Complaints about Senna Series

Maybe more than anyone else, I’ve been hyping the Senna series up on here these past few months, partly out of genuine excitement, partly because of my small (big) pre-existing crush on Gabriel Leone (if you’ve watched Dom you get it).

But the trailer has left me so disappointed in what is to come.

It seems that rather than build Ayrton as the fascinating, believable, mixed man that he was in real life, the show has chosen to portray him as a saint of a figure, who can do no wrong, and had the whole world turned against him. Likely this is due to Senna’s ongoing meddling and frankly, disgustingly controlling family, who even thirty years after Ayrton’s passing, still have a tight grip over his life and media presence, but by doing so with this show, I think they’ve let down not only Ayrton, but everyone else too.

Lets start with the obvious- Alain.

Already the show has been insinuating that Alain is the evil driver, the ‘baddie’ that Ayrton’s character must defeat to win the championships. While obviously, the Senna Prost rivalry is famed for its intensity and hatred, and it’d be impossible to show Ayrton’s life without it, I believe the show has gone about it the wrong way. Ayrton was by no means innocent in this rivalry as they are portraying- in fact, with his abusive driving style, and bad attitude towards Prost off track, it could be argued he was the main insinuator.

I think it’s disrespectful to Alain, who now, can only speak well of Ayrton and the relationship they had, to portray him as ‘evil’ as it seems this show is going to do. The fact is they were both as bad as each other, but they also needed each other in order to better themselves. It breaks my heart to think now, thirty years on, Alain may watch this show and once again be put down and hated on when he clearly has expressed nothing but love, admiration and grief towards Ayrton.

I also think this show will likely be disrespectful to the memories of drivers such as Elio. Elio who’s not even been cast in this show, when he was Ayrton’s team mate for a whole year! Just because he didn’t win three championships, does that mean his memory, his life have any less meaning than Ayrton’s? Of course not. It is wrong just to forget him, especially when Ayrton behaved in such a bratty way towards him.

Finally I think this show has most importantly let Ayrton down. The whole reason I relate to him, and respect him, was because he was a flawed man. He was a man driven half insane by his own talent, by his own intensity, and by his own need to win. Himself and his controlling family pushed him so hard, put so many pressures on him, he found it impossible to connect with the people he needed most (like Alain) in fear that it would make him less of a driver. He struggled with self happiness, said so multiple times, clearly had difficulties in many other areas of life, and yet despite all of this, not only turned out to be a brilliant driver, but also a good man as well, who raised hundreds of thousands of children in Brasil. Ayrton is a story of no matter what, never giving up, and battling your own demons to make it where you want to be. And I personally don’t see any way so far in which this show portrays this message.

It is my hope that I am wrong about all this. Maybe this show will turn out to be a good memorial of a good man. But likely it is the ‘Drive to Survive-ification’ of a beautiful story turned bad for a quick buck.

(I censored the irl spider pic just in case, but they are based on the brazilian wandering spider! They put their arms up to look intimidating to possible predators, but I think it just makes them look like they're yelling YIPPEEE, so cute)

Some design notes:

so I'm from São Paulo aka the NYC of Brazil ig, and I have a fascination with how the city looks at night, so I thought of this darker color scheme with bright highlights for the spider suit! + the stripes on the wandering spider's legs reminded me of those caution/warning tapes, then boom everything came together! Since those spiders are known to be very agressive also 🤨

And speaking of this aggressiveness, Spidey Brasil got a brutal style of combat. They don't know their spider strength fr. Adding that wrecking ball weapon-thing to the equation, fighting with them must be one painful experience. Idk about other people but me and my friends used to call that wrecking ball-like toy "bate-bate" and it was my whole childhood 💪

Ironically enough, Miranha Armadeira is also known as the super-villain-damage- control spidey. They hate the mess those guys make around the city, so they fight aggressively WHILE avoiding total destruction??? Yeah

Special spidey power would probably be invisibility or camouflage of some sorts, like Miles'. I thought of making them have venom too but idk, maybe I'll keep things simpler for now and only make them have the invisibility + being crazy strong 👍

Evandro Teixeira Dies; He Exposed Latin American Dictatorships Through His Photography

Renowned photojournalist known for capturing Brazil's military coup had leukemia

"Here, in truth, is a style. Here we see sensitivity. It is Evandro Teixeira present here. More than his viewfinder, it is his vision," wrote Otto Lara Resende about his newsroom colleague at Jornal do Brasil.

