Imagine having a villain f/o... Yes, they might seem scary towards others, especially towards the very protagonists in their story, but when it comes to you, it is a complete 360.
They love giving you tons, and I mean tons of affection. Whenever you feel stressed out or just in the mood for some PDA, they will always be there to give you the kind of love that you want.
They will also allow their henchmen to cook meals for you whenever you are sick. The kind of meal that you want doesn't matter to your f/o. They just want to see you get better.
When the moonlight arises and when the sun goes to sleep, your f/o will always be sleeping by your side. Sometimes, they might even snore loudly. But it's alright. You love them so much that it doesn't even matter... And they love you too.

Ex Dabi x reader (x Hawks) - My World
It has been a few months since you two broke up.
You said you were done being a villain and out of Dabi's life.
You apprenticed under Giran as an information broker. The man picked you up off the street as a teenage run away and you never looked back. Well, until...
That. Nosy, goodie two-shoes, two-faced, hypocritical red winged chicken sunk his talons into you.
Stole you from him.
His doll. His woman.
Dabi's usually cool and carefree composure cracks every time he sees you with Japan's Number 2 Hero. His anger, rage and red hot jealousy burning like liquid fire in his veins as he feels his burnt, scarred and stapled jaw clenching and grinding; his free hand twitches and closes into a white knuckled fist.
Seeing you smile cutely. Blushing and giggling with earnest and genuine emotion in your doe-like eyes as the bastard's gloved knuckles brush the back of your cheek, shoving a soft lock of your hair behind your ear, gently cups your jaw and brings you into a kiss.
Dabi knows this faker was a double agent. Why couldn't you see that despite his warning? You usually have an incredible sense of reading people. How could you be so blind? Unable to see this lying heartbreaker through those rose tinted glasses.
Yes. Shigaraki and Giran had given you their permission to walk away, you no longer had a criminal record or it was deleted and destroyed by your hacker friend La Brava, who chose to support you in your career change.
Shigaraki, Giran, Toga, Twice, Mr Compress and hell, even Spinner missed you.
Dabi chose to watch from the shadows. No matter how much he hardened this heart, making himself go numb, shove the earth shattering pain and heartbreak down, masking it, locking it and burning the key with his blue hellfire flames.
Only when he was alone in his room at night did he breakdown every night, releasing silent screams into his pillow that still smelled like you. The one person who thawed his icy, horribly fragile, blackened, ash covered and twisted stitched back together heart.
Clutching the blue pillow to his chest as he cried bloody tears, shuddering and sobbing quietly and mentally remembering when you used to look at him like that. As if he was your whole world.
He should hate you with every fiber left in his soul, and yet... he couldn't... he couldn't bring himself to hate you.
Not even after you shattered his heart.
Dabi's eyes widen as more red, bloody tears covered and hazed his vision.
Seeing you look at Hawks made him second guess himself. Did you truly love him at all for this past year since he's joined the League?
Or were you only using him for information?
The more Dabi questioned himself and your relationship, the more his paranoia and mind began to unravel! No, no! You loved him. You said you did! You wouldn't have stayed by his side and nursed him back to health after he'd gotten sick and injured during a mission, if you didn't love him and didn't care. Right?
He thought about the last few weeks before you decided to break up.
"Touya?" You mumbled shyly while cuddling against his naked chest on his bed.
Touya hummed, opening an eye and glanced down at you, holding you close and the other arm underneath his head.
You opened your mouth and then closed it. You sat upright, dragging the sheet with you to cover your chest and frowned, "Do you... ever thing about the future... after the war is over? After you, Shigaraki and the rest of the gang have tore down Hero Society?"
Touya raised an eyebrow. This wasn't the first time you two had had this conversation. He reassured you that he would be all yours, whispering comforting words to try and soothe your fears. But this time felt different. "Doll, what's this really about?" He sat upright, tilting his head and cupping your cheek as tears spilled down your face and down his hand as he wiped them away. "Y/n?"
"I... I don't care... what happens to the world... I can't lose you.." You whimpered, salty droplets falling harder and faster as you sobbed and hiccuped. "I'm not... strong enough..."
Touya frowned and pulled you into his chest and into his lap. "Hey, hey, shush, I'm coming back, baby." It hurt him to see you like this. He rested his chin on top of your head as he held you tight and let you cry it out. "I can't leave my crybaby all alone in this shitty world, can I?"
You both knew it was a lie. You both held onto each other tightly as each others lifelines. Knew the clock was ticking, the closer it came to the boss' hibernation to gain more power.... it was only a matter of time before The Heroes would strike. Try to capture you both and lock you away forever.
There was no All For One or Overhaul, some other big baddies to distract the Heroes attention and escape routes, do-overs, resets, check points, it was all or nothing. The game will be going on auto pilot while the boss is sleeping and the NPC's, Allies, Enemies were all gathering their strength, training and preparing.
Sniffing once you had claimed down, you pulled away. "I love you, Touya Todoroki." You whispered, breathlessly.
Touya's eyes widened and his breath stilled, his heart thudding hard in his chest. That was the first time you ever said you loved him. There was no need to before, he knew you loved him from your actions alone. Words were cheap, actions spoke louder. You always whispered his old name so sweetly, like a secret, which it was. Only you were allowed to say it in private or during your love making and rough fucking in the sheets when everyone else was gone.
Your frown deepened. "I said, I love you... aren't you going to say it back?" You fiddling with your hands, showing how nervous you were.
Touya blinked, he couldn't voice his answer. He knew that a world without you would be hollow and empty. He felt half mad and worried when you were out gathering intel and groceries for The League in a disguise since you weren't well known, but the more paranoid part of him couldn't risk it.
