(Mis) Adventures of Little Wednesday -aka Wednesday’s mirror image niece
“Dinner pt 2”
Everyone in the house heard the door bell.
Lurch: -opened the door- You rang?
Dalton: um yes. Wednesday invited for dinner?
Dayton: dad! We got to feed the animals!!
Wednesday: good evening, Dalton. The Ottingers are on the way. Dinner will be ready soon. The misfits are washing up after the animal feedings. I must also wash up
Dalton chucked nervously. Gomez and Morticia descended the stairs
Gomez: ah. Good evening, Mr Wentworth
Morticia: Dalton. Nice of you to join us! Your son is such a lovely boy. From what my daughter says of your wife? She must really let him be a child
Dalton: I am beginning to see it. He is so happy when he is with the misfits. He has been asking if learn archery with Wednesday. I told him his mother would frown upon that
Gomez: fencing? My daughter is an excellent fencer! She’s been teaching my granddaughter. She could have been a top fencer had it been her passion
Dalton: even worse than archery in Daisy’s eyes.
The Misfits returned
Dayton: Dad!! -running up and hugging his father-
Dalton: we were just talking about you and how you wanted to learn archery
Dayton: yeah. But mom won’t let me. It’s too dangerous
Koda: oh! Maybe come with me to learn drum? It taiko. Not Hawaiian drum but Japanese drum.
Tyler: yeah! I’m going to learn too with Koda!
Dayton: really? You guys don’t mind?
Koda: you misfit.
Dayton: what about Ruthie, Wednesday and GJ?
Ruthie: I’m not learning drum. I have lots of farm stuff and cooking stuff I’m doing
GJ: I am found of robotics stuff with my dad and gardening with Grandma!
Little Wednesday: I have archery and fencing. And I’m learning cello and piano
Dayton: cello? Why cello?
Wednesday retired from washing up.
Wednesday: I play the cello
Dayton: that’s neat! I’ve always wanted to play an instrument. Dad? Can I go to taiko with Koda and Tyler? Please?
Dayton: well we will have to see. Water polo season is coming. But I’ll see what ai can do. Your mother wants to go to several Mary Kay conferences and a trip to Iceland and Europe with her selling friends. It’s a bit expensive. I’m not sure if we can afford everything
Wednesday: Dalton. If it would help get Dayton out of your hair while you take care of your water polo, get Daisy away from the house so Dayton can have some fun this summer? I’ll pay for the taiko class and even give you something to allow your wife to go on her trips
Dalton: oh my gosh. Yes? Not just for Dayton but me too! -chuckling-
Wednesday: just let me know
The front door opened. Eugene and Idgie arrived along with Grand Sue, Gran Jan and Great Gran Ninny
Jack barked in greeting

Let me tell you about John “Foul-Weather Jack” Byron, Captain James Cook, a doctor named James Lind, and also a different doctor named James Lind, and how they all knew each other, helped to cure scurvy, and inadvertently helped to inspire Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein (1818) and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897) -- a long-winded history ramble
John Byron next to a first edition copy of Frankenstein.
John joined the Royal Navy at 14 and by the ripe old age of 17 had proved himself by surviving a deadly shipwreck off the coast of Chile. The voyage was part of George Anson's famous circumnavigation of the globe done to seize Spanish ships. Only 188 men of the original 1,854 crew members survived; several, including Byron, were taken as prisoners by the Spanish. Recollections of the voyage were sensationalized and it was depicted in stories like William Cowper’s poem The Castaway. John Byron published his own successful memoir, The Narrative of the Honourable John Byron (1768).
The novel's full title deserves attention for it's 18th century pre-Byronic melodrama: "The Narrative of the Honourable John Byron (Commodore in a Late Expedition Around the World) Containing an Account of the Great Distresses suffered by Himself and his Companions on the Coast of Patagonia from the Year 1740, till their Arrival in England, 1746. With a Description of St. Jago de Chili, and the Manners and Customs of the Inhabitants. Also a Relation of the Loss of the Wager Man of War, one of Admiral Anson's Squadron." I can only imagine that had his grandson Lord Byron's memoirs been published instead of burned, their title would have borrowed from his grandfather's by including something similar to "Containing an Account of the Great Distresses suffered by Himself . . ." but I digress.
I do not digress. The beginning of his preface opens with this gem (I've swapped the 18th-century "long s" for a regular one):
"But here I must say, I have been dubious of the partiality of my friends; and, as I think, justly fearful lest the world in general, who may perhaps find compassion and indulgence for a protracted tale of distress, may not give the same allowance to a luxurious imagination triumphing in a change of fortune, and sudden transition from the most dismal to the gayest scenes in the universe, and thereby indulging an egotism equally offensive to the envious and censorious."
Which brings to mind Francis Cohen's criticism of Lord Byron's Don Juan: “Lord B. should have been grave & gay by turns; grave in one page & gay in the next; grave in one line, & gay in the next. And not grave & gay in the same page, or in the same stanza, or in the same line… we are never drenched & scorched at the same instant whilst standing in one spot" (letter to John Murray, 16 July, 1819). And (not the most entertaining part, but to keep things brief) part of Byron's retort: "I will answer [Cohen] who objects to the quick succession of fun and gravity — as if in that case the gravity did not (in intention at least) heighten the fun. His metaphor is that ‘we are never scorched and drenched at the same time!' Blessings on his experience!" (letter to John Murray, 12 August, 1819).
John went on to be considered one of the greatest naval commanders of his era, commanding several ships as captain during the Seven Years’ War and beating the French as leader in the Battle of Restigouche. He later set the record for fastest global circumnavigation at the time while commodore, became a notable explorer, became a commander at multiple Royal Navy stations, and was appointed Governor of Newfoundland in Canada for three years. According to Wikipedia, “his actions nearly caused a war between Great Britain and Spain.”
