What if in MWIII, Ghost and Soap had a conversation about how their relationship was doomed by the narrative
Imagine, Ghost and Soap, outside of the barracks late at night, sharing a cigarette, as it's smoke surrounded them, just them.
Ghost didn't like Soap smoking, he didn't like it when Johnny smoked, it wasn't good for his health. Ironic since he himself smoked.
"Johnny, have you ever wondered if we are ever doomed by the narrative?" A question, but for Ghost it wasn't a question, as most things that had gotten close to him had always been doomed by the narrative, but the difference was it was them that Ghost asked about, not just Soap.
"I don't know, Si, but I'm sure we aren't" Johnny replied, giving Simon a comforting smile, as he held their hands together, fingers interlocking, Soap had always been sure of himself.
Johnny was the light in Simon's darkness, the sun to his moon, the star of his galaxy, he was the center of his universe.
Yet the universe itself was cruel, it took Johnny away from him, it took his light away, his sun, his universe. The narrative had doomed them from the start, always had, as nothing lasts forever.
"Scrooge said that he would see him—yes, indeed he did. He went the whole length of the expression, and said that he would see him in that extremity first."
