pure what are your top 5 favorite ichisaya moments
5. Masaya's last moments before his sacrifice
When Masaya just takes a moment to hold Ichigo close, run his fingers through her hair, hug her and pet her and be with her for a little while longer.
Masaya's never felt very attached to his life. He always felt like the world would be better without humans, and he included himself in that when he spoke. I think some part of him was always subconsciously ready to give up the ghost and hand himself off to Deep Blue.
But here, in this moment, where he's about to sacrifice his life to heal the earth in a similar way to how he's always thought he should, he hesitates. He's found this precious feeling he wants to hold dear. He's scared to die for the first time, because for the first time, he feels like he has something to lose.
But he'll do it. For her. He just wants this last moment.
And afterwards, even as Deep Blue tries to claw back control, Masaya holds back a god and either kills himself, or holds them down to let Ichigo finish them off. And he dies with a smile, because at least he knew her, at the end of it all.
4. Masaya encouraging Ichigo to fight in A La Mode
Masaya had a character arc throughout Tokyo Mew Mew about how scared he was when Ichigo put her life in danger to fight. He went from worrying about how she's holding up out there and feeling utterly useless to do anything, to unlocking Blue Knight to protect her, to fully awakening as Blue Knight and vowing to fight by Ichigo's sides as equals who uplift and support each other.
And now, when Ichigo's powers are slowly coming back to her after they've both died and come back to life for each other, Ichigo is the one who's worried that she's not sure what she can do, for her friends or for the Earth.
And Masaya pulls her aside, and reassures her that he knows she's strong. There's plenty she can do, and the others need her. He trusts her to fight, believes in her power and her might, knows that she's strong enough that even if they have to part ways right now, they'll still find each other when he comes back for her.
He helps her remember her strength at her lowest moments. He helps her awaken this confidence she deserves.
3. Ichigo and Blue Knight fighting together side-by-side
This one doesn't really need a full analysis to go with it.
They're a power couple, and probably the two most powerful beings in the entire verse of Tokyo Mew Mew, and I love that for them.
2. The confession in the rain
Classic moment, beautiful in all forms.
Ichigo's run all this way in the pouring rain. Her phone is broken, the concert is practically over, she's so late that she's sure he's already left. She's terrified that he'll hate her forever.
But Masaya's there. Masaya stood in the rain all night, for hours, waiting. Because he told her they'd meet there, and he was worried about the fight at the tower, but all he could do right now was wait for her.
We get to see Ichigo's determination, her raw emotions, her conflict in her double life. It's so good to see just how overjoyed Ichigo is when this finally goes right, and she finally gets to hear him say that he loves her. She's been through so much all day, she deserves this joy.
We even got to see the emotions in this scene broken down from both their perspectives, and it's just... perfect. Every moment of it.
And it's even better in Tokyo Mew Mew New, because in that one, Masaya notices the ears and expertly plays dumb by placing a handkerchief over her himself! That added touch elevates an already awesome scene to new heights!
1 Ichigo taking the lead in Tokyo Mew Mew ReTurn
This is a culmination of Ichigo's character arc.
She's confident, straightforward, knows she's powerful, knows what she wants.
She's passionate about the earth, and proud of her passion and love in all departments. She's not deterred or embarrassed by the cat ears and tails popping up anymore. She knows who and what she is, and she loves it. She's found this amazing depth of self-actualization and self-love, and it shines in this little moment.
Masaya is afraid of things changing, but he sees this, sees how Ichigo has changed and how happy she is for that growth, and suddenly, his fear of change is abetted. Because in whatever ways they change, whatever the future holds for them, they'll just come closer and closer together.

Tokyo Mew Mew New is done and what are my thoughts? I think it’s better than the original and I LOVE the original, it’s one of my favorite magical girl shows and introduced me to the genre. I also rewatched it while this was airing to get a better feel on the simulators and differences
Almost every single problem I had with the original has been addressed in New
The mews were more characters then the stereotypes they were in the 2002 show, Mint and Ichigo especially. Lettuce got some of very concrete development along with Mint who reached her goal. The ending felt more solid to me. Masaya finally was the character he was meant to be and what a difference! It’s amazing how bad the 2002 anime did him seeing this.
More detailed and in depth analysis under the cut but if tldr
In almost everything so let’s get to it
-I fully admit I didn’t like Ryo in the OG he felt like he took screen time solely to make a love triangle. Could have focused more on how he felt about the other girls, the project, his goal. They did that. Here Ryo took responsibility for his actions and felt guilt over putting the girls in this mess becoming more than part of a love triangle (and even that was toned down a lot) which is ironic because yes he did get less focus and I would understand why Ryo fans would prefer the OG don’t blame them at all especially if they’re shippers. He got a lot more content in 2002. But I finally got what I wanted from him; responsibility
-Zakuro of all the girls got the shaft for sure I wanted to see her past like the rest but the more equal footing with Mint? Good shit, I love equal ground in things and they finally sold me on Zakumint too. In 2002 it just felt like unhealthy idolization on Mint’s end. I like how Zakuro loves and cares about her friends too and even wanted them in the video with her to show the real her. It's no longer just Mint idolizing her while she does her own thing, she feels connected to Mint too. And I LOVED how Mint was her reason for joining. They were cowards for not canonizing Zakumint after all this because it was 100% the parallel to Ichisaya
-Speaking of Mint while I do like the environmental push they gave her in this one I do miss the ballet aspect and imo her transformation was nerfed probably the one one I'd say worse then 2002 but I would throw that away any day for the character she was in this compared to the rich rude stereotype she was in 2002, very 90’s. She was of course friends with the Mews there but she actually felt closer to this group compared to how she used to be. However she was also one of the biggest character changes so if you really liked 2002 Mint I can see you not liking the Mint she is here, I’d say the most striking character change of the girls from 2002 is her.
-Lettuce! I adored how she picked up on the emotions of Deep Blue and how she had her little romance arc that was meant more for growing her character and left her open ended, don’t get me wrong I now like Ryo with her, good job New, but the point was show her growing confidence. Along with her going back to the museum and her episode there about alien society in the past I loved it all.
-Pudding and Tart felt the most similar to their og selves so I don’t have much to say on them they cute though
-Pai also felt the most similar up his og and then the ending took a turn; that put him too above og Pie for me, liked that a lot more then killing Tart then sacking himself. His whole life was dedicated to restoring his planet. He was told Deep Blue was the one to do that. And then Deep Blue who he put all his hopes on changed his mind it’s very easy to see why he acted the way he did. And it was a really neat parallel to Ichigo snapping and turning on her friends when Deep Blue first appears. Deep Blue just brings the worst out of you huh? No wonder he was seen as some kind of god.
-And even Deep Blue! At first I was miffed he wasn’t a psychopath and just kind of there while Ichigo had her own mental battle but when you find out why…he’s just a normal guy er alien. Yeah he doesn’t like humanity and blames them for destroying the planet but that’s it. He’s not out to get ultimate power or anything like that he just feels at war with humanity and wants his home back for his people. But through Masaya experienced the same feelings and thoughts resonating with Ichigo’s emotions on how things could change and shockingly seemed willing to work things out. Which probably would have ended with dying to release the Mew Aqua anyway but…Pie sped the process up. And I loved this I loved there was actually no true big bad it’s very different from even the manga but the true evil is selfishness toward the environment, cherish the planet work to protect it; all planets.
