I always forget that KnockOut wasn't originally a ground model but honestly its such a cool aspect to his backstory.
it's also hilarious picturing him having to learn how to drive.
#I am choosing to believe Moonracer met him at the Tracks Post-Op and helped him/gave him tips in exchange for a job as his medical assistant#Transformers#Knockout#Knock Out#Transformers Prime#TFP#AngryComet Rambles#headcannons

ok i have not drawn her yet. but i've been brainstorming my house oc and i have some information:
her name is hen (which is short for henriette, but jeez, nobody calls her that, please don't) and she's freshly 21. PPTH is a teaching hospital - she was in her junior year of college (major in data science and communications) when she got an opportunity to tag along with the med students to attend a few free credits of classes at PPTH. her class was interrupted by one lisa cuddy, cutting things short because of a "certain doctor"-caused disruption. the students shuffled out and in the mix, hen got caught up at the nurse's station, and was handed a folder by a stressed dr. cuddy, who told her to reorganize its contents and have it on her desk before the end of the day. confused, but not one to risk losing the free college credits, hen obliged, and that's how she accidentally found herself hired as dr. cuddy's personal assistant! she splits time at school with time at the hospital and manages a lot of her files remotely.
hen likes her job and her boss, though she knows PPTH is not really a normal hospital - there's often something else going on, and a lot of attention on the apparently prestigious diagnostics department. she's not yet met dr. house himself, but has heard plenty about him from dr. cuddy.
for some fun tidbits, hen is bigender (but really, really nobody knows), collects cassettes, and has hEDS :)
#house ocs#i couldn't pick an actual medical field of study. because i'm not interested in really any of them whatsoever#but you know what i am interested in? communications. you know what i do for my job?#i'm a personal assistant. i handle scheduling and HR stuff as well as event planning and stuff like that#seems simple enough for me

living in america is literally just like. yeah i could probably benefit from inpatient mental health services but honestly the resulting medical bills would just make me want to kill myself even more
#eliot posts#i'm not in active danger of hurting myself don't worry#just experiencing some Ideations#but i have a long mental list of reasons not to act on those ideations so i'm safe don't worry#ironically one of those reasons is ''i couldn't afford the medical bills for a failed attempt''#suicide mention#suicide tw#tw suicide#american healthcare my beloathed#dogshit private insurance my beloathed#also ironically one of the (multiple) contributing factors towards this fresh wave of ideations is a medical bill i got yesterday#it's nothing too ruinous but it is A LOT like would utterly wipe out my savings level#my parents said they can help me with it (as much as i hate accepting things from them)#and as soon as i mentioned it my very sweet cousin just. sent me the money it would take to cover it#with a ''yeah i trust you'll pay me back once you get a good job like looking at your major you'll be making a lot eventually''#and i've already requested an itemized bill as well as the paperwork for the hospital's financial assistance program#(tho idk how much assistance i'll actually be eligible for bc i'm still legally a dependent)#so hopefully i'll be able to get that bill cut way down#it's just eugh it's so stressful and i had a full on panic attack on the phone with my insurance company yesterday#and my brain's fav response to crushing stress is just ''well we wouldn't have to handle any of this if we Just Fucking Died! :)''

If you’re legitimately interested in my current pricing, my state’s min wage went up recently and the cheapest option, pushed up to the next highest dollar (not rounded) totals up to about an 8 hour work day not adding in any other expenses or subtracting fees.
Between drawing and scanning then finishing up on my iPad via Procreate, the time is decently accurate if not underestimated. The more expensive option is twice that which is about two work days in total hours.
It’s already hard to price my stuff accurately especially when I have been so ill back and forth and I haven’t completed much work in about a year now. I hope you’ll understand. Thank you for your continued support regardless.
#text post#delete later#about commissions#about pricing commissions#sometimes I don’t draw for long periods and I have to relearn a lot#my condition(s) burn me out quicker than I would like so it’s not that I’m not ‘trying’ hard enough#I can’t work a regular job anymore without accommodation#and given my current situation I can’t just ‘not’ work because I need some kind of income for survival#but until a doctor as slow as they are at times gives me the okay I can’t even imagine getting government assistance aside from my medical#I sleep a lot these days and I have been for about a year as well if not longer

