Not gonna lie I love this
sirius thinking that remus is trans because regulus acts similarly when he gets his period before they find out he is a werewolf
sirius: hm, remus is always moody and in pain once a month... just like regulus is. guess he's trans! better make sure he knows i still care about him!
cue sirius giving him chocolate and healing potions around every full moon, not thinking much of it and just trying to support his friend
remus, internally panicking: holy fuck he knows now i have to run away from hogwarts and never come back my life is over what do i do

Friendsgiving was a hit. It was so incredibly fun getting to know everyone, eating delicious food (you were definitely going to ask Pandora for her pumpkin pasty recipe), and playing so many games. You played a couple rounds of spoons which ended in James and Marlene wrestling for the last spoon and, surprisingly, Marlene won. James claimed she was cheating saying “I had four sevens!” making everyone laugh.
“Gotta be quicker, Potter, I thought you were the ‘best chaser in a generation’” She mocked. You didn’t quite understand, but laughed along with the group, mostly at James’s pout.
As the night went on, you found yourself opening up to the others, becoming fast friends with both Pandora and Dorcas. At one point in the night, Sirius complained that they were stealing you from them. Dorcas just pulled you closer by your shoulders and stuck her tongue out at him. You laughed and let yourself be pulled into Pandora and Dorcas’s embrace. Sirius huffed and walked away.
“So, Y/N” Pandora continued your conversation, “Are you seeing anyone?”
Your eyes widened, surprised by her forwardness. “Oh uh… not exactly.” you chuckled. You looked down at your lap, trying to avoid the awkward feeling that was creeping up.
“Really?,” she asked “But, with looks like yours, I would have thought that you had the boys lining up around the block.” she said, cozying up to you in an attempt to get more out of you. You just shook your head, lowering your gaze and trying to fight back the reddening of your cheeks.
“Well do you at least have your eye on someone?” Pandora asked in her soft airy voice. She had a genuine look of interest in her eyes that combated the look of mischief in Dorcas’s.
You again shook your head, not sure how to answer her, or better, how to not answer her. You were definitely not about to let your heavily guarded crush, or maybe crushes, slip out. Who knows who could hear this conversation. You definitely saw these girls as your friends now, but there is no one close enough to you that you would openly tell who you were secretly crushing on.
Besides, if your little crush got out it could mean ruining your friendships and possibly your entire living situation. Yes, you had a crush on your roommates. Each of your roommates had different reasons that attracted you but, you couldn’t help the warm little feelings you would get when you were around them. You tried your hardest for a long time to ignore that nagging little feeling, to let it go and pretend it meant nothing, but you found yourself feeling like a schoolgirl around them. You had become very close to them very quickly, and somewhere along the way, you realized how genuinely great they were to you, how they treated you.
You were perfectly content to leave it at just that, just roommates who cared a lot about each other, but you found yourself longing for more. Especially when you found them snuggling under a blanket on the couch while you all watched a movie together or when you came home to find them napping all together. At first you were jealous in these moments, wanting it to be you instead, but then that feeling grew into longing, realizing that you wanted to be right in the middle of it all with them.
You liked all three of the boys equally, which confused you even more. You couldn’t choose one over the other two and possibly throw off the whole dynamic in the house. And then there was the thought of if it didn’t work out, what then.
So you just decided to hold this secret in, try to let it pass.
“Uh… not really.” You lied, shaking your head. Both Pandora and Dorcas looked at you like they didn’t believe you, but didn’t push any further.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw two figures enter you and the other girl's space. It was the blonde boy- Pandora’s twin Evan, and the boy with black hair with green streaks who you had to remember was named Barty. Evan stayed standing while Barty slinked to a cushion on the floor in front of you three girls.
“What are you three talking about?” Barty asked, smiling broadly. He had a nice smile, laced with boyish mischief and charm. It made him look less intimidating for sure.
“Boys,” Pandora said in a sing-song tone.
“Oooh,” Barty said at the same time that Evan let out a slight “Gross” and walked away to where Lily and Regulus were talking at the table.
Pandora giggled at her twin’s reaction. “We weren’t talking about my love life.” She explained, still a soft chuckle on her words.