-Mayasa is my new second favorite character (Twas originally Zakuro but now she's 3rd), but others have said better so I’ll just say 2002’s main issue was taking away his character he’s a huge multi dimensional character all with reasons for how he is but because this was the early 2000’s and following on tropes he was just the typical “pretty boy” love interest, to parallel Ryo being the typical “bad boy” love interest. And it’s a goddamn shame, I enjoyed him in the manga but seeing him in motion really allows you to get into him and see him for who he is. Dislike is fine but if you still hate Masaya after this and call him bland bread and boring (I lived through the 2002 fandom I know) when he’s gone beyond that; you’re probably a bitter shipper and should try to see beyond that. Also this face was gold
-Ichigo my fav my beloved! Had an arc! Before she was your typical magical girl protag and there’s nothing wrong with that she’s a cute cat girl; what more do you need? She was still very much a duo with Masaya so if you don’t like that that didn’t change. What did though was her growing into becoming a Mew Mew finally deciding she was happy it happened then turning to wanting to be useful wanting to find out her future while everyone else around her figured it out. And her answer? She doesn’t know and that okay there’s things she wants to do, lots of ideas she has on everything she wants to accomplish but she hasn't picked yet
She even gained two more ideas at the very end
But she has time to decide on all of them because:
That’s a really good and wholesome message. If we do get a adaptation of ala mode since she stuck around I could see her mentoring Berry now while still working on figuring out her future. It's a more subtle form of development then say Lettuce or even Mint but it's there and appreciated.
Okay that was all I liked, now for what I didn’t.
-The pacing did suffer a bit a times like Ryo’s backstory feeling rushed or Pudding and Tart feeling like enemies to lovers on crack with so few episodes with more it could have been drawn out longer for sure. But really most of my issues could be fixed with more episodes
-There’s also the idol segments normally it was fine but it really took me out in Puddings episode
-I still don’t like Kish, if you like him more power to you I have no idea how you feel about this version but it’s been three iterations now and he still gets on my nerves; sorry Kish. The one thing I wanted was why he likes Ichigo and still don’t know that maybe if he didn’t start out liking her immediately? Dunno but he’s the only one my feelings didn’t change on at all, so felt like I had to note it. I do think if you ship Kishigo you're going to prefer the 2002 no epic scream in this one
-Cat Ichigo was cuter in the 2002 (this is a nitpick)
Anyway! Just because something is a classic doesn’t automatically mean it’s better all the time. I keep hearing how the classic is untouchable and…it was an anime made to sell toys, I hope you don’t think OS Pokémon is the greatest thing ever too lol. It’s just a different take from a different time this isn’t like comparing a soulless Disney remake. This was made both with and as a tribute to Mia Ikumi and I think it shows.
All are good but as for me if I’m ever introducing a friend to tmm this is going to be my go to
Red haired Mew Ichigo will be my choice every time.
#Tokyo Mew Mew#Tokyo Mew Mew Mew#tokyo mew mew reboot#analysis#tmmn spoilers#you know since I talk about the whole thing#this is really long and rambly I don’t expect anyone to read this#but I had so many thoughts and emotions tm#hmm *looks at my image choices* maaaaybe I should do a full blown Ichigo analysis in the future#if you still prefer the 2002 and it's not a reason I hit on tell me why! I'd love to know

Ughhhhh, I'm feeling absurdly melancholy about OF and BostonNick this afternoon, when I only came into this show for a good time. I watched QaF and The L Word, I know the melodrama and how things can turn on a dime, I wasn't really expecting anything less, it's just ...
Boston and Nick were the relationship I was most interested to see in this show, and with one episode left, and the specter of Boeing looming over that, I'm just left with this impending sense of wasted potential. These two characters have had the outline of an amazing arc, where they worked their way through a lot of shit - their own and other people's - to reach the point where they may actually be the least toxic couple right now, but it's been a bare-bones presentation. I feel like the audience has been left to do the work of sussing out a lot of subtextual stuff about the characters and their relationship, left to extrapolate a lot of what's been going on - which, fine, that kind of thing is my jam, and if it was a shorter season, like Moonlight Chicken length, and we were doing this with all the characters, ok. But this is in contrast to the sometimes excruciating detail we've gotten on other characters and relationships as they've run around in circles, sometimes enacting the same drama repeatedly.
I mean, is this a metatexual thing? A storytelling device? Am I supposed to be as tired of Top and Mew going back and forth as I am? Am I supposed to be dreading the amount of screentime it looks like Sand and Ray are going to suck up in the last episode having manufactured drama over Boeing when what they really need to be focused on dealing with is whether Sand's lifestyle is at all conducive to Ray's recovery and sobriety - because it's not just the plum wine business?
Am I supposed to feel like Boston and Nick seem to have been pushed to the outskirts, turned into an afterthought? Don't get me wrong - Mark and Neo continue to eat their scenes alive when they're actually allowed on screen, but like I've said before, it's a good thing they're as talented as they are, because in lesser hands, Boston and Nick would have absolutely been drowned out at this point. They're lucky to get six minutes of screentime, tops, each episode.
I realize I'm at a disadvantage here, because I went into this without investment in the two branded pairs, who are almost certain to not only get screentime but to end up together because, well, branding - even though I can't see what it would hurt to one time have at least an open ending. I honestly don't care, at this point, what happens with Top and Mew, that's how done I am with their interminable push-and-pull. The smartest thing Top ever said was "Maybe we need to stop doing this," before he let Mew pull him in again. But whatever. I do think that a more honest, organic ending for Sand and Ray needs to deal with the fact that Sand's lifestyle - both now and the one he projects for himself in the future - is going to be really difficult for Ray, and that maybe the most caring thing Sand could do for Ray, at least right now, is let him go so that Ray can be in a healthier environment, at least during active rehab, and Ray needs to come to terms with that decision.
Meanwhile, I'm looking at my unbranded pair of actors, who've been given limited screentime for the audience to actually invest in them, who are difficult characters anyway - particularly Boston - who likely are the show's only chance at a pair not ending up together and are therefore almost by default the pair most likely to end up separately as a sacrifice on the altar of "realism," and who now have Boeing hanging over them in literally the last two minutes of the game. And I'm bracing myself. Boeing, diaboli ex machina, either literally out of nowhere, or as a complete surprise because we haven't been given any sense - throughout 11 episodes of Top's childhood fire trauma and Mew's moms' cafe and Sand's numerous side hustles and Ray's taste in music - that there's any preexisting connection between Boston and Boeing, unlike with Top or Sand and their triangle drama that's been repeatedly mentioned. And maybe that's more storytelling device, Boston the enigma, Boston who we don't have access to metatextually the same way the people around him don't have access to him within the narrative, but as a viewer, it reaches a point where that's just frustrating and unfulfilling. And I'm only fan-wanking that it's an effect they're actually trying to achieve in the first place, giving them a benefit of the doubt, when it's maybe just as likely that they just haven't bothered to spend the time that they have with other characters.
So here we are, bottom of the ninth, and here comes Boeing, and I'm bracing myself.
And maybe feeling a little bit of anticipatory grief for what could have been.

I really liked the Ahsoka show but it also felt kinda weird to me idk what did you think of it?
I have the same feeling as you, anon. Overall I liked the show, but I didn’t love it. There was a lot going on mythically/symbolically, but it didn’t all land narratively for me.
First of all, there was a big Lack of Backstory™ problem going on through the whole thing.
There was a lot of telling and not nearly enough showing. Ahsoka and Sabine are supposed to be the emotional heart of the story, but we don’t know anything about their history besides vague references.