Brazilian photojournalism lost one of its greatest figures, the "bright-eyed" man from Bahia, as described by the Minas Gerais writer.

Evandro Teixeira, born in the small town of Irajuba, Bahia, in 1935, and known for his coverage of Brazil's military dictatorship, died Monday afternoon at the age of 88.

1st- Original Beetlejuice. Afaik, knowed like Keatenjuice ((I think)) too, or just the 1988 movie Beetlejuice, disgusting death man.

2nd- Cartoon Beetlejuice, Toonjuice, from the original cartoon! Started at 1989 and ended at 1991.

3rd- Universal vertion, a Beetlejuice from different universal's shows, like "Beetlejuice's rockin' graveyard" and other ones, U can search It on yt, somes are funny to watch, sometimes, I like this one in personal.

4th. Demo's Beetlejuice, the one from the demo of the musical and, yes, I count him as a different version because, HOLY, the demos has its own personality, plz search, some songs are good.

Chapter 1 : Leaving Brazil

No One’s P.O.V

“Avó I don't understand; I know there have been getting along recently between us, but Rússia? Папа? Papai?”

Daisy was grabbing a bowl from the cabinet from the kitchen and serving herself muesli. “Margarita , I know your Papai isn't a great guy, but he is young and I am getting too old to take care of you.” Daisy’s grandma said with a sad sigh. “Avó this is a completely different place! My entire life is here in Brasile , everything that I have ever known is here!. I will be a stranger to Papai and I will be an outcast in Rússia” she said to her Avó with anger. “Is it because I haven’t been home and been in the city more than here? I know I haven’t been here, but my band has the biggest break of our lives Avó, if the band breaks up because I have moved away, our hard work will be for nothing!” Avó grabbed her cane from where she was sitting and stood up. From her chair and walk towards her Neta. Daisy tears were spilling from her dark chocolate eyes. Her grandma wiped her tears from Daisy’s cheek. “I know you work so hard for your dreams Florzinha, but you need to understand that I won’t be there for you always, and I know my time will be up soon, and I just want what is best for you, and what is best for you is to be in Rússia with your papai.” Her Avó’s hand was still on her cheek and she held Avó's hand. Still with tears. “Your papai misses you so much.” Daisy took Avó's hand and put it down and she said, “I can’t leave you, I promise Mamã, that I’ll take care of you,” Avó's tears slip down, she can no longer contain her tears. Avó said “And I promised your Mamã, that I will take care of you.” She tried to calm her granddaughter down. “Know no more crying for the both of us.I already bought your plane ticket, and you need to start packing for tomorrow.”

Daisy’s P.O.V

The following day was just a jumble of feelings. Before Daisy traveled to the airport. She could feel her sadness rising up. “You're still fluent in Russian right?" Said Tia Rosita“Yeah of course. It's hard to not be fluent in Russian when your father is from Russia." Daisy snapped back while leaning back in the old airport chair. "Margarita don’t be like that, I know you're upset with this and all, but please don't get attached to your Tia Rosita . “Sorry." Daisy halfheartedly mumbled while playing with the sleeves of her jacket. "Hm it looks like they're starting to board.” Said Tia Rosita

“Grab your suitcase c'mon" As Daisy was grabbing her suitcase she accidentally stepped on a man's foot behind her. She turned around to see a tall grown man with blonde styled hair and eyeliner. "Oh shit I'm sorry for stepping on your foot." The man stared at her with immense eye contact and smiled even brighter. "Oh no worries! Enjoy your flight!" She awkwardly smiled and walked with her suitcase

Meanwhile later on her trip “ No look I'm telling you when I stepped on his foot he literally just stared into my soul, like a " Daisy said while eating a complimentary bag of peanuts the flight staff gave her . “Yes yes, I believe you. Now but please be quiet, we still have 19 hours left on this plane, and I want to spend those hours asleep."said Tia Rosita, leaning her head into the neck pillow, next to the window. Daisy plugged in her headphones into the phone to listen to music. “I'm sorry for staring into your soul, I can assure you that those were not my intentions! But I thank you for the compliment!" Daisy froze and turned her head to see that the man was sitting right behind her. She choked up, not knowing what to say and just gave him a quick smile before sinking into her seat, deeply embarrassed. 'Just my luck. Shit I need to start paying attention to my surroundings more often.' Daisy thought as she played her music and munched on her peanuts.