“Then who’s?” Barty asked, looking straight at you.
“No one’s,” you said quickly, “there is no love life.” you thought that the topic was dropped but apparently not.
Both Pandora and Dorcas laughed at your quick outburst. You laughed along with them, it was a bit quick, probably sounded so girlish.
Barty let out a soft chuckle of his own. “No love life, huh?” he smiled at you again. His smile was actually… very nice. He was more handsome the more you looked at him. But he was eyeing you like he was trying to figure something out, figure you out.
“Leaver here be, Bartemius.” Dorcas said from beside you, using what you assumed was his real name.
He just threw his hands up in defense and said “I’m not doing anything.”
She squinted her brown eyes at him, letting out a suspicious “Mmmhm…”
He rolled his eyes in response.
The four of you then broke into conversation about other topics, and you were grateful to leave the topic of love lives behind. You all talked about your music tastes which, to your surprise, all three of them shared with you. You talked about your favorite artists, songs, and what upcoming concerts you were excited for or bummed that you had to miss out on.
This led to Pandora starting a story about a concert she had gone to but then about halfway through remembered something she needed to tell James, so she cut her story short by skipping off into the kitchen to find him. You three laughed at her short attention span, but continued on.
The three of you continued talking about some movies then, until Dorcas claimed that she needed a refill of her drink and made her way to the kitchen as well, leaving just you and Barty.
Barty took Pandora’s place on the couch as you two continued talking. Barty was actually a very nice person. You were a little skeptical because of his more… alternative look, but you found that he was really great to talk to, hardly any lulls in the conversation, he knew exactly what questions to ask or what to say to keep the conversation alive and well.
You two got onto the topic of growing up, he asked where you lived and what kind of school you went to. He listened intently and showed interest in what you had to say.
“What about you? Where did you grow up?” you turned his own question on him.
“London,” He replied, “But my father had a house in France as well, so I would try to spend as much time there as possible.”
“France?” you asked, shocked. You could only dream of having a second home, let alone a second home somewhere in France.
He smirked. “Yeah that’s kind of where me, the Blacks, and the Rosiers grew up.” He said.
“Wait, Sirius grew up in France too?” you asked, again shocked and interested in this new revelation. He replied with a nod. “Well, can you all still speak French?”
“Oui,” he replied. You giggled and continued talking to him about traveling and what it was like to grow up in a different country.
“Well where would you want to live?” He asked.
You smiled, feeling that warm feeling in the pit of your stomach again. “Well, I’m pretty content here.” you explained, eyes focusing on your fingers playing with your new ring that Dorcas gave you.
“Here?” He asked, sounding baffled. “As in here in this house… with those three?” he nodded to the kitchen where you followed the movement to see Remus, Sirius, and James Standing in the doorway, eyes all on you and Barty. They didn’t look too pleased, but didn’t know the cause.
You turned back to your conversation, smiled and nodded. “I like living here… with them.” you said.
Barty looked at you with what seemed to be realization washing over his face. He looked you over, then looked back to the boys over your shoulder, and back to you. You could tell that he caught on to your meaning. He had figured you out. He smirked and nodded, confirming that he did in fact catch on.
“Please don’t say anything.” you said, ready to plead with him. You shouldn’t have said anything in the first place, you weren’t going to tell Dorcas and Pandora, but here you were spilling your secret to a boy who had buttered you up with stimulating conversation for half an hour.
He made a motion of zipping his lips. You sighed in relief.
“You’re a lucky girl you know.” was all he said.
You furrowed your brows in confusion. “What do you mean?” you asked.
“You’re a very pretty girl. I’m sure they would have you happily.” he replied. You couldn’t stop the blush that creeped up your neck and now blotched your face.
“I-I don’t, uh.. I don’t know what you mean.” you stuttered out, shaking your head and trying to get him to drop it. Again, you had no idea who could hear your conversation.
“I just mean, I don’t exactly think that they would have been so quick to let you live here, rent free might I add, if they were not into you, beauty.” He said, giving you a pet name.
“T-they were just doing a good thing, helping me out” you said, unable to gain your composure between the conversation topic and the subtle flirtation that Barty was conveying with that little nickname.