Your hair covered your face and you started to crawl off his lap, bottom lip trembling. "Sorry.. sorry for bother-"
Touya cut you off, leaning forward, smashing his mismatched lips with your own and pushing your back against the mattress. You gasped and moaned into the kisses as he poured all of his love, feelings, heart and passion into it. He couldn't tell you yet, not yet. Instead, he would use his body, his hands, his fingers all of him into showing you. Using his scarred, burnt and broken body as an instrument to use to pleasure you, to protect you.... you; his too kind-hearted doll. He made love to you again, more tender and gentle, forcing orgasm after orgasm from your body, and greedy for more.
Dabi shook his head, furiously wiping away and painting his cheeks red from his tears as he scowled. He replayed the day you two broke up in his head as his hands tightening into the pillow.
Anger and fury resurfacing as you had just finished talking with Shigaraki about something. He didn't like not knowing what. You were always stupidly and annoyingly over excited to share your new assignment or information with him after telling the boss.
Your smile dropped as soon as you turned back to face him. "Hi, Dabi." Your frown deepened as you glanced at your feet.
Dabi's eyes narrowed as he tilted his head. Something was wrong. You hadn't been this nervous and shy since he first joined The League. "What's wrong, "V/n?"
You bit your lip and swallowed. "Can I... talk to you in private?"
Dabi walked towards you, his movements slow and intimidating as he towered over you. His presence usually smoothed you and comforted you, but now you were cowering before him. "We are alone right now. Talk." His voice calm, but a hint of ice in it. Backing you up against the cold, hard concrete wall behind you as he pressed his hard chest against your own, arms rising and boxing you in on either side of your head. "C'mon, my little doll. Tell your boyfriend the truth like a good little girl and maybe... maybe I'll go easy on you." He cooed darkly, lips curling into a wolfish and hungry grin, you knew he'd keep his dark promises.
He knew you loved his twisted praises.
Your breath hitched and you shivered against him, cheeks heating.
Your eyes met his own as he gently gripped your chin with his thumb and forefinger. "I-.."
His mouth ghosting over your own, this cat and mouse game never grew old between you two. "Yes?" Dabi whispered low and husky, excitement and lust heating his veins.
You closed your eyes, swallowed down your fear and pushed your courage to the surface. "I want to break up with you, Dabi!" You said that a lot louder than you meant to, but you said it, nevertheless.
Dabi paused and his heart stopped, his body froze and tensed. Did he hear you right? No. He couldn't have. You were just playing with him. A joke for scaring you. "Come again?" He bit out, he felt his body growing hotter, quaking and trembling with anger.
You didn't answer, which pissed him off even more.
Pulling away from you, his blunt nails digging into the concrete and the other slamming hard into the concrete slab beside you, a blast of blue embers igniting, leaving scorch marks. "Goddammit! Answer me, Y/n!" He hissed, turquoise eyes heated and dilated in furry.
The sound of wings flapping and something sharp pressed against his neck made Dabi peak over his shoulder. Of course, the nosy, Heroic red peacock was sticking his nose into business that didn't concern him. "What do you want, Hero?" The black haired man growled, meeting Hawks own cold hearted, amber glare.
"I believe you've been dumped my friend." Hawks answered. "Now, back away from her or things will get messy." Pressing his bladed red feather further into the other man's neck. "Go walk it off, hothead."
Everything in the villains body forced him to stay still. The hell he would leave you alone with this bastard. He knew you hated Heroes. No one had saved you when you needed them most, no one else, except for Giran. Not until The League and Dabi himself protected you, their treasure and info broker, their golden egg.
You were apart of them now. Their comrade. You've cried for them. You've risked your life for them time and time again. You've bleed for them.
"I don't like being told what to do, chicken feet." Dabi fully turned, keeping his back towards you, shielding you despite how royally irritated he was at you. He wasn't going to abandon you. He'd rather let his shitty old man have a free shot than trust this faker. "Our conversation is between us, not you. Beat it before I really get angry and burn your feathers."
Hawks lowered his weapon and sighed, shrugging his shoulders. "Talk about a flare for the dramatic arts you have, Dabi." He folded his red feathers behind his back, locking his gloved hands behind his head and spun around in a circle on his heels. "The missy clearly doesn't want you anymore and you can't let go." He clicked his tongue and frown, "That's just sad man, ya know? Happens all the time. The chemistry and romance fizzles out. You two don't click anymore." His golden gaze met the flame villains.
Dabi felt as if he had been stabbed in the heart with a knife and the stupid feathered freak was twisting it, deeper and deeper. It made his ire burn hotter and flames blaze, double fists white-knuckled as his hands ignited, bursting into azure hellfire. "Last warning, bastard." His eyes narrowed, snarling. "Back the fuck off, eyesore."
Hawks raised his crimson feathered blade and got into a battle stance, "Hard way it is then, flam-o."
Hero and Villain getting ready to charge.
You ran around Dabi and stood between them, raising your arms and yelled. "Stop! Please stop!"
Dabi and Hawks paused, eyes widen.
"Doll, move."
"Get out of the way before you get hurt, little bird."
Dabi grit his teeth, he hated the stupid pet bird name Hawks gave you. It didn't suit you at all. You were his doll. His baby. His little mousy. "The fuck are you nicknamin' my girl for, fuckface?" He growled.
Hawks raised an eyebrow. "What? As of.." He tilted his head and hummed, gripping his chin, then glanced down at his watch. "Five minutes ago, the girls single and free game right?" He winked and gave you a cheeky grin.
Dabi was seeing red, his blood boiling in his veins and he felt every muscle in his body twitch and grow alight. "The hell she is. Dream on, playboy." Bursts and sparks of his blue flames randomly appearing over his body: the side of his head, his palms and his shoulder. He hunched his shoulders, getting ready to charge using his legs and his flames as you stepped towards him.
