There is another kind of rage and despair you will feel when you are an artistic person studying and working in technological fields and you keep seeing your peers and people you are supposed to look up to blatantly using artists' hard work for training text-to-speech models.

#I go online and access my artist bubble to be fed with the illusion that maybe AI “art” will die out like NFT #Only to go back to reality and realize that small artists will be fucked no matter what #And no #this fucked-up technology will not die out #at least not in my country #because the gov has just newly established research and development centers focused on AI #you can say AI is not just text-to-speech models and GenAI and those centers might not research them #but we all know that people from technological fields have no reason to be kind to us #if they had #they would not make the knowledge of this technology go mainstream like some open-sourced codes #I hope that in the future I will be able to study to establish some sort of solution to the problem with the artist's right to be put first #but in the near future there will be so much hardship for artist and creative community

For those who don’t know, ai art theft just figured out how to make convincing videos.

So in case this was not clear before:

If a movie is made using this technology and you hear about it, don’t buy tickets. Yes even if it’s that one. No exceptions.

If a book uses ai writing generation or image generation, do not buy it. Do not read it. Do not give anybody money for it. Yes even that one. No exceptions.

If a song or youtube video uses this technology, no not like it, do not share it, do not watch it or save it or listen to it. Yes even that one. No exceptions.

If you have any shred of respect or empathy for people who are having their passions and livelihoods spat on, for the countless people who *will* become victims of deepfake media and identity theft, for literally every single person who will be affected negatively by this bullshit, than do not engage with ai art bullshit.

Ai art is from here on out fundamentally unacceptable. In any context.

Computers should not get to make art while humans work slavery wages and cannot afford to live.

My extended family gets on pretty well BUT today I walked out on a conversation they simply wouldn’t stop having at me (“but ChatGPT!”) (and I was saying NOTHING) and I don’t think I have to apologise, but mostly because I’d established a track record of short naps and I don’t think anyone actually noticed

#I don’t agreed it’s necessarily the future #I accept it appears to be the present #but MY GOODNESS it’s the end of interesting conversation #at least with nfts I could get out of most conversations by switching out of art mode into writer mode #except with the very nerdiest adversaries #people just kept coming into the room and starting the conversation over again #good grief