It seems like he basically just did whatever the hell he wanted. We can see that the apple really doesn't fall too far from the tree. Everyone in the Byron family was kind of crazy. See: psychologist Kay Jamison's Touched By Fire, a novel on the mental illness of famous writers, half of which is focused on Lord Byron (as it should be) and includes an extensive psychological analysis of his whole family tree, which in a short summary brings me back to my previous point: everyone in the Byron family was kind of crazy.
John's health declined after sustaining storm-induced injuries and an unsuccessful attack against the French at the Battle of Grenada. He died at 62 with six living children. His grandson, the poet Lord Byron, borrowed inspiration from John's life and the shipwreck descriptions in his memoir while he was writing the shipwreck sequence in his magnum opus Don Juan.
In an epistle to his half-sister (Epistle to Augusta) Byron mentions their grandfather thus:
"A strange doom is thy father's son's, and past / Recalling, as it lies beyond redress; / Revers'd for him our grandsire's fate of yore— / He had no rest at sea, nor I on shore. / If my inheritance of storms hath been / In other elements, and on the rocks / Of perils, overlook'd or unforeseen, / I have sustain'd my share of worldly shocks, / The fault was mine; nor do I seek to screen / My errors with defensive paradox; / I have been cunning in mine overthrow, / The careful pilot of my proper woe."
On to the Scottish doctor James Lind! He's important because he developed the theory that citrus fruits treated scurvy, and in attempting to prove so he conducted the world's first ever official clinical trial. In his tests, he used the survivors from this famous shipwreck. This likely included Byron himself, being one of the few survivors and having reported the healing effects of citrus in restoring men who were on the verge of death. Needless to say, the discoveries and implications of Lind's clinical trial had an unprecedented impact on the fields of nutrition and medicine, and all of history, particularly in the Caribbean. In 1753 he published his Treatise on Scurvy.
Lind's theories on scurvy influenced the famous Captain James Cook, who implemented these ideas and proved their efficiency by how few men he lost to scurvy compared with every other Captain at the time. When Cook circumnavigated the world on his first voyage, no one died of scurvy. This didn't help with malaria and dysentery, which nearly wiped out his whole crew at one point on a journey to Indonesia. Aside from Anson's shipwreck, Cook's voyages were the other major instance of what I would call "social experiments at sea, or, fuck around and find out: scurvy edition" which led to the development of scurvy research.
As an aside, there is a famous town in Australia named Byron Bay. That town was named by Captain Cook in 1770 as a tribute to John Byron. Cook was sailing around on the HMS Endeavour doing even crazier colonial shit, and he likewise died as the result of his sea travels. He was killed in a scuffle on Hawaiʻi Island which transpired after he had casually tried to kidnap King Kalaniʻōpuʻu-a-Kaiamamao in broad daylight, planning to ransom him out of revenge for the theft of one of his boats, although Cook himself had stolen their sacred wood first after they had been so nice to him. This is what I've gathered from reading a bit about the confusing affair, but the main point is that Cook got what was coming to him. The Journals of Captain Cook were published to major success, contributing to the history of English travel narratives. But Cook is a pretty well-known historical figure so I can't go into his chaotic life any more than this, lest I be writing forever.
Lord Byron in an Albanian oufit he bought while traveling for 2 years, & Captain Cook thinking about navigation. The backgrounds make them look part of the same painting, no?
Back to the Linds: interestingly enough, the scurvy-studying physician James Lind had a younger cousin who was also a physician named James Lind, as well as a scientist/philosopher/teacher. While teaching at Eton, this Lind became a tutor and mentor of a young Percy Bysshe Shelley, and had such an impact on him that Shelley refers to Lind in several of his works. Shelley especially enjoyed Lind’s experiments regarding galvanism - the study of bringing things to life with electricity. It is widely believed by scholars that Shelley’s conversations and rememberances about Lind at Lord Byron's Villa Diodati were some of the primary inspiration for Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein (1818).
For further reading on Shelley's Lind: The real Doctor Frankenstein? by Christopher Goulding via Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine. Lind's Wikipedia page has a section devoted to Frankenstein.
Percy Shelley described his Lind:
". . . exactly what an old man ought to be. Free, calm-spirited, full of benevolence, and even of youthful ardor: his eye seemed to burn with supernatural spirit beneath his brow, shaded by his venerable white locks, he was tall, vigorous, and healthy in his body; tempered, as it had ever been, by his amiable mind. I owe to that man far, ah! far more than I owe to my father: he loved me, and I shall never forget our long talks, where he breathed the spirit of the kindest tolerance and the purest wisdom . . ."
A tie-in to vampire literature: Lind is also thought to be an influence on Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897), which was influenced by (Lord Byron’s doctor) John Polidori’s novel The Vampyre, the first ever vampire novel, which was inspired by Lord Byron’s short vampire story Augustus Darvell, which was written at the same time as Frankenstein during their infamous ghost story competition at Villa Diodati. Augustus Darvell was inspired by Byron's travels through Eastern Europe, and was likely in part inspired by (another famous Romantic poet) Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s gothic poem Christabel, which Byron terrified Percy Shelley with after reading it aloud at the Villa Diodati, and which Byron loved so much that he helped Coleridge publish it through his own publisher. Christabel began in 1797 but wasn't published until 1816 for this reason.