He remained rooted on the spot, a heated and frustrated groaning hiss leaving his already raspy vocal cords. "Move out of my way, baby or you'll get hurt! I'm warning you, dammit!"
You puffed out your cheeks and chest. He knew you did it when your more stubborn and bratty streak came out while challenging him.
He normally would tease you and call you cute, playing your bluff. You were a shitty liar and had a terrible poker face. But right now was not one of those times.
"I'm not moving, Dabi." You spat, tears prickling the corners. "You either back down or run me over. Your choice?" Your voice cracked and breaking, voice trembling, the next few words felt like acid. "Hawks... is right... its over... Dabi.." Your body quivering and you sobbed, letting your tears spill freely. You would have fallen onto your knees and onto the ground had Hawks not caught you and pulled you into his arms.
"Hey, it's okay, I'm here, birdy." Hawks whispered softly into your ear, cradling you against his chest, wrapping one of his feathered wings around you and shielding you from Dabi's view.
Dabi's flames vanished, he shook his head. No. You didn't mean it. You couldn't mean it. It's a lie.... he thought, that fake motherfucker poisoned your mind with his false chivalry and play boyish charms. God, please, please... tell me this is all a nightmare. He swallowed the hard lump in his throat. He just realized that he said those words out loud, he own voice sounded foreign to him, broken, needy and pleading.
That wasn't like the infamous, cold-hearted, Dabi at all.
Hawks glanced over to the flame user with pity and sympathy. "Hate to break it to ya buddy, but it is." He picked you up in his arms as you wrapped your arms around his neck and sobbed harder into his bombers jacket. The Hero turned, but Dabi caught the frown and sorrow behind Hawks golden viser.
No. It clicked, that flying rat was in love with you!
You were letting him touch you and comfort you, which was his job.
Dabi shook himself, "Put her down, bird bitch." Jealousy already settling into his bones and twisting in his gut. If you left with Hawks, it would truly be over and you never explained why?! So many unanswered questions swirling in his mind.
Were you cheating on him with Hawks? No.
Hawks half turned, soften golden orbs glowered. "If you attack me. You risk hurting your ex-lover pyro. Is that what you want, hot shot?" He argued, scowling. "Hurting a defenseless woman out of anger? Pathetic man." His red feathers ruffled and flapped with aggravation and irritation, growing razor sharp. "Try it and I won't be nice a second time."
Dabi grit his teeth, his fists clenched so hard, his nails dug into his palms, breaking the skin, blood spilling from the wound and dripping on the ground. He didn't feel it. Couldn't even, if he tried. His sense of pain was dulled, except for the unbearable pain in his chest, his heart, and his soul. "Get the fucking hell out of my sight before I change my mind, Hero." He spat with venom as he stormed off in the opposite direction.
Dabi wouldn't admit it, but he regretted not stealing you away from Hawks when he had the chance. The next morning, you left a letter on his pillow saying that you had quit.
Standing from the bed, wearing only his sweatpants, he began to pace back and forth. The more he walked circles round and round the room, the more frustrated and heated he became, nearly tearing his hair out of his scalp.
So many puzzle pieces were missing. He couldn't ask the boss since he was still asleep. Dabi was tempted to barge into Twice's room and demand for him to make a clone of you. He needed answers, but he also missed you so goddamn much. He missed you hogging the blanket in the middle of the night, you wearing one of his shirts to bed and nothing else, you sleep in his bed and that cute, dopey, half sleepy and half awake smile on your face as he brought you your morning coffee.
Why couldn't you see that you were his whole goddamn world? He'd do anything to make you happy. He'd burn the world and anyone you asked him too.
Were you ashamed of him? Calling him your boyfriend? That he didn't repeat those three little words back to you when he should have? Of course, he loved you! He thought you knew that. Trusted him.
Dabi dug his blunt nails into his skull harder. What the fuck was he missing?!
It's all that stupid, huffing, puffing, red feathered assholes fault!
Hawks. Damned nosy, kiss ass.
Piss ant. Poser. Traitor. Double crossing, Hero spy.
Dabi's eye widened a fraction. Spy? Spy!
He stopped his pacing and his clawing. Scarred, burnt, stapled lips quirking and twitching into a feral, twisted and chesire cat grin. A string of giggles slipping past his mouth, laughing and snickers growing in volume, he spun on his heels, round and round, faster and faster, cackling into madness and hysterics.
All of it made sense now. You weren't in love with that prick. You were a spy for The League! Who better to butter-up that pansy than you.
Dabi signed and threw his body back onto his bed, half delirious and dizzy, the room spinning, his body still shook and giggles died in his throat and trying to regain his breath. Oh, my brilliant and beautiful, crafty doll. He wished he could kiss you and smother you with cuddles, praises, love bites and bury himself into your warmth and body. My naughty girl, keeping a secret mission from me. His little mousy had truly grown into a fine villain.

If you could go back, would you change what happened?
This is something that you often ask yourself.
You think about that fateful day frequently. It was the summer before your first year at Merlin Academy. You had finally convinced your parents, the famed mermaid Ariel and her Prince Eric, to let you go for a swim unsupervised. Being half-mermaid, half-human allowed you to transform back and forth at will. And although life on land was pretty good, your heart always ached to go back to the sea, to feel the cold, salty water as it engulfs you. To race along the reefs, tail swishing back and forth, allowing you to reach speeds far past what your human form can do. To leisurely swim amongst the many species of fish and plants that created the world of the ocean. To go back home.
