"Raising humanitarian aid" is a grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. As long as the blockades are still in place there will never be enough aid for two million people. (UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE to the Gazan's GoFundMe fundraisers to help them buy food and get out of Rafah into Egypt. E-SIMs, food and medical supplies are also essential. Edit 14 6th May '24: I've stopped updating this masterlist so some things, like journalists still left in Gaza and how to support the student protests are missing. I've had to take a step back and am no longer able to track these things down on my own, and I've hit the '100 links per post' limit, but if you can leave suggestions for updates along with links in either the replies or my asks I will try and add them.

Edit 15 10th August: added to Palestinian allies list and reworked the Help for Palestine section. There's been a racist harrassment campaign against the Palestinian Tumblrs that vetted the Gaza fundraisers based off one mistake made by a Gazan who doesn't understand English. If you're an ally, shut that shit down. Even if you donate to a scam GFM, you're only out some coffee money; if everyone stops donating to all the GFMs in fear of scams, those families die.

Edit 16: removed entire section of allied accounts since the liberation of Syria because apparently leftists in the West are unable to both be against the Israel's genocide of Palestinians and Assad's genocide of Syrians. I should have treated the use of "Axis of Resistance" as the Tankie dog whistle it was.

If I see one more comment about Gaza on a post commemorating 80 years since the Holocaust- I will lose it . You’re actively belittling the holocaust and my family’s history.

Don’t call Israelis and Jews Nazis , don’t call us “Zios” and other terms coined by Neo- Nazis.

We don’t need your performative activism after Elon Musk’s salute, if you don’t care about the hostages.

I am asking/hoping/praying that people who are NOT deeply, historically, and legitimately knowledgeable about

the history of the Middle East, Palestine, Israel, antisemitic terrorism, Gaza, Netanyahu, the Palestinian oppression, the two-state solution, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israeli resistance & protest, Palestinian resistance & protest, the West Bank settlements, the Kushners real estate interests, the intifada, post WW2 geopolitics, the Hamas covenant (I could go on and on and on and on and on)��

to please stop posting facile takes on how to stop terrorism and violence between Israel and Palestine.

You are, of course, fully entitled to your opinion and emotional reactions are totally understandable. But unless you have committed your life’s work to the study and remedy of these conditions, you are not qualified to offer (comment/share/repost/reblog/etc.) a constructive take on these matters.

These are two generationally traumatized people surrounded by multiple actors (some bad, some good) entrenched in a terrible, inhumane, and ongoing millenial conflict rooted in geographic claims and religious fervor. Some of these actors want to fully annihilate the human beings they oppose.

Your passionate plea for this or that while claiming an understanding of who caused what and when is 100% guaranteed to be oversimplified and misguided. You don’t know what in hell you are talking about if you think what needs to happen next is that obvious — or even the BEGINNING of a solution is that obvious. The history and circumstances involved here are shockingly complex. Seeing these self-righteous, ideological takes on social media only creates anguish in the hearts of those being harmed.

Please direct your energy toward compassion for the millions of innocent human beings, regardless of nationality or identity, who will suffer because of the insanity of corrupt and violent “leaders.” Any solution(s) must begin there anyway.

If you are interested in learning more, you might begin with the book “From Beirut to Jerusalem” by Thomas Friedman. I recommend this book mostly because you will QUICKLY realize that you are ill-qualified to claim an understanding or knowledge about these events from what you think you glean from takes on social media or the news. Even seemingly well-informed parties are not good sources when you lack broad historical context.

I’ve lived with varying degrees of exposure, study, and understanding of this experience my whole life. And I still don’t understand or know how to stop the cycles of violence and terrorism in this region. What I know for sure is that my heart is broken for everyone and people’s ignorant posts and comments are not helping.

The Battle of Dorylaeum took place during the First Crusade on 1 July 1097 between the crusader forces and the Seljuk Turks, near the city of Dorylaeum in Anatolia. Respectfully, Evan, touch some grass. I do not care who you are at all, I care that you're spreading misinformation and antisemitism. I told you who I am as it's relevant to my points, and because you write shit like "Who your grandparents were does not give more legitimacy than experts who have done decades of research and agree Israel is a genocidal apartheid state, including some who are descendants of Holocaust survivors.'

My grandparents' recollection of the holocaust grants me the insights I have on it. I'm surrounded by these survivors. You need to stop making assumptions. This brings me to the main issue here: how you view the holocaust and your lack of knowledge. You simply don't know as much as you think you do while trying to quiz me. Are you an expert? Obviously not. Also, what is that random YouTube search supposed to demonstrate?

And regarding your worst take here: "Jewish people weren't the only victims; they do not have a monopoly on discussing the Holocaust, and it's borderline denialism to imply that." H U H ??? I never claimed otherwise. I am aware of all of the different symbols shown in that screenshot.

Anyway, here are some mistakes you made while trying to educate me on my own history:

The word "holocaust" is specifically used to describe the massacre of the Jewish people during WW2.