To continue on vampires: Byron's enemy, the famous poet Robert Southey (who Byron roasted in Don Juan, among other works, and basically cancelled him as a result) also wrote a poem called Thalaba the Destroyer (1801) which is sometimes considered to be the first true depiction of a vampire in English literature. He also wrote it while traveling. Shelley (and Keats) both loved this poem, and so it also *could have* inspired some of the conversation at the Villa Diodati if Shelley had related the vampire theme to Christabel or Darvell. Southey is also the first English writer to write on Haitian zombi folklore, which would later become the zombie of modern horror. Southey was also reportedly in love with Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, the mother of Mary Shelley and philosopher who wrote A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), one of the most influential proto-feminist texts.
I relate these connections to demonstrate how small the literary world was at the time; so small that all the writers pretty much knew each other. In 1801, the English population was about 11 million, and in 1899 had grown to around 37 million due to industrialization (source: Black, Joseph, et al. "British Literature: A Historical Overview." The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, Broadview Press, vol. B, 2010, p. 70).
That's nearly the current population of London alone, but around 75% of that 11 million English population in 1801 was rural, whereas at the end of the century the national population was about 75% urban (source: same as prior), again due to industrialization. London in the early 19c was much less populated than today, and the amount of people who were educated or even merely literate was also much smaller than today. So really, it makes sense that all of the artists/writers/scientists/aristocrats knew each other. But it's still insane to see examples of how small the world really is and always has been.
The front-facing portrait is of Scurvy Lind, the shadow portrait is of Galvanism Lind.
The Shelleys: the King and Queen of Romanticism.
Southey, Coleridge, Polidori, Stoker: some early Kings of Vampirism (as represented in popular British literature).

heres what ive been cooking last noght!!!
Tw major character death, suicide mention, ships you might not like (sunflower, implied sunburn + rosemari(mostly platonic de i am NOT a proshipper/comshipper/etc))
Sunny was laying in bed. He was crying.
He pulled the covers over his head.
A few minutes later, the door opened and the lights were clicked on.
“Rise and shiiiiiine, Sunny!! …You know what we have to do today, right..?” Mari exclaimed.
Sunny sighed and wiped his eyes. Yeah, he knew. “Mhm.”
“His funeral’s on Sunday. You can come downstairs when you’re ready, I made you breakfast…” Mari said with a sigh.
Sunny nodded as he sat up.
Mari stayed leaning against the doorframe for a minute. “…Sunny?”
“mm?”
“This might seem a bit random, but… I mean… I’ve known you since the day you were born 18 years ago… but I don’t know you at all.”
“…okay..?”
“Well… you’re my little brother. Don’t you think we should be close? After our parents left and died in that crash, I’m really all you’ve got left.”
“I have Aubrey and Kel and Hero. And I had Basil.”
“You know what I mean, Sunny.”
Silence.
“…Okay. Well… your suit’s on your chair. Get dressed and come eat.” Mari said, turning around and walking down the hallway.
Sunny watched her go.
He was starting to wish that she had died instead of Basil.
—-
He stood in front of the picture of Basil Fey.
He wasn’t crying. He wouldn’t do that.
A woman with blonde hair and blue eyes said something to him. He didn’t hear. She repeated it.
“Were you a friend of his? I think I’ve seen you before. What’s your name?”
“Sunny Suzuki.”
“Ahh… He mentioned you.”
“Who are you?”
“I’m his mother. What were you to him?”
“His boyfriend.”
“Oh… he was gay?”
“If you don’t support your son’s feelings you shouldn’t be here.”
“I never said that. I’m an ally.”
“…good for you, i guess.”
—-
Kel looked over at where Sunny was and saw him and Basil’s mom getting into an argument.
“Oh shit. Aubs, come on, we need to stop that.” He said.
Aubrey followed his gaze. “…Oh. Yeah. We should.”
They ran over and Kel grabbed Sunny, covering his mouth.
“HAHAHHA uh… sorry about him… he’s having a hard time… sorry, ma’am…” Kel said in a panic.
Basil’s mom nodded. “…Okay. No worries..”
Once they were a considerable distance away, Aubrey pur her hand on sunny’s face, leaning in close. “You do not talk to your dead boyfriend’s mother like that. ‘Kay?”
Sunny nodded, rolling his eyes.
“Good. Let’s go.”
As they walked out the front door, where Hero and Mari were waiting outside the car, Sunny realized that Sunday, the day of the funeral…
…was February 18th.

Savior. Arthur Morgan x Reader. Part 2!
WARNING: MENTIONS OF RAPE, CUSSING (ofc) MENTIONS OF VIOLENCE.
("Italics" are thoughts. Regular font is speaking.)
𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞
===============================
Arthur woke up to hear the pops of a fire. He was in a tent, on a bedroll. His chest was bandaged in all the spots he was cut by...
"That bastard."
Arthur forced himself to sit up, looking through the tiny flap of the tent.
He was expecting to see someone. But he surely wasn't expecting it to be you.
The way the fire lit up your face with the prettiest orange not even the sky could be.
The moon shone down on your beautiful hair.
Arthur never really looked at you the way he was now.
And, you and him weren't on good terms.
Not like him and Micah, but you weren't best friends like him and John either.
Back in Colter, when the gang had robbed Cornwall's train, you weren't listening to anyone at all.
After the whole robbery went bad and everyone had to help fight off an army of men, and finally made it back to camp, he cussed you out.
He yelled at you about how careless you were.
Yes he was mad,
But not because you weren't listening.
He was afraid you would get hurt.
But you took the wrong hint and have been ignoring him ever since.
Arthur thought after you guys had just moved into horseshoe overlook that you would start talking to him again. But you haven't.
Arthur dismissed the thought from his head and focused back on you.
You were cooking what looked like some plain game over the fire.
He watched a bit longer before sighing and laying back down.
Meanwhile, you were cooking some food for him so he could at least get something in his stomach. He looks starved. You were out here for him anyways so might as well help him.