“Margarita! Acordar, we're about to land!" Tia Rosita shook her awake, as Daisy sat up straighter and tightened her seatbelt. “Remember that weird guy I was talking about earlier? Well he's sitting behind us and heard everything I said." Tia gasped as she slowly peered over the seat to look at this mysterious guy Margarita had been talking about. "Seriously, that's him? He looks pretty normal to me, although it's pretty funny he heard you. Karma é um Puta." Tia said giggling close to her ear. Daisy just rolled her eyes and prepared for landing. The airport was packed with families and people trying to find their flight. “Ok Margarita so the plan is we take a taxi over to Do pai, I drop you off and make sure you are Com este cabrón and then I go back home ." Rosita told her as they both walked towards the airport exit. “Tia, how come you don’t like papai?” Daisy said as she stared at the woman as cars passed . Tia sighs and looks at her niece, “look, the reason I don’t like you dad is, the things he did to your Mamã was unforgivable.”Daisy turns her head and looks at her Tia and asks “What he did to her?” Rosita put out of her purse her box of cigarettes and took one out of the box and lit one, then she puffed the smoke out. “He cheated on my sister, with another woman, that’s what he did to her” said it with anguish.

Alright c'mon Margarita the taxi's here, grab that suitcase and I'll grab the other." Tia said while grabbing one of the suitcases. Daisy looked behind her and saw a familiar head of blonde hair, so she took her bag and quickly got in the car. They both stepped inside the car as the driver started to drive off. "The address is Rublevo-Uspenskoye Shosse, 17, Gorki-2, Moscow Oblast, Russia, 143033" Tia Rosita said as Daisy looked out the moving window. Her Tia patting Daisy’s back. The car ride was quiet, but once the car pulled into a small white apartment in the richest neighborhood , both Tia Rosita and Daisy were shocked. "Um sir, is this the correct address?" asked the driver. "da." He responded, curtly. "Okay Margarita grab the bags so I can talk to papai." Tia left the car and headed to the front door, leaving the girl to grab both of their bags.

Before leaving the car Daisy muttered a quick thanks in Russian for the driver, as she headed to the front with her bags. As Daisy was walking to the door she could hear a little bit of the conversion Sam and her dad were having. “Look Ivan, she is your responsibility now, my mother is old and she no longer takes care of her.Margarita is a good girl and she won’t cause any problems and she has good manners, she is a respectable young lady as you always wanted. Daisy walked up the steps with the suitcases to see Tia Rosita

Her papai was a man with Black hair and was a bit wavy like her’s . He stroked his black mustache, while staring at Daisy . “Мой дорогой, welcome home. I will take your bags . I suspect you want to say goodbye to your Тетя?" He asked with a deep voice. "Uhm yes thank you." Daisy said, trying not to grimace at the vibes he was giving off. He took her t bags, and walked away. "Listen Margarita , if anything bad ever happens to you please don't be afraid to call me. We both know that dad isn't the best guy, so if he ever does anything to you, call me." Daisy hugged her sister as they both said their goodbyes. "I love you Tia." "I love you too Margarita ." Rosita pulled away and walked back to the taxi, leaving Daisy alone in front of the spacious apartment .

As she walked inside the apartment there was a hallway that led to the living room. The hallway had a white walls and a mirror and a table with a vase with white roses. She walked to the living room, it had white walls and a grand crystal chandelier in the ceiling. The room had a white choch and white curtains, with curbed full with books and a grand piano. Daisy looked at the whole room and was amazed by the room, it was so different from her home back in Brazil, her house was full of colors that missed match with everything. The whole apartment was white with no stains of color. "I have some rules to follow since you now live here." Daisy’s papai said as he sipped his tea. Daisy sat down. "When you address me it will always be father or sir. You will always show respect to me. Absolutely no boys will enter this door without my permission. Also no dye hair is allowed, Do you play any instruments?" The man asked, staring intently at his daughter. "Yes I-" Her father stopped her. "Address me as father or sir." He responded coldly. "Oh sorry sir. But yes father, me and my friends used to have a band, and we actually won a lot of contests." Her father laughed a cruel laugh and looked upon her face. "Oh my dear, that's not real music. But what instruments can you play?" The man asked, holding his tea.

