Magic the Gathering: Type 3
Based on feedback from my fellow Magic players, I wanted to take a stab at seeing what a format with only Magic IP could look like. I'll break down: Name, Legality, and Deck Construction (with reasoning for each).
Name
The "Type 3" name is both an explanation of legality and a play-on-words. Since there will only be 3 Magic IP sets released per year, the "Type 3" moniker is an easy way to remember that this variant will only include Foundations (or whichever core archetypal Magic product is released) and those 3 yearly sets. Additionally, the format we know today as "Standard" was once-upon-a-time called "Type 2" (Vintage was "Type 1"), so the name works as a fun callback.
Calling it "Type 3" is also a way to set this format apart from Wizard-sanctioned formats, which all have single-word names (e.g. "Standard", "Modern", "Pioneer", etc.). I want to make it abundantly clear that this is not sponsored by Wizards of the Coast (Wizards), this is a fan-made format to encourage the use of and celebrate the Magic IP.
Legality
First off, Foundations will be legal for as long as Foundations is legal in the Standard format (which is currently until "at least 2029"). The sets released in a calendar year will be legal for only that calendar year. Rotation will be yearly, starting with the release of the first Magic-property set of that year. So,
For 2024, the following sets are legal: Foundations, Murders at Karlov Manor, Outlaws of Thunder Junction, Bloomburrow, and Duskmourn: House of Horror
For 2025, the following sets will be legal: Foundations, Aetherdrift, Tarkir Dragonstorm, and Edge of Eternities
For 2026, the following sets will be legal: Foundations, Wrestling (Return to Lorwyn), Yachting (Return to Arcavios (Strixhaven)), and Ziplining (an event set)
The purpose of the continual yearly rotation is partly to encourage players to purchase more Magic booster products, so as to let Wizards know that there is a market for the Magic IP. Part of the inclusion of Universes Beyond in Standard is due to players spending more money on Universes Beyond products than traditional Premier sets.
The other part of yearly rotation is to promote diversity of decks within the format. If Wizards prints a format-defining card, that card would only be legal for the calendar year it was printed. The limited card-pool will also encourage the use and play of cards that would otherwise be forgotten about in the Standard format.
Deck Construction
In terms of deck-building, a deck will be at minimum 60 cards with a 15 card Sideboard. There will be a Rarity-Limit for each card, with a limit of 1 per copy of any Mythic Rare, 2 per Rare, 3 per Uncommon, and 4 per Common (with any number of Basic Lands). The current rarity of any card will be determined by the most recently printed Type 3 Legal printing (e.g. if Wizards releases a set with an Uncommon "Giant Growth", then "Giant Growth" would be capped at 3x per deck instead of the current 4x).
This should hopefully keep the average prices of decks down, as powerful Mythics and Rares would be limited. In addition, this should also increase deck diversity, as format-defining cards would be harder to come across in a match. The added variance to decks would benefit newer players, encouraging them to participate in tournaments. This also simulates the Arena economy, where Mythic Rare and Rare Wildcards are much harder to come by than Common and Uncommon Wildcards, thereby easing the transition for newer Arena players to Paper Magic (and encouraging those new players to purchase packs at their local game stores).
Conclusion
In summary, Type 3 will provide players looking for a format showcasing only Magic IP a chance to flex their deckbuilding skills while also working as an easy entry-point for newer players. By having a limited card pool, deck-construction limitations based on card rarity, and a catchy name, Type 3 should be a fun format whose prominence will let Wizards know that there is indeed a market for Magic IP.
If you want a format featuring only Magic IP, Type 3 may be your best bet. The best way to help this format is to: play it, brew decks for it, share it with your friends, and talk about it online.

catching up on the last few episodes, i just realized something in frieren when Fern was fighting Ehre.
in the beginning? when both Heiter and Frieren tell Fern that, if she wants to be considered a full fledged mage, she needs to be able to shoot through a boulder on the other side of he canyon?
that isn't the norm for mages, at all. that was because both of them are insane.

Many people see Gale’s relationship with Mystra as that of a man and a woman. Gale is a man trying to “cross the boundaries” of the woman he fancies. But that interpretation is misguided and ignores what the relationship truly is, that of a mortal and a god.
I don’t feel like you need to know about dnd lore or Mystra herself to recognize the insane power imbalance that creates. An eons old entity in charge of all magic and a young wizard man are not on equal footing. Gale himself is even kind of aware of this, as he wanted and tried desperately to be enough for Mystra so she might deign to make him an equal.
Criticize his hubris all you want. It’s his fatal flaw and huge part of his character arc. But, Shadowheart is right there being abused by her goddess and everyone can see that. I mean, fuck, all of the origins are being abused by powerful people, but Gale’s not?
It just baffles me that at a time when our culture is harshly examining age gaps and power imbalances in romantic relationships more people aren’t seeing Mystra for the walking red flag that she is.

(minor and brief spoilers of the protagonist if you haven’t started the game at all but plan to)
[very self-insert about wuthering waves. kinda combined with genshin, of course (its my main bitch)]
so i have thoughts about wuthering waves…
self aware thoughts…
——————————————————————————
i like the game so far!
at this time, ive been judging the controls, story, characters, and combat of wuwa and compare it genshin
there are things i like, and things i feel meh about (it hasnt been out for even a week yet so im cool with it for now)
however, i have been more raised eyebrow towards the characters and controls of the game. since they are the key things that make me stay besides a cool story
ive mainly noticed there are some quality of life features they miss compared to genshin. but also some that they have that genshin doesnt
i chant praises for the features and gameplay they have genshin doesnt. but get pretty frustrated about what they dont have
i always try to reason that its basically an infant at the moment, but gamer rage gets the best of me frequently
so (like with genshin sometimes), i roar my frustrations at my screen
“ugh, genshin has this! why dont you?”
“oh my god, you are so slow.”
“yeah, yeah, ive seen this all before. when do things get interesting?”
sighing, huffing, and palming my face in irritation
and they hear this, and are conflicted
but similarly to traveler in the beginning, i think rover would be the only one to be self aware at this point. the others still have to gain it
so besides their memory lost, theyre also dealing with an unknown and higher being that controls them. with no way to prevent it, or predict when the next time they do will happen
they are conflicted further when they realize theyre helping them get stronger and achieve the same goal as them
what does this mean? who is this? and why are they helping them if they sound like they hate them so much?
——————————————————————————
note: rushed. and i do actually like this game btw lmao. i just needed to get a part of my frustrations off my chest. overall, this game has a lot of potential i think! the graphics are amazing, and the combat is very interesting (i love combat so much)
i may also write for wuthering waves. if i feel strongly enough about it
since ive been into sagau for almost as long as ive been into canon genshin. yet i only write now ( ̄▽ ̄;)

YES oh my god finally here are all the main players for Stitch in the Ditch, team homespun (Singer, Pupet, Altan), team bespoke (Seam, Husqvarna, Stitch) and the actual antagonist, Brother and the oose. Some of these characters i wrote over a year ago but just now got to designing 💦
connecting them together, Singer is pupet's mom and the former greatest stitch witch of her age, Pupet is the main protagonist repairing the rips in the patwork world, Altan is their guide between the quilt patches, Stitch and Seam are ball jointed doll brother and sister and work for Husqvarna, Husqvarna is Singer's ex-wife and is trying to collect and tidy the scraps of the patchwork world, and Brother is the most powerful stitch witch of all time, hes the one responsible for the fraying after trying to make his own kingdom and the one who created Stitch and Seam. the monsters are called oose and are living thread/lint from the unraveling.