After Arthur left for a while, Dutch sent you out to go look for him, claiming it will "fix the broken love story"
Dutch knew you were sweet on Arthur cause you would always tell him and Hosea and him about how you could imagine a future with Arthur.
You smiled at the thought, starting a family and living out in the West where you have been so deprived and moved further from.
Cooking dinner for him and your 2.5 kids every night. And sleeping in the same bed as him and seeing that handsome face first thing in the morning.
You would do anything to have that life.
But you don't.
And you don't see it coming any time soon.
Cause all you have been doing is running.
You can't escape from the government.
Even if you're dead.
Tears pricked your eyes at the thought of never leaving the life of an outlaw.
A killer.
A theif.
A liar.
You wiped your tears with the back of your hand and took a deep breath before standing up and making your way to the tent.
You felt your heart rate quicken... Were you gonna talk to him? You avoided contact cause you were afraid interactions would damage what "little" relationship you had left. Or that's what you thought.
You slowly pulled open the tent flap to see arthur looking at the top of the tent.
"I brought you food.. No no no.... Here you go... No.... I brought you some food and it might hurt to eat since you just got throat fucked but here! NO."
Thoughts of what to say invaded your mind. So you chose to stay silent
Didn't want to slip up and confess your feelings. Cause it sure feels like if you even open your mouth you'll have a word vomit.
Plus, arthur wouldn't want you. Surely.
He has... Or had Mary... And he told Lenny he wasn't looking for a relationship. Or at least that's what Lenny told you, but he wasn't too sure.
So instead you just tapped him.
"Hm?" He hummed.
You didn't reply, just holding your knife with a huge chunk of meat on it out to him.
"... 'Kay.. " he mumbled taking it.
You were going to leave him to eat and so you could calm down since your heart was faster than a race horse right now, but he stopped you.
"Wait..." Be said reaching out for your arm.
"Why ain't you talkin'?" He asked.
You avoided eye contact,
"I-..."
You stopped mid sentence.
"Spit it out" Arthur thought.
"Are you still mad at me?" You whispered.
He chuckled a bit.
"What? Mad? No no no. Why the hell would I be mad at 'chu" he said with a dumb smile on his face.
"Well... I.. Ever since that train robbery... And you yelled at me.... I thought you didn't wanna talk to me again.... And I didn't know if you were mad." You barely got out.
Yeah you left out some major details, but for the most part the truth was told.
He blinked a few times before speaking again.
"I weren't mad. I.. I didn't want you to get hurt. And I was just kinda frustrated... A lot of a shit went on that day... But I ain't mad" he said squeezing your arm to try and get you to focus on him.
"Yeah..." You mumbled before breaking his grip and leaving the tent.
"Get some rest..we gotta make it back to camp tomorrow" you said with your back turned to him.
.
.
You slept on the ground that night. It was uncomfortable as hell but you would rather let Arthur have the bedroll.
You woke up around 6:30. Arthur was already awake and dressed in a new outfit
"Found your stuff?" You spoke sitting up.
"Was it supposed to be hard to find?" He joked.
"No." You mumbled.
By 7:00 you left the tiny temporary camp.
"So uhm... How are you feeling?" You asked him.
"Fine. Nothin' you needa worry about"
The ride back to camp was slow, stopping a few times to eat or get some rest. But you made it back.
"Ah yes, my finest of people are back" you heard dutch exclaim.
You dismounted and gave Dutch a warm smile before making your way to your tent.
You heard Dutch and Arthur talk but couldn't make out what they were saying.
It didn't bug you though, they should have privacy.
But then again it was. You wanted to know what they were saying.
You wanted to know everything.
.
.
Arthur lied in his tent for what seemed like hours but only a few minutes had passed.
You were in his mind.
The picture his mind took of you sitting at the fire, the orange glow highlighting your features perfectly. The moonlight shining on your hair.
You were beautiful, a true piece of art.
One that couldn't be damaged.
Cause no matter what he thought you were so pretty.
He sat up, snatching his journal from the "end table" which was really a few boxes stacked on top with a cloth over it.
He studied the mental image of you and drew every little detail of you down.
From the shape of your nose, to how many lashes you have.
And when he was done, he had his most favorite drawing right in his hands.

1. This is a technique for grilling fish called "遠火の強火". It doesn't seem to have a defined name like that in english, at least that I could find, so I just translated it. Lit. distant and strong flame.
2. This happened in Rinne's idol story titled "Please, God☆". Associated with this card.
3. Rinne shortens "Bloody Mary" to what reads as "buramea" in Japanese, since the katakana for Bloody Mary reads buraddi meari. Blame-chan unfortunately does not come across the same way in English. Blamery-chan is not the official localisation, but I think it works.

*this crack fic was inspired by @staitc-rj, XD That meme you made with Overhaul months ago, haha calling our birdman a "fruity bird". So I decided to use it, for Dabi to tease his temporary boss*
-To give more context, Dabi switched places with Toga to get closer to Mary, aka Overhaul's Wife; Eri looks up to Dabi as her dad and Mary her mom; he want to become a mate candidate for Mary and loves to tease the crap out of Overhaul. Plus, I want to tease Dabi living under the same roof as Kai and being a menace.-
What happens after Mary shares her Fruit Loop cereal with Dabi~
Overhaul x Mary x Dabi crack fic: Fruit Loops and Muffins
Mary already made chocolate chip pumpkin muffins and pumpkin spice pancakes for breakfast the night before. Reheating the fall and spooky season treats, her and Eri happily ate them, then saved the rest for the eight bullets, Dabi, Twice and Kai.
Eri the sweet child, gladly followed her mother to the sink, hopping onto her step stool when Dabi came into the kitchen.
