Definitely this one. It took me about 12 hours in total to do, if I remember correctly.

I want to hear your thoughts about svet!! How do you think the (bad/misogynistic) writing affected her storyline and character? What would you have changed?

I think her character was written quite thoughtfully up until around S6 when she was trapped behind the bar at the Alibi and essentially reduced to comedic relief. Once Svetlana was no longer in an environment where she was constantly being reminded that her safety and well-being were conditional, the writers stopped treating her like an actual person. Her point of view was sacrificed in favor of Kev and V's, her traumas were treated as a punchline, and she was demonized, cartoonishly, in a way that she wasn't in S3-4.

It's not that she stops being a well-rounded character altogether (Isidora Goreshter deserves most of the credit for this), but rather that the writing does her a disservice by turning everything that she says or does into a joke— even when she's being earnest. When she shares her feelings in therapy, the scene is cheapened by Kev's "She said she gives oral". When she shares that her father used to rape her as a child, the admission is overshadowed by the reveal that Yvon is actually her husband.

The entire storyline with Yvon is designed to make us see her as someone manipulative and untrustworthy— the narrative justifies the way that Kev and V turn on her— all the while failing to acknowledge that Yvon was abusive and coerced her into a sexual relationship with him through threats of violence to her and her loved ones. Scenes where she is speaking in Russian are left untranslated in what I can only presume was an attempt to give the audience the impression that she is secretive and shady.

And in the end she is written out in such a silly way that the tragedy of it nearly goes over your head. But just as she was written in as someone who was at the mercy of the security and stability that other people— namely, men— could provide her, the end of her story sees her being married off to a man old enough to be her grandfather for those same things. And so once again she is dependent on a man in her life for survival.

If I had been in the writer's room, her character would have been treated with the dignity that she deserved from start to finish. Her perspective would have been highlighted, she would have been given grace for her mistakes, and her trauma would have not only been taken seriously, but also explored and delved into. I think there were a lot of different pathways that the writers could have taken with Svetlana, and I would have been content with any one of them, so long as, at the end of the day, she was being written with compassion and respect.

Personally, I would have loved to see her get a green card and no longer have to depend on anyone else for that security. I would have loved to see her have full agency over herself and her body, and I would have loved to see her find a solid support system and family. Svetlana was incredibly smart, incredibly hardworking, incredibly motivated, and incredibly capable. She could have come to own her own business, get a degree, or even just share in the ownership of the Alibi.

Yes, she was hot. Yes, she could deliver a one-liner like nobody's business. But that wasn't all she was good for. And somewhere along the way the writers forgot that.

I had to think about this for a while, which probably tells a lot about my life, so I‘m just gonna focus on fandom stuff (kind of):

1. After many years of buying lots of books and never reading or at least never finishing them, I finally found some books again that I couldn’t put down this spring. And, consistent with the season at the time, I started reading ACOTAR. Ever since then I finished those 5 books, as well as the 3 CC books and I recently started reading the ToG series. As well as some other books…

2. After finishing the books, I dived right into fanfics—which led to me gathering all of my courage and starting to talk to @crazy-ache and now I met so many lovely people who share my love for Elucien and this fandom and who make me smile on a daily basis.

3. Apart from the ACOTAR fandom, I made my past teenage self more than happy by finally seeing the Jonas Brothers live in concert.

I think most stuff has already been shared but there's this one thing that has stuck with me and it's ronen talking about the soulmate scene in 4x16. When TK says "I might not even remember who you are" and his voice breaks? that was all ronen. he shared that he lost his grandmother to alzheimer and one of the things he fears most in life is exactly that, forgetting about the people he loves, so that line would hit him right in the chest and break him every. single. take. and he just couldn't keep it together.

and then he lightened the mood and said you need to be very comfortable with your scene partner to be able to smear tears and snot all over their faces like in that scene lol

I'd say the biggest one is being able to communicate easily with the creator. The Guthries have been super sweet and supportive of fan artists specifically, so it's been so cool to have them react to my art. I've also made quite a few friends that I've met personally, so that feels so good. Lastly, the funny memes! I'm so surprised with how funny people are on this app.

This silly little illustration of John cowering behind Arthur based off of the stream Harlan and Jo did where John and Arthur are ghost hunter streamers on Twitch. I find it incredibly funny.

I just realized… do TOG characters not have middle names?

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius (despite Google saying her middle name is Ashryver I disagree, it’s her mothers maiden name and more of a hyphen) and I really think if she had one she would’ve said it in the whole “I am Aelin Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius” moments

Gosh I ADORE his original outfit from Tales and for now, mostly drew it but, if I have to say in which he looked best,,,

There is a reason why he has this outfit on display in New Tales,,,, like he looks so GOOD in this???? I feel the vest might be a bit of a nod to Handsome Jack but like, him having confidence to show at least a bit of his tattoo is such a power move and I am so sad none of the future versions yet had done that again :((((( but I plan on drawing him more and explore his outfits :]]
