So I’m trying out the Cat’s Club free trial, and I noticed that all three Mynekos’ default personalities are “Smiling”, but their personalities change when you customize them

It took me a while to figure out what factors triggered specific personality changes, but then I realized…

everyone's comparing the misty promo to a different leather jacket which is fair, nat seems to have had several. but i think it's this one and the picture of misty is just mirrored for some reason (the zipper is on the opposite side but it seems more or less identical otherwise)

Finishing up the main cast, here's my AU Misty! She's probably changed the least from her canon version besides backstory and plot details.

She will eventually be getting (technically a third) alternate design with a new mane colour and cutie mark but we'll get to that.

Rest in peace Rachael Lillis, you will be so very missed. I absolutely adored your work as Jesse and Misty, and Jigglypuff too, and they remain some of my favourite characters from childhood. (Gosh I have always loved Misty and her voice so much, it's probably why my favourite Pokémon type to this day is water type.)

All this to say, thank you for sharing your voice with the world.

“Misty does not like me.”

Brock and Cilan exchanged a look.

“She doesn’t!” Ash insisted. “She’s never even kissed me.”

“You think she needs to kiss you if she likes you?” Cilan asked, looking concerned.

Ash’s frown deepened. “Serena did. I mean, she like, left and didn’t talk to me for a long time right after, but she did. That’s how I know she liked me. Melody too. And maybe Bianca, though that was probably Latias. It was unclear.”

“Plenty of other girls have liked you without kissing you,” Brock stated simply, then began counting them off on his fingers. “Macy, from the Johto League, for example. She asked you on a date and everything. Misty did not like that, by the way.”

Aah scoffed. “No, she just didn’t like her because she was a fire-type trainer and she insulted water types.”

“Incorrect. Angie, from Sinnoh, that’s another one. Oh, and I’m pretty sure Anabel from the Battle Frontier. All liked you, never kissed you. And that’s just the girls.”

“Oh?” Cilan asked, raising his eyebrows in interest and surprise.

Brock smirked. “Remind me to tell you about Goh.”

“You hardly even hung out with Goh!” Ash cried.

“Yeah, but Dawn is a gossip,” Brock said with a smirk. Ash pouted.

Cilan hummed. “I didn’t realize you were that popular, Ash. I’m almost impressed.”

“Don’t be. None of those people like me. Especially not Misty.”

“Maybe Misty’s never kissed you because the last time she tried, you went running and screaming into a table,” Brock offered, deadpan, causing Cilan to cringe.

“Oh noo. Really?”

Brock nodded, sadly. “Christmas party. She got him under the mistletoe. It was brutal.”

“Ouch, Ash,” Cilan tsked. “Rude.”

Ash rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “You don’t even like Misty!”

“I do too!” Cilan gasped.

“You do not! You spent the whole time you were hangin’ out with us making fun of her!”

“So did you,” Cilan sniffed, which shut Ash up immediately. “Besides, it was all in good fun. She was a good sport. She has an exquisite sense of humor.” He glared down at Ash and wagged his finger. “And don’t change the subject!”

Ash groaned and flopped backwards into the back of the chair, throwing up his arms in indignation. “Misty doesn’t like me!”

Brock sighed. “Ash, who knows Misty better than me?”

Ash raised an eyebrow at him challengingly. “I mean, probably her sisters and Tracy at this point, with how much he hangs around Daisy lately.”

“Wrong. I know her best. I’ve known you two for a long time and I know she likes you.”

“Why does it even matter?!” Ash finally cried, throwing his hands into the air. “Why are we even talking about this?!”

“Because you like her too,” Cilan stated simply.

Immediately, Ash’s face flushed. “No I don’t.”

Brock smirked. “You’re blushing.”

“No I’m not.”

Cilan sighed, clasping his hands behind his back and shrugging flippantly. “Well then, I guess it won’t matter to you to find out that Gary asked her out yesterday.”

That seemed to get Ash’s attention. “Gary? Gary who? Gary Oak?” He made a face. “Well, now I know you’re just making stuff up. Misty wouldn’t go out with Gary. I know Gary is cool now, but she’s always said she thinks he’s egotistical.”

“I guess you’re right, Ash,” Brock began, obviously not believing Ash was right in the slightest. “What would Misty see in someone rich and smart and handsome and mature enough to admit he actually likes her?”

Ash frowned, his eyebrows furrowing. “Did she say yes?” he asked quietly.

Brock and Cilan shared a look. “Not yet,” Brock told him. “But she might. Unless you do something about it.”

recently I’ve seen several of my mutuals expressing desires to delete every creative thing they’ve done or take a break from their creative projects (some of them indefinitely) or just take a break from tumblr and other social spaces. some of this is due to burnout and some of it is due to hate and bigotry, which breaks my heart

friends I get it, I’ve been there. the burnout, the depression or anxiety, the imposter syndrome, the adhd shame of moving on to another project and abandoning another, the dull days where you’re just not inspired or the days you overthink the notes/kudos/attention on your work, i get it 1000%

but don’t delete your work! you’ve worked hard on it, and people will find it! a slow-growing following is still a following. a post that only gets 5 notes is still valuable and still capable of getting more as time goes on. one day someone will find your blog or your work and scroll through it for two hours. they might not like or reblog everything but they’re seeing it and enjoying it. if you delete your work, how will they enjoy it?

slow growth (for you, your blog, your post, your fic) is just as valuable (if not more valuable, in my opinion) as going viral in an hour

take a break when you need it. set aside the creative thing if it’s only bringing you pain or stress. but don’t delete it. if nothing else, the posts of the past can be your waymakers to see how you’ve grown and improved. don’t let the numbers convince you of what’s valuable. the numbers don’t matter in the end

I know I’m just one creative, a tiny drop in a vast ocean of other voices, but I’m telling you, speaking from experience, don’t delete the work you’ve done. Sometimes you can never get it back and you’ll regret not being able to watch it unexpectedly grow, or look back at it and see just how far you’ve come <3

I see you. I see your pain and your struggles. and I see your creative works too. they exist and they are beautiful and they are valuable

please don’t let numbers convince you otherwise

I see people say Misty's disliking of 'Rain' is actually referring to the TOON Rain, and while I like that idea, I had a thought:

Maybe she dislikes rain because it happens whenever she's feeling upset, so she associates rain with sadness and all her emotional baggage. Some of her dialogue also seems to hint that she does dislike rain as in the weather.

They also requested an umbrella and hood when they were getting their new uniform:

it does say she likes stormy nights, however, which could contradict everything here. but i feel that rain on its own may be different from actual storms. their storm cell dialogue shows that they like to feel powerful and make others fear them since they've failed at making others like them.

maybe storms are more angry, and make her feel stronger and more in control. Rain alone, however, is sad and gloomy and associated with crying.

They hate being seen as weak, which crying and feeling sad is often associated with. Misty is desperate to stand her ground and feel powerful over others due to the pain she's endured from others; it's a defense mechanism. Storms may make them feel safe and in control, while rain makes them feel weak and vulnerable.