He had his hands in his pockets, bored expression quirking upwards, watching the scene before him, drinking in the quiet and picturesque of his now two favorite girls bonding. Dabi hated to admit it, but seeing little Eri with his firebrand was adorable as embers of wanting a family of his own echoes into the back of his mind.
Blue eyes trailing from Mary's curves and her growing belly, knowing that the birdman's child was growing. He wanted his own hellspawn to be next, can imagine the terror and little gremlin, a mini version of himself running 'round the base and picking fights with his half brother. Shaking his head he stalks towards the refrigerator, eyeing the line of plan and boring cereals, overly healthy and bland shit to the more colorful overly sugary and tooth rotten goodness.
One red box caught his eye. He grabbed it and stared at it, took it with him as he shrugged, squeezing behind Mary to reach for a plastic bowel, he turned when he felt something grip the box in his hand. Tilting his head as he meet his lovers light glaring gaze as his own sparkled with amusement, "Need something, princess?" Feighting ignorance.
"Yes, you grabbed my cereal without asking, sneak thief. That's called stealing, casanova."
He glanced down at her hand overlapping his own, brushing his index finger over her own slow and teasing. "Well, good morning to you too, buttercup." he chuckled, gaze lazily searching the box, "But I don't see your name on it, beauty and I'm hungry but don't feel like cooking."
Mary quirked an eyebrow. "You were with me when I bought it." She pointed at her name labeled on the top of the opened box, "Are you blind? My name is right there in black market, smartass." Crossing her arms over her chest, "I don't mind sharing so long as you ask first. It's common curtsy."
"So it is." He replied, shrugging and walking towards the table when he felt a tug on his white shirt. "Do you think it will stop me?" he asked even when they both know the answer.
"Manners." She chastised him lightly, waiting. "Just a few simple words."
Eri chimed in meekly, poking her head out from behind her mother as she grips the back of her dress. "You forgot to say "please" daddy." Large ruby gems meeting turquoise.
His eyes and expression softened and he sighed, running a hand through his black messy tresses.
Dammit, he hopes him and his firebrand eventually doesn't have a girl, or he will be a pile of mush.
Dabi gasped, faking being shocked as he widened his eyes. "You are right, sweetheart." Turning his gaze to Mary and winking, "I'm sorry, beauty. Do you forgive me? Please? Pretty please?"
Mary could feel a smile tugging on her lips and she huffed through her nose, and tried not to laugh, but a half giggle slipped out, and he knew he'd won. "Alright, alright, fine." Letting go of his shirt, twirling on her feet slowly as she waved him off. "Put it back whenever you are done. But you are taking some muffins to the rest of the eight, Twice as a compromise." Turning on the sink, pointing at the large box of muffins sitting in a overly large cake box, two dozen. "I made too much last night, it's first come first served. I've got another box in the fridge."
Dabi pulled the milk out of the fridge as he grabbed a muffin, shuffling as he hummed, kicked the door closed with his booted foot and dumped his haul of sugary breakfast onto the table.
He's lucky he didn't leave a boot or scuff mark on the fridge or Overbeak would have a hissy fit and make him clean it, polish it, and clean it again until it shines as he glared down at him. Clean freak and overly controlling prick. Dabi thought to himself as he poured a decent amount of the colorful rainbow cereal into his bowl, adding milk, drank some from the carton and placed the milk back. "Can someone hand me a-" he asked as he felt something poke the middle of his back, halfway turning he smiled, "Thanks, beauty." He took the spoon with a tiny blush on his cheeks and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Uh-huh," Mary replied, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Your welcome." Returning to Eri as she rinsed and dried the clean dishes Mary had already placed in the sink to soak while they ate breakfast.
Sitting down, placing his spoon in his bowl, grabbing a spoonful and taking a bite, savoring it. He hadn't had this in a long time, and he suddenly had a craving for it. When the circles hit his tongue, his mind wonders, glancing at his girls, then travels down as he notices something.
The azure flame user stares at the Toucan Bird on the front of the box, snickering as he takes another bite of the sugary cereal, causing both Eri and Mary to look at him with curiosity while they finish washing the dishes, Mary washing and Eri drying.
"Is something funny written on the box?" Eri asked innocently and overly curious as she finishes drying a plastic plate and places it onto the drying wrack carefully.
"Nah, it's nothing munchkin." Dabi chuckles, standing, finishing his bowl, smiling and ruffling her hair affectionately. "Go on and finish getting ready with mommy, m'kay." He scoots his lover with his hip, giving Mary a charming smile and winking. "I've got this, babe."
Now Mary is confused, blinking and tilting her head. "Kai will be down any minute. What are you up to, pyro?" She had a feeling that whatever thought was running through the flame users head wasn't a good idea.
Eri doesn't get it, but she nods her head, stepping down from her step stool, picked it up and placed it back in it's place with a small smile on her lips.
"What?" Dabi asked quirking an eyebrow, "Can a man not do dishes without his lovely little wolfish lover growing suspicious?" He grabs her hand, kissing it and places it over his scarred chest, pouting, "beauty, you wound me so."
Mary shakes her head, "I can never been so sure with you." She grips his shirt, yanking him to her with a knowing smirk on her lips. "A certain bored monster and little fiery gremlin with a shit eating grin on his face has something sneaky up his sleeves." she purrs, violet and gold eyes meeting his ocean blues.
"Guilty as charged my sexy detective," he fires back, hands gripping her hips, pulling her into a kiss as his lips curling smugly. "Gonna stop me?"
She hums, pulling away. "I should, but I know that you won't listen anyways." Letting go of him, giving a shorter kiss as she walks around him, "I'm sure I'll heard about it from Kai sooner than later," Mary reaches her hand out to Eri as she grabs it and following her mother.