Your parents had already gone over the rules with you hundreds of time, to the point where you could recite each one of them word for word: “Don’t go past the boundaries,” “Don’t approach any animals you don’t know,” “Don’t go so deep where you can’t see any light,” “Come out at the first sign of bad weather,” and, most importantly, “Do not, under any circumstances, interact with any humans.”
Your mother may be renowned for rescuing a stranger from the unrelenting grasps of the sea—if she hadn’t, you wouldn’t even be here right now—but that was a very rare case. Far more often than not, mermaid interactions with humans out on the waters ended up in the mermaid being tortured, held hostage, or even killed.
You knew the rules by heart, and yet, maybe it was because of your young age, you still broke them. You weren’t really aware of your actions in the moment; one second, you were swimming alongside a pod of dolphins, racing against the currents. The next, you heard loud voices and realized that almost directly above you, yet still a good few dozen meters away, was some sort of ship.
You had ducked down next to a big sponge, peering up apprehensively. It was at that moment you realized that you were far outside of the boundaries set for you by your parents. You should have turned back, should have swam back home, but there was something about the ship, something that intrigued you so much it forced you to stay in place.
A few moments passed, and seeing as there was no commotion, you let your curiosity get the better of you. After all, that ship shouldn’t even have been out there. Slowly, you crept closer and closer to the surface, making sure to remain in the shadows. The noises were becoming clearer; you could make out people’s voices now. But they still weren’t sharp enough for you to understand what they were saying.
Finally, you took the risk and poked your head out of the water near the rear of the ship. The sight before you elicited a sharp gasp, and made you wish you had just gone back when you still had the chance.
Extended from the side of the ship was a long, wooden plank. Standing on one side of it (the safe end), was a man, gagged, blindfolded, and bound. He looked to be no older than forty, with a scraggly beard and ripped clothes.
A pirate.
Another figure emerged, walking to the edge of the deck. Your reflexes caused you to duck down quickly, so only your eyes were barely above the water. This figure was much younger, with dark brown hair parted neatly and angular features twisted into a wicked smile. He donned a maroon blazer that covered a white shirt with an upturned collar. Something in his left hand shined brilliantly under the sun’s bright rays.
The younger figure laughed, but not in the way one would laugh at a funny joke. He unsheathed a cutlass from his side, using it to poke the back of the man on the plank.
“You see, Mr. Jones? This is what happens when you cross the most feared pirate captain in all the lands!” the young figure roared as he yanked off the older man’s blindfold, revealing to him his fate. The fear and panic that spread across the man’s face has been forever etched into your mind, even to this day.
You heard the man beg and plea for mercy, watched as every move he made caused the plank to sway even more violently. The pirate captain simply laughed, his crew along with him. Finally, when you suppose he tired of hearing the man grovel, you watched in terror as the captain gave the man a good kick in the back, finally sending him over the edge.
Suddenly, it was like the world was spinning in slow motion. The man plummeting off the wooden platform, falling, falling, falling. His screams muffled by the cloth around his mouth. Then, all too soon, he made contact with the water with a loud splash.
He sank quickly, devoured by the ocean’s waters within the blink of an eye. Your young, distraught face watched as a few bubbles rose to the surface. Then nothing. All that remained of the man’s existence, all there was to give proof that he had ever even been there, were a few ripples in the water.
That was it.
You were frozen in shock. How–what–why? Your brain could barely string together a comprehensive sentence. All you were sure of was the feeling inside you. You couldn’t quite put it into words, could barely even understand it. But it made your tail ache to move, made you feel as if you simply couldn’t stay in one place any longer.
You dove beneath the surface, frantically swimming towards the direction where you saw the man go under. You kept looking around, searching, but to no avail. You decided to dive deeper, swimming lower and lower until the water around you was near pitch-black. You were growing more and more panicked by the second, because every second you wasted was another second the man grew closer to death.
Finally, you caught a glimpse of movement out of the corner of your eye. Hope flaring, you darted towards it, the figure becoming clearer the closer you got.
It was him.
You reached out and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt to prevent him from sinking farther. His eyes were shut and he wasn’t breathing, but you could still hear a heartbeat. There was still time left.
Wrapping your arms around him, you started the difficult journey back to land. Thankfully, you knew of a small island not too far from here. Swimming with the added weight of a fully grown man was incredibly difficult, especially for a young mermaid, but you persisted. After all, this was his life on the line.
You swam as hard as fast as you could, and thankfully, by some blessing from the heavens, found a warm water current going the direction you were. You let it carry you, the rushing stream multiplying your efforts. Finally, after what seemed like hours but must have only been a couple of minutes, you reached the island.
Letting the wave wash you up on shore, you settled the man down on the soft sand the first chance you got. You rolled him to his front, which was quite the endeavor itself. His heartbeat had grown more shallow, but it was still there. There was still hope.
Using the skills your mother had taught you, you started to nurse the man back to health using your melodic voice. Ever since you were young, she had explained to you the gift bestowed upon mermaids, the power of healing through song. She taught you to sing before you could walk, and it was the one thing that you were sure you could do right.
As you sang your strange and melodious tune, it finally occurred to you that you were breaking the most sacred of rules. Not only were you interacting with a stranger, you were coaxing him back to life. Like mother, like daughter, you thought. I suppose healing strangers who were drowning at sea runs in my blood.
The only caveat to your healing powers is that it takes quite some time to have its full effects. You don’t know how long you sat on the beach, but it had been quite some time. You probably would have been there for much longer had it not been for the boom voice that sounded behind you, waking you from your trance of song.
“Well, I’ll be. If it isn’t a mermaid.”
You practically jumped out of your fins as you turned around, startled beyond words. There, towering above you, was the evil pirate captain you saw earlier. He was even younger than you had previously thought. In fact, he couldn’t be much older than you. You wondered for a fleeting moment how a kid like that could command an entire ship full of grown—and scary-looking—men, but decided you have bigger matters at hand to worry about.