“Well, father. I can play the guitar, piano, and violin." Daisy said, looking down at her teacup. "Hmm, violin... yes, I can work with that. Do you play well?" "Yes, sir, I haven't played in a while. But when I last played, I could play some Mozart pieces." The father smiled and nodded his head. "Good, good. We have a grand piano in the living room. I will find you a great teacher immediately, and you will start playing as soon as possible." Daisy nodded her head as she drank the rest of the tea. “Well, it’s late, and I think you must be exhausted from your trip here,” her father said, leaving his team on a small coffee table on the side of his chair and standing up. “Yes, I am exhausted. We should go to bed.” She said. He nodded, and he guided her to her room. They walked upstairs, and her father guided her to a small hallway with doors. “Your room is in the west hallway, and mine is in the north hallway. That’s your door. “ said her father. He left his bedroom, and she walked through her bedroom. She opened her door, her bedroom was plain and white it didn’t have any color or any posters. Daisy was disappointed with her room, though she thought she could decorate it and paint the walls later. For now, she was tired from her trip.

Music Tag Game \o/

I was tagged by the ever wonderful @kaus-quietis to show you (and consequently talk about) my questionable musical taste :D

Thank you so much for the tag, dear!! Music is so important to me, it makes me sparkle with joy when someone wants me to talk about it!

Originally, I wanted to pursue a musical career, but it was strictly forbidden by my family. Only now I'm starting to get into art, but music has always been a secret passion for me "^^

So without further ado, first one is the music we have in common, second one is mine:

Why did I underline a few in Kaus'?

Siouxsie and the Banshees and DIO are two artists that I've heard of and want to check out more of their music. Siouxsie, I haven't heard, but given the fact I like The Cure, I think I'm gonna like it. DIO, I've heard a couple of songs, mostly from my Guitar Hero days, and I do like it. Gotta check more music.

Arctic Monkeys, I think I have a couple of their songs on my playlist. I don't know MUCH about them, but the songs I have, I enjoy very much!

Rachmaninoff, I listen to whenever I'm on a piano listening mood. Given that Matt Bellamy from Muse is very much inspired by him, I listened to a lot of Rachmaninoff when I was in high school - but I don't really have one specific song I like to listen to. I'm more of a Tchaikovsky girl, given that I do adore all his ballets too xD

A little bit more about mine

My musical preference is everywhere, but there are two important moods: beautiful idyllic romantic Studio Ghibli style and let's set the whole fucking world on fire style. Also, there's the good vibes fun type of music.

Regarding favourite bands: Muse and U2 are at the very top of my list, since I was a kid. I love their sound, their feeling, experimentation, lyrics, visuals... Everything. I borrow a lot from them when writing and playing.

Also, I absolutely adore Matt Bellamy.

Cazuza and Skank, if you never heard about them, they are Brazilian musicians with GREAT songs. From Skank, I recommend Resposta, Garota Nacional and Vou Deixar as starters. From Cazuza, the poet of Brazil, I recommend Ideologia, O Tempo Não Para and Brasil. Get the translation of the lyrics - you're gonna cry with O Tempo Não Para. I guarantee it.

On OSTs: I listem to them a lot. When I was a rebellious little piano player, I found in OSTs the common ground with my family who wanted me to play classical music while I wanted to play rock n' roll. I have a deep love for it now - and I gotta say, Cyberpunk 2077 has one of THE BEST OSTs I've ever heard in my life. So many songs from it on my playlist :')

I'm also using it and Darksynth and Industrial Metal while I'm writing my Cyberpunk-style book, it's more than amazing.

Johnny Silverhand is ALSO amazing, I love that unlovable man, he definitely inspired my whole book and another personal story I have which is literally a woman who talks with ghosts and her guardian angel who is a recently deceased rockstar :)

Well, regarding piano: like I said, I'm more of a Tchaikovsky person, love most of his work. I also like Liszt, Debussy, Mozart, Vivaldi and such; but I also love searching for piano covers of modern songs you think are never going to turn out good - but then lo and behold, they do.