We see in the first couple of episodes how much Sabine loves Ezra, but the general audience doesn’t have a clue who he is and once she finds him, it’s just business as usual. Their hug was great but for those who don’t know their backstory (and even people who do), it doesn’t really hit emotionally because there wasn’t enough time spent on showing their relationship in live action and them getting to know each other again after a decade apart.
We didn’t learn anything about why Morgan is so desperate to bring Thrawn back despite the fact that the Empire eradicated her people. We didn’t learn anything about how they knew each other before he was yeeted to another galaxy.
We don’t know much about Baylan and Shin’s relationship either. They’re cool and mysterious, and that’s about it. He tells her he trained her to be something more and then decides to leave her on her own in the very next episode to take her place in the new Empire. Why wouldn’t he take her with him if he wanted her to be something more?
I understand that this is part of a larger story, but every season of any show should have solid character arcs that tie into their series character arcs. I just personally didn’t feel like the character arcs were developed enough this season, largely due to Filoni not delving into anybody’s motivations beyond surface level.
I think having flashbacks between Ahsoka/Sabine and Ezra/Sabine would’ve helped a ton. It also would’ve been a good idea to have a Rebels recap at the beginning of the first episode for those that didn’t watch the show. Kenobi had a Prequel recap that was gorgeously edited and summed everything up before diving in.
As far as the cast:
EMAN ESFANDI IS THE LOVE MY LIFE!!! I adored every single scene he was in, every single mannerism and facial expression he made, his smile gives me butterflies, and his curls are to die for.
Natasha as Sabine was really good, but her character needs work. She didn’t translate nearly as well as Ezra did into live action imo, which is not Natasha’s fault at all. It was 100% a writing problem for me. The first two episodes nailed her character, but as the series progressed she started to flatten out.
Rosario feels really stiff to me. I don’t know if it’s her or the writing or both. I’m not familiar with much of her work, so I can’t really say. She just seemed really apathetic about everything despite her dialogue saying otherwise. I really love Ahsoka, so I hope her live action portrayal gets better, whatever the issue is!
Hera was given crumbs, but MEW absolutely crushed it! I’ve seen a lot of people complain about her portrayal, but I thought it was amazing. I need to see more of her immediately!!
Lars is spectacular as Thrawn, but the writing didn’t quite make him as intimidating as he was in Rebels. I want to see Lars get to chew the scenery in the future!
Other thoughts:
I feel like the Baylan/Shin dynamic is kind of what Maul and Ezra would’ve had if Maul found Ezra before Kanan did. I really hope they expand on that, especially since it was mentioned twice that Ezra is like Shin. It’s super interesting!
I want to know why Thrawn is so pro-Empire without any mention of the Ascendancy. I hope they don’t turn Thrawn into a generic mustache-twirling villain. He isn’t AT ALL, and that’s the main reason he’s a fan favorite in the first place.
I need Ezra to be in every Star Wars project going forward! I can’t wait to see him interact with all the other characters in the Mando Era!!
Anakin was awesome, but I needed him to have a deeper conversation with Ahsoka considering the last time they each other, he tried to kill her.
I need Leia and Ahsoka to interact, or at least a reference that they know each other! Ahsoka telling Luke and Leia about their parents (especially their mother) is really important to me!
Jacen is the cutest! Ezra and Jacen are going to be the most cinnamon roll master and apprentice duo of all time!!
PISSED THEY CUT BEFORE HERA AND EZRA COULD HUG!! WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL!!!
WHERE IS ZEB?? IS HE SAFE?? IS HE ALRIGHT??
#Damn this got long lol#star wars#ahsoka series#ezra bridger#sabine wren#hera syndulla#jacen syndulla#ahsoka tano#thrawn#dave filoni#shin hati#baylan skoll#anon#star wars rebels

Top 20 Animes of 2022
Sorry I skipped last year. Trust me I was watching I just didn’t feel motivated to make another list. However this time I am, but little longer. That’s right it’s 20 now. Plus I added my reasons too. Enjoy.
1. Dance Dance Danseur
Captivating characters, beautiful animation and intriguing story. I really fell in love with this one I went far as to read the manga translation AFTER episode one and continued while the anime was airing. I love how Jumpei over came the toxic masculinity to pursue ballet. His love for ballet really is inspiring. You can see the joy in his eyes. Plus I love Jumpei and Natsuki’s chemistry there’s more of them in the manga. I really do wish the manga would get serialized here in the USA and for Mappa to do another season.
2. Sasaki and Miyano
Cute sweet wholesome BL love story I LOVE MY BABIES. If I had to pick a favorite couple of the year it would be Sasaki and Miyano. AAAHHH I couldn’t stop smiling watching this anime it’s good for the soul. Even if you’re not into BL this is the most safest to watch. The anime version of Heartstoppers.
3. My Dress Up Darling
Cute fun wholesome and sweet romance blooming in front of you. Marine is such a joy no doubt my best girl. Goujo’s passion for hinadoll is inspiring. The animation is so pretty especially when they smile. This really did made me proud to be an anime fan. I can’t wait for more of Marine and Goujo.
4. Blue Lock
Out of the ordinary sports anime with some wild and intense animation. Forget about friendship and team work. It’s all about being an egoist survival of the best striker. I really love the characters. BTW I was watching this before the World Cup started and during it really was life imitating anime. Until Japan lost to Croatia. Root for them next World Cup. I can’t wait for more I probably will reading the manga.
5. Demon Slayer Season 2
I laughed cried and screamed. This season was full of emotions plus I felt like I was watching a movie. I love Tanjiro’s growth this season, Uzui was a badass he really is so cool. Nezuko was amazing. Daki and Gyutaro got me heartbroken. Zenitsu and Inosuke were unstoppable everyone really had a fantastic moment.
6. My Hero Academia Season 6
A whole lot better than season 5. A few nip picks here, but it didn’t bother me too much. I really did enjoy this first half. The voice acting was phenomenal and I was just so happy to see my favorite parts of the manga finally animated. Deku is a beast, Bakugou got me screaming, Shouto I want to hug him. I super excited for the next arc.
7. Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie
Cute and funny anime to watch. The moments with Shikimori, Izumi and their friends made me love this anime more. Who said a girl can’t be cute and handsome. BTW Hachimitsu is my spirit animal I love her.
8. Raven of the Inner Palace
The magic in this anime was pretty. The characters were fascinating, I love the Chines setting. Shouxue bring peace to the dead was uplifting. Plus I love Shouxue development she deserves the friends she has made.
9. Urusei Yatsura
The return of the original waifu Lum. I only watch a few episodes of the original anime they were pretty funny and the remake so far is fun to watch. I can see why Lum is so lovable.
10. Love Live Superstar Season 2
Between this one and Nijigasaki I like Superstar’s story more. Plus the series has broken some Love Live traditions. Liella really is a group you should be watching. Magaret and Lanzhu from Nijigasaki are queens. Love Live keeps on innovating new barriers.
11. Attack on Titan Final Part 3
Had me on the edge of my seat. Eren is a freaking beast I couldn’t believe this season it was shock after shock. I can’t imagine how this is going to end. I can’t handle anymore deaths.
12. Kaguya sama Love is War Season 3
Cute and super funny season. Ishigami had me proud like a mama. Miyuki and Chika’s rap was the best. Kaguya finally admitting to herself she loves Miyuki was so sweet.
13. Tokyo Mew Mew New
Another well done remake. I did watch a few episodes of the original anime when I was a kid. So this was kind of nostalgic to me. The girls are so cute I can’t wait to see more of the remake.