A few members of his crew lurked behind the captain, and you could see a small lifeboat docked to the ground near the coastline. Further beyond that, his ship swayed in the ocean waves, dark against the bright horizon.
You followed the pirate’s gaze down to your tail, which was still out. You silently cursed yourself for forgetting to transform back into your human form, being too distracted by saving the man to pay attention to your own safety.
You wanted to yell at the cruel pirate for trying to kill this man. No matter who he was, what he had done, he didn’t deserve to die. At least not like that. But the words got caught in your throat, so while a war raged inside your mind, you were completely quiet on the outside, simply staring up at the man with wide doe eyes.
“You have a lovely voice,” the man said, with a tone that you wouldn’t quite imagine a killer using. He must have overheard me sing earlier, you thought to yourself. “Tell me, little mermaid, who taught you to sing?”
“M-my mother,” you replied weakly, your voice far more meager and small than you wanted it to be. You were still staring up at him, afraid of what he’d do to you.
“Your mother? Well, that’s quite interesting.” The captain raised his left hand to scratch at his chin, which is when you realized that it wasn’t a hand at all. Instead of a hand was a curved metal hook, with a sharp point gleaming at the end. So that must be the shiny thing I saw earlier, you thought.
“Oh, where are my manners?” laughed the pirate abruptly. “My name is Captain James Hook, leader of the Jolly Roger. And you are?”
You blinked, almost forgetting your own name. If it were a less tense moment than this, you would have laughed at the fact that his name is rather befitting for him. “Y/N,” you respond.
“Y/N…Now, where have I heard that name before?” He tapped his chin with his hook again.
“Sir, that’s the name of Princess Ariel’s daughter,” one of the big, meaty pirates behind him answered in a gruff voice.
“That’s right!” Hook exclaimed. “You’re the mermaid’s daughter. You know, rumor has it you’ll be joining me at Merlin’s Academy in the fall, is that right?”
For some reason, your voice seemed to not work anymore, so you settled for nodding. Join him? you pondered. You didn’t know that he was also a student at the school you were planning to attend.
Hook started pacing along the beach, arms crossed with his hooked hand extended, deep in thought. You watched him, fear growing by the second. A sly smirk spread across his face, which only served to fuel the flames of your worry.
“You know, you directly defied my command by saving that man,” he started. Slowly. Deliberately. Choosing every word precisely and carefully, like a shark circling its prey. “Do you even know why I made him walk the plank?” You shook your head no, the panic in you reaching record heights.
“That man”—he vaguely gestures towards the unconscious body laying on the beach with his hook—“stole an entire week’s worth of rations from my ship. An entire week’s worth of food and rum for an entire crew. Had he gotten away with it, we likely would have starved to death out at sea. Does he seem so innocent now, little mermaid? So worth saving?”
Again, you shook your head no. Although you agreed he definitely wasn’t an innocent man, you still didn’t see making him walk the plank a justifiable punishment. Despite your thoughts, you kept your mouth shut. Angering the captain further was not going to do you any good.
“Now, if anyone else had done something like this, I wouldn’t hesitate to cut their head right off,” Hook said menacingly, and with a swish, unsheathed his sword once again. You flinched—hard—and scrambled to back away from him.
Hook took note of this, and, sheathing his sword, crouched down to get on the same level as you. “But don’t worry, little mermaid. I won’t hurt you. You see, you’ve piqued my interest. Plus, it would do me no favors to have a little girl’s blood on my hands.”
You let out a breath you hadn’t even realized you were holding. So he’s not going to kill me, right?
“But, alas, you can’t leave unpunished, now, can you?” he added. Your eyes grew impossibly wider, your entire body shaking in fear. This was it. He was going to kill you, or do something equally worse.
“I demand”—you already felt a tear slip down your cheek—“that you write to me for the remainder of the summer.”
Wait, what?
“W-write?” you asked in disbelief. “As in…”
“Letters,” Hook finished for you. “Write me letters. I’ll give you the mailing address of the Jolly Roger. Write me everyday, and I’ll promise I’ll write you back whenever we dock. How does that sound?”
“O-okay,” you reply, still taken aback by the peculiar, and far more lenient than you’d expected, request. That was all you had to do? Write letters? As punishment for saving the life of someone he’d ordered to die? You must be dreaming.
“Oh, and,” Hook said, voice lowered as he leaned in close to you, until he was just a hair’s breadth away from your ear. You could feel his warm breath on your skin, his alluring scent of salty winds and something richer, deeper, filling your lungs. “I look forward to seeing you in the fall. Don’t forget me, my little mermaid.”
With that, he stood up, smoothing out the lines on his pants. “You wouldn’t happen to need a ride back home, would you, love?”
You shook your head no, too terrified of him changing his mind to spend another moment in his presence. You glanced back at the man lying behind you, still unconscious. “W-what about him? What will you do with him?” you managed to choke out, somehow finding your voice again.
Hook pondered this for a long minute, before finally answering, “He can live.” You let out a shaky breath. “But only because of you, little mermaid. And only this time. You go against my wishes again, and trust me, your punishment will be far more severe.”
And with that, he went back to his ship and sailed away.
You still muse about that day, thinking how different things would have been if you had changed just one little thing.
You kept your promise of writing him letters, too afraid to know what would happen when you had to inevitably face him in the fall to break it. At first, they started out simple. Ordinary recounts of your day, your favorite things, what you liked to do. As the weeks passed, you started writing more personal letters. How you felt about certain things or certain people, including your parents. You never spoke a word of that fateful day to them, knowing that you’d be grounded for life and forbidden from swimming ever again if they caught even a whiff of the danger you had put yourself in.