That's 'cause I like playing music by ear on the piano. My mom says what she likes about it is that she never imagines the songs I choose could sound good on the piano, but I make it obvious that the melody of the song itself is beautiful. I don't think it's a "me" thing, I think we often get distracted by everything else in the song, we tend to ignore that ultimately what we fall in love with is the beautiful melodies behind it.

Overall, I like controversial people who make music, art and lyrics that make people think. I like a more sort of in-your-face kind of thing, that actually says things and fights what's seen as conventional/conservative society. I do think art is a way to fight the system and being counter-politically-correct is an inherent part of it (with its limits too, I have to add).

yeah, people being upset that rb and mercedes have a first and second driver are understandable, especially if they support the second driver, but as we've seen that's how you win. back in the day it was kinda forbidden to have an "official" first and second driver. in the early 2000s ferrari was criticized by people and even got warnings from the fia for clearly favoring schumacher over barrichello over and over again, but as we've seen, by doing that ferrari went and won 5 championships one after the other and schumacher made history by becoming the first driver to ever get that many wins and that many champioship titles. also during the years of alonso and massa as teammates, team orders were forbidden, so ferrari (and other teams too of course) sometimes had to use weird phrasing to give team orders to the drivers without being too obvious. one example is the infamous "fernando in faster than you" [for context this happened during the 2010 german grand prix: alonso was starting in p2 and massa in p3. at the start seb closed alonso against the wall, so massa overtook them and secured p1, with then alonso in p2. the race was going well for massa so people expected him to win, also bc he hadn't won a race since brasil 2008 and then in 2009 he had a terrible accident in hungary. the problem was that for ferrari and the wdc the one fighting for the title wasn't massa, it was alonso. alonso was stuck behind massa trying to overtake him but couldn't, also bc the drs didn't exist yet in 2010. at one point alonso started complaining on the radio that he was faster than felipe and massa's race engineer told him to get more pace. then after some more laps felipe gets told "fernando is faster than you", so he slows down and let alonso pass him]. it was clear as day that that was a team order but ferrari denied it but yeah... pretty clear 💀

also idk what was up with binotto, i think he just wanted a team he could trust, reason why he sent a lot of engineers and mechanics away (some of the people in ferrari af corse, the wec team, were first part of the f1 team and then got sent away) and kept or brought in the ones he trusted. i personally think it's not like he didn't like charles, but he didn't like being told he was wrong and sometimes charles subtly did that. also after the hungary blunter, sky italy commentators and interviewers had a small talk with binotto and all of them were like "the strategy was clearly wrong, the hard tyres weren't right" and binotto kept saying the hard tyres were right and it was the car that just didn't have pace. carlo vanzini (italy's main f1 commentator) pointed out that another team had tried the hard compound (alpine i think) and the data showed that with that weather and temperatures those tyres weren't right AT ALL and that ferrari actually had pace. binotto kept defending the strategy and vanzini once again pushed that it was clear that that wasn't the case and that charles clearly said he was good on medium tyres but they made him pit and changed them to hard, which didn't make sense bc they kinda took another win from him. after that binotto basically left clearly upset and he didn't show up to any of sky italy's interviews 💀

so yeah, he seems like a difficult man to read, but whatever. what is done is done i guess.

on oversteery and understeery cars: yeah, oversteer kinda makes the car faster if you like it, max clearly prefers oversteer and so did most of the champions in f1. it still makes the car a bit unbalanced, but if you're fast and clean you can pull off amazing races. in this case it's clear that when charles has a car that fits his driving style he's basically unstoppable: bahrain was his at the end, even if verstappen didn't have that dnf, in that race charles had more than him. verstappen tried to pull the same trick THREE TIMES at the same corner and charles acted smartely all three times (he himself said in pist race interviews that he didn't think max would try the same thing in the same place that many times after seeing it didn't work the first time). jeddah was an almost win for charles and yeah almost wins don't count on the history books, but he was fucked over by the safety car. australia. do i have to say anything? yeah, no. imola was unfortunate. a lat pit stop made charles fall behind perez and while trying to overtake him he spun at the variante alta and that was it, shit happens. miami was clearly not ferrari's track bc the car lacked a lot of pace, charles got pole only bc verstappen made a mistake in his lap. barcelona could have been a perfect weekend, charles was going for another grand chelem, but yeah... monaco, i won't talk about monaco bc it only hurts, but his unfinished pole lap. he was already on pole and he was getting already 6 tenths faster than his pole lap (i'll never forgive perez for what he did, sorry not sorry).