14. Mob Psycho 100 Final
A great ending to Mob. After 3 season it really was a joy and emotional journey to watch Mob Psycho 100. I will miss the crazy animation and deep story so much. Thank you Mob for everything a classic that will always be remembered.
15. More than a married couple, but not lovers
To me this was the vanilla version of Domestic Girlfriends. No step sisters, just a love triangle between a guy, his childhood friend and his marriage partner. So many funny and sweet moments. I do ship Jirou and Akari more.
16. Chainsaw Man
Wild and crazy anime to watch. It felt like I was watching a fever dream. I will be honest it didn’t get me hyped as the manga fans expected. But it was great to watch. It’s only the beginning though I do hope it gets another season.
17. Spy x Family
Funny cute and little suspenseful. It did felt like the Loid and Anya show though I do wish we got to see more of Yor’s assassin work too. The heart warming family moments really did touch my hear. Again family doesn’t always have to mean by blood.
18. Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting
Another cute and wholesome anime. Kirishima acted more like a big brother to Yaeka who knew a killer yakuza could have a heart. Family doesn’t always have to mean blood.
19. I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss
Another otome isekai, but it did felt rushed I wished it was more slowed paced. I love Aileen and Claude’s relationship they are so cute. At least they had a happy ending.
20. Shine Post
Such an underrated idol anime. Probably because Love Live was airing around the same time. Love seeing each girl’s reason for being an idol and how much they want to achieve their dream. BTW Rio has the best voice.
HAPPY NEW YEAR SEE YOU IN 2023 !!!!!

Is there one thing about ofts that you point to and say: yeah, they nailed that!
I mean, they nailed slutshaming real hard.
But in terms of the positive? It's mostly either single scenes or shorter storylines. I feel like the big characters arcs that they tried to do inevitably fell apart.
I really did love how the show handled Ray's breakdown after finding out that Sand turned down his father's money. That was amazing and really pulled at the heartstring and was so, so well done.
I loved how Boston's separation of romance and sex was treated. Also gorgeous even if it ended poorly. He was clear, he communicated well, he was honest and open and I loved him even more for it than I did before and that was hard.
I loved the scenes where Top was finally working at getting over Mew. When he told Mew he preferred to sleep alone? Goddamn. That scene is mine forever, even if it was ruined mere minutes later.
I adored the mess that was Boeing trying to seduce Mew away from Top. That was glorious and I wish it had gone farther, started earlier, that it had been a real threat to their relationship and not just a cartoon joke instead. But the first part of it was so good. It was amazing.
I loved Nick and his nasty4nasty attempts at love that didn't work out for him because he was trying to love someone that just wasn't right for him and that's okay and I just wish it hadn't ended with telling Boston he'd be better alone but I also understand that Nick was hurt and struggling at that point as well.
I did enjoy a good deal of the show. I just found myself let down by a lot of the ending.
(Also, Ray is possessive boyfriend era was darling.)

My 2023 Anime Watchlist
Anime (and related media) I've watched this year
Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2 (2023)
Second (and final?) season of the Tokyo Mew Mew reboot! Always here for some good magical girls! I never finished watching the original series, so it was nice to see how the story goes. I wouldn't call it amazing, but it's a cool series. I wish they would make a third season for the A La Mode arc which came out later, but it seems they might be ending it here, Idk (I've never read the manga either)...
Subs since there's no dub.
Saint Seiya: The Beginning a.k.a. Knights of the Zodiac (2023)
Live-action movie adaption. Would I watch more if they do it? Yeah. Was it good? Not really... I'm not saying it's horrible, but eh, it was weak. The absence of 3 out of 5 boys is definetely felt. I mean, I didn't expect much of it, so it's not like I was dissappointed! ^^' I'm a SS fan, so I was in to see what they cooked.
I watched it dubbed at the cinema (there wasn't a subbed session but it's fine!).
One Piece: The Series Season 1 (2023)
Live-action adaption of the first arc. My first contact with the franchise! Charismatic group, the power of friendship, adventure in a new world, fun pirate crews... I loved it. Still pondering if I should get into this giant beast of an anime. It's just...So long. Never-ending. I'm sure I would like it but dear lord, is it long. Anyway. For now I'll content myself with waiting for the second season.
I alternated between dubs and subs! I think I prefer subbed but I wanted to check out the dub and it was also very good.
Porco Rosso (1992)
A Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki oldie! I was keeping an eye out for the Ghibli Fest going on in the US this year and I realized this was the only movie in the list I hadn't watched yet, so. It's definetely not among my favorites, but it was a good movie. A Pig-faced bounty hunter pilot in and adventure through Italy. Needed a little more Gina thought!
Subs cause there's no dub.
Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac Season 2 (2022)
Second season of the 3DCG reboot of Saint Seiya, covering the first half of the 12 Temples arc. It's definetely still way below the classic series, but the battles had quite an upgrade from season 1! Also no time spent on original characters I don't care about :) And of course it's always a pleasure to see the Gold Saints... and the scenes the classic series didn't adapt! I'm glad season 3 is coming next year!
I watched it dubbed (sadly they changed the og cast in my country, but the new one did a good job too).
YashaHime: Princess Half-Demon Season 2 (2022-23)
Second (and final?) season of the Inu-Yasha spin-off sequel. Look, Yashahime has a lot of flaws, but it has its qualities too and personally I enjoyed it. Nice to travel around the feudal era in this world with familiar and new characters. I would watch more but I think that was it? Would definetely want them to make some changes... I heard the manga is different, so...food for thought!
I didn't have access to the dub when I watched s1 but this time I did! (I'm not very fond of parts of the dub, but overall it was good).
Spy x Family S1 (2022) and S2 (2023)
After seeing gifs since last year I finally sit down to watch it! It's cute, it's funny, and it's cool! Spies, assassins, school, AND family shenanigans! Loved it. Bring me more. Looking forward for the upcoming movie and for the s3 announcement.
I watched most of it dubbed but the dub is a few episodes behind the subbed version so I finished season 2 in Japanese.
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning (2023)
I didn't even watch Kizuna but I heard it wasn't necessary so might as well go, specially since they actually put this movie in theaters in my country and got most of the og dub cast... Sadly I wasn't impressed by the movie. I thought it was pretty meh. Could have given more for the group to do (it was mostly about the new character). Anyway... PS: The opening sequence was LOVELY though!!! ^^
Yu Yu Hakusho (1992-94)
I used to watch it back in the day, but never watched all of it until now! Good stuff. Not perfect, but it's a great series!!! Charismatic group, cool friendships, cool big bads, spirit detective shenaningans, youkai, and of course, battle tournaments!
Watched it dubbed, of course (except for the specials, since they weren't dubbed here). The series was in my watchlist for years but I guess knowing there would be "new" content is always a good push, which brings me to:
Yu Yu Hakusho Season 1 (2023)
Live-action adaption of the first 2(!!) arcs. A pleasant surprise! The biggest problem here is definetely that it's too short. There's other flaws too, sure, but still! I had my doubts but turns out I really liked it, overall positive impression. I really hope they make more in the future!
I've watched it twice, once dubbed and once subbed!

Hi all
I’ve seen Ahsoka eps 1+2 twice now and I’d like to share my thoughts on the show.
Warnings: Spoilers for Ahsoka ep1 and ep2, not a fic, contains thoughts/personal opinions and guessing ages
Here’s what I like about the show in general: I like it, and wanna see where it goes.
