I'm not iron deficient anymore!!! :D I just got the blood test results back and for once I had a fixable problem and it is fixed*!!!! *well okay my total iron saturation % is still a little low but the rest of my numbers are in the normal range! Even ferritin!! My ferritin levels have almost quadrupled and are now in the normal range!!! :D

Phlebotomists also have probably the hardest medical job in the context of the technical skill to bedside manner ratio. Like, brain surgeon is a very skilled job, but your patient isn't awake for it so you don't have the demand of being responsible for the patient being put at ease while you're working. For blood draws and infusions though, your patient is awake and most likely scared of needles or blood or somethin stickin out of them, so the demand to put the patient at ease While You Are Actively Trying to Put a Tube In Their Veins is much more demanding in my opinion.

Hey y'all! It's weird question time again! I'm pretty sure this one is a long shot, but do you have any advice for getting bruises to heal faster besides icing them when they start? I am fairly anemic and on corticosteroids (for reasons unrelated to the anemia), and while the combo means the steroids take care of the inflammation around bruises pretty well it can also slow healing a bit, and I somehow managed to bruise the inside of my finger. It's not that big a bruise, just supremely inconveniently located I may or may not also have a black eye forming but that's because I messed up trying to put on my headset for work to answer a call and hit myself in the face with part of the headset. That bugs me less than the bruise on my hand though lol

Been looking at infusion hoodies. They have zippers in the sleeves so you can get the IV in and not freeze in the clinic.

And at first I was sad bc like... damn. This is my life. Im lookjng at infusion hoodies. I'm glad I finally found something like this but damn.

But also, aren't people great that they loved other people so much they have entire product lines for these?

I learned there's shirts that are buttoned at every seam so you can access every IV site or port possible. And they're look nice! It looks really nice! Yeah it sucks that demand is high enough that there's a market but also!! There's a supply! And a lot of options!

I don't know. It's like... it's good to remember. All these infusion needing folks are loved. Even when we feel like shit. We're loved.
