Frankie: Jill, I’m here.

Cahill: Alright, here we go. Back when this unit was built, it was part of a bigger system of bunkers and tunnels that led straight to the lab. I opted to keep it that way. Assuming they haven’t boarded it up since, it’s a straight shot to the lower floor of the lab.

Frankie: This has been here the whole time, and you’re only just telling us now?

Cahill: Yeah, well, getting into the lab is only the first hurdle. Once you’re inside, you’ll have to contend with their security system. Armed guards… cameras… and biometric checkpoints. Now, luckily, I can help with some of that. Years ago, when I still worked for the military, I installed a back door in the lab’s security system, allowing me to see and hear what they see and hear. But if you can get me access to their main computer system, I can do a lot more—unlock doors, disable scanners, you name it. As for avoiding the guards, though, we might be out of luck.

Frankie: What if we had a distraction?

Blair: So let me get this straight… you want me to derail the entire show to sic hundreds of party-goers on BioSim Tech? Where they might be shot at, arrested, or who knows what else?

Frankie: If enough people join in, we could overwhelm them. Plus, I was thinking more along the lines of “things got out of control and we had no power to stop it”, you know? Plausible deniability.

Blair: I see… And what’s in it for us?

Frankie: Chaos? Anarchy? A chance to stick it to the man?

Blair: Uh huh…

Frankie: … I’ll give you 100 bucks?

Blair: Hmph. I’ll think about it.

[two days earlier]

Frankie: So Erwin, you and Jill will go in through the tunnel system, get Cahill computer access, and then unlock a door on the outside. I’ll go to this party to signal Blair, and then come meet you.

Jill: And I can use my powers to help too!

Cahill: Absolutely not.

Jill: What? Come on…

Cahill: Your powers were out of control enough to rip open a portal. Who knows what else you might do by mistake. We can’t risk it.

Jill: It’s not fair! I never get to use them…

Erwin: Hey, we’ll get you home soon. Then you can use them all you like!

Jill: Yeah… sure.

Blair Witch Meets Top Gun Maverick AU

I apologize in advance this one is definitely a little out there 🙈

30 years ago Nicholas ‘Goose’ Bradshaw and Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell headed into the woods of Burkittsville Maryland to research the urban legend of the Blair Witch. 82 hours later Pete would be found wandering the roads on on the outskirts of the forest covered in dirt and blood, muttering about an old woman whose feet never touched the ground. Search parties were sent out but Nick was never found and Pete, beyond mentioning being forced into a corner once to the police, went mute when questioned about what happened and had to be committed.

Now, decades later Nick’s son Bradley, who has become obsessed with the legend that took his father, is setting out to see if he can find the answers he seeks in those same set of woods. He is bringing along his best friend Natasha and the man he lost to his obsession years ago, Jake. Though broken up, Jake knows that something evil lurks in Burkittsville and he’ll be damned if he lets the love of his life go in there without him. Armed with cameras and a map, they hope to find some clues as to what happened that night 30 years ago. But before they step inside Bradley is forced to bring one more person with them, the man who escaped the Blair Witch’s clutches, his godfather, and the last person who saw Bradley’s dad alive: Pete Mitchell. The older man signs himself out of the mental institute and joins them on this adventure.

With this knowledgeable guide, the group gets a little more hopeful. They start their journey and head into the thick of the forest, Maverick leading them silently but forcefully, bringing them deeper and deeper into the dark of the thick trees. As night falls, noises can be heard and the group huddle together as the sounds of something horrific seems to stalk them. The next day they go to move on but can’t seem to find the right way to go, even Pete looks confused; and it is discovered that they have been going in circles for hours. Soon more strange things begin to occur and tempers flare.

As the worst seems to be happening and history looks to repeat, Bradley can’t help but wonder if maybe Pete was allowed to escape all those years ago just for this moment here, to bring the Blair Witch new victims to claim.

The lyrics portray a shattered young man who was stood up at the prom but, without saying, you know he’s going to bounce back. Marty got the visual for this song after passing a group of teenagers decked out for their high school prom. He zipped off this song in 20 minutes. His original 1957 track is premium country-pop trimmed with doo-wop and rockabilly. His creamy smooth voice owns the story, and his goal was to out-chart his earlier single “Singing the Blues,” which was eclipsed by a competing version by crooner Guy Mitchell. Ray Conniff arranged Mitchell’s international hit, and Marty insisted Ray run the session for his new song. Marty’s instincts were correct—it became his 3rd #1 hit, and it’s still on playlists and soundtracks (it’s also name-checked in Don McLean’s “American Pie”). Nalo’s fierce breath cut her flame’s life short. Then, she glared at the light-blue-haired girl at her side.

After a moment, Pippa burst into nervous chuckles. “You’re still mad about that?”

“Of course I am! I almost lost you!”

A wordless conversation passed between their eyes.

“So then…” Kai said, “What…what happened? Pippa’s like…not a zombie, right?”

“Of course not.” Nalo broke their contact and waved a hand. “That’s when we met the deer-man.”

“What the hell is the ‘deer-man’?” Enzo asked.