Overall I’m interested. While I don’t think the show is bad, I definitely don’t think it’s the best show I’ve ever seen. The effects were decent and I loved the sets. I also loved the scores of music—though I don’t think I’ve ever hated the sound design/music for any SW show. The mural looked a little different from Rebels’ version but personally I still think it’s good, though I was hoping for more shots of the whole mural instead of mostly closeups of Ezra. I also liked the costume designs but the only change I would make would be having Ahsoka show up in white robes at the end of ep2 to match Rebels’ finale. I loved that when Sabine’s not wearing her Mando armor, she wears things almost identical to Hera and had a similar hair-cutting scene to Kanan 😍
Now for the story. I think the main story of finding Thrawn+Ezra is great. It’s something I’ve wanted since Rebels’ finale. I also love the new characters introduced. Baylan Skoll, his apprentice Shin (Hati?) stole the show anytime they were on screen. I love everything about them so far. Their personalities, their costume designs (Baylan wears all black while Shin wears more neutral colors and still has her padawan braid) and especially Shin’s unspoken body language has been amazing. I’m super curious about their dynamic, since it seems like any time Shin is unsure, she looks to Baylan. I’m wondering, since Ahsoka and Anakin had a sibling dynamic going on, if they’ll go opposite and make Baylan and Shin have a more father/daughter type of relationship cuz I’ll be honest and say when I first saw them, I immediately thought of Silco/Jinx from Netflix’s Arcane.
I also liked Morgan Elsbeth. I wasn’t sure about her in Mando and because she wasn’t super important like Moff Gideon or something, I didn’t really give her a lot of thought. But I liked her revealing to be related to the Night Sisters and I loved the Night Sisters Temple. I’m also interested in Inquisitor Marrok. I definitely think Marrok is Starkiller but we’ll have to wait and see.
I loved seeing familiar characters as well. Of course Hera, Chopper and Huyang were confirmed to come back from the trailer so I knew I’d love seeing them, but I was pleasantly caught off guard by Ryder Azadhi aka CLANCY BROWN, and Jai Kell. I loved that they got who they could to come back for their characters (Clancy Brown, David Tennant, Lars Mikkelsen). I loved Huyang’s scenes as well and I know some people were on the fence about MEW as Hera, but I actually liked her (though we gotta talk about THOSE CONTACTS). That being said Vanessa Marshall is still Hera to me. Her voice, her character in Rebels, will always be Hera.
AND CHOPPER!!! Need I say more?❤️
Now for what I didn’t like. These will be more specific instances/scenes compared to the show in general since, as stated above, I do like the show.
Of course I noticed the ‘Former Jedi Knight’ in the opening crawl. She was never knighted, just like Luke in the OT.
There is one part I didn’t mention above. Ahsoka and Sabine’s relationship. I get that it’s the first 2 episodes. However, I think it’s really jarring to go from Ahsoka and Sabine being friends in the Rebels’ finale to look for Ezra+Thrawn now to cold and snippy with each other, especially given that Sabine is supposed to be like 30?? And Ahsoka at like 45-47? There was no indication of what happened between them for most of ep1, just that SOMETHING happened between the two until it’s revealed that Ahsoka walked away from Sabine, like she did with Anakin. But this also plays into another problem I have with Sabine. She is Mandalorian and was not force sensitive in Rebels. She had a whole arc about reclaiming her culture and training with the Dark Saber w/ Kanan. There was no need to make her a Jedi. Not only does that disrespect Sabine’s character, it also disrespects the Jedi. The Jedi were originally a religion that was meant to be a safe place for select few across the galaxy born with the connection to the Force. It’s not something to ‘train/work towards’.
Yes, Ahsoka ‘is not a Jedi’ however times when being referred to as one, she does not refute it or say otherwise like she did in Rebels. It seemed out of character for her.
I know some people love the idea of ordinary people/beings being able to train hard enough to gain a connection to the Force, but I personally think that Jedi are those born with the ability. Huyang even says that she sucked as a Padawan.
I also know that Dave Felony has a habit of changing canon but that’s no excuse for poor writing. In fact, I believe he’s been at the head of Star Wars for so long that he’s just gone unchecked about what makes a good story.
Aside from those aspects of the show, I enjoyed it and am interested to see where it goes nonetheless. If you made it this far, thanks for your time.
-Maisy❤️

@shittinggold tagged me to do 10 fandoms, 10 characters, and 10 tags! There is no way only 10 characters are going to come up in this lmao
1. BtVS: Faith Lehane. Does she need anything more written here? No. Just Faith Lehane.
2. Tales of game series: A tie between Magilou Mayvin, Velvet Crowe, and Rita Mordio. Magilou is hilarious but complex, Velvet is the best and by far most complex protagonist in Tales, and Rita is just a nerdy little lesbian.
3. The Witcher (games and books only): Ciri!!! Geralt and Yennefer are amazing, too, but Ciri is just so cool and has amazing development through the books to the end of W3.
4. She Ra: Catra and Entrapta. Catra is another tragic redeemed character and a freaking awesome lesbian cat. Of course I love her. And Entrapta just was the best of all time in s5 like really.
5. Avatarverse: AtLA is Katara and Azula. For literally the opposite reasons. LoK is Asami Sato, who still somehow is called boring. Kyoshi books is Kyoshi, I adored the depth given to her character. Yangchen books so far, Yangchen--a surprisingly manipulative, cunning young lady.
6. Persona franchise: FUTABA. Look, I named the MC Kyou, so she literally said to me “A wild Kyou appeared!” one time. Almost exactly my personal tag. As if she wasn’t already the best little support dweeb.
7. Pokémon: Lucario. I got to know him in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and have been OBSESSED ever since. He’s so tragic and noble. I love that shit. Plus he’s so cool. Best character and best Pokémon.
8. Xena Warrior Princess: Callisto and Gabrielle (very much love Xena too). Callisto was always their best villain and Gabrielle had a fascinating arcing character path.
9. Star Trek franchise: Seven of Nine. Give me all the complex redemption and learning to be human again (her deeper humanity in Picard is CORRECT with her trajectory). She added so much to Voyager beyond being “the hot one.”
10. Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha: Fate Testarossa Harlaown. Once again with tragic characters getting some kind of redemption lol
11 because I feel guilty there is only one guy on this list. Fullmetal Alchemist: I’ve been obsessed with Edward Elric since I was 12 years old.
I don’t have 10 people I can think of, but here’s a couple: @bebopfirefly @metalwarrior22
#hard to limit the number of fandoms because there are so many I love so I kinda picked fandoms a little randomly#a wild Kyouchan appeared#tagged#not tagging all the fandoms and charas lmao

RE Infinite Darkness Could've Been Better
I watched AND rewatched RE: Infinite Darkness andddd it was great! But this is yet another instance where I wish Claire was the MC whereas Leon was the supporting role. Leon is involved bcs it's his job, but Claire got involved bcs she's a journalist trying to get to the bottom of things so if we saw them meet up during Claire's investigation then Leon would tell her details leading to them working together. ANYWAYS I want to comment on all the new characters (That are now dead ☺️) but #LOVED PATRICK he just looks like a wet cat like all the time😭 and he's just doing his best💕 he doesn't like Leon in the beginning for whatever reason I just wish we saw him more in action cuz it's clear that he's an agent maybe not as experienced as Leon but ik he has some sweet moves in him.