Hook kept his promise, too. He wrote you back, although it was far less frequent than your letters. Even though he kept his responses short and concise, you always ended up hearing his voice in your head as you read his notes. You soon found yourself checking your mailbox daily, even getting to know the mailman rather well. The rush of dopamine you got every time you opened it to find a letter awaiting you was unmatched; you would always run upstairs to your room, lock the door, and pour over the note. Reading every line, every word over and over again, committing them to memory.
You don’t know why you enjoyed these little letters so much. Maybe it was the thrill of having a secret that no one else knew of, or the absence of your usual loneliness every time you were reminded that somewhere out there, across the seas, was someone awaiting your letters, reading them, and writing back to you. Whatever it was, your heart started to form an emotional attachment to him without you even realizing it.
Unbeknownst to you, that had been his exact plan all along.
It’s safe to say that once you started school at Merlin Academy, Hook’s—or James’s, as he insisted on you calling him—grip on you only grew. Things started out pretty normal: light conversations in class and stolen looks exchanged across the hall, mostly initiated by him. After the first few weeks passed, things between you two only grew. Secret meetings during lunch hours, rendezvous after school, and small gifts exchanged between the two of you. From there, it became brushing your hands together whenever you passed by each other, soft pecks on the cheek or forehead where there were prying eyes, and more passionate kisses when the two of you finally found time to be alone.
Truth be told, you don’t really know what you two are now. Normally, you would consider two people that partake in such actions to be courting, and you kind of assume you are. But James has never said anything about a relationship to you, and in all honesty, you’re too afraid to ask him. You feel terribly confused at his intentions towards you; on the one hand, he approaches you every day without fail, even if you try to ignore him or when your schedules don’t match up. Somehow, he always finds a way. On the other hand, he never asked you to be his lover, never even vaguely mentioned anything of the sorts. So, you decided, with a heavy heart, to not be too confident and consider yourself his partner. And unfortunately, that meant that he wasn’t yours, either.
Really, you never meant to grow so involved with the bastard pirate that threatened to kill you on the beach that day. But for some strange reason, instead of treating you coldly like he did everyone else, especially the other hero kids, he was softer with you. Considerate, even. You had half-expected him to want nothing to do with you after your first few interactions, but he kept seeking you out. You often opened your locker to a note inside, or entered your dorm to find a letter slipped beneath the door.
Today was one of those days. You had gotten a note telling you to wait for him in your usual place in the evening, after classes. So here you are, waiting, staring at the water fountain in the courtyard. You’ve always been transfixed by the way the water spurts out the center and splashes all around. It seems that whenever you’re alone with your thoughts, they always end up back to that fateful day you met James, and everything that’s happened since.
“Wait for me long, my little mermaid?” a deep voice whispers in your ear from behind. You jump only a little, far more used to James sneaking up on you now than you used to be. For some reason, it seems he loves to startle you by wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you in close from behind, or speaking softly in your ear.
You twirl around, a delighted expression on your face, although you try to mask it with a feigned annoyance. “And if I say I did?”
“Well then, I’d have to find a way to make it up to you then, wouldn’t I, darling?” he purrs, using his hook to spin you around in his arms so you’re face-to-face. His lips make his way to yours, pulling you in for a slow, sensual kiss. You wrap your arms around his neck, bringing his head closer to yours, not able to get enough of his touch.
The feeling of his skin against yours ignites something in you, and you find your mouth opening to give him more access as a soft whimper escapes your lips. One hand reaches into his hair, tugging at it gently from the base of his head, while the other one trails down the front of his shirt.
James leans into you even further, your bodies flush against each other now, as he deepens the kiss. You find yourself leaning against the edge of the water fountain, the cool sprinkles providing a welcomed contrast to your heating-up bodies.
Once you’ve completely lost your breath, you pull away just slightly, a love-drunk smile on your face. “You had a request for me?” you whisper, panting, eyes full of adoration for the man you were interlocked with.
James breaks into a grin. A genuine one, not one of the smirks he flashes to uphold his patented suave demeanor. “Ah, yes, how could I forget, my love?”
He pulls further away to give you two enough room to breathe, yet keeping his good hand on the small of your back. “I was reminded today that it's been quite some time since I’ve heard your voice, my little mermaid.”
You give a little smile, deciding to mess with him a bit. “Whatever do you mean? You hear my voice every day. I mean, you’re even hearing it right now.”
James cocks his head to the side and raises a single eyebrow, clearly aware of your antics. “Your other voice, love.”
You giggle. “Fine, all right. Only for you,” you say, giving him a peck on the nose.
You sit down on the ledge of the fountain, turning back to stare at the water again. Although it has been a long time since you stretched your tail and went for a swim, simply seeing the rushing water soothes you. It isn’t quite like being immersed in it, but it still gives you some semblance of comfort.
You reach into the pool at the bottom, letting the cool water rush along your fingertips as you inhale a deep breath. Through your mermaid abilities, your voice twists into an otherworldly song, filling the space with a mellifluous sound.
James takes a place on the ledge next to you, reaching into the water to hold your submerged hand. You don’t really feel it, too transfixed on the rushing waves. You don’t see the way James gazes at you, like you’re his entire world. The softness, the tenderness in his eyes, which he reserves for you only. He looks at you not as if you’re his sun, something too bright to ever stare directly at, something violent and explosive and harmful, but as if you’re his moon.
As if you’re the figure he watches every night before he closes his eyes, and the one he wishes to see again when he wakes up. As if you’re the only thing he notices every time the darkness envelops him, your presence never falling off the pedestal he places it on in his mind. Never losing its worth. He looks at you, your soft glow and mesmerizing shimmer, as if you’re the only thing filling up the night sky. The stars and constellations pale in comparison to you, especially on your best nights, when you shine so magnificently.