and lastly, idk where the story of the drivers making their own strategy in canada came from, bc it's not really true... adami told carlos to pit and he said he wanted to stay out, but he was later pitted anyways. xavi told charles to box, charles said he wanted to stay out, then xavi told him to do "opposite of norris" and bc norris pitted charles stayed out. but tbh the drivers shouldn't have to make the calls themselves, bc they don't have the tools to see the whole picture of the race and anyways it's not their job. that's the team's job and what strategists are for. and tbh the whole narrative of "carlos is more assertive/charles is whiny" is also pushed bc of the way the live broadcast pick and choose what team radios to show and something about it doesn't sit right with me...

The 1-2 driver hierarchy is kinda cruel we can’t say no to that and sometimes it sucks seeing good drivers having to hold back performance or being forced to give up good chances in favor of their teammates and for the good of the team. I think valtteri in the recent years was a big example of that, even checo (sometimes and more in term of races rather than championships) right now but yeah sometimes it’s the only way to win, or if the team is in a league of their own, it’s the only way to break records in terms of at least wdc and wcc. And honestly, i feel like the phrasings such as “x is faster than you” or “x is gaining on you” are still pretty common for subtle team orders although we do see team orders them being blatantly given out now, and i feel like sometimes they’re still disguised due to the backlash teams get for openly favoring one of their drivers (even when it’s the logical choice because at the end, each person analyzes the situation, even race stats, subjectively and naturally each person wants team orders to benefit the driver they support).

As for Binotto, I truly feel like he was wasted a chance to lead a quite significant comeback in f1, because Ferrari winning after so long would’ve been such a big deal for this sport. Personally, i really hated his approach and how he responded to rightful criticism so i’m not surprised with his response to the remarks from sky italia. After some bad races, i would listen to his interviews and just think to myself that he can’t actually think they did they right thing (as he always repeated) because in my head i’m thinking “wow, i’m a new fan and i still can tell you fucked up” plus he had the entirety of f1 press telling him there’s something wrong and he still wanted to put up an image that he still was convinced in the team’s decisions. He literally had his rival teams’ team principals defending his drivers and even Horner defending Charles after i think silverstone or hungary and he still said “we believe we did the right thing”. Like no?! You didn’t. And sometimes it’s better to own up to a mistake than to act like you’re an idiot who can’t see it.

I remember hungary so well, because really they didn’t need any sets of data (even if they had one) to know hards weren’t gonna work, just logic. Literally my sister who watches a race once in a blue moon was asking me why did they put him on hards and i sat there like 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bahrain last year was such a good race tho and it showed racing intelligence from charles imo. And even in jeddah, that showed despite max winning but I think it was such an enjoyable battle to watch. Oversteery car obv seem tricky to drive but i feel like a fast driver who knows the limits and just how far he can push them can totally be comfortable and competitive in an oversteery (and obviously fast😂) car. I think as long as the driver is comfortable in the car he’s in and confident in it and at harmony with how it drives, he can pull amazing results out of it.

imo that showed in miami this year because to me, charles had so much trouble that weekend because he just seemed like he wasn’t comfortable or confident in the car, almost like he didn’t trust it or trust that he has control of it and confidence is such a key element in racing and driving in general.

As for canada, that’s what i meant (like you said), i just worded it falsely. The strategy was obviously the team’s doing but at some point the drivers had to make their proper calls too. Plus at the beginning of the safety car, xavi told charles to box and after that charles’ radio was practically gibberish but then xavi told him to do opposite of what norris was doing so i think maybe charles asked for that or at least said he doesn’t wanna pit under sc. but yes, it’s still bad that the drivers are having to point out things to the people who supposedly have the data and telemetry and everything.

But tbh, in canada’s case, I don’t care whose decision it was, all i care about was that it was a good Sunday. Makes me wonder what could’ve been if quali had went well for charles🥲 and it’s also kinda sad that we went from wanting to win the championships to celebrating p4 and p5 but oh well I guess…