He looked at you with raised brows. “And being pretty sure helps,” he finished with a wink.
“Helps with what,” you heard Sirius’s voice from your right side.
Startled, you quickly turned to him. “Oh- Uh, nothing!” you said a beat too fast. Sirius just stared at Barty, suspicion radiating off of him. This felt like a start to a nightmare. One you may or may not have experienced where your secret was revealed and everything went terribly wrong.
“I was just telling her about a date I had last week,” Barty said, holding Sirius’s eye contact with a smirk plastered on his face. “Isn’t that right Y/N, dear?”
“Oh, yeah!” you said, glad to have a good explanation that wouldn’t raise any alarms with Sirius.
“Anyways, I was just going to grab a drink,” Barty announced, giving you a knowing look. “Would you like anything?” he asked you. You shook your head. “Alright then,” He said, standing and clapping Sirius on the shoulder as he passed him.
Sirius took the opportunity to slide into the spot that Barty was previously occupying. “You alright?” he asked.
“Yeah, why?” you answered.
“You just seem a little jumpy, that’s all.” Sirius said softly, a trace of worry between his brows.
You took a deep breath and smiled. “Yeah I’m fine just, been talking a lot.” you laughed off the nerves, relaxing into the familiar and easy conversation with Sirius. That warm feeling creeping back in, and you allowed it.
“I know,” He said. “ I noticed you mingling quite a bit tonight, I’m proud. I know meeting all these new people at once could have been daunting, but you’ve done great all night.”
You smiled back at him, then rested your head on his shoulder, a normal act that you had done many times by now, but this time it felt so different. Warm and fuzzy, and all your senses wrapped in something distinctly Sirius.
You yawned and allowed yourself to shut your eyes for a moment. You were getting tired, all the socializing as well as cooking and decorating beforehand had taken its toll.
“You tired?” Sirius asked. You nodded, head still on his shoulder. “Good now I have an excuse to kick everyone out.”
You snapped your eyes open, Sirius making to stand up. You giggled and pulled on his arm, pulling him back down onto the couch. “No Siri! You can’t blame it on me!” you laughed.

Regulus Black, who was controlled by his fear. Regulus Black, who missed opportunity after opportunity to do something he wanted because he hadn't done it before, and he was too scared to try. Regulus Black who lay awake at night, regretting all the things he hadn't done, all the things he could have done but chose not to. All the things he wishes he had done.
Regulus Black who would listen to everyone else the day after a party talk about how epic it was, wishing he'd been there, knowing he could have been if he hadn't been so scared of showing up.
Regulus Black with barley any friends because he didn't dare make new ones. Regulus Black who was seen as cold and distant because he never spoke to anyone, or did anything.
Regulus Black, who had watched James since he was young, but never approached him. Regulus Black who never found out he could have had James, because he was always too afraid to try.
Regulus Black who stayed behind when his brother left because he was too scared of what would happen if his parents found them before they were out. Regulus Black who accepted the dark mark because he was scared of what would happen if he didn't.
Regulus Black who dared to be brave only once. Regulus Black who failed, but couldn't regret it, not really. Because at least, just this once, he'd tried.
Regulus Black who felt alive for the first time mere minutes before his passing. Regulus Black who died without ever living.

no because i think this is a meissuebut when i read james speaking my native language brokenly in a supposedly hot scene i shrivelled up and died
obviously no one expects anyone to spen ten hours ust researching but with how diverse our fandom is, you can literally find a desi person in 5 minutes and they'd help you
no one wants their culture and identity misrepresented.
a desi kid iscloser to being thrown out of the house than they are being hugged at the prospect of them being queer.
NOW FOR THE QUEER THING!!! it definitely depends on the timeline.
pre or during early british empire, through poetry, or atleast Pakistani poetry, we see alot of well-known male poets writing about male lovers and it was acceptable.
but afterwards, it became entirely taboo and frowned upon to the point where none of my family likes me because i have shoulder length hair. yes, it is usually that serious.
theres so much depth to our culture, as nuch as i love it im not blibd to its faults and i recognise them. they should be incorporated into literature and art with respect.