Shen Mei was also lovely. RIP Shen Mei you would've loved Ada Wong😪 I felt so bad for her tho bcs she cares for her brother, and she genuinely wanted to bring justice to the victims of Raccoon City and Panamstan ONLY TO GET KILLED BY JASON 😭 I just know how betrayed she felt when she figured out Jason wasn't in the same boat as her like she thought they were in it together💀
now...Jason I like you...but...I HATE YOU. Idk I felt like they were making him too...emo like "it starts with fear then you cultivate it and watch it spread and that's terror 🐺👿" like brooo shut upppp you doing too much 😭 like I think if maybe he tried to speak out in some way or like Shen Mei and he have been secretly exposing bits and pieces of Panamstan and Raccoon City but keeps getting covered up I would see Jason's POV like yes bro! Turn into a BOW and show them!! Like I can see him getting impatient and resorting to that like making Shen Mei and Jason two sides of the same coin, I think their dynamic and character itself would've been more interesting that way. Also, I don't think he would kill Shen Mei bcs to my understanding they've been together for like a long time SO IT MADE NO SENSE FOR JASON TO KILL HER. If you wanted Jason to kill her make it accidental bcs I would think he cares about her since she's been there since day 1. So Leon's character was AMAZING in this series they got his funny and serious side at the same time this is what Degeneration Leon should've been instead of the awkward mewing mess he is in that first movie and I wish that we could've seen that nice back and forth we get with Claire and him since he was more playful in this series also I think that that would've aided their break up scene at the end💔(IK IT WASNT A BREAKUP SCENE BUT IT FELT LIKE ONE DAMMIT😭)
bcs then Claire knows abt the chip and since Leon knows abt her investigation she's under the assumption that Leon would give it to her, but with Leon not giving it to her she almost views him as a bad guy bcs there been through so much trouble to get it and come out alive and he just kind of brushes her off🫤...Okay now CLAIRE I LOVE HER homegirl so good at her job that the government had to kidnap her☺️ there's not much to say just like how passionate and compassionate she is through all of it she's amazing literally can't do any harm I don't have much to say abt her character bcs she doesn't go through and arc but she's just I think disappointed in Leon I really like the line "That outfit doesn't suit you" bcs it has a deeper meaning like in the beginning of it its like haha you look silly😊 to her not recognizing him anymore like the suit represents the government that covered up the RC incident and the outfit doesn't suit the same rookie cop that she met all those years ago😕MAYBE I'm reading too into it but that's my #take all in all it was a great show 5.5/10 I might make more posts abt it but this is it for now

Awww, Mel, thank you!! I'm glad people enjoy my writing and lore~ ^w^ (@purpleflower007 and @oogaboogaspookyman, I see you guys too, thank you so much!!)
I have to agree with Mel on @phlurrii! On top of being a fun chat buddy, their story is so much fun and so emotional, and their art is soft and easy on the eyes, with some amazing design elements! And they have the rather unique inclusion to their story in the form of a character not often (if ever) seen in Mew/two blogs! (I won't say who it is, so you can experience it for yourselves if you haven't yet. :>) Oh, and their side blog for doodles and shenanigans, @meaumania~
If we're talking favorites, of course I have to mention my current king of favorites; @ask-mirage-mews, and the mod of that, @quins-makeshift-menagerie. No, it's not about the Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon special; It's Quin's own unique take on Digital/Mirage Mew and Mewtwo, and trust me when I say you will be in for a RIDE if you check it out! I live by hyperfixations, and I have fixated H A R D on AMM! With the current arc, I have been downright obsessed, and have had to fight the urge to absolutely explode my love all over the place. (But since this is about favorites, I'm taking the chance to shamelessly GUSH.) Quin sometimes posts doodles of the characters on their main blog, along with other neat art, so don't leave that one out~
@mewtales/@askthe-dawsons/@gonebackhome (all from the same mod, Moddy) has some awesome art and characters, as well as interesting storylines! And they too have a blog for doodles in the form of @mew-dump.
While I don't visit their blog that often, I do enjoy @comedydoctor18's characters and generally positive and caring attitude!
And I can't leave out @xxtc-96xx and @mewtwoandme, with their amazing art and humorous posts alongside the stories they're telling!
@greekceltic isn't a Pokeblog, but they have some SWEET art and a highly developed world and characters! I've off-and-on followed their works for years, and highly recommend giving them a peek!
Some blogs that I may not be as obsessive over but still like and appreciate: @lotusmew, @whatifmw, @dxzziie, and @mew-sanctuary!
Special shoutout to the ones who's comments tickle my happy nerves (includes through chat and reblogs). I rarely respond, but trust me, I love reading what you all have to say!
@puzzled-zebra, @the-coments-jester, @snowylilacs81, @kcleih, @aurasoulhikari,@tenshineko01, @martysgachaworld, @oogaboogaspookyman, @thatlazyartist919, @velvet-and-aspen, @raven6229, and (tagback!) @mel-the-pirate! :)
There may be more that I'm not thinking about right now, but thank you all for your amazing stories and kind words! <3
Love train 🚂💖💖💖! Send this to all the blogs you love! Don’t forget to spread the love! 😊
Thank you! I will!
You anons are going to make me cry because of how nice you're being.
Spreading the love train with @xxtc-96xx, @pokemon-ash-aus, @dxzziie, @mewtwoandme, @ask-the-royal-absol
Once again, Anon, thank you

ohhhh in that case please tell me about ur fav poke gen and why :)
Predictably it’s Hoenn!!!
Ironically I completely missed Gen 3 when it was current though. (I was too busy with Yugioh and Tokyo Mew Mew as a kid but came right back to Pokemon as Drew let the door hit him on the way out and DP started, go figure 😔)
I think overall it just hits a perfect stride of building and improving upon the earlier generations but still having a strong sense of identity to it. For the games and the anime! For me, the Pokémon designs are a sweet spot of being creative and recognizable without being too simplistic or overdesigned. The region overall has a charming and laidback atmosphere to it that just fills me with love for the Nature and Possibilities.
And the battle frontier! Berries! contests! (Personally, I think Hoenn had a benefit in introducing contests because they just come off as an exciting new challenge For Everyone, where I feel some other gens contest-like things come across as a lesser, “girly” side quests. I guess like the vibe of a dog show vs a beauty pageant? It’s hard to explain. But knowing both forms of competition take skill and practice but there’s a big divide in how they’re marketed and perceived idk)
That sort of blends into why I like the AG characters too, May has such an amazing arc and is treated as a solid co-protagonist! Her rivals are all so interesting and surprisingly fleshed out in hindsight too! (but that could be the years of picking apart dialogue and individual frames talking lol) Overall I love the dynamic of May and Max and Ash and Brock. They’re a bit of a mess but so genuine and likable as a group 😭
Lots of truth in the trend that whatever gen you like best is probably the one when you were 8-11 years old but oh well! Hoenn has so much going for it, it’s always the top choice in my soul
#I feel like Drew got his own essay somewhat recent enough so I will be more Broad here#anon ask#I want to retire in Hoenn so bad…

Pretty much confirms that Goh is leaving after 136 lol
I'm not happy about it. So I'm gonna rant about it on tumblr dot com.
Goh deserved better. As a character. He got one of the most unsatisfying and rushed conclusions to his goal. The pacing in Journeys was so poor that both Ash and Goh suffered from the effects. It was a chore to get through Project Mew. I'll say it again and again and again. The episodes were scarce to begin with and the new characters were glorified plot devices. Goh's development throughout the series was to learn not to be a loner, and PM was a good way to challenge him... on paper. But you can't expect me to believe he isn't willing to team up with people when he's done it before. With Team Rocket, no less, for far less. And it doesn't really challenge him either. One episode he's antagonistic to the idea, the next he's working flawlessly with Horace and then with Gary. And the problem never gets explored.
