death, when he dies surrounded by friends and family. It's hilarious, can you imagine his Master's face? The sheer dissapointment?

He has restrain and moral standards. For example, he seems to be a decent boss and doesn't exploit his employees, cares for his friends and family and, just by guessing, isn't a complete asshole to his Apprentice since, whoever they are, they opt not to kill him despite the existance of the Rule of Two.

And yet… we find out he's still economically predatory, he still abuses his powers to harm and profit over rivals, and generally win at business. He isn't causing harm to those close to him, but he's still harnessing the Dark Side to hurt others.

That's the whole point, the Dark Side is always corruptive. Darth Vectivus is just less corrupted than most Sith.

That's it, that's what I like the most about the guy. He seems normal, is normal in a way… and yet he's still an evil bastard, only the regular evil bastard we find in our daily lives instead of the murderous crazy no-sense-of-restrain kind of Evil Bastard™️ we're used to see in a Sith.

It's… a bit of a grim reminder that evil is everywhere, in everyone, including you, and it can take many forms. That even the most kind-seeming people can be evil.

On the other side, the people he's murdered are… zero. Nonexistant, zero, nada. He's killed absolutely nobody. It's actually pretty funny. He's the only non-murderous Sith in existance, literally the only sane man in an Order of fascist megalomaniacs and it's hilarious.

I'm rather glad for his existance, actually, thanks Legends. Mostly because now I can say that I've killed as many people as a Dark Lord of the Sith.

Seeing pictures and videos of dead people really changes you, especially when it's children. I feel so sick and I cannot comprehend what the people there are feeling. It's not just that they were killed, they were open. Intestines, hollowed heads, crushed bodies, and more horrific situations.

I had never seen anything like this...before going on twitter. I've been crying so much for these poor people and babies.

There is no god. Or at least, not one that cares. It's clear now.

Zionism is the most clear picture of evil I have ever witnessed. What Israel is doing and has been doing for decades is nothing short of pure evil. Killing, starving, torture, rape, and the list continues.

And the world doesn't care. Because why would it? People have been mistreated, tortured and killed forever. In Sudan, in Congo, in Palestine. As long as it doesn't effect the rich and powerful, they won't do anything. They don't care. Even regular people can't stop themselves from supporting corporations that use slave labour or supports Zionism.

It isn't a political statement to be against Israel and Zionism. It's common sense. Anyone with a shred of humanity and empathy will never stand with evil.

I want to say something positive but there's nothing positive to say. This world is truly dystopian. But I am still human. And like all of you, I will continue my life and keep myself distracted. I hope all those who have had their lives taken are now part of the stars and at peace in some form.

I'd also like to point out one my total top "favourite" phrases- Sun Soldiers, heirs to Alina Starkov's power. That's what helps you sleep at night, Zoya?! Make it a matter of inheritance?! Something to be passed down on other people?! Not the worst kind of tragedy- the butchery of Alina's very being?! Disgusting, how she treats Alina as some sort of benevolent icon living her secret dream. Zoya doesn't even have the excuse of not knowing her personally, of not being present when were Alina's powers ripped out of her.

(If there's something unnatural in all of these books, it's those so called Sun Soldiers.)

And back to the Darkling- I'm sure those nice, obedient Soldiers hold no grudge and don't abuse the power they have over him now.

Which gets us back to Darkles' living conditions- apparently, he's a disgusting whore for making himself at least a little bit comfortable.

I'm sure he suffers no migraines or other light-related pains or issues. He's just a bit warm. :)

And the lack of even the most basic camp bed is completely normal. Fjerdans don't give their high-sec prisoners furniture either!

Yes, it has parallels to fascist Europe, but it also has parallels to xenophobic militaristic US and imperialist Japan. The point is not "look at this outlier of a country committing atrocities," the point is that the country committing atrocities might be your country and you might be complicit in it no matter how morally upstanding you might think you are. To act like only one government is capable of committing genocide blinds you to the potential that any other government might commit genocide too.

Beginning his college tour at Queens College, there was a mob of over 200 people threatening and cursing at him. “I want the counterparties to come hear me and speak. I want people who are against the IDF to hear what I have to say. Unfortunately, there hasn't been room for that.” He spoke on the fact that the mob refused to listen to this speech and ask questions. Getting threatened by these individuals, Fried had to be escorted back by the police.

“How can you have peace with people who refuse your right to exist?” He says.

Another case he brought up was an encampment he visited that took place at City College, in which he is an alumnus. He came intending to have peaceful and meaningful dialogue. “I’m asking someone, somebody who wants peace, to come and speak to me.” Not a single person took the offer. Not only were they refusing to speak to Fried, but they blocked him from entering a public area that is funded by taxpayers' dollars, including himself.

After one of Fried’s recent speeches in Boise, Idaho, people came to the hotel he was staying at dressed in keffiyehs, holding hammers and wrenches, in an attempt to lynch him. They did 10,000 dollars worth of damage to the hotel, luckily, Fried wasn’t there then. Three out of the four people have since been arrested. People plastered pictures all over the city portraying Fried as a villain and killer. “Because these people are so anti-peace, I have to keep going.”

When asked about dealing with hostile and aggressive questions, Fried answered, “It's very simple. We are speaking the truth. We are on the right side of history. These people are lying, conflating truths, and revising history. We cannot let them.” Fried says he arms himself with truth and history. He fights with facts.

“The most common misconception about the IDF is that we want war. We do not. We are a defense force. We want peace.”