ALSO this does go for religious characterisation too. don't make your characters of a religion only to shit on it, or to have THEM shit on it, or for them to go sgainst its teachings
cultures, traditions, religions, and identities all deserve to be respected and valued with intense deliberation. never take on a challenge too mighty for your shoulders, either drop it or learn to carry the weight.
im so so so tired of seeing people use james latin identity as an accessory but NEVER doing the actual research to make him even slightly accurate to ANY latin american country.
STOP USING OUR CULTURE AS A FUCKING COSTUME IN YOUR FICS. IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY LATINX FRIENDS TO HELP YOU, THERE ARE ENDLESS RESOURCES OUTSIDE OF GOOGLE TRANSLATE FOR YOU TO WRITE HIM RIGHT

Training for the Ballet Potter?🩰
summary: James Potter x Reader, James takes a ballet class and crushes on the teacher (you)
cw: sexist remarks? it is kind of just gender stereotypes of ballet I guess, i didn't proof read this so just pretend it's good for me
word count: 2.6K
Tumblr media
James thought that he might actually quit. This was ridiculous in every sense of the word. It was humiliating and a cruel punishment for sure.
His quidditch coach had the brilliant idea of signing the whole team up for ballet classes. Ballet, as in, turns and tiptoes and tights. This was emasculating to him, so beneath his training and dedication to the sport he should be practicing.
His coach announced the classes on the last day of spring training. He stated that they were to attend every class until their season starts, no exceptions. He went on and on about how it would benefit the team to become more agile and graceful. But James didn’t understand the logic at all, he needed to be quick, strong, sturdy. Not exactly what ballerinas are known for.
His coach emphasized the fact that these lessons were mandatory by stating that those who fail to attend would be cut from the team. He was not joking. A few of his teammates tried to protest, but his coach made the ultimatum. He said that if they wanted to be professionals and play on this prestigious team, they would learn grace and elegance in their training.
James loved and valued his position on the team, so he wasn't so fast to say no to these lessons. He was also trying to become captain of the team this year, and pretending to be excited and grateful for these lessons seemed like a way to earn him some brownie points.
So he pretended to the best of his abilities, he got the team together to encourage or change their attitudes, saying that it would be a great experience for the summer and that it was only three months of these lessons. Well, two lessons every week for three months, but that still wasn’t too bad.
When the coach overheard some of the team still complaining about ballet, he made them run and condition until half of them were throwing up. He was not here to play about these lessons.
“Got your leotard?” Sirius teased James from the couch. He had his head resting in Remus’s lap.
James had lived with his two best friends since the end of school and he couldn’t be happier. Well, he could do with a little less of the making out and the groping he would catch every now and then, but he couldn’t blame them both, they were happy and in love. He just… didn’t need to see it all the time. And now, he didn’t need to be teased to add insult to injury.
“No.” James replied, rolling his eyes. He grabbed his red workout bag with his team’s logo from the opposite couch that his friends were sitting on and slung it over his shoulder.
“I think it’ll be good for you, Prongs,” Remus chimed in, “You could learn a thing or two about grace.”
James again rolled his eyes. He wasn’t in the mood, he was sore from yesterday’s practice, and was now about to prance around like an idiot for an hour.
“I just need to get through this,” James said. “I want to look good when my coach is choosing captains this season.”
“Anything for that position, eh, Prongsie?” Sirius chuckled from Remus’s lap. “Look on the bright side though, you’ll be surrounded by fit girls in tight clothes and tiny skirts.”
Remus smacked the top of his head for the comment, earning an ‘ouch’ and small apology. Remus rolled his eyes this time, annoyed by his lover’s crude statement.
James supposed that there was that to look forward to, he would never say it out loud like Sirius, but he was… intrigued by the idea. His male teammates were all put into the Monday/Wednesday classes with a strict teacher apparently. He was selected for the Tuesday/Thursday classes, which he found out were much smaller and taught by a new, younger teacher. A few of his teammates made sure to let him know how lucky he in fact was, the Monday/Wednesday teacher sounded like a hard-ass and a mean old witch.