love how my shitty health insurance chose THE perfect time to expire. just really impeccable timing
#pentababbles#it expired on november 1st out of nowhere#i was on my dad's health plan but he got a job with a separate health plan and forgot to renew his other insurance#i was supposed to be able to stay covered under united healthcare until 2026.#sure that would've only given me two more years but at least then i'd have time to plan what to do next#what's especially annoying is how much trouble i had with my insurance previously when i tried switching my pcp#and this happens to be THE time of year when i typically get sick#just this september i was hospitalized for a severe asthma attack/respiratory infection combo#which could've been prevented if i could've gotten my asthma medicine from my allergist sooner#but ofc i had to go thru a ridiculous snafu dealing with doctors and insurance just to get a damn referral#and literally on the day my insurance ran out i caught a cold.#i'm running low on my antidepressants and my asthma medicine already.#i have a little money in my savings for emergency so if worse comes to worse i can at least get my medicines refilled#but. i can't go back to the doctor for more tests bc it'll cost too much.#i only have a part time job as an assistant teacher. i only get paid hourly and it's not that much#even if i did get a salaried position at this job the insurance benefits aren't that great and the pay is much better#plus since i work with kids they're very germy so i'm always at risk of getting sick and having to go to the doctor#i don't want my insurance to be tied to my job but i need to get a better job anyways. so i can start digging myself out of this hole#i need to get my vaccines updated stockpile lifesaving medications and get a new job with insurance before jan 20#bc i need to survive. i need to outlive the empire no matter what#and i need to be there for my friends

I've never heard of emts working only at events? What's that like for you if you don't mind my asking?
Yeah, there are ambulance companies that staff certain events, but there's some event specific companies out there lmao. For me specifically, it's almost entirely college events, whether it's happening on a campus or not. It's not great, usually pretty boring, but it's better than being on an ambulance or in a hospital. We do get actual emergencies sometimes, but usually it's just getting drunk people to the tent or giving out water and bandaids lmao. Again, boring as fuck, but I chose this over working on a 911 rig, so that's on me 😔 if I'm being so real tho, other than my coworkers, the best part of the job is the food lmaoooo it's so good and all the food trucks/food booths give discounts or free food to us depending on the location and event. And there's almost always a ton of downtime, so I basically just get paid to sit there and vibe for the most part
#not snz#when i say i love my job i mean i love very specific parts of it lmao#idk if I've said it here before or not and this is gonna sound so bad coming from someone working in healthcare#but i don't like patients lmao#i love the book stuff and i love everything in theory and i know how everything works and I'm very enthusiastic about it#but man do i not like patients ahskaksk#there are exceptions obviously but those are few and far between#it's why i love being an emt at my fire station bc we don't reslond to medical calls#like I've done medical calls there for the public but very rarely bc people either approach us or we stumble upon them#so i really only do my emt things on the people i know and i love that#i love my coworkers so I'm always happy to make sure they're okay and help them out when they're not#but i feel nothing for the public and i didn't realize i genuinely couldn't care less about them until i started doing my clinicals#it's just awkward and I'm not invested in them i just like figuring out what's wrong with them and interact with them as little as possible#again there are exceptions and i do like some of the patients but generally I'm just trying to hand them off asap#so yeah i do like working events bc the alternative is being confined to a tiny box or trapped in a hospital#i like being outside and being able to walk around the place and do things if i want to#and obviously i adore my partner#and even on the rare occasions i work with someone else all day i love my other coworkers too#and i mean yeah this might be more boring than working on an emergency rig However#it pays so much better#like why do y'all think my medic partner works there lmao he's actually good with patients and prefers the ambulance#but the pay in the field is shit so he gets paid way more working events than he would at the three letter company#insane actually that he makes over ten dollars more an hour working chill events than he would being overworked on a rig#anyway i digress#I'm looking into pathology assistant school rn bc there's like no patient interaction there but i still get to be nosy#so that's perfect for me lmao#everyone keeps saying i missed my calling as a vet tho like i don't cry when a dog dies in a movie lmao i wouldn't survive#working with animals would be amazing but the only thing that really gets you money is being a vet#so that can be a hobby