The pair of girls halt in the threshold of the kitchen.
Mary glances over her shoulder, "Just don't go overboard and destroy my kitchen will you?"
Dabi gives a mock salute, turning on the sink and washing the dishes. "Aye aye, my princess."
Eri laughs, lightly pulling her mother forward before she could say anything else.
They both passed Kai on their way out as he stops them, giving her a morning kiss on her forehead, then went straight into the kitchen.
Kai's good mood soured and his small smile on his lips fell as he saw the zombie man in the kitchen, being domestic and washing dishes no less. His golden gaze narrows in suspicion. Dabi didn't usually do the dishes, his angel usually asks him to help wash them, if she was under a bit of a time crunch.
Kai walks over to the coffee machine, where he already see's his favorite cup sitting on a coaster waiting for him curtsy of his loving wife and angel. Rubbing the cup over the back of his gloved palm to check the temperature before picking it up, feeling the warmth warming his hands, but not burning or scalding hot, black with a shot of espresso, just the way he likes it.
He lowered his black duster mask to his chin and takes a slip, enjoying the silence, closing his eyes and enjoying the peace of his first morning coffee. Shame that he didn't arrive first, he could have eaten breakfast with his angel and could have tolerated Dabi's presence as long as he kept his filthy mouth shut.
Dabi quickly finished the dishes, dried his hands with a orange hand towel that read: Pumpkin Spice Queen for Life.
One of the many things his wife grabbed last time she was in the States, she stocks up on Pumpkin Spice seasonally things and whatnot she could carry in her spare luggage, he swears she loves the seasonal item just ask much as she loves cherry blossoms.
The Strays annoying voice brought Kai out of his thoughts.
Placing the hand towel back in it's holder, he speaks up. "Princess wants me to take the mountain of muffins 'round the base, she made too much." He pointed his thumb at the large number of brightly colored orange and brown muffins, even the morning after, they smelled delicious and mouthwatering.
Dabi snatched another one from the box and took a bite, he'd grab the one of the table on his way out. "Fuck, these are good," he muttered to himself with a mouthful.
Kai scrunched his nose in disgust underneath, his expression visible. "Close your mouth, you animal."
Swallowing a mouthful and taking another, much bigger bite to annoy the overly strict crow. "Can't help it, these are too good." He smirked teasingly, offering the half eaten muffin towards the other man. "What? Want some?"
Kai grimaced, brows furrowing as he glared. "No thank you. I don't want any of your pyromaniac germs. I'll get my own." The only person he'd ever think about sharing food with is his angel, no one else.
He readjusted his mask, covering his face as he sneered. His patience growing thin.
"Whatever ya say, fruity bird." Dabi waves Overhaul off, laughing and taking another bite.
Silence settling between them as Kai took in the blue flamed users words. He was confused, but quickly re-schooled his face to remained impassive. He tried, he really did, but this insufferable jackass had a habit of getting underneath his skin since day one.
The yakuza Boss' jaw clenched underneath his mask and his free gloved hand twitched, arching a thin eyebrow. "Fruity bird? Where the hell did you get that impression?" He asked calmly, his grip on his coffee mug tightening.
He was getting angrier by the minute.
Dabi's lazy grin slowly growing wider. "The toucan off the cereal box that your wife shared with me this morning." He replies causally, strutted towards the table as he finished the last bite of his muffin while sipping his coffee as a matter-of-factly. "Reminds me of another overly feathered bird with a stick up his high feathered ass."
That did it. His patience snapped and his temper flared.
Kai's quirk activated, overhauled his glove and coffee cup as the warm liquid dripped down his hand, arm and spilled onto the floor. "Want to run that joke by me again, blue flame?" He questioned, tilting his head, golden irsis' darkening and challenging.
"Sure, I can." Dabi's grin curled into something mocking. Burnt skin and staples stretching wide against his jaw, whispering slowly, "Feathered, birds of paradise, hypocrite toucan lookin' asshole."
Kai knew it was childish and immature of him, but his intrusive thoughts won. He hoped his wife would forgive him for wasting food, breaking one of her biggest pet peeves. He picked up the muffin that was left on the table with his wet and coffee soaked hand and smashed it into Dabi's smug assed face. "Here, eat this and choke on it while I wash your filthy goddamn mouth with soap." He hissed, shaking his now dirty hand.
Activating his blue flames and aiming for the birdman's face as he coughed, sputtered and closed one eye, but the yakuza boss blocked his arm and redirected his attack upwards, resulting in burn and scorch marks on the ceiling. Dabi wipped his face and raised his knee, the crow blocked his attack again and pushing him back.
Kai's gaze trailed to the ceiling as his thin brow twitched in irritation. "Dammit, I'll have to fix that." Gaze returning to the patchwork villain, clicking his tongue. "You will help me clean that today."
"I don't like being hold what to do, birdface." Dabi scoffs, hands twitching at his side. "Besides you made the first move with a childish cheap shot," he chuckles teasingly, "very mature of you, OverCrow or should I call you Toucan King?"
"You started this little squabble by provoking me first thing in the morning with your annoying chatter, nitwit." Kai pointed an accusing finger at him, walking around him and towards the sink to wash his hands. "Always have to clean someone else's messes," he grumbled to himself underneath his breath as he turned on the sink, squeezing the hand soap into his wet and sticky hand and scrubbing furiously, muttering and cursing.
Dabi snickered, finding paper towels and cleaning his face, bending down to pick up the ruined muffin off the floor and throwing it into the trash can. "Overly dramatic bird bitch," he commented, rolling his blue eyes. "He's worse than handyfreak, I swear."