This is all an issue with JN's pacing. They have all these interesting ideas and they commit to nothing. It's not just Goh. Ash too, has arcs that on paper sound good but really? They're rushed, spaced out far too much to leave any impact. We get Gengar centric episodes after we've barely seen him in the anime for over 20 episodes or so, and like, where was he all this time? And it's the same with Goh. We got too much Goh focus in the first half of JN and next to nothing in the second. And it hurts his character. Ash's journey through, well, Journeys was lackluster too. The battles were average, he was not challenged much at all, Leon was more built up with lip service than with actual feats on screen... thematically, the battle was not that meaningful in terms of their relationship as compared to Kukui or Paul or even Alain. But the actual M8 tournament more than made up for it, even though it had flaws. The battles were good for the most part (we don't talk about Alain and Diantha), and Ash vs. Leon, while not well built up, still managed to amaze me. The animation, the moment with all Ash's pokemon... and even the Flashbacks with Leon sold me on it being a grand finale battle for the series. It was well written. It was good. The whole M8 tournament lasted about 13 episodes. It made watching Ash's journey through the series worth it.
But Goh didn't get that. He got 2 lackluster episodes that were slow, and oversaturated with characters we don't care about. Let's be real, no one cares about Tsurugi and Asahi. The only ones people care about are Gary and Goh and Horace to some extent. Groudon and Kyogre were clearly to fulfill JN's quota of "showing every pokemon." And Goh's always wanted to catch Mew? He should have more of a reaction at not doing that (unless I missed it, regardless my point kinda stands). He should have had a few moments where he realized Mew needed to be free or something and let it go. Instead, we got bootleg Groudon and Kyogre for half the episode. And just like that it's over. What was the point of learning all that backstory again?
I liked JN. I really did. After Ash vs. Steven, I wrote a whole rant about it, but I still tried to like it. But now? I can't. I see every criticism of JN that I thought was too much and I find myself agreeing with them. It started out so well too, and it just kept going downwards. These episodes solidify that for me. I guess they're good. They're nice. But as a conclusion to Goh's whole arc, the whole 4 years? Lackluster. Poor, shoddy, meaningless. And I say this because I love Goh. I really do. He's one of my favourite characters in the anipoke. Aside from Ash and Pikachu (and Alola), Goh got me into this show. He deserved way better. I saw someone else make this point somewhere, but even characters like Dawn and May, who weren't exactly co-protagonists like Goh was built up to be got so much more. They got 4-5 episodes to their Grand Festivals, May even had 2 tournaments. Goh got done dirty, and now he's leaving, destroying any hope of redeeming his character. I hoped that he would keep going on as a companion, but it was kind of a pipe dream anyway. I knew it wasn't going to happen. I would have been fine with it if his conclusion had been strong and solid. But it wasn't. And as far as the preview says, he's not sticking around. If he does, I'll be over the moon. But he's not. And to see him go out this way is sad. But hey. That's all JN does anyway, one disappointment after another. It just took me too long to realise that.
A meme to sum it all up.
#Pokemon#Pokeani#Anipoke#Pokemon Journeys#Ash Ketchum#Ash#Satoshi#Pikachu#Goh#Trainer Goh#Gou#Trainer Gou#This honestly sucks and I'm tired of trying to defend this shit lol#I don't hate it but I do not like it at all#Here in the tags I will admit that I really just don't want Goh to go (lol)#But him getting a good ending would have made it less bitter#Now it's all just a pile of salt#(If they make Ash and Goh kiss tho I will forgive every sin XD)#(Actually I won't but ssshhh)#(But I'm not opposed to the idea just letting the anime staff know)#(It's all in shambles anyway might as well go the whole way)#My meta

W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
And
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
For the ask meme <333
omg aww @lauwrite1225 @fleurdufeu ty all for the asks!!! also @faeratil bold of you to assume you can retract your challenge just like that, watch me do all of them anyway
A: Ships/platonic pairings that you currently like a lot ok so thanks to @potatoesforsamoo i am simping on main for steven stone and flannery from pokemon which is such an obscure ship but she writes amazing fic for them!! i also love twiyor from spy x family rn! as for platonic pairings i'm obsessed with literally everyone in major. the father-son relationships in that show are EVERYTHING and i love the friendship dynamics so much. in my head i've written over 1 million words of meta about them
B: A pairing that you initially didn't consider, but someone changed your mind franky/nightfall from spy x family... i was a yuri/nightfall shipper for a while bc i thought it would be comedic and hilarious but i saw some art of franky and fiona and honestly it would be the FUNNIEST thing if he had a crush on her. they would be like fix-it felix and sergeant calhoun from wreck-it ralph if they were a couple i think. and i love it
C: A ship you have never liked and probably never will sheith i guess?? i'm trying to think of ships from fandoms im actively in but not sure. anyway yeah whenever i see sheith i'm like ew. not even bc of their familial dynamic, like i don't care who ppl ship or anything go ahead and ship them all you like i just cant see them together. it makes my blood boil for no reason at all. it might be bc i ship klance or smth idk i'm gross
D: A pairing you wish you liked but just can't i guess all the thomas ships in downton abbey but i just don't Like thomas that much and im not very interested in his subplots sorry... it seems like everyone who stans thomas is having a genuinely good time tho and i wish i could be one of them bc im starved for good fic in the dabbey fandom :(
E: Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what? how easily you forget all the memes i made for tlk lmao... as for my current fandom i made this thread summarizing the entire plot of major through memes bc watching the anime made me so mentally ill. if u actually click on the second link tho don't read the tags i beg you... i thirstposted in there and it was bad
F: What's the longest you've ever been in a fandom? i've been in the fullmetal alchemist fandom for going on 8 years now and it's been pretty good. after that i was in the man from uncle fandom for 3 years or so
G: Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? gee it was so long ago but i believe the first ships i ever actually shipped were like kimron and drakkgo from kim possible. the first ship i actually consumed content for was either shirogane and ichigo from tokyo mew mew or yullen from d-gray man i think. if we're talking actual brainrot otps tho then it was stony jdkfsjskfds
H: What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff? oh anime 100%! i watch so much anime its a wonder i haven't magically turned into an anime character already
I: Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why? h*zbin h*tel bc the fandom was toxic as fuck and the show is actually so, so evil...