Cedric replied, “The guardian of Featherfall’s forest. He wasn’t very fond of the Necromagus not allowing the deceased to rest, though, I am still surprised he emerged from the deep forest to help you all.”

“Well…we were really thankful for it,” Pippa smiled.

“Yeah,” Nalo added. “Really, really thankful for it.”

As they fell back into a stare, Cedric’s eyes stole a glance towards one subtly squirming alumni in the circle. “Let us continue. Enzo?”

 He sat hunched over, folded hands keeping his chin up.“ Well…those two did remind me of one thing. I think it’s related. It’s all I got.”

“...Please continue.”

“Alright.”

Enzo was out one day, strolling about with a cigarette in his mouth while ditching class. To ensure he didn’t get caught, he rerouted his path into the forest. It was close by but would still keep him out of sight, so it was a perfect retreat. Right?

Wrong, apparently, at least on this day. While meandering across the dirt, a goddamn skeleton of all things crossed his path. A full skeleton, walking all by itself.

He froze. Blinking, he finally flicked the cigarette ashes and wondered to himself if he should get a new brand.

Then, more sentient bones emerged from behind the trees.

He stood there, watching them while thoughts of ‘what the fuck’ ran through his brain.

The crowd of bones swiveled their heads towards him and paused for several beats.

Then: skeletons attack! They barreled towards him with grabbing hands. He cried out and darted back for the school, but the damn things were popping out of every clean spot on the forest floor.

At some point, he found himself surrounded, and one such corpse decided it would try to seize his arms. Thus, he simply decked the thing in its bony face. Yes it did shatter his hand and yes he did cry about it later. But at the time, he took the opening he got to push the others out of his way, and managed to sprint back to class without further obstruction.

People? In MY computer?? It's more likely than you think!

The following is a fanvertisment and is not connected to the show. ****Yet.*** *Also yes, this is the fourth time I'm posting this because TUMBLR WONT LET ME EDIT SPELLING MISTAKES!

ANYWAY,

Once upon a time, back in 1987, Dire Straits put out this music video for “Money for Nothing”, which, as you know, was a song about wanting my MTV. 

The video was made by two guys (Gavin Blair and Ian Pearson) on a very moody computer. After the video went out, these two guys went to a pub:

Ian: “Hey, we should make a whole show like this!”

Gavin: “Dude, making three minutes almost killed us.”

And so it was decided!🎉

The two guys were joined by two other guys (Phil Mitchell and John Grace) and created the Hub, which then became Mainframe Entertainment. They got even more people, and then they all holed up in this hotel.

They were mad lads with a dream: a whole cgi animated show, and they made it happen a whole year before Toy Story!

Behold! ReBoot!

(Yes that fever dream was real)

Now before I get any of this:

Let me lay this down. If you can’t with the animation of the first season because it was CUTTING EDGE IN 1994, you can close your eyes and listen to it. ReBoot wasn’t just a CGI gimmick. The characters are fully developed, the voice actors are peerless, the plot is sharp, and there’s so many easter eggs that you’ll never find them all.

(And yes the episode "Bad Bob" was the actual catalyst for Fury Road. Look it up)

ReBoot is about what life is like in a computer (in the 90s, because it was the 90s) called Mainframe (because of course it is). People are sprites, the guys that look like 1s and 0s are binomes (which represent 1s and 0s). Bad guys are viruses, and the good guy is a Guardian named Bob, who is a certified cinnamon roll.

In the first season the eps are light and self-contained, mainly because there was constant friction between the Mainframe studios and the Board of Standards and Practices.

They still got away with some pretty dark stuff, like Megabyte (virus) making Enzo (the kid) watch his dog get sliced open (dog got away, obviously) , Dot (sprite) have a hallucinatory breakdown, and the fridge horror of realizing the thousands of worm things (nulls) that plunged off a bridge to their death were actually people.

And Hex's (virus

best girl) scary face single-handedly traumatized an entire generation. 🙂

But busting through a window was a no go, because WhAt If tHe cHiLdReN dID iT tOo?

Anyway, halfway through the second season, ABC cut them loose, so they were like, fuck it, we’re going to start going hard. The story shifted from episodic to arcs and things start to get serious.

Third season the show moved to YTV in Canada, which gave no fucks about shielding the innocent children.

So it got DARK

How dark?

The UK refused to show the entire season, so the audience there had to wait until pirated copies made it across the pond to see how it ended.

Also by 1997, the animation was gorgeous. (Best example of third season animation I could think of that didn't have spoilers)

The show was green-lit for a fourth season on Cartoon Network, but halfway through production Warner Bros took over and the same fucking thing happened.

Because Mainframe was halfway done, they decided not to scrap all of it, but knowing they wouldn't be able to finish it correctly, Mainframe stripped anything that would hint at Season Four's true ending, then left what remained on a cliff-hanger of angst.

FOR 22 YEARS

(It's also why the last four eps of season four seem to make no sense)

And so it was.

Other crap happened, the soul left Mainframe, and its animated corpse spat out “The Guardian Code” in 2018. 

But never say die! The year is (almost) 2024, 30 years later. ReBoot shall rise from the dead, because here come the documentary!!