Today at the eye clinic I was talking to the receptionists to make my next appointment and I mentioned I was studying to work in a similar job (but preferably in radiology) and mostly they were like, "Oh, nice! Good luck!"
But one walked over near me and whispered
"You have to deal with the public a LOT" in a warning tone like, this job is hard! Don't think it'll be easy!
And I replied, "Yeah, I did retail for ten years. I've got that part down"
And we all had a laugh, it was pretty cool
#it's the medical terminology and medical transcription and related procedure stuff that i need to learn#i am pretty good at talking to people. and talking them down.#i've also done call center charity fundraising and customer service#i can deal with grumpy patients at a clinic#it won't be FUN but i can deal#job stuff#mod post#also there were like 4 people working at the reception desk and i called them receptionists just now but who knows#could have been a medical transcriptionist or an optician's assistant or a secretary or whatever in there i didn't ask for job titles

Having another one of those days where it feels like I am living on a different planet from most of the world, so:
1) there’s a funeral home in Quebec offering MAID services (that’s Medical Assistance In Dying)
There’s a nice room at the funeral home, you rent it, go there, and a doctor comes to legally murder you, just like they would at your home
(I am now wondering if you can be MAID-ed in other places like the park. Probably no, but the funeral home feels like a very logical place to have it? Cuts down on travel time?
There are a faction in this argument that believe it should be available, but for free not $700)
2) at the same fucking time, people are trying to expand MAID so that fucking poverty is an acceptable reason to apply, and homelessness
So yes, the government is now debating offering assisted suicide instead of social programs and financial supports for vulnerable communities
You could choose to die rather than, I don’t know, receive financial assistance to improve your quality of living, addiction support and counselling, or anything that might actually help
We already know that a good chunk of the people currently choosing MAID are choosing it because they are living on disability, aka government enforced poverty
(Even inheriting a house from your parents can get you kicked off disability in Ontario, because gods know you’ll never need to pay property taxes, buy food or medication, or travel ever again 🙄
You probably can’t even afford to keep the house, but selling it? Oh no no no, no more ODSP for you that money better last the rest of your life)
3) people are somehow more concerned about issue 1
How.
The government is debating killing people to save money on providing care for them.
They’ve already relaxed the standards to make it easier for people on ODSP and other provinces’ disability assistance to choose death rather than living on what they tell themselves is a reasonable income
(The max you can get from ODSP is less than half of the COVID benefit from the federal government that calculated the bare minimum everyone needed to live)
Meanwhile, they’re dragging their feet for the fourth year running on the first attempt to increase disability benefits in decades
Clearly there is nothing wrong with society if we let people volunteer to be killed instead of rounding them up at gunpoint, right? Just make their lives unliveable first and all those moral qualms disappear
#medical assistance in dying#eugenics#disability#poverty#homelessness#politics#canadian politics#i am going to shoot people into the sun#may everyone in favour die young enough to never know what it’s like to be poor or disabled#this is literally what they want us to do#ableism#death#tbh if i was gonna get maided i’d do it in a funeral home tho#like could i lie in the casket myself#they’d have to take me back out for prep but it’d be wild#assisted suicide#i don’t even wanna be buried in a casket it’d just be a cool place to die#technically i think i’m eligible now despite not having a lethal condition#i just gotta be eligible for disability#and i am that 3x over the second i can’t keep a job
