So I love The Great Gatsby book like so much I've read it too many times

The Musical isn't a great (haha) representation of The story book, characters etc. BUT it captures the essence of the era, the actors do freaking amazing with what they have, the songs are great and its FUN.

I love seeing how the people who made the musical interpret it and yes, it annoys me that they stray from the plot and change it up 93% of the time, BUT IT'S FUN.

If you had an idea of how it should be and raged when it wasn't the perfect image, then maybe read the book again.

HAVE FUN with the musical because fun is what it's meant to be. and appreciate jeremy jordan saying old sport.

Is the Gatsby musical an accurate retelling of the original novel? No.

Does it romanticize the fuck out of Gatsby and Daisy? Yes.

Is the idea of the green light being a metaphor for romantic love entirely missing the point? Yes.

Is it a really, really fun time with gorgeous music, beautiful visuals, and a wildly talented cast? You're goddamn right

ALRIIIIGHT let's get into the design of this bad boy

the idea was ... basically just a bit of techwear, modern street style, all that-- i was sort of winging it haha. i wanted a very loose and free style with the cargo pants, belts, and unzipped jacket, while the hood was added for dramatic effect when i started the lineart~

i felt like experimenting with his hair so once again i slicked back the right-hand side of his part, i would have given him his pre-overblot hair (for more variety w/ the long hair) but to be honest i kind of like the short hair with this look~ it kind of screams kpop idol but whatever HAHAHAHAHA

fishnet under clothing was an absolute must, and i went a little more on the ""bad boy"" look by giving him the chain and cuff earring on one side... plus the dramatic eyeliner/eyeshadow... yeah. RIP yuhua's lip gloss we will always miss you

also shoutout to V for volunteering vizzie for the duo magic-- i love me a good RIOFY friendship

(as for headcanons on how yuhua would act during this whole event, um-- he'll behave i promise 🥰🥰 he'll try not to let his inferiority complex get the best of him I MEAN WHAT WHO SAID THAAAT)

i can't think of anything else that i thought about particularly hard during the process, so uhm-- thank you for reading this far and no promises on when i'll get the groovified version out if ever LMAO

I've been watching Hazbin Hotel in prime. Just watched episode 5 and I gotta ask

Why, oh, WHY DON'T I SEE MORE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT "MORE THAN ANYTHING" WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE HAZBIN HOTEL MUSIC???

Like I get it, the song before it "Hell's Greatest Dad" Is a bop reminiscent of other music from the era its parodying. I loved it.

BUT why are you only putting clips of that song when this MASTERPIECE comes a few minutes after

I honestly don't even know where to begin with this song. The visuals are beautiful, especially when we get moments like this where you can just see the absolute LOVE this man has for her daughter is so sweet and Heartwarming I just-

The voices are fenomenal but what else can you expect from the broadway talents of Erika Henningsen and Jeremy Jordan.

There is also the whole Symbolism with passing the baton to the next generation and stuff. I- I can't even get into the specifics right now Im too emotional.

what do you mean this is the first art i've drawn just for fun in months? what do you mean after drawing death all the time this is the first time i've drawn him uhh... just over 2 years... not counting the donation request to draw him on stream the other week... well i got to stream elisabeth das musical for a bunch of lovely people and i'm so happy they enjoyed it and they've been fueling my want to draw him again more often with the der tod brainrot i've infected them with.

Lord of Nothing

So, my hand slipped and instead of going to bed early (no worries i don't work today) yesterday i made this very (and evidently) quick sketch thinking about what a confrontation within Shuriki and Esteban would look like.

I based Shuriki's taunt based on "Lord of Nothing" which the context from what i gathered it is sorta a taunt, but also a call out for a huge mistake without any turn back (I think. It's in Russian and I don't speak nor understand it) I did used the english lyrics version for it

S: "I thought you preferred being alone" E: "I don't want to stay here alone! S: Lord of Nothing at all!

For the context of the drawing. You can take it two ways hahaha. Unseen scene from the events after Esteban escaping" or an alternate universe where Shuriki didn't lie at song of the Sirenas and we got a confrontation after a brief fight where he tries to use a sword against her but she uses words.

Cannon related: Esteban has a breakdown and due to the magic (maybe) hallucinates Shuriki is there and confronts her but she cruely taunts him, calling him out as he falls into despair knowing deepdown its his guilt and the weight he carries but also how he did for years the secret to his family

Fannon alternate universe: Well, these two do have a confrontation and Shuriki basically calls him out telling him his Familia won't go easy for him on that one, nor the fact that he threw away the chances to come clean and decided to try to escape the inevitable.

And well, you can take this as dialogue or in the weird blue moon chance that Shuriki just to be extra petty said "Screw it, its a duet!" and basically sing "Lord of Nothing."

So when both the Toymaker and Maestro were defeated, their powers of manipulating the world around them stayed around for a while right?

Toymaker defeated = won the game = you get a prize (double TARDIS)

Maestro defeated = flashmob musical number in universe

So when Sutekh the God of Death is defeated, his powers will probably stay around for a while, right?

So my theory is someone is going to die (Ruby, Carla, the Doctor, etc. doesn’t matter) but they’re going to be brought back by the lingering powers of Sutekh, possibly by Susan? Her harnessing the powers? Or Ruby is my next guess.

Either way, someone is dying in the finale episode, bet. But they won’t stay that way! Though they may Come Back Wrong