Another bright side of the classes was that he would be with Marlene, one of his best friends on the team. If he had to endure this torture, he was glad to do it with her at least. It was actually Marlene who was picking him up so they could go to the lesson together. She should be here in about… now.
James bid farewell to his friends and raced out the door before any of the last minute teasing could make it to his ears, and rushed out to where Marlene was waiting in her car for him.
“Hey,” he greeted her, sliding into the passenger seat of her car which felt much too tiny for him to squeeze into.
“Ready for the ballet Potter?” she giggled, wiggling her brows as she put the car in drive. James found it quite humorous, the two of them, going to their first ballet lesson. The two of them who look like they should keep far away from anything to do with ballet. James, who was a 6’1 burly man with all the elegance of a rhino and knocked into possibly every piece of furniture he owned on a daily basis, and Marlene, with chipped black nails and a self-cut mullet who looks like she would eat the posh little ballerinas for lunch.
Sooner than he would have liked, they reached the dance studio. Marlene parked and they both just sat there for a moment breathing in deep. He turned to her and saw the look that he himself was wearing. One of regret and annoyance.
“Come on Marls, it's an hour and then we’re done.’’ James reminded her.
She groaned but opened her door and slipped out.
They both made their way to the door of the building. He opened it and allowed Marlene to walk through first, pretending that it was just a courteous, gentlemanly thing to do, but in all reality, he was just holding onto any time he could have left not doing ballet.
He stepped into the building and into a crowded area with chairs and fake plants, a waiting room for the parents coming to pick up their little ballerinas from lessons. The waiting room was littered with moms scrolling on their phones and looking at their watches. Great.
James and Marlene had to wait for the teacher to come get them and escort them into the correct studio. Marlene plopped herself in a chair and motioned for James to do the same, but he just stood and lingered around the area.
James heard a door open and the chatter and giggles of many children. He heard many “Thank you miss Y/N”s and “Bye miss Y/N”s followed by a flood of little girls all dressed in colorful leotards and skirts filling the waiting room. The children all ran up to their respective mothers and told them about their lesson and how nice their new teacher was and that they all got stickers and how fun everything was. Some of the little girls eyed James and Marlene up and down, Marlene just stared back until the girls got scared and ran over to their adult.
As soon as the chaos broke into the little waiting room, it left. The last little girl put on her pink sparkly light up shoes and bounded out the door with her parent. This reassured everything that James had already felt; that this was useless, meant for little girls. Definitely not quidditch players, definitely not James.
He heard the door open again and turned to see a small woman, about his age, walk out with a clipboard. Her hair was pulled up into a bun. She was clad in a pink leotard and matching pink skirt, light pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. She was pretty, not in a typical perfect ballerina way, but in an entirely different way. James was definitely not expecting someone like her to be in a studio like this, let alone to be teaching.
Her eyes snapped up from what she was reading on her clipboard and instantly lit up.
“Oh hello!” she squeaked. “Are you two here for the 4:00 class?”
“Uh, yeah.” James replied.
“Perfect! You’re right on time. I’m Y/N, by the way, I’ll be your instructor. You can follow me right in here to studio B.” she said, motioning them to follow her down the hall to the studio. Marlene stood and the both followed. “And here we are,” She said, turning on the light switch, allowing for a better view of the studio.
It was a very small room with light hardwood floors, mirrors lining the back wall. There were mats stacked up in the corner and two parallel bars mounted on the two walls without mirrors.
“You two can go ahead and set your stuff on the wall with the mirrors and then we can get started with stretching.” she announced chipper.
“Aren’t we going to wait for the rest of the class to show up?” Marlene asked from beside James.
“Oh no, you two are the whole class.” She smiled. “You can think of it more like a private lesson, more one on one.”
Private ballet lessons… Sirius was going to have a field day. He looked over at Marlene who just shrugged and made her way to the mirror wall to set her stuff down. James followed.
“It’s just us?” James whisper yelled to Marlene, trying not to let the instructor hear.
“Is that a problem?” Marlene asked back. “She’s hot.”
James just huffed and pulled off his jacket, tossing it in his bag.
