Do you think Clark Kent had to be formula fed.
And do you think, for a moment, Martha Kent realized she was in over her head.
An alien baby, a canister of formula from the closest shop that she’s not even sure he can eat.
She’s just holding him in front of her with the bottle in one hand and his neck propped up in the other. He’s screaming his head off and she knows he’s hungry but she can’t bring herself to give it to him. She doesn’t know what he is, what will kill him. She may have met this baby maybe a couple hours ago but she’s already decided to protect him with her life.
Jonathan’s out in the shed trying to find any of the old baby clothes and pacifiers they were gifted while they were trying at least half a decade ago; Martha’s pretty sure she threw them all away the second the doctor broke the news.
She realizes that if they do actually do this it’s not going to be easy, and it’s actually going to be quite terrifying. They will always be waiting for that phone call, that knock on the door. From this point forward strangers and outsiders who come sniffin’ for one reason or another will terrify them.
She wonders if they’ll tell him how they actually came to be his parents, or let him live in blissful ignorance.
She counts down to three in her head. And gives him the bottle.
He drinks it happily; perfectly fine.
She can’t remember when she started holding her breath.
A loose curl of his blacker than black hair falls onto his forehead and covers his bluer than blue eyes. She brushes it away and he grabs her fingers with a grip stronger than she thought it’d be. It makes her bark out a laugh.
Something with those pudgy cheeks and that gummy smile can’t be all that terrifying.

Tim’s first time visiting Kent Farm
Ma: Well do you know what this plant is?
Tim: Uh no.
Ma: They’re soybeans. Kon, tell him about soybeans.
Kon: Soybeans…are your friends.
Ma: *gives him a look*
Kon: Well I don’t know anything about soybeans either!

Martha Kent was a smart woman. A strong woman.
She had raised Superman afterall. More importantly she had raised a kind good man. A responsible one.
Maybe not so responsible, or maybe she should have done the birds and bees talk instead of Jonathan.
Cause what else is she supposed to think when she comes across a small boy that looks alot like her Clark and can float.
Or Ma kent comes across a young Danny who floats to grab something on a high shelf. Naturally, this means her son has a child he doesn't know about. (What a time for Clark to be off planet)
( alot of miscommunication and highjinks leads to everyone thinking Clark Fathered a child accidentally)

I find it hard to believe that Clark has an aggressive bone in his body. Now Martha Kent vs Alfred I would pay to see.
This needs a new poll now

The Kents, instead of getting an actual herding breed like a heeler or a collie, would just send out their son in all his 6 year-old Kryptonian glory who had enough energy to fuel Smallville and then some to round up the sheep. He always did a better job than any dog could’ve anyway.

Super baby Danny
Danny was looking at the portals of Ghost Writer as they talked, and Danny complained that, With a mentor, he would have it easier. Like the ones you see in the comics. The next thing he knows, the ghost writer took it as a bet, and he was sent through a portal. Ghost Writer:" After you are sufficiently mentored, I will be taken you back bye!" Danny arrives in Metropolis as a flying toddler. He is discovered by Krypto, Superman's loyal alien dog, who then carried the toddler he saw flying to his master. The Man of Steel looks at the young meta-baby? and isn't sure what to do. And after a Call to Bruce, Clark learned no one is searching for a missing baby.
The next day in the Daily Planet Clark came in with a Toddler in his arm. What he can't just leave a Toddler alone at home with a Dog. Well he wanted to try it but Ma said, no I should take him with him till they arrived.

I'm kind of surprised they've kept the fact that the Kents are relatively old so consistent since the novel in 1939.
Tumblr media
In that one, they say that they were praying for have a child since they were too old when they were ready, and that they saw the rocket as a sign.
Although, if I were to introduce one thing to Superman canon- it would be that the Kents regularly foster kids.
They seem like the type and having them be experienced parents with a number of children and teens would make sense for how readily they were able to handle Clark