"I can still hear you," Kai called back, rinsing his hands and underneath his nail, shutting the water off hard, nearly breaking the tap as he snatched the unused hand towel the walking pyromaniac hadn't touched eariler read: Fall is my second favorite F-word
Dabi's gaze fell on the hand towel, his lips quirking higher as he cackled harder. He loved his woman's twisted sense of humor he swears.
"What's so funny now?" Kai huffed, placing the hand towel back nice and neatly.
"Your face," Dabi sassed back and shaking his head, giving a dramatic sigh. "Our poor wolfy is wasting her time with a stuck up guy like you. It's a real shame, all that cheerful energy, curves and smart mouthed beauty is wasted on a Chickie like you."
Kai's hands grip the counter hard, the titles underneath his palms shatter and break, a tick mark forming on his temple as the scar on his forehead twitched and throbbed as he tried to real in his anger.
The kitchen door opens, both villains freeze.
Mary walks in with Eri hiding behind her. Eri's dressed in a white and black long sleeved shirt with a blue dress, white stockings, black Mary Jane's shoes and her hair pulled up in two twin tails. In the crook of her arms was a sketch book and a pack of color pencils.
Mary glances at the scene before her: the burnt smell making her nose twitch as she noticed both Kai's and Dabi's messy and disheveled appearance, mismatched gaze traveled from the floor to the ceiling as she concluded what happened, or at least, pieces of it. She closed her eyes and sighed, "Alright, what the hell happened this time?" Pinching the bridge of her nose as she opened her eyes to meet both sets of eyes on her.
Both pointed at each other, "He started it."
Mary put her hands on her hips, brows furrowing and her lips thinned, then snarled and glaring. "I don't care who started it, but both of you are going to clean up your mess before either of you can leave this kitchen." Her ears twitched with irritation and her tail bristling, hackles rising, waving back and forth in anger.
She gave an exasperated sigh, patting Eri lightly on the head and giving a small smile, "Eri, honey, please go sit at the table."
"Okay, mommy." Eri shyly nodded, placing her sketch book and color pencils down onto the kitchen table, and began drawing, quietly.
Mary's smile fell, marching towards the cleaning closet, pulling out a mop and bucket, filling it with a bottle of lemon scented cleaning concentrate and handing it to Dabi. He tried giving her a charming smile, but she cut him off, "Less talking and more cleaning, flame boy."
Walking around she went strait for her husband who turned his head away in shame and embarrassment, refusing to look at her, instead keeping his gaze on the wall.
"I'm sorry, angel." Kai cut in before she could open her mouth, shocking her. "I gave into my childish impulses and his teasing, losing my temper. I made a mess and ruined one of the muffins you were so excited to share with everyone today. Again, I'm sorry." He lowered his head, frowning deeply.
"Oh, Kai." Mary cupped his cheek, guiding him to meet her gaze. "I'm not mad about the muffin," she giggled, smiling and lowering his face mask, "we have plenty, even if, you know I hate wasting food." Her violet and gold hues softening, "I appreciate the apology," her voice growing playful and scolding lightly, teasing, "but you still need to clean and fix your mess, Mister Chisaki."
Kai blushed, running his hand over his mouth and nodded. Leaning forward and grazing his lips against hers, pressing a sweet and chaste kiss. "Yes, Mrs Chisaki," he whispered, lips curling into a knowing smirk, deepening the kisses and pressing her against his chest and closing his eyes. His rage cooling and a wave of calmness washed over him as her scent of vanilla filled his lungs, groaning into the kiss.
Of course, thier sweet moment of pure bliss couldn't be savored as the overly jealous human torch had to open his big, fat, burnt, scarred and stapled mouth. "Hey, no fair. How come he gets a light ass crewing and I get stuck cleaning?" He called pouting.
Mary broke the kiss, much to her husbands disappointment. Turning her head towards Dabi. "I know you started it, dumbass. You are just as bad as Kai when taking things too far." She sighed, rubbing her head.
Kai kept her pressed against him, laying his chin on her shoulder, lips curling into a smug smirk, golden eyes twinkling with mirth and victory as he soaked in his beloved wife's warmth, rubbing her hip and belly bump possessively.
Oh, it was good to be the king.
"I call hacks and favoritism," Dabi hands tightening around the mop handle in aggravation, hissing, "total bullshit."
Mary pulled away turning back around in Kai's arms, giving him another chaste kiss and pulled his duster mask back on. "Please clean up, my dearest. We have to meet with Tomura Shigaraki and Giran this morning. Don't want to be late, do we?"
Kai sighed and pressed his forehead against hers, "Yes, I know. It won't be long." He leaned back without releasing her, reaching his glove less hand out and touched the counter, activating his quirk and repairing the damage and pulling out another set of gloves from his pocket and slipping them on. "There good as new," he hummed, then his eyes glanced upwards at the ceiling, clicking his tongue. "Going to have to call a cleaner after the meeting, the longer that stain stays, the longer its going to annoy me."
"Thank you, my devil." Mary smiled, wolf ears and tail perking up and wagging as she gave him a hug which he returned, and kissed the top of her head. She pulled away and walked over towards the sulking and bitter, jealous pyromaniac, wrapping her arms around him, "Thank you, Touya," she whispered pressing her face into his back.
Dabi stiffened, then relaxed. "Your welcome, beauty," he replied back, shyly, his face growing warm.
More voices and chatter could be heard through the halls as Rappa opened the kitchen door and walked in first, laughing in disbelief, "What the hell happened in here so early in the morning? No fair! The newbie got to fight Overhole before me! I was here first shorty, get in line."
"Rappa, it's too early for you to be so loud," Kai sighed, grabbing another coffee cup from the cabinet and walking back to the coffee machine.
