Snippet Chapter 4 Going back to the first picture—the one accentuating the scars on his face—Elain cannot help herself but trace her finger over the lines running from his brow to his chin, wondering about the story behind those scars. And with just that trace of her fingers, she accidentally swipes right … and is greeted with the little chime announcing that it is a match. Only to hear a similar sound right in front of her. And when she slowly looks up from her phone, her eyes fall upon silky red hair, tanned bronze skin, and some rather distinctive facial scars.

Eris x Alexius (Male OC) - I commissioned this piece from @jadedbugart as a special holiday/Solstice gift to everyone who loves Erixius. She did a fantastic job capturing the cozy, festive, and cuddly vibes. Also I adore all the smokehounds! The painting on the wall was such a surprise to me! Check out under the cut for closer looks.

But seriously? What is gayer than having a painting of yourselves riding a unicorn? This made me so ridiculous happy! Jade basically made two paintings in one. She said it was inspired by @bonecarversbestie blob art of the same concept. For anyone not familiar with the lore, Eris and Alexius go on a mission to find unicorns on The Continent in my multichapter fic Pull Me in Deeper.

I love all the details she included. Alexius' jewelry (including his nipple ring and a ring that has the letter E!). The leather bands they exchange in PMID. And PMID being the book he's reading 😭. Their faces are definitely the best part though. Alexius is so cute and Eris has never looked sweeter. He's sleeps like an angel ❤️.

I love the details on the dogs! The three different breeds for smoke hounds is so clever and something Jade totally thought of on her own. I think it gives them distinct personalities. Meet Argus, Vana, and Brom.

I wanted to show a close up of the pajamas too. The pattern is stunning and I love that they match (check Eris' collar). Jade and I came up with a whole lore that Eris was definitely the one to pick them out because it feels old money fancy. And the tops have monogrammed letters.

Thank you so much Jade for making such a beautiful, detailed piece of my boys. ❤️ You were amazing to work with and I will cherish this forever.

I was just thinking.....

Elain's behavior towards Lucien is really not any different than her sisters behavior towards their endgame person at the start of their journey's, at least to me.

Anti's insist it is different because she doesn't have the whole angry hate / love thing going on.

If her behavior does read as different than that difference is a direct result of Lucien.

Elain ignores Lucien because he lets her.

Elain doesn't snark at Lucien because he respects the distance she's asking for right now therefore she's being given no reason to snipe.

Had Cassian or Rhys respected Feyre and Nesta's initial response to them, we would have never seen Feyre and Nesta lash out, we would have never seen them calling them names, telling them they hated them, demanding they leave them alone.

Cassian and Rhys forced Feyre and Nesta to reach levels of anger / hostility (which gave us hints of the enemies to lovers vibe) because they refused to read the girls social cues. Or they read them and chose not to honor them.

I have no doubt that if Lucien were pushy like Cassian and Rhys, we'd see fire in Elain during her interactions with him but because he is respectful, he's not putting her in the position of having to react (like we saw her do with Nesta in SF - when pushed Elain will push back).

Elain and Lucien currently lack heated exchanges because he's such a green flag but rather than embracing him as a truly healthy love interest, so many try to tear him apart or insist that Elain's "disinterest" in him is different than Nesta and Feyre's initial "disinterest" in their mates.

I do think Sarah will move them into the hot zone in their book because there needs to be a breaking point in order for them to finally have it out and to deal with their bond but I just think it's interesting how the conversation from the other side always revolves around Elain's behavior and why it's different than her sisters (in an attempt to prove why she won't end up with him) when the real truth of it all is that it's Lucien's behavior that set the stage for those differences.

We love a respectful king in this house.

I want to see a snippet of Fire in the Sunrise!

That is a good pick I’d say and I really need to come back to this after finishing Flight Risk. Here’s your snippet from the sequel to my first Elucien one shot Love ain’t some magical thing:

While the afternoon has felt like a perfect summer day, this evening turns more and more into a freezing winter night. At least, that is how Elain feels sitting between her sisters at a round table at a local restaurant. It is a nice table in a secluded alcove in the back of the room right next to the wide double doors opening towards the terrace—all thanks to Feyre being their High Lady and obviously getting the best table at every establishment in Velaris—but it doesn’t help to diminish the feeling of living in a fishbowl right now.

The air is still warm outside and even thicker inside the restaurant. It is too warm to wear a stole draped over her shoulders and part of her neck. Elain knows that very well. And so does Nesta, if the cold, calculating look in her sister’s blue-gray eyes is anything to go by. But neither of them said a word—for now, they both let Feyre rant about enjoying a few hours away from Nyx. About feeling like herself again.

Elain won’t destroy that little piece of a safe haven, that sanctuary her sister so desperately needs to not drown in all the new responsibilities of being a mother. Of all the expectations everyone else has of her because of that new role. She can tell by looking at the shadows underneath her eyes, by the smile not reaching them, that Feyre needs this time with just her sisters to decompress. To get back to herself.

And Nesta could probably tell as well. Otherwise, she would have demanded to know what the stupid shawl is about by now. Elain is sure about this.

Midsomer Murders in Paradise

Thank you for asking. This one is a crossover I’m working on for a while now. The title is very telling actually, because it is a crossover between the two British crime shows Midsomer Murders and Death in Paradise. It is also a fake dating, undercover, forced proximity trope with meddling friends/coworkers. And it’s gay.

Here’s a snippet from the prologue:

Upon arriving at their designated hotel, Ben Jones really only wants to hole himself up in his room and not come out until he really has no other option left. And, oh right, isn’t that ironic? The whole ‘coming out until he has to’ thing? This just has to be some really bad prank the universe tries to pull on him. He is positive about that. At least for 99.9 percent.

“Hi,” Sarah greets the receptionist with a wide smile on her face, making Ben a little bit suspicious – and nervous. “I’ve booked two rooms under the name Anderson, thank you.”

Wait, what? Two rooms? Aren’t there supposed to be three rooms?

“Just go with it, Jones,” John mutters right next to him, keeping a smile on his face the whole time. “You’re engaged, remember? It would be a bit suspicious, if you didn’t share a room. And what’s the matter anyway? Two grown men sharing a room?”

Of course, he is right. It shouldn’t be a big deal. It kinda is though. But he won’t show that. Nope, definitely not.

“That’s not my name though, … John,” is the only reply he offers his former boss.

“Excuse my mishap, Ben. Now, how about you put a face on that shows some excitement to be in the Caribbean with your fiancé and future parents in law?” John’s smile transforms into more of a grin when he steps up to his wife to check them in.

Ben really has to restrain himself from making a face behind Barnaby’s back. Though instead he really tries to look like he is about to enjoy some kind of family vacation — not like he is stuck on an undercover op with DS Jamie Winter posing as his fiancé and Barnaby’s son. This can only end in tragedy, Ben is sure about it. How could it be any different?

The hardest part of this WIP is actually having to write two different murder mysteries along side each other.