“Look Potter, think of it this way,” She tried to reason with him, “Now there’s less people to look like an idiot in front of. All of the embarrassing moves will stay just between us three.” She smiled and James nodded his head, feeling like maybe it was a blessing to be in such a small class. “But… I can’t promise I won't make fun of you or use it against you.” She joked.
“Alright, are you both ready?” Y/N asked sweetly. They both nodded and made their way to the center of the room where she was waiting for them. “Alright first things first, welcome to ballet! My name is Y/N, you don't have to call me Miss or anything like the little ones do, just Y/N is fine” She said, her eyes glowing.
Marlene was right, she was hot. But James wouldn’t be that forward about it, she was incredibly beautiful. If James could do with a touch of grace, she was bathed in it, dripping in it. She radiated confidence and elegance. James didn’t know what to do with his hands all of a sudden.
“I understand that your coach has signed you both up?” She asked. Marlene nodded in confirmation. “Ok, that is perfectly fine, we teach a lot of different athletes here at this studio. But in all honesty, I am a bit new to all of this,” She blushed, looking to the floor, “I mostly work with beginner classes and children so, bear with me.”
She looked back at them and smiled. “Now, usually we require ballet shoes, but I won't require them for you two, socks or barefoot will be just fine.” she explained. “It is also better if you could wear things that are a little bit tighter. You don’t have to wear leos, but I need to be able to see the lines of your bodies better, so leggings, shorts, tank tops, those are all great!”
She was so cheery. Not only was she elegant and grateful, but kind and bubbly. James felt this warmth within the pit of his stomach now.
“Lastly, I want you two to have fun. I know that this is very different for you but, I promise I will make it as fun and educational for you so that you benefit the most that you can from this experience.” She finished, eyes sparking again.
“Alright with all that being said, let’s start our warm up!” she said.
Y/N led them through a series of stretches, most just like the ones they did at quidditch practice, others that were uncomfortable and pulled on his tight muscles. She assured them that with time, those stretches would get easier.
After, she led them to the bars mounted on one of the walls. She taught them the different positions of ballet; first, second, third, etc.. She taught them plies and releve, coupe and passe, and other French words he didn’t understand and would need to be repeated to him most likely all summer.
“Good Marlene.” James heard Y/N critique from where she was situated behind him. For all the gripe that she gave, Marlene was actually pretty decent at all this.
All of a sudden James felt hands on his abdomen and back, straightening his back into the correct posture. He was startled but continued on.
“There you go,” Y/N chuckled. “And..” she began but cut herself off by setting her hands atop his broad shoulders, pushing down on them. “You gotta relax, your shoulders are too tense. We don’t want them up by our ears,” She said, demonstrating to him by pulling her own shoulders up. “We want an elongated line from our neck and down our spine.” She explained, relaxing her shoulders and looking perfect.
Next Y/N ran them through some basic turns and steps and they practiced by repeating them across the floor. James couldn’t believe this but, he was actually getting a pretty good workout. He was using muscles he didn’t even know he had, and he knew that if he dared mention that he was sore from ballet in front of Remus and Sirius, they would never let him live it down.
Time actually flew, and class was over before he knew.
“Great job today.” She said to them both, smiling as James caught her eye.
“I heard you give out stickers.” Marlene mentioned, mischief laced in her voice, making Y/N giggle. James loved the sound, decided that he wanted to do anything, everything in his power to hear that again. Hear it forever if he can.
She walked over to where her clipboard lay on the other side of the room, picked it up, then returned to where James and Marlene were now packing up. She peeled off a smiley face that said ‘awesome’ and placed it on Marlene’s shirt. Marlene smiled and started out the door.
Y/N peeled another off, a star that said ‘you did great’ and placed it on James’s shirt. She pressed it into the fabric, making sure it stuck. James felt the warmth of her fingers radiate through his shirt and into his skin.
He smiled at her and made his way after Marlene. He turned back to say “See you Thursday!”
She smiled back, waving goodbye to him and repeating that she would see them on Thursday.
Exiting the studio and climbing back into Marlene’s car, James couldn’t get rid of the goofy smile that etched itself into his face. Marlene looked at him and shook her head. “Don’t make it too obvious, Twinkletoes.” She mocked him with a new and reactive nickname.