Chrono and Mimic followed behind their boss as they grabbed their own coffee cups.
"Grouchy Kai came back, huh?" Chrono asked Mary, hiding a teasing and knowing smirk underneath his mask, snickering.
"You could say that," Mary nodded in agreement, grabbing a box of muffins and placing it down on the kitchen table. "I made chocolate pumpkin muffin, help yourself everyone." Her mood brightening as Rappa grabbed a handful, took off his mask and started eating while Tengai offered him a large glass of milk to help wash it down.
"Slow down, Rappa," Mary giggled, smile widened, "There's plenty more."
Rappa talked in between mouthfuls, "Dammit, wish I had a cute little wife to cook and bake for me. Overhole so lucky."
Mary grew flustered. "I'm glad that you like them."
Rappa got an idea, "If you ever get tired of the boss," he leaned down, whispering into her ear, "I'll give you a wild ride, wolf girl." He straightened and winked, laughing harder as her face grew redder.
Dabi and Kai both heard that.
"Care to repeat that, Rappa," Kai asked, his tone icy and chilling.
The rest of the eight froze.
"Nothing, boss. Just teasing is all." Rappa replied, gulping down his glass of milk and sighing in content, wiping his mouth with the back of his forearm. "Whoever tries to steal our young Mistress gotta be insane and got balls of steal to challenge you."
"Get in line, gym monkey," Dabi glared while snatching another muffin, "I called dibs on our wolfish beauty first. The only one getting bird dicks sloppy seconds is me."
Mary grew more flustered, but she covered Eri's ears, glaring at both men. "Language both of you," she scolded, nudging Dabi with her foot. "I'm sloppy seconds huh, man whore?" She huffed, unplugging Eri's ears as the girl looked upwards at her mother in confusion.
"The girls heard worse." Mimic waved her off, "I promise you, my lady."
"That doesn't make me feel better, Mimic." She argued, siting down beside Eri, grabbing a muffin as Chrono handed her a glass of orange juice as he sat down.
"Blue flame, you aren't going to win any favors with our Mistress, if you insult her like that," Tengai advised calmly. "If you truly want to become a mate candidate you have a long way to go, if that's the case."
"Oh, put a sock in it, blind jesus," Dabi replied, eating. "I'll become a male consort before Shiggy."
Tengai sighed, "I'm a former monk, not blind, Dabi."
Kai's voice cut off Dabi's retort.
"Instead of thinking what my wife and my men think of you, you should be winning the respect and favor of her husband, me and her grandfather." Kai cuts in, nearly slamming his coffee cup down onto the table, sitting down in the empty seat beside his wife, and wrapping an arm around her waist.
Eri placed her color pencils down, smiling. "Mommy, can I have a muffin?"
Mary smiled and nodded, "Yes, honey, you can." She picked one out of the box and handed it to her as she whispered her thanks.
Despite all the chaos, Mary wouldn't change her new home for anything.

(Mis)Adventures of Little Wednesday- aka Wednesday’s mirror image niece
“Lunch time”
Ruthie set down Jack’s food bowl as GomezJr, Little Wednesday, Koda and Tyler all took out their lunches
Ruthie: what’s everybody got today? I got a honey baked ham sandwich with honey mustard on honey bread. And some honey potato chips with vanilla honey pudding
Dayton: -laughing as he approached the table- do you always have honey, Ruthie?
Little Wednesday: -chuckling- No! After you left, Dayton Mrs Ottinger decided to do some cooking and testing. There was a lot of food. She made three hams!! GJ and I took one home
Dayton: can I sit with you guys?
Tyler: sure! -scooting over to make room- Next weekend I’m going to be doing I guess it’s like a recital? It’s just a sort of mini circus show. You want to come watch?
Dayton: oh! Yes. My dad has to go to another swim meet with the team he coached on Saturday. The regular coach asked him to help out seeing he coached them into the regionals. My mom is having a Mary Kay party at the house. I am not allowed to be there.
Koda: I will ask Raya to call your dad. She is taking all of us to Tyler’s circus
Little Wednesday: Auntie Weenie hates makeup and stuff like that. She has to get all glammed up for press events and she hates it. Auntie Eenie loves makeup and stuff
Koda: what you have for lunch, Dayton? I have Kalua pork, rice and macaroni salad
Ruthie: wait. I have pudding for everyone. My mom even gave me an extra one in case for you, Dayton.
Dayton: wow. Thanks. I got a tuna fish sandwich. Barbecue chips and some celery with peanut butter. And now pudding!
Aiyon walked up to the table. Behind him was Tommy, Wes and Cole
Tommy: -laughing- ha! You were right. Dayton did ditch you for these losers
Cole: look at him. Sitting across from his girlfriend Wednesday
Koda: if you just going to stand there bothering us. Leave
Wes: whatcha gonna do about it, island boy? Beat us up with your fancy hula moves?
Aiyon, Tommy, Wes and Cole started laughing
Little Wednesday stood up. Koda did too
Aiyon: aww. Little stormy is going to defend her boyfriend. How cute.
Little Wednesday: first of all - grabbing Aiyon by the arm, twisting and throwing him to the ground- Little Stormy is a nickname reserved for my Grandpa -Death glaring at Cole and giving him a quick one inch punch to the chest causing him to fall back- Dayton is not my boyfriend. Just a friend who has seen what morons you guys are.
Koda: my mother teach me violence not answer. But it okay in extreme circumstance. I agree with Wednesday. You are morons. Leave.
Tommy and Wes lunged at Koda. Koda swiftly dealt with them with a series of misdirections and what looked like “accidental” punches.
The lunch room cheered and laughed at how the bullying gang was bested by the gang of misfit 1st graders