-Judaism is, in fact, an ethnic religion. The ethnic part matters, and the fact that over 96% of Jews are Zionists is very relevant to this conflict for reasons I've already stated.

-While black people were viewed as inferior as part of the Nazi race ideology, they were barely persecuted as part of WW2... Only dozens in comparison to MILLIONS of other persecuted groups (remember those?) because it was 1940s Germany ...

-Again, Zionism isn't a "project", it's an integral part of Judaism. It's in our prayers, wedding ceremonies, holidays... It's not a new idea: Jews have been dreaming of returning to the land of Israel since their first-ever exile from it. And so they did return multiple times over the last millennia.

The situation in Syria has nothing to do with Israel.

In case you don’t know, syria and Israel share a border. Last week, Syrian rebels overthrew Assad’s dictatorship regime. It is unknown whether the rebel forces will attack Israel, as they are not big fans to say the least… they simply took advantage of Israel taking down Hezbollah, an ally of Assad and another Iranian proxy.

And so, Israel moved some units to the **empty** Syrian side of mount Hermon this week, in order to strengthen their defence against jihadist Syrian forces that are a part of the Syrian rebellion .such as ISIS.

That’s it. Saying anything else is just spreading misinformation. No , Israel isn’t supporting or funding the Syrian rebels. And no, Israel isn’t doing anything illegal by doing this.

Child's Writing Exercises and Doodles, from Egypt, c. 1000-1200 CE: this was made by a child who was practicing Hebrew, creating doodles and scribbles on the page as they worked

This writing fragment is nearly 1,000 years old, and it was made by a child who lived in Egypt during the Middle Ages. Several letters of the Hebrew alphabet are written on the page, probably as part of a writing exercise, but the child apparently got a little bored/distracted, as they also left a drawing of a camel (or possibly a person), a doodle that resembles a menorah, and an assortment of other scribbles on the page.

This is the work of a Jewish child from Fustat (Old Cairo), and it was preserved in the collection known as the Cairo Genizah Manuscripts. As the University of Cambridge Library explains:

For a thousand years, the Jewish community of Fustat placed their worn-out books and other writings in a storeroom (genizah) of the Ben Ezra Synagogue ... According to rabbinic law, once a holy book can no longer be used (because it is too old, or because its text is no longer relevant) it cannot be destroyed or casually discarded: texts containing the name of God should be buried or, if burial is not possible, placed in a genizah.

At least from the early 11th century, the Jews of Fustat ... reverently placed their old texts in the Genizah. Remarkably, however, they placed not only the expected religious works, such as Bibles, prayer books and compendia of Jewish law, but also what we would regard as secular works and everyday documents: shopping lists, marriage contracts, divorce deeds, pages from Arabic fables, works of Sufi and Shi'ite philosophy, medical books, magical amulets, business letters and accounts, and hundreds of letters: examples of practically every kind of written text produced by the Jewish communities of the Near East can now be found in the Genizah Collection, and it presents an unparalleled insight into the medieval Jewish world.

I've always wondered how many centuries you get after you're thrown out of your native home before your indigenous status in an area where everything is named in your language gets revoked.

I'm also very sceptical of the idea that Jews are "white" because a) a lot of us are very obviously Latine, brown or black; b) "whiteness" is a category that is only grudgingly extended to people of non-Northern European descent when they are scared of browner people than the Irish and Italians who weren't considered "white" 100 years ago; and c) all white supremacists hate Jews.

I don't think that the war crimes Israel is committing in the Gaza strip right now are okay.

I also don't think that it would be okay for the surviving members of the Ohlone nation to throw me out of my house and carpet bomb San Francisco, but that doesn't mean I don't think the Native Americans who lived here once are no longer indigenous people.

It means that I think throwing people out of their homes and carpet bombing places where a lot of people live is wrong.

It’s maddening to find out that the scholar who first developed the idea that “Zionism is Settler Colonialism”, Fayez Sayegh, was a member of the Syrian Nazi Party during and immediately after the Holocaust, was an active participant in the Red Scare, using it to demonize Israel as a manifestation of a Global Communist Threat™️ through the height of the Cold War (true to his Nazi roots, accusing Israel of Judeo-Bolshevism) before switching to a Colonialism narrative when Post-Colonialism came in vogue in the 60s. And yet, the people I hear parroting the talking points of this anti-Communist, Ultranationalist Fascist-turned-scholar are the people who are constantly talking about how Liberal Progressives aren’t Communist enough and actually enemies because “Liberals will always side with Fascists”. Maddening.

If you’ve ever noticed how the “Zionism = Settler Colonialism” narrative eerily shares the core components of the far right’s Replacement Theory (that there are 1. Jews 2. conspiring to invade a given place and 3. replace the population with Jews), this is why; it’s because the idea that Zionism is Settler Colonialism came from a literal Nazi.

It is very literally Nazi propaganda.