You are the moon, and he is the tide of the ocean, constantly being pulled in by you. Never being able to escape the grasp you have on him, the grasp you are so blissfully unaware of. He stares at you in awe and wonder, bathing in your gorgeous light, so close yet always so far away. Sitting all alone against the dark backdrop of the evening sky, waiting for him to come back to you. And without reason, you always disappear. Always leaving him wanting more, waiting till the moment he can bathe in your presence again.
As you sing, the tide gets pulled in by the gravity of the moon. Your lyrical voice bounces off the stone walls, surrounding you both, just as the moonlight surrounds the waves on that mystical night.
But the moonlight is only a reflection of the sun’s glow, is it not? When daylight comes, the moon will pull away from the waves, its absence in the sky all but forgotten in the sun’s presence. And as dawn breaks, so too will the pull between the moon and ocean.

Hey y'all! I'm finally back and ready to write! Here is a part two of the 'Hero's special event' snippet. I don't know if it is going in the direction everyone thought, but sometimes the characters decide the plot, not me. I hope y'all enjoy!
Part One here!
It had started as a quiet night. For that, Hero was grateful. They really didn’t feel like dealing with anything more than the occasional small-time hood. They had chosen to come back on a Thursday specifically because the last night before the weekend always seemed to be the one every big time Villain took off.
“Finally back, are you?”
They thought too soon.
“Awful long time you took. No one can afford a honeymoon that long…well most not anyone. Thought you had retired for a couple weeks there,” the words were said with a slight chuckle.
Villain leisurely sauntered across the dank rooftop with a practiced ease. From where Hero was, leaning against the retaining wall overlooking the city, they could tell Villain thought the words much more important than how they were presenting them. Villain’s walk was relaxed, but their shoulders were coiled and tight.
Hero quirked an eyebrow, side eyeing them through the thin layer of their mask; “Almost did.”
Villain froze in their approach.
“But not for the reason you think,” Hero finished.
Villain folded their arms. “Then why?”
Hero dragged out a breath, regretting their decision to quit smoking all those years ago.
“Doesn’t matter. I’m here now… ready and able to fight for truth and justice,” Hero hoped it didn’t come out as sarcastic as they felt. “And what are you doing here? You can’t possibly want to rob this place. It’s all low income housing.”
“I don’t rob anyone making less than 30k a year,” Villain shrugged. “I have standards.”
And morals, thought Hero. It was half the reason Hero went along with their casual chats.
They both stood in awkward silence for a few moments. Hero didn’t really know what to say. A part of them wanted to head to the nearest ladder, go home and call in Other Hero to cover the rest of their shift; and another, more confusing part of them wanted to apologize to Villain for being gone so long in the first place.
“So?” Hero settled for the third option. Awkward conversation.
“So?” Villain echoed.
“So, what are you doing here?”
Villain had the audacity to look confused. “Looking for you of course.”
That…wait…
Hero was not expecting that.
“A little birdie told me you’d finally come back. Came to see how the wedding went. Though after a two month long honeymoon I can take a guess.” Villain finished their way toward Hero and leaned against the wall next to them. Their shoulders were almost touching though neither looked directly at the other. Both their gazes were stretched over the city they each had very different plans for.
“Seriously, who takes a honeymoon that long anyway?” Villain huffed. “Hell, after that long I’d be ready for divorce.”
Hero subconsciously rubbed the front of their suit where a pocket would normally be in their civilian clothes.
“Not a problem when you're on the honeymoon by yourself,” Hero padded their pockets, knowing that logically there was nothing there. Seriously, why had they ever given up smoking?
“What?”
Hero finally looked at Villain. By what they could see of Villain's face, what wasn’t covered by the eye mask, there was a look of sudden shock and bewilderment.
“Do you have a cigarette?” Hero asked abruptly.
“By yourself…Hero why were you…wait, what?” Villain looked like an old Dell processor trying to compute dial up for the first time.
“A cigarette,” Hero stated. “Do you have one?”
They didn’t ask about a light. Their powers were more than sufficient to light a menthol.
Villain blinked a couple times, staring Hero in the eyes. “No. I don’t smoke.”
Hero huffed,
“Of course you don’t.” They pushed off the wall and started towards the ladder down to the fire escape.
“Hang on, where are you going?” Hero felt a light brush against their arm. Probably Villain having reached out and then thought better of it.
“To a corner store. There’s one two blocks down,” Hero didn’t break stride.
“For what?”
“A cigarette!” Hero barked. They turned to face Villain as they mounted the latter. “Obviously!”
“Since when do you smoke?” Villain kicked up a light jog across the rooftop to reach Hero before they stared down.
Hero rolled their eyes even though Villain couldn’t see it through the mask.
“I don’t..well I used to…” Their emotions were getting the best of them. God, why did they have to tell Villain they went on the honeymoon alone? It had just slipped out! Shit, they hadn’t even told the other Heros. It was just too humiliating…but of course, two sentences from Villain and Hero was spilling their guts. They knew they should have taken a longer absence.
“I do now…again!” Hero settled on. They hopped down two rungs before feeling strong grips on their forearms. Villain held on securely and they leaned over the latter to look down at Hero, their gaze intense.
“Let go,” Hero said.
“Not before I have answers,” Villain replied softly.
“I said, let go.”
“That’s not an answer.”
“Let go!”
“Still no.”
Hero tightened their grip on the rungs that Villain held their arms to. In one fluid motion they took all their weight onto their hands, lifted themselves off the ladder and, in a move that would make gymnasts jealous, kicked Villain square in the chest.
It wasn’t the hardest they've ever kicked Villain, but it was enough to make Villain stumble back, releasing Hero’s arms and taking a deep breath from the impact.