J: Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr duh it's the gay pirate show and the vampire book club... i'm not in them but they ARE all over tumblr so i have to think about them obviously
K: What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc? JOE GIBSON MAJOR JOE GIBSON MAJOR JOE GIBSON MAJOR!!!!!! I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH WHAT AN INCREDIBLE CHARACTER HE IS!!! MY BRAIN IS SO ROTTED FROM THINKING ABOUT HIM ALL THE TIME OK YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HE MEANS TO ME NONE OF YOU KNOW HIM LIKE I DO
L: Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves ugh... ok aethelwold WAS admittedly really funny sometimes. i hated him but he made me laugh and sometimes i miss the levity he brought to a scene with just his overall existence
M: Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend alice from major!!! she's just so cute and i think we would get along super well i love her <3
N: Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom content, content, and more content. the major fandom is a barren wasteland i hate it here
O: Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of? the first song to come on was if u seek amy by britney spears... idk why but it reminds me of junior from major bc i think he would have the trashiest white girl taste in music i just know he would be belting out an impeccable falsetto in his fancy jag while bumping his hand on the steering wheel. i know it
P: Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas) courtesy of ro i am still thinking about a major au where gibson adopts goro and raises him and junior together with momoko after shigeharu's death to atone for his mistakes. i just want gibson to be a father figure is that so wrong
Q: A fandom you’ve abandoned and why there are a lot of them so i can't really give one answer but like i said, the h*zbin h*tel fandom is so toxic i will never go back
R: Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom? GIBSON AND GORO ARE SO IMPORTANT TO ME!!!! despite their history there was never any lingering hostility or anything between them. they respected each other so much and took so much inspiration from one another and grew as people because of it. like gibson had been so arrogant and almost selfish in his debut eps but he transformed thanks to goro's influence and became such a humble and selfless person like even when he was dying he never put himself first. it was all about keeping his promise to goro, and making up for lost time with junior, and upholding the pride of his country, even if it meant putting his life on the line to do so. and in the last arc of season 5 we saw how he touched the hearts of fans all around the world with his resolve and i think it's so so beautiful
S: Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged) major au where no one dies and everyone is happy that's my personal headcanon right there. bc if shigeharu had lived i actually think he and gibson had such potential for a rivals to besties dynamic like it was all there. in my heart shigeharu lived and he and gibson became reluctant carpool buddies during the little league arc. i just really wish they had been friends that's it. nothing else to see here
T: Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? toshi is so in love with goro it's not even up for debate he is in LOVE with goro!!!! also i think goro and alice dated for a little bit. i just need it to be true
U: Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites roy mustang from fma/b, jaime lannister from game of thrones, and joe gibson from major. they're all war criminals (only emotionally in gibson's case) who are traumatized by the sins of their pasts but later redeemed themselves through their actions thanks to an excellently-written character development arc (in the case of jaime, this was all erased at the last minute. thank you d&d for your service)
V: Which character do you relate to most? KAORU MY BELOVED!!! i too am a spaz who loves sports but can't be normal if her life depended on it and i for one would LOVE to be goro's girlfriend so if she would just hand him over please <3
W: A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom i hate breakup+makeup/divorce+get back together aus i just can't stand the relationship drama smh
X: A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom slow burn mutual pining gets me every time its so basic. but if we are being oddly specific here then it's when a character who's the last person you would imagine to be competent in this type of situation is actually terrifyingly competent and you are So Confused and a little turned on right now like who is this and what have they done with [insert character here]
Y: What are your secondhand fandoms? succession, yuri on ice, she-ra reboot, attack on titan, mdzs and tgcf, and riverdale
Z: Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! uhhhhhh i guess with the new pjo adaptation i'm a bit concerned with alleged racism in fandom spaces now?? so many people are up in arms about annabeth's casting like "you're racist if you don't support this casting!!" like it's not that we don't support it? i love that annabeth will be black in the show! it's great! but... in the books and the movie... she is still... a white character... and maybe... it's not so bad... if people PREFER the books and the movie... so they continue to think of annabeth as a white character as a result... like, it's not erasing black annabeth at all! it's just they will continue to think of annabeth as white bc it's the annabeth they know and love! either way, the character is still annabeth! same source material and everything! anyway that's it, people will probably come after me for this but i just wanted to say it :/
#ask#reply#ask game#fandom ask#lauwrite1225#faeratil#fleurdufeu#mutual#mutuals#yall will be like WHYD SHE DO ALL 26 but i said i would do it so i did. i needed to it was very cathartic

Pokemon Journeys Episode 45 Review
[Image Description: Screenshot of the Pokemon Journeys Anime of Leon and his Charizard facing off against Eternatus]
And now we have the final episode of the Pokemon Journeys adaptation of the darkest episode! I have a lot of thoughts about it
First off, the Team Rocket portion...honestly we could’ve gone without it. I like TR don’t get me wrong, but there wasn’t much point to their screentime other than showcae G-max Meowth
Probably one of the highlights of this episode for me was the Rose vs Ash fight. I really enjoyed seeing Rose hold his own against Champion Ash and give him a bit of trouble with him actually using strategy. I like how this is a subtle nod to the games where one NPC in Hammerlocke states that Rose was a semi-finalist in a previous gym challenge
Also Rose ordering his Pokemon to attack Ash and Pikachu directly? Was not expecting that at all. I mean it lines up with the more unfettered approach they took with his character anime but still...geez..
Lucario evolving? YES! Even though I’m not a huge fan of Lucario as a species, I have wanted to see Ash with a Lucario. Would I’ve preferred to see him with one in XY or DP? Sure. But better late than never. Also the nod to Ash’s own aura powers was a nice touch (the Lucario and The Mystery of Mew fan in me internally screamed
I do like that they added Rose being concerned for his Pokemon though, still showing that he’s not a completely amoral person (like say Ghetsis)
Goh vs Oleana...was not my favorite part. To be honest the way they handled Oleana has been one of my consistent flaws with this arc. Twilight Wings gave her far more justice IMO
[Image Description: Screenshot of the Pokemon Journeys Anime of Goh’s newly evolve Cinderace giving Goh a hug]
Okay but Raboot evolving into Cinderace and going back to his warm affectionate self? That was adorable. 10/10 cute scene
The reunion between Ash and Goh was cute, and I loved seeing how they fanboyed over each other’s evolved Pokemon
Also Leon combatting Eternatus solo with Charizard was pretty badass and it was nice subtle nod to how strong he is a trainer. Although....I would’ve loved to have seen him use Dragapult and one of his other mons, as in game the text implies he used his whole team against Eternatus.
LEON USED AN ULTRA BALL INSTEAD OF A POKEBALL ON ETERNATUS! That was amazing and Anime Leon > Game Leon for that moment
Also I love how Leon shielded Ash and Goh (with his own body) while Charizard protected their Pokemon very nice touch. Again Anime Leon > Game Leon. Like imagine Leon shielding Hop like that in game and Hop having to hold up his brother like Ash and Goh did? The feels are real
Rose looking like a kid pressing their face up to the glass at the ice cream shop was unsettling to say the least. I didn’t mind the mildly crazed-mesmerized look Rose had in the previous episodes, but honestly the shots of him in the helicopter were a little much if I’m being honest
Sonia coming up to the top was a nice touch. Honestly as I was playing SwSh the first time around I thought she would’ve gone up their with us. That would’ve been cool to see.
The reunion between Sonia and Leon was super cute! I liked how it seems like they’ll be on their way to rekindling their frienship. Plus Sonia helping Leon when he was injured was very touching.
The wolves being revived and the final fight was pretty cool. Nothing spectacular as it was kind of like the games with the wolves doing most of the work, but still nice to see
The fact that Rose and Oleana got away is interesting...it seems like they are setting them up for a return.
While it was nice to see Sonia become a professor, I do feel like a lot of her plot was chipped away by the rushed nature of the arc in general
This is going to sound petty (but IDC) but I would’ve greatly preferred that instead of seeing Team Rocket, we’d see Leon recovering from his injuries with Hop coming in to check on his big brother
I really like how they handled the capture of Eternatus with both Ash and Goh teaming up to throw the Pokeball and instead of them keeping it, they sealed Eternatus away (although that does seem cruel to Eternatus, it wasn’t doing anything on purpose).
All in all for me, this was a decent episode. Probably the weakest of the four for me because of all that they had to pack in but it did an okay job.