“What are you talking about?” James asked, pulling his seatbelt on.
“Your little crush.” Marlene said plainly.
James wasn't going to deny it, so what if he had a little crush on the cute ballet teacher? She was gorgeous and so warm. He liked to see the passion in her eyes when she was explaining ballet to them.
He couldn’t believe it and he would probably never say it out loud but he was excited for his ballet lesson on Thursday.

marauders hc #4
lily evans.
she has it all. perfect grades, hair that catches the light just right, a smile that makes everyone feel warm and safe. she’s the dependable friend, the one you go to when you need advice or a shoulder to cry on. she’s the sunshine girl, with a prefect badge on her chest and the most popular boy at school hopelessly in love with her.
but no one asks how lily evans is doing. because why would they? she’s fine. she’s always fine.
except she’s not.
her home is a battlefield. petunia’s sharp words cut deeper than anyone realizes. she doesn’t even have to yell anymore—just the disappointed looks, the cold silences, the way she acts like lily doesn’t exist. like she never mattered. freak, unnatural, worthless.
the war creeps closer every day, and lily feels it like a noose tightening around her neck. her parents are muggles—targets. every owl, every headline feels like it could be the one that changes everything. but she doesn’t talk about it. she doesn’t cry. she can’t. everyone is counting on her to be strong.
so she bottles it all up. she smiles, she nods, she listens. but the weight inside her chest gets heavier and heavier, pressing down on her ribs until she can’t breathe.
so she starts cutting because she needs to feel something that isn’t this crushing emptiness. the sharp sting is quick, almost clean, and for a moment, it’s like she’s in control of the chaos. but then the guilt sets in. the shame. what kind of person does this to themselves? she’s disgusted, but she can’t stop.
then there’s the food. at first, it’s not deliberate. she skips a meal here and there because she’s “too busy.” but then she realizes how light it makes her feel, how empty. it’s like she’s disappearing from the inside out, and that feels like a kind of freedom.
every day, she tells herself she wants to die. not dramatically, not in the heat of the moment—just this quiet, persistent whisper at the back of her mind. what if you just… stopped? she thinks about it when she’s brushing her teeth, or walking to class, or lying in bed at night. what if you didn’t have to do this anymore?
sometimes, it’s vivid. she imagines the ways she could do it, running through the details in her mind. the astronomy tower maybe? but then the shame kicks in, this hot, suffocating wave that makes her stomach churn. you’re selfish enough already. don’t make it worse.
but other times, it’s just this hollow ache, this desperate longing for everything to stop. it’s not even about dying—it’s about escaping. she feels like she’s drowning in everyone else’s expectations, their problems, their pain, and she’s so tired of carrying it all. she just wants it to end.
and yet, she doesn’t do it. she calls herself a coward for it, berates herself for being too weak to follow through. you can do everything else perfectly, but you can’t even do this. it’s another thing to hate about herself, another way she feels like she’s failing.
but deep down, she knows why she doesn’t do it. she keeps going because she doesn’t know how to stop. because there’s a part of her that still hopes, even when she hates herself for it. because no matter how much she wants to disappear, there’s a part of her that’s terrified of being forgotten.
she lays in bed at night, staring at the ceiling, wondering if this is it. is this what life is supposed to be? when will it get better? when will i be free?
but the next morning, she gets up. she smiles. she listens to her friends. she carries their burdens and hides her own because someone has to, and who else is there?
lily evans: the girl who can do anything. except fall apart.

this!!
obviously pirate, find online or buy second hand, but oml if i have to see someone arguing against something that is literally canon?
people in the marauders fandom who haven't read canon get on my nerves. wdym you didn't know Dorcas was black in canon. wdym you didn't know Barty was top of his class. I obviously don't recommend buying the books (fuck jkr) but libraries and online pdfs exist for a reason

13yr old Sirius telling 13yr old James that his "sister was absolutely out of limits" about 12yr old pre-transition Regulus.
15yr old James telling a very angry 15yr old Sirius that, in his defense, he had said his sister was out of limits, not his brother.