Hero landed gracefully on their feet, once again on the rooftop.
“Thank you,” they said sarcastically, “for letting go.”
Villain let out one last cough and straightened up. “Okay…I deserved that. But you can’t just lay a bomb like that on me and then leave for…for a cigarette? Really?”
“Well forgive me for thinking that after five years I should be entitled to have one.”
Villain shook their head, “Oh, for the love of…after five years you shouldn’t be entitled to a smoke, you shouldn’t want one at all! But that’s not the point here…” “It sure seems like the point since you’re so invested in my lungs for some reason…”
“THE POINT,” Villain cut them off, “is you going on a honeymoon alone. I’m guessing that means what I think it means. And… the reason you’ve been gone so long.” Their voice softened by the end.
Somehow, the softening of their tone made the coiled frustration inside Hero ease a little.
“Yeah…yeah.” Hero sounded defeated.
Villain slowly approached them. Hero slumped their shoulders and leaned heavily against the ladder rungs.
“What happened, Hero?” Villain asked.
Hero felt their resolve, a hard frosted thing they didn’t even realize was surrounding them, crumble.
“Was it your father? Did he show up?”
Hero let out a rueful chuckle, “Oh yeah, he showed up alright.”
Villain tensed.
“But, as much of a nuisance as he is, he’s not what ruined everything. Surprisingly he was well behaved, despite crashing.”
Hero felt their throat tightening. God, this was so humiliating.
“Come on Hero, give me something.” Villain leaned into their space, their tone taking on a light tone in an attempt to soften the conversation. “Don’t tell me you pulled a Friends moment and said the wrong name at the altar?” They patted Hero’s shoulder. Hero forced out a breath.
“I didn’t say the wrong name.”
The hand on their shoulder stiffened.
“You mean…no…your fiance?”
“Said the wrong name. Yes. Or the right name, if you want to think about it that way, since they're now planning their wedding.” Hero looked down. Tears threatened to leak past their mask and they didn’t want Villain seeing. It was bad enough they had dwelled on this for two months. They had told themselves they should be past this…but the look on their fiance’s face…the humiliation of it happening in front of their family and friends…and the heartbreak of finding out their love was not reciprocated…it was still so much.
“Oh, Hero…” Villain whispered. Suddenly, Hero felt strong arms around them and their head was pressed against a shoulder. “I’m so sorry.”
Their resolve turned to dust.
“I just…” Hero’s breath hitched and a sob escaped them. No one had just held them like this. After the fact, Hero’s family and friends and all tried to console them, words like it just wasn’t meant to be and there’s other fish in the sea were spoken again and again, but no one had let them just be. Just feel the pain and let it out.
“It was so humiliating,” Hero choked out into Villain’s suit.
“I can’t imagine,” Villain rubbed circles into Hero’s back.
“I wasn’t enough…I knew it…I know I’m busy all the time…but I thought we could get through it ... .god, I would have retired early if they had asked…but I just wasn’t enough…”
They couldn’t continue, sobs which had been suppressed for two months finally breaking free and flowing out of them like a tidal wave.
After what felt like hours, they came back to themselves and realized that Villain and lowered them both to the ground and was steadily rubbing comforting circles into their back. They sniffled and shifted. They opened their mouth to apologize when Villain said,
“You are enough Hero.”
Villain took a deep breath and the shaking of their shoulders, which hero hadn’t even felt at first with their own crying, lessened. “Hell, you’re more than enough. Better than enough. And you deserve someone who sees you as their whole world. Not just a spouse, not just a partner…but everything. They should see you as their everything.” Villain shifted and gently put Hero at arms length so as to look into Hero’s mask, “I know you can’t feel that now, but you will. Given time, you’ll realize that you’re better off and you deserve to be someone’s first and only choice, not a backup to the one they actually want at the altar.” If not for the conviction, Hero would have thought Villain sounded angry.
Hero nodded. They knew what Villain was saying was true, they had known it all along. It just hurt to have your heart broken.
“Why do you care?” Hero wasn’t sure what spurred them to ask that question, but it had slipped out nonetheless.
Villain pulled them close once more.
“Because I never would have left you at the altar.”
It was a solid minute before those words sunk in.

I keep forgetting how TAME a lot of self proclaimed bad guy enthusiasts are, especially in mainstream fandoms.
I respect your taste but that’s not what I’m looking for, I’m not here for a misunderstood brooding bad boy I think it’s very hot when they torment and enslave the innocent.

“But Ascended Astarion is so evil and abusive”
Duh that’s why I love him so much. He’s not even that bad, like I promise it could be soooo much worse. Here’s list of examples to put it into perspective for you.
Honorable mentions: Nnoitra from Bleach, Sasori and Madara from Naruto, and a childhood sweet heart of mine Jeff the Killer <3
It’s a good thing I also like women cause if I pursued my taste in men I’d be dead in a ditch somewhere. (Not that my taste in women is much better)
My taste in men being on the spectrum of trapped in a vicious cycle of abuse, narcissistic misogynists, and straight up serial killers.
I felt like a full text post wouldn’t do this justice so I made a video lol
Like why is it so hard to accept that people have different tastes and preferences? No one’s giving out an award for pretending to have the moral high ground over a fictional characters. I just don’t understand the obsessive need to constantly call out people over a character that they don’t even like. Loving villains isn’t new lol
#no I wouldn’t be scared of him#cause to me he’s not even that bad#like one of the least problematic men I love#I can’t see myself in a healthy relationship even in my fantasies#like idk what that even looks like#bg3#baldurs gate 3#baldurs gate#astarion#bg3 astarion#baldurs gate astarion#ascended astarion#villain lover
